Keeping cat stimulated - outdoor cat to indoor cat
Hi all, unfortunately looks like my 4 year old female cat is going to have to become an indoor cat due to change of circumstance. She was found as a stray and enjoys being outside. She meows and scratches doors/windows/tvs like crazy when she wants to get outside. I’m looking for recommendations for good interactive toys, puzzles etc to keep my cat occupied, healthy and stimulated. I’m in the house a lot but not every day, so would like stuff she can do independently too. At the moment she goes out for maybe 6 hours a day, bothers local cats, jumps into the neighbours garden and hangs out in my garden. She doesn’t hunt but she is interested in the birds. Toys I’ve tried her with that she’s not interested in: - Teddies, small mice, fish etc, not bothered - Ball inside circular tube (some interest) - Automatic spinning ball with tail - Small hollow balls - Scratching posts/ scratching mats She has been okay with a harness, but is scared of the retractable lead. She is interested in: - Toys with a string on a stick, she likes to jump and attack it - Automatic toy where mice jump out in a circular motion - Scratching the carpet - Mild interest in a ping pong ball I’d like to try her on a cat wheel and buy some cat grass. What works well for your cat? Any advice gratefully welcomed, thanks! Side note: She eats raw food and I don’t give her biscuits, but I could for treat puzzles? submitted by /u/mistnclouds to r/CatAdvice [link] [comments]

How do outdoor carpets compare to indoor carpets in terms of price and quality?
I’ve been comparing out-door carpets and indoor carpets recently, substantially because I'm about redoing a small yard area but also want a commodity that still feels comfortable enough indoors. The thing that surprised me the most was the cruciality on how prices change depending on the material and you purchased it. There some out-door carpets I found that are more affordable than I had assumed.but I’m quite intrigued if this affects the quality specially in the future. Whereas there are some inner carpets that I had checked that are way softer and comfortable, despite the fact that they also need extra care especially when exposed to a higher humidity area or direct sunlight. I’ve also been browsing online through online platforms too, such as Alibaba, Amazon and recommended to me, as I checked, they offer nearly identical to what I’ve been looking for. . For those who have used both, can you partake in what's between them that holds up a way longer or that’s worth paying just in case. submitted by /u/Wide-Courage-1383 to r/Flooring [link] [comments]

My indoor/outdoor cat has stopped using his litter tray! Any advice?
My 9 year old cat used to use his litter tray no problem. He would maybe use it a few times a week. But over the past year this has gotten gradually less and less to the point where he hasn’t used it at all in months and I’m worried. I blame myself as an incident happened with his tray. I changed his litter to a different brand and I didn’t put the lid on properly accidentally. He went to use it and probably discovered the litter had changed and also he got a fright at the same time because the lid fell off as he was in there. I have since changed the litter back to what he was using before but I think the damage has been done, he now doesn’t go anywhere near it. I’ve ruled out any health issues as he meows to go outside and I can see him go in the garden but I really want to discourage this. I didn’t think it was a massive deal until I came home to find he had pooped on the carpet. So now I’m stressed about it. I thought if he really needed to go he would still go into the tray but I guess not. Any advice? submitted by /u/Numerous_Sky_2878 to r/CatTraining [link] [comments]

Indoor cat, outdoor/indoor dog - flea and tick prevention?
My husband and I have two cats, both 5 years old, both indoor cats who we never let out. We just inherited two dogs, a Shiba and a Lab, both 10 years old. The dogs don't go outside much except for walks and backyard to pee/run around in our landlords' backyard. They also have a dog and spray their yard, but as we enter spring we've already found a few ticks crawling on our dogs and I've pulled one off of the Shiba. I'm now putting them on Simparica Trio, checking them any time we come inside, and spraying them down with flea/tick all natural killer spray before and after we go for walks. Is there a way to prevent the cats from getting ticks? I've been checking them frantically and haven't seen anything. The cats and dogs don't interact much but the cats will occasionally sit on the couches/carpet after the dogs. We also allow the cats to sleep in the bed with us, but not the dogs as the bed is too small for all four animals and us. Plug-ins, medications, etc.? We live in New England and Lyme disease/deer ticks scare the hell out of me, so any advice is appreciated! submitted by /u/Ok_Pollution_ta to r/Pets [link] [comments]

Took the girl to see the doctor today…
Took her to the vet today because we’ve been having some issues… She’s suddenly snubbing her Litter Robot (that I’ve had for years- no issue) and has been peeing outside the robot once a day or so. Annoying. But she’d still visit it twice a day, and always pooped in it for sure. Yesterday she pooped outside the box where she usually pees, and started acting like she needed to crawl into my skin to reside there. Red flag city. Time to haul your butt in, little (old) lady! I took her in today to make sure nothing was wrong…. TURNS OUT…. She’s just a bitch!!!! There’s literally nothing wrong with her lmao. She’s just spite pissing because she’s mad she’s no longer indoor/outdoor. The vet literally said “there’s absolutely nothing wrong. She’s just a tortie. She’s got lots of attitude.” 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ She’s still the sweetest thing, especially when she’s hungry. I would literally die for her and her voidling brother, but damn girl. Unnecessary bills in this economy?! Anyways… Off to clean my carpets again… submitted by /u/Booboohole21 to r/torties [link] [comments]

Anyone have any indoor/outdoor carpet or astro turf remnants they are willing to let go for cheap or free?
I am trying to collect enough to cover a 24'x24' (or larger) area to build a small, semi-portable race course for our micro RC racing buggies. Short pile is preferred due to the tiny little car's size. So far the best deal I've found is $.40/sq.ft for astro turf at the big orange corporate box store. Carpet Liquidators remnants were more. What say you fine folk? You have some carpet for me? Other ideas? I'm not against having to do a little work for a good piece. If you have questions about the cars or racing check out r/whatcomradiocontrol Or look up Whatcom Micro Buggy Racing on the facespace. submitted by /u/XSrcing to r/Bellingham [link] [comments]

What do I do?
Long time listener, first time caller I live in Miami Beach, and for months this cat has been lurking in the bushes of our complex, casing the property. On weekends I'd sit outside and slowly try to befriend him... he'd hang around, stay skittish, accept some pets, occasionally give gentle nibbles. This went on for about five months. Things escalated today. I was sitting in the garden and he came over, rubbed against me like usual, then climbed into my lap and started making biscuits. Later tonight, as l walked in through the back door, he came out of nowhere, ran straight into the apartment, and is now sitting next to me on the carpet... it's going to be extremely cold here tonight (~37°F) Here's the dilemma: we have several neighborhood indoor/ outdoor cats with owners who hang out in our yard. I don't want to overfeed him if he belongs to someone... or worse, accidentally kidnap him. Also... he appears to have big ol' trouble puffs - don’t owners typically get this taken care of? submitted by /u/mango_shamrock_7 to r/CATHELP [link] [comments]

Looking for Advice: Indoor Carpet RC Racing with jumps + Outdoor Pavement with Traxxas slash - Good setup ?
Hey everyone, I’m interested in getting into indoor carpet RC racing with my 9-year-old this winter and then using the same truck outdoors on pavement during the summer. Before I pull the trigger on a purchase, I wanted to get some community feedback on my planned setup and whether it makes sense for what I want to do. What I’m Thinking: Right now I’m considering a Traxxas Slash Ultimate with a 2S LiPo setup and carpet-specific tires for indoor racing. I’m drawn to the Slash because: Durability — I want something rugged that can handle kids, jumps, and general beating. Versatility — I’d love to use the same vehicle both on indoor carpet tracks (with jumps) and outdoors on pavement in summer. Traxxas support — There’s a local hobby shop near me that stocks Traxxas parts, which is a big plus for maintenance and upgrades. My Questions: Is a Slash Ultimate with a 2S battery and carpet tires a decent, trackable setup for indoor carpet racing? I’ve seen heavier, bashy trucks struggle on finer indoor surfaces — I want to make sure this isn’t going to be a boat that just slides everywhere. Will this platform actually work well outdoors on pavement? I figure low, carpet/slick tires aren’t great on rougher surfaces — but I’m hoping I could swap tires and still run confidently without breaking stuff. Are there other Traxxas models or alternatives that might be better suited for dual indoor/outdoor use? I want to stick with Traxxas to take advantage of local parts support, but I’m open to suggestions if another platform makes more sense. Some Context: I’m mostly a complete beginner (my kid is loving RC play and I want something we can grow into). Indoor carpet racing seems like something we’d do maybe once or twice a week in winter; summer we’d run on smooth pavement and parking lots. Durability + ease of maintenance is a priority more than squeezing every ounce of lap time performance. If you’ve raced carpet before, or used a Slash in a similar way, I’d love your honest thoughts. Build suggestions, tire setups, gear ratios, shocks, body choices — any insight is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Edit: racing is at dollar hobbyz in Woodbury MN submitted by /u/ryz321 to r/rccars [link] [comments]

Wedding Venues – 180 Guests, Indoor + Outdoor Spaces
Hi everyone! My fiancé and I have seen a handful of wedding venues in New England but haven’t found the perfect one yet. We’d love any recommendations you might have. Here’s what we’re looking for: Budget (for venue): ~$85k Guest count: ~180 Location: Anywhere in New England (preferably ~1.5-2.5 hours outside the Boston/Greater Boston area (where we live), as we want a weekend “experience” for our guests) Ceremony + Cocktail Hour: Outdoors; bonus points if there is a body of water Reception: Indoors (or pavillion style with a roof, just no tents); I don't love traditional ballrooms with carpet and my fiancé doesn't love barns which has made the search a bit tough. Ideally, we'd like all guests to eat in the same room. So far, Shepherd’s Run (RI) has been our favorite. Unfortunately, starting in 2027 they require weddings to buy out the entire hotel and the rooms are pricey. We don't feel super comfortable asking our guests to splurge when there are more affordable hotels nearby. We’re open to all suggestions, including unique venues that might not show up in the usual wedding search engines. Thanks! submitted by /u/SJ_Bride to r/NewEnglandWedding [link] [comments]

My bf (28m) wants my (24f) cat to go from indoor/outdoor to only outdoor
I really need some advice cause I am really upset. Me and my bf have been together for almost 4 years and we recently bought a house last year. After years of begging him to take in a cat we finally did this year. We got our cat at two months and shes been living with us since April. She likes to go outside once a day and come back in for the night. She is spayed and vaxxed. Shes been with us for 6 months, and my boyfriend drops that he doesnt want the cat inside anymore because he doesn't like the smell of litter (even tho i clean it all the time), the hair everywhere, and the recent flea problem in our carpet we had (i havent had a chance to fix this cause this just happened yesterday and i am currently out of town). He said he would build a big outside cat hotel for my cat with insulation and everything. I am not for it at all, i want her inside. Of course i tell him this and he said he has been unhappy with the cat inside for a couple of months now. I tell him i worry for other cats outside, the big racoons that come by sometimes, she could be potentially run over by a car, and the upcoming cold weather (we live in a state that snows). He said shes a cat she will learn how to live outside. He said there was no changing his mind. What should I do? Edit: Ok I didnt think this was going to blow up the way it did. Im here with a late update cause yall i was out of town and the situation was already upsetting to me so I didnt want to deal with this when there was nothing i could do while i was out of town. A few things My boyfriend has never abused our cat. He is not an evil person he was just frustrated with the situation which is understandable due to the fleas. Fleas are not fun obviously and I didn't do my best to prevent them. My cat is not from a shelter, we got her from someone who had a litter. We will not be bringing her to any shelter. We also live in a suburban area so we have no woods here. But we do live on a somewhat busy road. We let our cat outside cause guys she likes going outside, she will meow so we can let her out, but she stays in our backyard that is surrounded by a private fence of 8 ft, she has never left because there is no way out unless we open the gate. Its my bad that i didnt prevent the fleas. I listened to the comments that gave me advice (not the breakup ones) and i ordered strong flea treatment for my cat, flea raid, enzyme deodorizer, and a air purifier. Yesterday when i got back from my trip I Immediately sanitized anywhere my cat has been, and deshed the two rugs we have and the carpet in our gaming room. I also bought a chomp chomp and im so mad at myself for not getting it earlier cause its amazing. Im still learning how to take care of my cat obviously but now i know what to do next and how to fix the problems. I haven't let her outside so i can prevent anymore fleas from coming in. I still need to give her a bath and had no time Yesterday but will be doing that once i come home from work. It was better for my boyfriend and i to have this conversation in person rather than thru text and when i was so busy. Im not the best at text arguments but my boyfriend understood that i would be really upset if we made our cat only outdoors. So when i came home we had the conversation. I told him the cons of having our cat outside and that i will do better to make sure the house doesn't feel like a cat is inside. Like i would vacuum more and make sure no fleas are inside. I want us both to be happy in our house. He said as long as im doing my part to make sure it doesnt happen again, then we can keep our cat inside. Thats the update yall, i think the way he went about it was wrong (like telling me his feelings right before my trip like i was literally walking out the door) but on my part i should've done better as a girlfriend and as a cat parent to make sure these problems didnt come up in the first place cause that was what i promised when we first took in our cat. My boyfriend is my best friend and i am also his, so I knew there was something we could work out where we could both come out happy. I was just so frustrated yall lmao. Im typing all this on my comfy couch with my fur baby in my lap. Thanks to those who gave me advice, and trust when i say i dont let anyone walk over me when it comes to big decisions like these. 01/02/2026 Update cause idk if anyone is here anymore but Im moving out WITH THE CAT LMAOOOOOO submitted by /u/No_Impress_9192 to r/CatAdvice [link] [comments]

Sign to continue lease
I've lurked here a long time and never thought of something I could post but remembered this gem from about 14 years ago. This starts when my (now) wife and I decided to move in together and rent a house. We were in our early twenties, it was our first time renting and we had fairly low income so our options were limited. Luckily we found a place that was in a less desirable area but had recently had some basic renovations. We signed a lease and life went on. Our first 12 months went by with a rental inspection from the agent every 3 months or so, never got any feedback and being new to renting figured everything was ok. We had a couple items that needed repairing in that time so I met the landlord and got his details for organising repairs. He seemed like a decent bloke, probably early forties, reasonably handy and did some repairs himself. The first year went by, the lease came to an end, they increased the price and we signed on for another 12 months. Then it happened...about 2 months later the agent came to inspect along with the landlord's wife. The wife turned her nose up at absolutely everything and made a number of insulting comments about our furniture when she thought I couldn't hear. We got an inspection report after that gave us a huge list of items to rectify and 2 weeks to do it or they'd initiate proceedings to evict us. Naturally after never hearing any feedback from any other inspections we were shocked. The items were mostly minor nitpicks with the worst things being to move our cats outdoors, clean the oven and poison weeds on the path in the backyard. We were fine copping it on the chin and doing what they asked... except for the cats. Initially when signing the lease it said no pets but we requested and got acceptance for our indoor only cats. It was noted on the lease... but not on the copy I had. I was kicking myself for not having it in writing and knew I had no chance if they wanted to push the point. So I called the landlord rather than talking through the agent. He explained that tenants in the other house they owned had been using it as a drug lab and the agents had never picked up on it. So when they found out his wife insisted on going along to our inspection, hence why we got a bad report. I talked it out with him, and although he was very patronising towards me, he agreed we could keep the cats inside as long as we kept everything clean and the next reports went fine. So we did as they asked and they increased the inspections from once every 3 months to once a month which is the minimum period they're allowed. We had a list of things to fix after every inspection. It made our life hell, we felt like intruders in our own home, we grew to hate living there and it put a strain on our relationship. Luckily our unluckily depending on how you look at it my father passed away around that time, so I ended up with inheritance money from his super fund and the sale of his house. My wife and I used the inheritance as a deposit to buy a house of our own, sorted out a loan agreement and found a place we liked. Now this is where I finally got my chance to repay them for making us feel like indentured servants that only existed to vacuum carpets and scrub walls in our home. By some miracle of luck I negotiated the settlement date for our new house to be one week before our lease was due to end. This meant that we wouldn't have to break contract and be stuck footing the bill while they found new tenants! Better yet, they sent me a letter saying our lease was due to end and included a new lease agreement (with a large jump in rent). The letter said we had to either sign the new lease and send it back to them by a date that was 2 weeks before end of lease or consider the contract ended, move out by the end of the lease term and hand over the keys. It said nothing about telling them we didn't want to renew the lease... so I didn't. I didn't want them booking open inspections and intrude further on our lives to show the place to new tenants and decided they didn't deserve extra notice. The days ticked by, a couple weeks went passed and my wife and I were busy getting ready to move. I didn't get contacted by the agent again... until my phone rang one week after the new paperwork was due, literally the day before we were moving out. It was the agent of course. They greeted me nicely and said it was just a reminder that we needed to sign the new lease and get it back to them. I told them, oh we aren't signing it, we bought a house and we're moving out tomorrow! The other end of the line went dead silent for a good few seconds while my face got stuck in a grin. The agent quietly asked why we hadn't told them and I said the paperwork only said to let them know if we were extending the lease, nothing about moving out so I assumed they knew. She said goodbye pretty quickly and the panic in her voice was glorious, she was screwed and knew it. I wish I got to hear more of the fallout but my wife and I moved out, cleaned the house over the remaining week and I handed the keys over. They never booked any open inspections in that final week so the house sat empty for a while waiting on new tenants and the landlords missed out on some rent payments. We also checked the listings and saw they advertised it at a lower price than what they were going to gouge us for. As a bonus - a couple days after the lease ended the agent called me and said our contact stated we had to have the carpets steam cleaned and they were going to take the cost from our bond. I told her we'd had them steam cleaned and she said we didn't, the carpets smelled like garbage! After me telling her again that we had she demanded a copy of the receipt. I emailed it through and never heard from them again...I didn't mention that there was a cavity under the house and the couple bags of rubbish I chucked under there as we were moving out because the bins were full. I guess the floor wasn't air tight. tldr; Paperwork says to sign a new lease and return by 2 weeks before end of current lease otherwise we had to move out. Agent assumed we were extending, we moved out without telling them. They ended up with an empty house and missed out on rent payments. submitted by /u/Xenoun to r/MaliciousCompliance [link] [comments]
