So I just bought a 17 back in January and I was not satisfied with the screen size and smoothness in apps so I returned it and got the 16 plus instead. I got to say this phone is performing better than the 17 for me and doesn’t have micro stutter on apps like the 17 does. I’ve had my iPhone 16 Plus for a little over a year now (since December 2024), and overall my experience has been excellent. Battery health currently sits at 92%, and for the majority of its life I’ve capped charging at 85% to reduce long-term battery stress. From a usage standpoint, this phone hasn’t lived an easy life. I’m currently training in the automotive technician field, so the device has been exposed to environments that are far from ideal: high ambient heat near exhaust manifolds, sitting on hot engine components, exposure to brake fluid and oil, and even occasional drops into water puddles at junkyards. Despite this, the phone continues to operate normally with no thermal warnings, no performance issues, and no hardware failures. For context, the device is currently at ~392 charge cycles, which I consider very reasonable given the workload and conditions it’s been subjected to. Even at 92% battery health, real-world battery life remains consistent and usable, especially with optimized charging enabled. Recently, my original case failed structurally due to wear, so I replaced it with a fully waterproof case to better protect the device moving forward. Given the environments I work in, this felt necessary rather than optional. From a durability, battery longevity, and reliability standpoint, I would absolutely buy this phone again. My plan is to keep it until Apple ends software support. Let me start of by saying that I'm not a fanboy of any particular brand. I switch phones regularly and also like to switch between iOS and Android. For the last year Ive been using an iPhone 16 Pro and had no issues with it whatsoever. The camera was good as always. The battery life however did disappoint me. Then I got the urge to switch to Android again and bought the Pixel 10 Pro. But wow, the battery life of that phone was horrendous. I sent it back after 1 week. I liked the Google OS and the camera's, but the battery life was a huge disappointment. I switched back to the 16 Pro and was considering getting the 17 Pro. Then the OnePlus 15 came out and immediately I was hooked on the looks. I did my research and concluded that I was okay with the camera being maybe a little bit worse than other flagship competitors. I was particularly intrigued by the RAM size, the CPU and the storage space. And so I got my first OnePlus phone ever. After daily driving it for 2 months, I can say that this is one of the best phones Ive ever owned. And I had a lot. Things In like the most about this phone: The design. I have the black version and I think it looks absolutely stunning. I like the materials used and it feels genuinely good in my hands. Speed. This phone is fast. Really fast. Switching between apps, doing intensive work, playing demanding games, its all easy for this phone. Really impressed. The OS. Maybe I will get hate for this, but I really like the design of the OS and the glass effects. Yes it looks like iOS, but who cares. As a person that uses both, this OS feels as nice or even better than what I had in my iPhone. Sound quality and screen. Playing music and watching videos is a joy in the phone. No complaints here. The screen is crisps and smooth. Fingerprint scanner. Blazing fast. Unlocks instantly. BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGE SPEED. I was shocked by the battery performance. Ive never had a phone that lasted this long. Two days, sometimes three. Thats crazy. And the charging speed is insane too. I used to charge my phones when I went to bed. Now I do it when I drink my morning coffee before going off to work. 20 minutes and Im good to go. Now lets about the cameras. My honest opinion? They are good. When I was doing my research before buying, I already had low expectations. But honestly, it exceeded my expections and I find them genuinely good. I am satisfied with the shots and videos. I got two kids that are my joy in life and I take a lot of pictures and videos of them and Ive never thought "wow this quality is shit" or "I dont like this photo". Now am I saying that the cameras are perfect? No, I liked the way my iPhone took videos better. Just more smooth. But that doesnt mean the video quality on this phone is bad. Its just okay and enough for my use case. Im no vlogger or YouTuber, so thats fine. When I compare the photos I took on my iPhone, my Pixel 9 Pro (returned the 10 but still have the 9) and my S24Ultra, honestly, there is not much difference between the photos in my eyes. Im no expert. But I like the portraits on my pixel 9 Pro the most. Just stands out. The selfie camera is good. Better then on my Pixel 9 Pro and about the same as my S24. Ultra. Side note, the IR remote app is amazing. And dont let the reviews online get in your head. Just do your own unbiased research. Ok so I got my half year old iPhone 16 plus in one of my hands and the iPhone air in the other. And I don’t know which one I should keep. I love phones with a large screen and even though there’s just 0.2 inch of difference, it still feels like iPhone air has a smaller screen. And it makes me feel like I’m downgrading (I love bigger screen sizes). On the other hand, promotion is nice but not something I need. Also, I used to use the iPhone 16 plus with an apple silicone case and it feels great, a bit bulky but I don’t have to be very careful with the device. For the air, I feel like it’s very delicate and I have to use caution when using it. Also, it’s not that grippy as using it with an apple silicone case, and they’re not selling any case like that. Tried the bumper and it’s still slippery. If I keep the 16 plus, I will get: A bigger battery A bigger screen Easier to hold (grippier) If I go for a third party case on the air, it will not be an “air” anymore and I feel like I’m downgrading for some reason. Just a year ago, I thought I’d never leave my comfort zone, that is iOS. I have been an Apple user for most of my smartphone life (before that: Nokia 5800 and a couple of BlackBerrys).   My phone journey:\ iPhone 6 (2014) → a couple of years.\ Galaxy S8+ → loved the curved display, broke it after a year.\ iPhone X → hooked on iOS.\ iPhone 13 Pro (Green) → loved it.\ iPhone 14 Pro → first Dynamic Island.\ iPhone 15 Pro Max → meh.\ iPhone 16 Pro → hated it – terrible battery life.   One day I walked past a Samsung Store, saw the S25 Ultra in Jade Green… wow. Stunning display, gorgeous colour. But I had the usual “ecosystem anxiety”, AirPods, Mac, Apple Watch, etc. Plus, it was 4,100 AED (~$1,120) in store, so I passed.   Fast forward to Fold 7 launch, saw its advert on insta and happen to check Samsung’s site, and the S25 Ultra Jade Green was listed for 3,600 AED ($980) with some added promo code. I sold my iPhone 16 Pro 256GB for 3,400 AED ($925) the same week (for some reason the country I reside in, iPhone hold crazy resale value, that is why it make sense to upgrade every year or two, even though facetime is banned here lol).   For $100 more, I got:\ Bigger, better display.\ Double the storage.\ Massive battery upgrade.\   Two weeks in, and here’s my verdict:\ Battery life = fantastic.\ Multi-window = game changer.\ AirPods work perfectly.\ Don’t miss the Apple Watch.\ Facetime is banned here, so WhatsApp rules anyway.\ Transfer from iOS via Smart Switch + Google One was too easy.\   Bonus: My wife also switched to an S25+, and with some promo points from that purchase, I got this Spigen Neo Hybrid case for free.   I can’t believe what I was missing all these years. So here's the story. I usually buy my phones (madalas second hand) sa US and just use a forwarder to ship it here. Last month, nakakita ako ng ad for an iPhone 16 pro sa Ebay for just $600, 128GB unlocked. Ang catch lang is fair condition, so madaming scratches and bumps sa screen. Sa body naman walang issue and the seller said that everything works and 100% pa battery capacity. By the way I still had the phone initially declared sa forwarder ko which is Buyandship when I first got the tracking number and nakalimutan ko na sya idelete and lumipas na ata mga ilang weeks ulit after that. Now di ko na kasi ininstall yung gmail sa phone so I haven't been checking my personal mail for awhile. Yung one time na nagcheck ako sa PC apparently may notification na pala ko for consolidation and payment from buyandship. Si buyandship kasi pagdating sa warehouse ng item, deretso na nya ishiship papuntang HK warehouse kahit wala pang payment. I did however contacted the seller na dumating na pala sa warehouse yung item, but apparently, nakuha na nya insurance so sabi nya, I should just keep it. Even using hydrogel screen protector won't do. But then I saw a video na pwede mo mahide scratches by using a UV glue + Tempered Glass. Kaso masyado mahal ang dome glass and walang nagsesell ng UV+tempered for iPhone 16 pro since di naman sya curved screen. So I just bought the UV glue from Shopee and a Ugreen Tempered Glass (ito kasi may guide para pwede ko mamove yung uv glue same sa domeglass installation).
