How to get high cortisol down?
35.5 on my cortisol. Chronic fatigue for several years getting worse within the past few months and even worse in the past couple weeks. Get 7-9 hours of sleep regularly. I’m trying to exercise some more. Been forcing myself (despite the fatigue) to do a little jogging + bodyweight and dumbbell exercises. I would argue my anxiety isn’t even “that” bad I’ve had much higher anxiety levels previously. Have already tried 14+ meds for depression/anxiety + 30 sessions of TMS (none worked, SSRI, SNRI, off label like gabapentin and hydroxyzine, etc) So tired during the day where I’m struggling to stay awake at work and worried about it affecting my career. All other bloodwork normal (thyroid, iron, etc) What can I do? I’m so tired of constantly being tired and desperately need relief. It’s affecting my social life which makes me sad (I forced myself to see family and friends recently despite the chronic fatigue but went a couple months without seeing anyone outside of work because fatigue would lead to me cancelling plans). submitted by /u/AfraidKaleidoscope30 to r/Anxiety [link] [comments]

Kenjaku in his original life was probably the biggest high cortisol, sub 5, soy, beta fodder bum in existence
I mean, I can't think of any reason why a guy who's been around for well over a thousand years isn't the greatest sorcerer of all time So it leads to believe that Kenjaku probably wasn't really talented at all, in his original life he was probably just this super basic weak fodder. And the only reason he even got this good at Jujutsu is due to sheer longevity Think of it like this, you're a low IQ random with nothing to your name, but if you could live for as long as you'd like over the centuries you'd develop very high charisma as well as the intellect to succeed and be rich in life, you've basically cracked the system Anyways, that's just my theory submitted by /u/Limp-Leek3859 to r/JujutsuPowerScaling [link] [comments]

Alright I’m actually screwed - bridesmaid dress incident
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/CerebralCortisol Originally posted to r/bigboobproblems Alright I’m actually screwed - bridesmaid dress incident Editor’s note: made small edits and added paragraph breaks for ease of readability Thanks to u/soayherder for suggesting this BoRU Trigger Warnings: body shaming, controlling behavior Original Post: January 21, 2026 Picture of Bridesmaid Dress description of the bridesmaid dress: strapless and features bold, asymmetrical cutouts along the front, connected by few curved gold metal accents creating a sculptural, almost jewelry-like effect across the torso. Black fabric drapes tightly over the body, emphasizing waist and hips. On one side, the dress has a high thigh slit that reveals most of one leg, adding to the dramatic look. The hem falls to the floor on the opposite side, creating an uneven, stylish silhouette. End of bridesmaid dress description OOP’s post: This is the bridesmaid dress for my friend’s upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, my only two options are death or flashing the entire audience. Yes I’ve already talked to her about how this is physically impossible for me to wear and asked if I could wear a more modest substitute in the same color/fabric or at least wear a long sleeve shirt (that’s my skin tone) under the dress Her response was that I shouldn’t worry bc I’ll look great?? (so no, I’ll actively be flashing her future MIL or smth) And that she wants perfect uniformity for the pictures so no undershirt and that this dress fits her effortlessly classy theme. (I, personally, will not be looking classy in this as you can imagine) We’ve been friends for 12+ years adn in her words I’m “absolutely not allowed to drop out” at this point (not that I want to but guys … look at this thing). So send prayers and structural engineering advice if you have any ig Relevant Comments Commenter 1: Is she getting married in a strip club? OOP: The reception is literally in a club but she says she’s gonna “transform it into smth elegant” I really really wanna ask her if she’s sure the theme is “classy” and not “exotic dancer-esque” 😫. Commenter 2: I would 100% wear a skin tone body suit under this, there is no way I would go out in public in just this! Maybe give her a few days and revisit it? Sometimes people get excited and forget the laws of physics. OOP: Ilysm yes this is my plan. I’m gonna try it on in front of her tmr and pray she “sees” straight up why this isn’t gonna work Commenter 3: All you’ll have to do is actually try it on in front of her. It’s the only way she will understand the gravity of the situation… and that is the gravity your boobs will have in this dress OOP: HAHAHA ♥️ Yes exactly I’m doing this tomorrow bc I’m at a loss 😭 There’s no way I’m not traumatizing the crowd in that dress Commenter 4: maybe I’m the old prude but it feels legitimately rude to choose a club dress as a bridesmaid dress and force your friends of all sizes into… whatever this is OOP: Exactly how I feel 😭 I don’t wanna rain on her parade but this is just not possible for me, ofc I support her choices but this one is really questionable and kinda insulting 😔 Commenter 5: I'm baffled that this is a choice for a bridesmaid dress at all. 😭😭 Surely you are not the only bridesmaid that isn't an A cup. Let alone have any curves at all. Good luck with showing her OP because oooooh boy I would be considering if she refuses to change the dress to just... Drop out of being in the wedding party. OOP: I’m the only one above a B cup and not model skinny, so ofc I understand she’s trying to accommodate 98% of her bridesmaids but that kinda just leaves me fighting for my life 🥹 I hope she sees reason tmr 🙏♥️. Commenter 6: I wouldn't consider that dress classy for a wedding...I agree with wearing a skin tone body suit or something. OOP: She’s an “interesting” gal with very unique taste. I love her really but I think the wedding excitement is fogging her brain a bit when it comes to gravity and physics Commenter 7: That is a wildly inappropriate dress for a bride to choose for her bridesmaids without every single one of them consenting. I would tell her that I would not be wearing the dress and to choose a substitute. If she doesn't okay a substitute I'd step down and ask to attend as a regular guest. OOP: Everyone else consented and loved it when she showed us the other day 🥹 I was the only lone veto and they thought it was bc I didn’t like the design but it’s legit bc I can’t wear it 😭 I hope tm when I try it on for her she sees that I need something under it or a different dress Does OOP know what the bride is actually wearing? OOP: A short lace dress with a sheer stomach panel that’s custom made for the reception (idk don’t ask me why, even I found it questionable) is what I know so far so you can probably guess why the bridesmaid dresses look like this-   Editor's note: OOP made a separate post for the update, but it was removed. The update was reinstalled as a comment in the original post Update (in comments): January 22, 2026 (next day) Hii guys I’m sorry I didn’t know how/where to post an update so I’m just gonna make a new post I’m sorry UPDATE: My friend came over like we agreed but she didn’t tell me she was also bringing her mom and MIL so I was a little caught off guard. Her mom I kinda understand since she’s known me my whole life and bought the dresses for all the bridesmaids, but idk MIL at all so I felt a bit intimidated. Things needed to be seen and said about the dress tho so I asked my friend politely to come in my room so I could try it on in front of her. But her mom insisted I show all of them since she was the one who “spent good money on it” and didn’t see how it could be as bad as I made it out to be, insisting her daughter chose smth “befitting of all us girls” (ok auntie wtv u say). I tried to say it was a bad idea but MIL butted in to say she wanted to see why I was making such a big deal out of nothing. Like ik I always wear baggy clothes and don’t show my figure much now but friend’s mom watched me grow up guys and at the very least she knew I was a G cup in MS and an I/J in HS since I’ve gone shopping w her on multiple occasions. Anyway I just kinda think fuck it, everyone here is a woman with lady bits so it’s nothing they haven’t seen before and say “ok aunties”. I go to put on this atrocity and guys lemme tell you the series of unfortunate events that unfolded: -first I hear some seams stretching and snapping as I slither and shimmy into this thing -then I look in the mirror and omg the fabric, I knew it was thin to begin with but when I saw the way it stretched across the curves of my tummy and hips and ass that shit became sheer, straight up see through -the middle snake’s head popped out from its fabric loop so it’s tail was hanging on for dear life in its fabric loop (that was just loosely hanging down at that point since it wasn’t being pulled taut by the other end of the snake, I didn’t bother fixing it since the point was to show her how bad the dress was) -my stretch marks all over my hips and inner thigh were on full display people -the slit, omg please the slit wasn’t even to the side of my leg, it was basically centered because my thighs are chubby, so when I walked or just moved in general tht shit fluttered in the wind and you got a full view of my hooha (yes I went braless and pantyless bc every set of panties I own would be visible in that dress) -and finally bc I love dramatic effect, I try to get my boobs into that tiny ass panel of fabric at the top, it doesn’t work (what a f surprise) so instead I just let one flop out the bottom of the panel so I have enough room for my singular other tit to sit inside the panel but in doing so I had to like angle my tit sideways with my whole areola showing through the center of the snake I walk out with a little twirl and ass shake, everything jiggling in the wind and I feel the breeze on my ykw. I do a whole number for them, bending over to pick up some “lint”on the floor, performing a mock waltz with an imaginary partner, jumping up and down to some nonexistent music, serving them chai with my tit on the table, sitting on a dining chair in front of them so they see I’m clearly pantyless/braless. My friend is dying laughing, ok that seems like a good sign. Her mom is wide eyed and looks a bit embarrassed but has that understanding glint in her eye too yk, so I was like ok great I’m in the clear so far. Then I look at MIL and woman looks like I just mauled her dog, she was so red in the face. I haven’t been yelled at like that by anyone other than my mother in years. This woman I barely know is spitting and screaming in my face that I’m a “whore” and “kafir” and doing this on purpose to ruin (friend’s) wedding bc im an attention seeker yada yada~ Nobody cut in or attempted to deescalate or save me from the onslaught of her foul breath. They left a while ago after finishing their chai while I sobbed silently on the couch in front of them and yes I changed into a normal skirt and sweater for that. Anyhow all is well, I am no longer a bridesmaid and have been disinvited from the wedding altogether tho. MIL said it was between that and not letting (friend) marry her son bc she associates w “people like me”, which I understand maybe I went overboard, but agreeing to the ultimatum in front of me hurt a bit, so yea this might be the worst day of my life. RIP to a 12+ yr friendship, she was like my sister. Top Comments Commenter 1: Oof. Who needs enemies when you have friends like this. Commenter 2: MIL sounds like a piece of work. I hope that you get to stay friends, and maybe this will open your friends eyes about what to expect from her MIL in the future. But damn, your description of how the dress fit, had me dying of laughter, with you not at you. Cos that was so real. Commenter 3: Wow. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I'm also sorry that your friend who you thought of like a sister felt it was okay for her future MIL to treat you that way. That's Grade A shitty friend behavior. I hope you tell her as such, and how hurt you are that you meant is little to her as a friend. I mean, does MIL actually have any say in your friend marrying her son? They're both grown adults who can make their own decisions. Unless you live in a culture where the MIL does make decisions like that, in which case I'm sorry. Honestly, if you and this friend are as close as you claim, I think it would be worth reaching out to tell her how hurt you are, and how you aren't entirely sure if your friendship is worth keeping if she's comfortable with you being verbally abused in front of her. Your body is not your fault, nor is it something to be ashamed of, and you warned them several times the dress would not work for you. It's not fair you got shamed for that to the point of tears, and honestly I'm livid on your behalf.   DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

How I finally broke my 5 hours sleep by managing high cortisol
For the last 3 years, I’ve had a hard limit of 5 hours of sleep. I’m active (gym and sports), so at first, I thought it was just physical stress or diet. But even on holidays, I’d snap awake. Meditation was the breakthrough - it taught me that I wasn't just "waking up"; I was waking up with racing thoughts immediately. However, I was not consistent with meditation and ultimately decided to rely on supplements. Magnesium Glycinate: My first win. Helped me wake up peacefully and hit 7 hours for about two weeks, but stress eventually overpowered it. Ashwagandha: Worked briefly, then stopped (most likely because it doesn't blunt the cortisol directly) Phosphatidylserine (PS): I read that it helps athletes with high cortisol and usually works within just a few days. While it lowers cortisol, for some people (like me), it increases Acetylcholine. This made my brain too sharp and active at night, making the insomnia worse. Relora: This was the game changer. It blunted the cortisol without activating my brain. I realized I was sometimes waking up in a sweat because of late-night carbs or hot showers after sports or at the gym. I fixed it simply by changing my shower & diet timings, and also not covering my legs and head under the blanket. For supplements, I heard that glycine would help to cool down your body, but I never tried it (Glycine in magnesium glycinate is not enough) I used to take L-Theanine if I was too stressed before sleep, but it didn't go well with Relora. Relora also has a sedating effect so that I can sleep quickly. My current stack: Magnesium Glycinate and Relora. I hope this helps my fellow insomniacs, but please make sure you research any supplements before you take them. Our bodies are different - whatever worked for me (Relora) might not work for you, or could react differently with your chemistry. Test things slowly. A fellow insomniac gave me a great tip - if a supplement stops working, don't just increase the dose. Take a week off to reset your receptors. You can try this if you want to stick to your supplements, but lose their effect over time. submitted by /u/GnaneshGnani to r/sleep [link] [comments]

Can't lose fat (trying for last 4-5 years, body fat remains the same) turns out I have high cortisol levels. How do I solve this?
Edit 3: I literally mention HIGH CORTISOL in title still people are saying "calorie deficit", "good sleep" etc. Listen...I was an athlete (outdoor rowing) currently not practicing cuz of rains and monsoon plus studies. I have been in therapy for a year and I am better now. But the effects of that depression are still here. Like bad sleep, and high cortisol (face and lower belly fat). I literally consulted a dietician for making me a tailored diet plan. Following it rigorously for last few months and still weight remains same. To be honest I don't care about weight, I want to lose body fat which is at 25% now. I want to do better in rowing before season opens up for us (cuz more fat cuz less stamina during training). Now I also used to go to gym but in last month I fell seriously ill, and lose muscles there. After recovery I gained fat and weight still remains the same (again don't care about weight, but muscle loss since it was difficult). No coffee and no alcohol. I have tried everything. I have high cortisol (due to prolonged chronic depression) Under therapy currently since last year, though situation has become good and I don't suffer from depression anymore. My cortisol levels are still high. Few days ago I made a post about not having good sleep due to this. I started taking fish oil (with 1000mg epa+dha this time, means 4-6 pills of 1gm a day). Though it can be the placebo but my sleep is improved now, I can sleep for 5-6 hours now. Today it was 7 hours. But now, this fat situation isn't going away. And I am on a calorie deficit since a long period of time. The only way I lost fat few days ago was when I fell seriously ill and was on liquid diet whole time to recover better. Now I can't be on liquid diet whole time for next 4-6 months to lose weight. Anyone? Edit: Guys it's not simple CICO (calories in calories out) for people like me. Not lucky enough to be born in well functioning home. My maintenance is 2500 and my daily calorie intake is below 1500. I go to gym minimum 3 times a week. Protein is daily 100gm+ with 30-50gm of carbs daily (you need carbs for energy), zero sugar, and again 30-50gms of fat (oil intake and animal or milk fst contributes to this). I have been on this diet for long. No changes in fat still on 25% body fat. Height: 5'10 weight 74kgs, 4 years ago it was 81kgs and I only lost these 7 kgs because of getting severely ill 3-4 times in these years. Edit 2: Forgot to mention important details. Age: 24, Gender: male. submitted by /u/biggest-head887 to r/Biohackers [link] [comments]

Is cortisol belly actually a thing?
I’m trying to lose weight and I’m seeing videos talking about how if your cortisol levels are high than you won’t be able to lose weight in certain areas. I’m also seeing videos about like having a hormonal body type and how instead of genetics it’s mostly hormones that are making your body look that way. Is any of this actually true? I have gained weight in my midsection and I am bloated after like almost every meal. I’m confused if I can still lose weight in my stomach area if my cortisol levels are high. I’m just so lost because I’ve seen people saying that they started eating “hormone friendly” foods and lost weight I know you have to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight but I’m so confused if your cortisol levels actually do anything when your losing weight submitted by /u/Idk738374682 to r/loseit [link] [comments]

Has anyone battled and/or beat high cortisol?
Hi friends! I don’t consider myself stressed most of the time, but I’ve been in a caregiving role for a few loved ones for quite some time and in doing so, my body’s response has been a steady survivalism state. I have symptoms consistent with high cortisol. I have an underlying autoimmune condition (chronic), but it’s well controlled and most other labs are stable. Has anyone battled high cortisol? What worked for you? Is it really best served by just prioritized the basics (sleep schedule, sunlight, walks, balanced meals). Grateful for any advice or resources you may have. 🤍 Edit: for context, I probably should’ve said this is toooootally burnout 🙃 submitted by /u/headinthestars888 to r/PetiteFitness [link] [comments]

9 ways to lower cortisol levels and prevent stress
Stress is the body’s response to a potential threat that may be related to physical and psychological factors. Learn about the role of cortisol in stress and how to lower cortisol. Cortisol is one of the hormones produced by the adrenal cortex. It is involved in many metabolic processes, such as helping to regulate blood pressure and blood sugar levels. In addition, it plays a role in the awakening process after sleep. When you wake up, your hormone levels rise, peaking after 30 minutes and then gradually decreasing throughout the day. Cortisol is also called the “stress hormone”. When your body feels threatened, physically or psychologically, your brain sends a signal to your adrenal glands, and they release cortisol in response. This hormone improves concentration, blood circulation, and glucose synthesis – this helps the body release additional energy to cope with stress more effectively. Despite the benefits of cortisol, frequent or prolonged increases in cortisol levels can be harmful to the body. For example, chronic stress causes cortisol dysfunction, which leads to inflammation, depression, and accelerated cell aging. It is also associated with the development of osteoporosis, muscular dystrophy, and decreased antitumor immunity. Chronic stress occurs as a result of repeated exposure to situations that result in the release of stress hormones, including cortisol. We’ve compiled nine evidence-based ways to naturally lower cortisol levels and manage stress. This will help your body to experience a state of mobilization less often to eliminate a potential threat. This article is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be used to diagnose or treat or replace professional advice. 1. Identify the factors provoking stress Threats to life or change of scenery are irritants that provoke anxiety and can become a trigger or stress factor. These irritants include physical pain, relationship or work problems, and financial difficulties. It is, of course, impossible to predict when you will hit the chair with your foot. But some types of triggers can be learned to recognize. One of the first steps to relieve stress is to understand what is causing it. I don’t want to remember and think about unpleasant situations. But a stress diary can help you recognize stimuli so you can be less responsive to them. It is not necessary to remember all the details of an unpleasant event – it is enough to write down the fact and try to analyze why the incident caused you a negative reaction. With a stress diary, you can find practical ways to deal with these situations. For example, avoiding quarrels, learning to build personal boundaries in relationships and at work, and saying “no” in time. Moreover, you will be able to identify hidden causes of stress like hanging on social media. 2. Learn to recognize thoughts that cause stress Reflecting on negative and traumatic events is a trigger for the synthesis of cortisol. British scientists conducted a study in which participants recorded their most negative memories for 20 minutes over three days. The results showed that this caused the participants to have high levels of cortisol. Scientists attribute this to long-term effects on the entire body. Also, the scientific community highlights the role of anxiety and looping on negative thoughts in stress levels. It has been proven that negative thinking not only increases cortisol levels but also badly affects the production of oxytocin, a hormone that calms the nervous system. The mental practice of mindfulness is one way to combat negative thinking and helps lower cortisol levels. Hungarian scientists conducted a meta-analysis of ten studies on the relationship between meditation and stress hormone levels. The results showed that meditation has a positive effect on people living under stressful conditions, but especially on patients with depression and PTSD. 3. Pay attention to the quality of your sleep. A person who has slept well will find it easier to deal with the effects of stress and unpleasant situations. But it’s not just the quality and duration of sleep that affect cortisol levels. What time you go to bed and wake up also plays a role. Research shows that people who work night shifts and sleep during the day are more likely to have elevated cortisol levels. Shift work under the age of 40 is associated with a higher body mass index (BMI) and higher cortisol levels. Cortisol can be elevated due to lack of sleep, especially in the evening after a lack of sleep. The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system is responsible for the production of cortisol. When a threat to the body appears, a part of the brain, the hypothalamus, synthesizes special substances that are sent to the pituitary epididymis. He, in turn, sends a signal to the adrenal glands. In response, the adrenal cortex releases cortisol, some of which again enters the brain, affecting the thinking process. This relationship between the brain and the kidneys is called the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis is also responsible for regulating sleep cycles. Stress, illness, or poor nutrition can activate the axis. Subsequently, this can worsen your sleep and increase cortisol. Sleep hygiene is one of the deciding factors in its quality. Try to create an environment in which the amount of noise and light is minimal. This will help blackout curtains, eye masks, earplugs. Tips for Improving Sleep Quality to Reduce Cortisol Levels: Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time. Wash bedding and sleepwear regularly – fresh scent helps the body to relax Try not to use devices that emit blue light (TV, phone, tablet) 2-3 hours before bed Avoid caffeinated drinks in the afternoon Avoid excessive strength and cardio activities two hours before bed. 4. Exercise regularly Exercise can either increase or decrease cortisol levels, depending on the duration and intensity of the exercise. Despite the benefits of playing sports, it is still a load and stress for the body. Therefore, as a result of intense exercise, cortisol usually rises briefly, but then falls at night. At the same time, moderate-intensity exercise does not lead to an increase in stress hormone levels. Like vigorous exercise, moderate exercise is associated with a decrease in cortisol levels at night. With regular exercise, cortisol levels can be controlled. And in addition to lowering the stress hormone, sports have a good effect on the microbiota. But it’s best to avoid strenuous evening workouts that will keep you awake. Physical activity isn’t just good for the body – many doctors recommend it to improve mental health as well. 5. Find something to do Learning how to relax is really beneficial, especially if you want to manage stress. A new hobby is one way that also helps you learn a new skill. It doesn’t matter what you do, the main thing is that you enjoy the activity American scientists conducted a study of 50 former combatants who experienced depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, or substance abuse. They practiced gardening and occupational therapy for a month. The results showed a decrease in stress and a decrease in cortisol. Think about what activity you will enjoy – perhaps it is drawing, music, or gardening. 6. Laugh often. Laughter is good not only for the soul but also for the body. It is a natural way to overcome stress and reduce cortisol levels. A study published in 2008 found that even the anticipation of laughter leads to a decrease in blood levels of cortisol, as well as two other stress hormones, adrenaline, and norepinephrine. Laughter lowers not only stress hormone levels, but also blood pressure. If you are having a fun and interesting time, you are unlikely to experience a lot of stress at the same time. This is why it is so important to plan your time and visit interesting places and events. 7. Communicate with animals It has been scientifically proven that contact with animals is associated with decreased cortisol levels. Scientists have studied how interaction with animals affects stress and found that long-term interaction with dogs, even strangers, as well as pet ownership, has a positive effect on cortisol levels. In addition, the interaction between man and dog increases the level of oxytocin in both. Pets are associated not only with reduced stress levels but other health benefits as well. For owners of cats, dogs, parrots, and other pets, it is easier to focus attention. Also, animals have a positive effect on blood pressure and help to avoid feelings of loneliness. 8. Add cortisol-lowering foods to your diet. Nutrition affects not only metabolic processes in the body but also the level of cortisol. Certain foods, such as sugar, can increase the amount of stress hormone. Neurotransmitter chemicals are responsible for transmitting signals to the nervous system and controlling mood. And hormones and food are responsible for their production. How to reduce cortisol through nutrition Foods rich in polyphenols can help reduce stress hormone levels. For example, the long-term health benefits of drinking green tea are scientifically proven – drinking as little as half a glass a day reduces the risk of depression and dementia. Eating the foods in the table below will help control your stress hormone levels: FoodBeveragesBananasBlack teaDark chocolateGreen teaPlant fibersProbiotics (yogurt)Probiotics (sauerkraut)Water Remember that seizing stress only provides temporary relief and can lead to eating disorders, weight gain, and blood sugar problems. During times of stress, try to choose foods containing plant fiber – fiber provides a feeling of fullness for a long time and regulates blood sugar levels. Regular sugar intake is associated with long-term high cortisol levels and is associated with a higher risk of heart disease in overweight men. Probiotics The gut microbiota contains trillions of bacteria that are beneficial to your health. They strengthen the intestinal lining, fight inflammation, regulate the immune system, and even mental health. This is why it is important to take care of the composition of the gut bacteria. Among the inhabitants of the gut microbiota are probiotic bacteria that reduce cortisol levels and, consequently, stress. Among them are the bacteria Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and L. farciminis. Probiotic foods help maintain healthy gut bacteria. Dairy drinks like kefir and yogurt, as well as fermented foods like kimchi, contain certain strains of probiotic bacteria. They help reduce stress-induced cortisol levels. Research shows that one Lactobacillus strain, L. Plantarum 299v, reduces exam stress in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). With the Atlas Microbiota Test, you can learn about the bacterial diversity of your gut as well as assess the level of probiotic bacteria. 9. Spend time in nature The noise of the big city, rush, and traffic jams are part of the life of many people, but not everyone realizes the degree of the negative impact of such an atmosphere on physical and mental health. Even a park or nature reserve within the city limits is a great opportunity to recover and relax. Forest therapy is a part of life for most Japanese people. They call her “shining-Youku” which translates to “forest baths.” This is the practice of walking in a park or forest for 2-4 hours, which includes contemplation of nature and deep breathing. As proved by scientists, this pastime reduces cortisol levels, normalize heart rate and blood pressure. Deep breathing reduces heart rate, improves mood, and reduces stress. There is no one-size-fits-all method of dealing with stress – every organism and brain is unique. Good sleep, proper nutrition, and regular physical activity are the basis for a healthy body. Now you also know what other scientifically proven ways to prevent and reduce stress. Make a note: Identify stress triggers Learn to recognize thoughts that cause stress Pay attention to the quality of your sleep Exercise regularly Find something to do Laugh often Get a pet Eat more cortisol-lowering foods Spend time in nature submitted by /u/ennagraoui to r/Stress [link] [comments]
