Looking for a men’s tailor for Jodhpuri suit in NYC
Hi! I’m looking for a tailor that specializes in desi men’s clothing in NYC. It’s for a jodhpuri suit that is too tight and will need to be tailored to be a bit bigger. Most tailors I’ve spoken to have most experience in women’s clothing. This is for our wedding so I really need it to be tailored well. Any leads are appreciated! Thank you! submitted by /u/zoomzoomresume to r/DesiWeddings [link] [comments]

Engagement suits for men: what to wear in 2026?
The search for the perfect engagement suits for men has evolved significantly. Today, men are moving away from generic formalwear and looking for outfits that create a strong visual identity. An engagement ceremony is a highly photographed event where first impressions matter. Your outfit communicates status, taste, and attention to detail. Whether you’re the groom or a guest, choosing the right engagement outfit is critical. The Goal: The ideal engagement suit combines elegance, comfort, and individuality while adapting to the venue, climate, and cultural expectations. What Should Men Wear for Engagement? Engagement ceremonies in India sit at the intersection of formal tailoring and contemporary fashion. They are typically less formal than the wedding but more elevated than a standard party. When selecting your look, consider the Venue (indoor vs. outdoor), Time (day vs. evening), and Season (summer vs. winter). Popular Style Choices: Tailored Suits: For formal elegance. Blazer Combinations: For semi-formal looks. Jodhpuri Suits: For that perfect ethnic-modern hybrid. Three-Piece Suits: For a premium, "main character" presence. Best Types of Engagement Suits Classic Two-Piece Suit: The most versatile option. It offers a clean silhouette and works for almost any "formal suit" requirement. Three-Piece Suit: Adds depth and sophistication. The waistcoat enhances your structure and keeps you looking sharp even if you take your jacket off. Jodhpuri Suit: A kingly hybrid of traditional and modern wear. Highly popular for Indian engagements where heritage meets style. Blazer + Trousers: A relaxed, stylish option for younger audiences or contemporary, "sundowner" events. Best Colors & Fabrics Top Color Picks: Navy Blue: Timeless, powerful, and versatile. Charcoal Grey: Formal and refined. Beige / Cream: The gold standard for daytime or summer engagements. Pastels: Sage green or dusty pink are modern and trending for 2026. Black: Reserved for high-end evening/black-tie events. Fabric Choice (Crucial for Indian Summers): Linen: Lightweight and breathable for outdoor events. Tropical Wool: Structured but breathable for AC venues. Cotton: High comfort for long-duration ceremonies. Engagement Suit Styling Tips Details transform a basic suit into a complete engagement look: Pocket Squares: Use these for a pop of contrast. Footwear: Choose leather oxfords for formal suits or loafers for a relaxed look. Accessories: A classic wristwatch is always better than heavy jewelry. Looking for the perfect fit? If you're in Hyderabad, Blutailor in Jubilee Hills specializes in premium bespoke tailoring for grooms and engagement wear. visit www.blutailor.com for more informations. submitted by /u/MrMbogne to r/BestTailorsinIndia [link] [comments]

Shopping guide in Gorakhpur
Hey everyone! I’m originally from Gorakhpur but haven’t really lived here most of my life. Recently moved back since I’m working remotely now. I have a few engagement/wedding events coming up and I’m looking to buy men’s ethnic wear — things like Indo-western outfits, bandhgala/Jodhpuri suits, sherwanis, or other wedding-appropriate traditional wear. Since I’m not very familiar with the shopping scene here, I’d love some recommendations for good stores or markets in Gorakhpur where I can find nice options (preferably decent quality, modern styles). Any suggestions would really help. Thanks! submitted by /u/Isopod_Alone to r/Gorakhpur [link] [comments]

Titan Skinn Nox Perfume Review. Underrated special occasion men fragrance
Titan Skinn Nox is one of the less talked about fragrance. I'm sharing this review as the best time to wear this fragrance has arrived. In general, Skinn fragrances are not much spoken of and from what I have observed, people have either love it or hate it relationship with this Indian fragrance brand by Titan a well know Tata brand. Probably, not most Indian fragrance lovers know that Skinn lineup of perfumes was created by popular perfumers. Harry Fremont, Michel Girard, Fabrice Pellegrin, Nadege Le Garlantezec, Alberto Morillas, Olivier Pescheux and Nathalie Lorson are behind the Skinn perfume lineup. Among this list, Alberto Morillas, Olivier Pescheux and Nathalie Lorson are some of the best known perfumers. The company has never highlighted or mentioned it in their promotion except in some places. Titan Nox is an excellent fragrance for those special occasions like marriage, engagement ceremonies etc. Often people have asked which fragrance to wear for their own or their loved ones marriage in this subreddit but this has often been ignored. It is one of the best perfumes by Skinn that lasts quite long. Titan Nox fragrance notes: Top notes- saffron, cardamom, and bark Middle notes - patchouli, sandalwood, and caramel Base notes - amber, vanilla, and musk Scent profile of Titan Skinn Nox Upon spraying the Nox it fills the air with spicy opening. The closest association I have with the opening is Lattafa Qaaed. Nox however differs from Qaaed as it has creamy undertone and probably some elements of vanilla whereas Lattafa Qaaed is largely spicy opening. Both Skinn Nox and Lattafa Qaaed have some similar notes- cardamom, saffron, amber, and vanilla. Once the fragrance settles the creamy spicy elements are what I can smell. Some fragrance users have even mentioned Nox in its dry down smells like Tom Ford Noir Extreme but I have not tried Noir Extreme. Nox is not a clone or inspired fragrance based on what I know. It is an original creation by perfumers, details mentioned later in the review. Titan Skinn Nox projection and logevity It projects quite well for the first 3-4 hours. It lasts 8-10 hours. On some clothes, one can feel the faint smell well past 24 hours depending on fabric. Best occasions to wear Titan Skinn Nox It is a special occasion fragrance which means it is not suitable for daily wear. In summer, it can become cloying after applying 2-4 sprays. If using in summer, one spray is good enough in air conditioned environment. Even though I have tried many other special occasion fragrances, Skinn Nox is one of the fragrances that I reach out quite often. I feel this is best suited when you wear Kurta Pajama, Jodhpuri or Sherwani as it is an oriental fragrance. Many people suggest oud based fragrances for such ocasions but I feel oud is a difficult note. The notes in Nox are much better and though not mass pleasing but are still better than oud. The fragrance notes have been combined and blended very well. Not many people know but Titan skinn fragrances have been created by French perfumers. Perfumers who created Titan Skinn Nox & Knox Titan Skinn Nox lineup fragrances was created by french perfumers Jordi Fernández and Dalia Izem . Skinn also has female version Knox created by these duo but I have not tried this. Summary I will suggest men looking for special occasion winter fragrance to try Skinn Nox. Their testers are available in their stores and also in stores like lifestyle & shoppers stop. A 100ml Nox bottle will last for at least 2-3 years. Last time i checked their site, they also had 20ml version in as someone wants to order online. Skinn Nox is a mass pleasing special occasion fragrance but certainly not a safe blind buy perfume. submitted by /u/rkathotia to r/PerfumeIndia [link] [comments]

Best designer stores for men’s ethnic wear in Jaipur ? (₹25k–₹1L range)
Hey guys, I’m from Jaipur and looking to pick up some good-quality men’s ethnic wear — mainly Jodhpuri suits, bandhgalas, or Indo-Western outfits for upcoming functions. I want something well-tailored and stylish but not over-the-top flashy. Budget is roughly between ₹25k to ₹1L. Would love suggestions for local designers or boutiques in Jaipur that are known for premium fabrics, modern cuts, and clean finishing. Indian men suffer from victim mentality
In Indian society, the responsibility of wearing traditional clothes is mostly put on women. They are seen as the carriers of culture and are judged harshly if they wear modern or Western clothes. Men, however, face little to no pressure and can dress casually or in Western wear without criticism. This double standard is rooted in patriarchy, where women’s appearance is linked to family honor and tradition, while men are allowed more freedom and comfort. There is a plethora of reels, and shorts, shaming Indian women for not wearing traditional Indian clothes but you won't find a single reels or shorts of Indian men being shamed for not wearing traditional clothes like dhoti and kurta. A 17 years old girl was killed by her father and uncle for wearing jeans. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-57968350.amp While Indian men only wear Western clothes even in weddings and festivals and at places of worship. Why the onus/burden of wearing traditional clothes only on Indian women? submitted by /u/halfhumanhalfgoddess to r/feminazi_misandrist [link] [comments]

The Costumes of Rajasthan: A Royal Tapestry of Color, Culture, and Craft
Rajasthan isn’t just known for its deserts, forts, and palaces—it’s a land where every thread tells a story. From elaborate turbans to richly embroidered lehengas, the costumes of Rajasthan reflect its proud history, diverse communities, and vibrant spirit. This post dives deep into the traditional attire of Rajasthan, exploring not only what people wear, but why they wear it—unraveling centuries of symbolism, identity, and artistry. 🧔 Traditional Rajasthani Attire for Men 1. Pagri (Turban): The Crown of Honor The turban, or pagri, isn’t just a head covering—it’s a symbol of pride, honor, and regional identity. Styles vary by region: The Jaipuri safa, Jodhpuri pagri, and Mewari turban all have unique wrapping styles. Colors matter: Bright red, yellow, and saffron are worn on weddings and festivals; while duller colors indicate mourning. Tying a turban is an art, often passed down through generations. 2. Angrakha & Bandhgala: Royal Elegance Angrakha is a long-sleeved, flared tunic with overlapping panels, often made of cotton or silk and decorated with embroidery. Bandhgala (also called Jodhpuri suit) is a closed-neck coat that became formal wear during the Rajput and British eras. 3. Dhoti or Churidar: The Bottom Garments Worn with the angrakha, dhotis are long unstitched cloths wrapped around the waist and legs. In colder or formal regions, churidar pajamas are also common. 4. Accessories Kamarbandh (waist belt): Tied around the waist, often decorated. Mojari or Jutti: Traditional leather footwear, handcrafted with embroidery. Jewelry: Yes, Rajasthani men traditionally wore earrings, rings, and even necklaces as symbols of valour and lineage. 👩 Traditional Rajasthani Attire for Women 1. Ghagra (Skirt), Choli (Blouse), and Odhni (Veil) The traditional outfit worn by Rajasthani women is known as Ghagra Choli, often paired with an Odhni (dupatta/veil). Ghagra: A long, flared skirt made of cotton, silk, or georgette, often adorned with mirror work, gota-patti, bandhani (tie-dye), or embroidery. Choli: A tightly fitted blouse, which may vary in sleeve length and style. Odhni: A veil or scarf that covers the head and shoulders, often beautifully printed or embroidered. Each color and motif carries cultural meaning. For example: Red is often worn by newlyweds. Yellow is common during festivals. Black is traditionally avoided during auspicious events. 2. Jewelry: Symbol of Marital and Social Status Borla: A rounded maang tikka worn on the forehead. Nath: Nose ring, sometimes large and attached to the ear with a chain. Bajubandh, Bangles, and Payal: Armlets, bangles, and anklets are considered essential for married women. Bichhiya: Toe rings worn by married women. Rakhdi, Timaniya, and Aad: Regional varieties of heavy neck jewelry. 3. Tribal Variations Rajasthan is home to many tribal communities—each with its own distinct costume. Banjara Women wear heavily embroidered outfits with mirror work and chunky silver jewelry. Bhil and Meena women often wear simpler versions with vibrant colors and handmade jewelry. Rabari women can be seen in black woolen garments with red embroidery, reflecting nomadic lifestyle influences. 🧵 The Craftsmanship Behind the Costumes What makes Rajasthani costumes truly remarkable is the handcrafted artistry involved. Here's a look at some of the key techniques: Bandhani (Tie-Dye): Intricate dot patterns created by tightly tying fabric and dyeing it. Common in Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Jaipur. Leheriya: A wave-pattern dyeing technique, seen in dupattas and turbans. Gota Patti Work: Embroidery using gold and silver ribbons, often seen on bridal wear. Zari and Zardozi: Heavy embroidery using metallic threads for ceremonial outfits. Mirror and Patchwork: Popular in desert regions like Barmer and Jaisalmer. These costumes aren’t mass-produced—they’re woven with time, patience, and tradition. 🌈 The Colors of Rajasthan: More Than Just Aesthetic Rajasthan’s harsh desert climate has shaped not just its architecture but also its fashion. The locals use bright colors to contrast the arid surroundings—making everyday wear visually joyful. Bright hues like red, yellow, pink, orange, and blue are symbolic of celebration and life. Darker colors are worn in winters or mourning. Colors often denote caste, marital status, or region. 🎉 When to See Traditional Costumes in Action Want to witness these costumes come alive? Plan your trip around: Teej & Gangaur Festivals (Jaipur, Udaipur): Colorful parades with traditional wear. Pushkar Camel Fair: Villagers dress in their finest to trade camels and celebrate. Desert Festival (Jaisalmer): Cultural performances and fashion displays. Weddings & Folk Dances: Rajasthani dances like Ghoomar and Kalbeliya are performed in full costume. 📷 Final Thoughts: More Than Just Clothing Rajasthani costumes aren’t just garments—they’re living expressions of identity, pride, artistry, and history. They show us how clothing can reflect a region’s climate, its values, its past, and its dreams. So the next time you see a twirling ghagra or a majestic turban, remember—you’re not just looking at fabric, but at the soul of Rajasthan stitched into every seam. submitted by /u/rttoi to r/rajasthantours [link] [comments]

Outfits for men for Indian wedding
Hello, I will be attending a wedding at the end of this year in India. There are several functions like mehndi, ring ceremony, cocktail night, vidai, and wedding ceremony. I haven't worn Indian clothes in a long time so I am clueless about what to wear other than western suits, so I have some questions. What online shop or an Indian shop on the US east coast offers good fitting, natural fabric Indian outfits? All stores I checked online like Kalki have stiff made of rayon or other artificial material which I would rather not get. I am thinking of having one of the outfits as a half Nehru jacket with nice shirt and pants for vidai or mehndi. Is this an acceptable outfit? For the wedding, I'm thinking of going with a Jodhpuri suit. Something like this - https://www.kalkifashion.com/classic-blue-bandhgala-jodhpuri-sherwani-set.html?currency=USD&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjY64BhCaARIsAIfc7YZgLcBh6Bo9L9awxcL4CnlpNZL3dC_RwQzE2asCM-rAWTNmKpfvtIcaAmPEEALw_wcB. Is this acceptable or should I stick to a traditional western suit? Should I incorporate a simple kurta pajama for phere? I appreciate all advice. Please help! submitted by /u/whisperingdeath7 to r/IndianFashionAddicts [link] [comments]

Americans Wearing Jodhpuri suit for a wedding
Is it okay as a white American male to wear a Jodhpuri suit as a guest to a white American wedding? I like the look of the suits and how well put together it looks compared to traditional suits in the US. However, I'm unsure if doing so would be inappropriate as far as culture appropriation. Any South Asian men's wear website recommendations? Or US-based tailors?
I'm looking for a Bandhgala/Jodhpuri suit to wear as a groom. I've tried looking at Aza and Manyavar but I'd like something a bit more minimal like this, or this but without the pocket detail. Looking for websites or US-based tailors who can create/alter these well. I could probably swing Canada too. Really appreciate any recommendations! submitted by /u/goodshotjanson to r/DesiWeddings [link] [comments]
