Palm brush recommendations? Or kabuki if you don't have a palm rec?
Hello! So my favorite palm brush, which I have been using every day for the Lord knows how many years, has finally taken its last breaths, and they no longer make it. I really like palm brushes, or at least this one, for its extremely dense bristles that are close together, making blending things out a breeze. They aren't stiff or hard or anything like that. So if you have any recommendations, I would be really grateful because there's just something about holding it right in the palm of my hand and going crazy buffing that I just love. Second, if you can't think of a high-quality palm brush that you would recommend, I would gladly also take Kabuki brush recommendations. Now, I have never tried a Kabuki brush, but when I googled it, it said that it also has those dense bristles that are close together and that it blends things like a charm. I don't know if this would be the better option for me because I go crazy. I used my palm brush to literally blend everything, like I'm talking foundation, contour, and blush. I mean, honestly, it went crazy. But I'm in desperate need either way. Also, R.I.P. palm brush, A.K.A. Scrub Papi, A.K.A. Sir Blends-a-Lot. p.p.a. i just had I eye surgery....So if there are major issues with spellin/punctuation, please forgive me bc: mostly blind submitted by /u/yourdadlovesmebest to r/Sephora [link] [comments]

why can i never get a seamless foundation application when i use brushes?? So streaky
am i the only person that never has luck using brushes to blend out my foundation and concealer? I see all these videos of people using brushes and their base looks so seamless. When I do it it’s so streaky. I’ve tried lower end brushes but also both of the danessa myricks foundation and kabuki style brush (meant for the yummy skin blurring balm that I use as my foundation). Jerome Alexander MagicMinerals AirBrush Foundation Review
If you’ve ever looked at your liquid foundation and thought, “What if this came in a spray can?”, then Jerome Alexander basically said, hold my kabuki brush. The MagicMinerals AirBrush Foundation is one of those products that sounds way fancier than its price tag... a $15–$24 aerosol foundation that promises airbrushed skin on a drugstore budget. I tested it, got mist all over my bathroom sink, and have some thoughts. Let’s break it down. First Impressions So, it comes in a sleek 70ml spray can bigger than your average 30ml foundation bottle, which already feels like a win. You can buy it solo (around $20) or as a full-on kit ($60) that includes a primer, setting spray, and a kabuki brush that... tries its best. At first glance, the spray delivery system gave me Dior AirFlash flashbacks (RIP to that overpriced legend). It’s definitely nostalgic like the early 2010s era of “airbrush everything” but also, it’s aerosol. Translation: you’re about to spray foundation mist into the air like it’s body spray. So, maybe don’t do this while wearing a white shirt, lol. Texture & Application The formula itself is actually really nice. Lightweight, a bit wet at first, but it melts into the skin easily and gives that smooth, velvety feel. Here’s the deal though: Don’t spray it directly on your face. You’ll waste product and potentially tint your walls. Spray onto a brush or palette and then blend in circular motions. that’s the move. The included brush works, but mine shed a few bristles mid-blend (rude). I swapped it for a flat-top brush and got a much more even finish. I’d also recommend applying it over a sink or towel because the overspray is real. If you’re a neat freak, brace yourself. Coverage & Finish Here’s where things get interesting, the coverage is a bit of a “choose your own adventure.” One reviewer swore it’s sheer to light, maybe medium at best. Another said it can go full coverage if you layer it up. Personally, I’d say it’s light to medium, leaning natural. You’ll still see your skin through it, which I actually like. It blurs things rather than completely masking them, so if you want that “your skin but better” glow, you’ll vibe with it. It gives a soft, slightly dewy finish that looks great in daylight. But if you’ve got oily skin, you’ll probably need a bit of setting powder around the T-zone because it does get a little shiny after a few hours. Bonus points: it doesn’t cling to dry patches or fine lines. My skin looked surprisingly smooth, no cakey spots even after a long day. Shade Range & Match There are 12 shades, which is... fine, but not amazing. We’re in 2025; I expect more. The “Light Medium” shade blended beautifully on my skin. no orange weirdness. But if you’re super fair or really deep-toned, the options get thin fast. It does blend easily though, so you can fudge it a bit if the match isn’t perfect. Still, test your shade if you can. Ingredients & Skin Feel Here’s where it gets a little messy. The formula includes skin-friendly stuff like hyaluronic acid (hydration hero) and argireline (the peptide that’s like baby botox). It feels nice on the skin and didn’t irritate or break me out, big win for sensitive types. But then there’s the not-so-fun part: butane, propane, fragrance, and octinoxate. Yeah. Basically, the stuff that makes it sprayable isn’t exactly “clean beauty.” I’m not saying it’s unsafe, but it’s not something I’d want to use every single day. Think special occasion, not daily wear. Longevity & Setting Longevity is solid, it looked good for about 6–7 hours before I noticed fading. It doesn’t cake or separate, which is impressive for something this lightweight. If you get the kit, there’s also a setting spray, but fair warning: it smells strong. Like, hairspray-strong. It does help the makeup last, but the scent made me slightly regret my life choices for about 30 seconds, lol. Pros & Cons What I Loved: Feels weightless and natural Smooth, airbrushed finish without feeling cakey Doesn’t irritate sensitive skin Affordable, especially compared to Dior AirFlash Actually fun to apply (once you get the hang of it) What I Didn’t Love: Overspray everywhere, prepare for cleanup Shade range could be way better Butane and fragrance make it a no-go for daily use The included brush sheds like a stressed-out cat Slightly shiny finish needs powder if you’re oily Final Thoughts Honestly? I kinda love it… with an asterisk. It’s one of those products that makes your skin look naturally smooth and glowy, perfect for “I want to look good but not like I tried” days. It’s budget-friendly, nostalgic, and feels lightweight enough for summer or casual wear. But between the messy spray situation, limited shades, and not-so-clean ingredients, it’s not something I’d use every day. More like a “special occasion or I’m feeling lazy but still want flawless skin” kind of product. If you’ve been missing Dior AirFlash or just want to experiment with spray foundations without spending $70, this one’s absolutely worth a try. Just maybe keep a towel handy… and an open window. submitted by /u/Known_Economist_3791 to r/BeautyItemsReview [link] [comments]

Danessa Myricks Teardrop Kabuki Brush
There has been some conversation on this sub about the blurring balms by DM- now I will start with that the translucent balms are all that and a bag of chips. They are really really great with oil control and smoothing out the skin! And they last all day with no need to touch up. That being said I generally apply my balm with a flat foundation brush, like the Morphe V100 (you can apply the balm with your fingers too!) While the flat foundation brush does an effective job I find that the brush was picking up and apply a lot of product to my face a little too easily and that a lot of product sat in the brush as well and dirties it pretty quick. I decided to try Danessa Myricks kubuki and honestly guys- chefs kiss. It’s great. It’s dense and doesn’t pick up too much product and applies the product so nicely and doesn’t leave much behind. The shape works great for different parts of the face. I have found that the product feels more evenly spread and thinner on my face while still performing in the way that I love. It feels luxurious and good quality and has a nice weight to it. I like the way it feels on my face. It’s $33 and I don’t like spending lots of money on brushes but sometimes the investment is worth it. It also comes with a little stand which I love. Highly recommend. Not sponsored, just wanted to share my love for it and give credit where it’s due. submitted by /u/-this_bitch- to r/Sephora [link] [comments]

Re: Make-up Sponge or Brush?
I prefer a make-up sponge to a brush for liquid foundation and prefer applying a tinted moisturizer with my fingers. I have only used the Real Technique sponge. My favorite brush is the Elf kabuki brush. I use that for powder foundation or bronzer.

I use and like these- MAC 170 and Fenty Beauty Kabuki. Fenty Kauki Brush- had it for years so I am not sure if they still sell it. Also, TBH they all soak up alot of foundation but they give me the look and coverage I need. I have never seen a brush you will not need to clean and I have 100s of them. If don't keep them clean you start to break out.

Which Sigma brush for best foundation results?
I’m debating between these three Sigma brushes. I’m not experienced with makeup at all! I am 30 years old and asian with some cute freckles. I use Kosas Revealer Skin-Improving Foundation SPF 25 foundation (Shade 200). I might try a stick foundation that my favorite singer (Laufey) uses called Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick (need to figure out shade). I can’t get my foundation to be smooth with Amazon brushes or a blender brush. The foundation looks patchy. I want to try contour and concealer. But just can’t get a good foundation base with my current applicators. Looking for a new kabuki brush to buff on mineral powder foundation. 😊
Hi all. 🙂 Looking for recommendations for a good kabuki brush to buff on mineral powder makeup. I used to use a mini kabuki brush from ELF which was amazing. After having it for a good 5-6 years, it has become very scratchy so I thought I would try to find another one. I managed to find the same one I ordered before and placed a new order. Unfortunately, when the new brush arrived, it was not the same brush at all. It looks and feels much fluffier, and it's so floppy and cannot hold any product, let alone apply any to the skin. The old brush was very dense and from the first use, could apply my mineral powder makeup near flawlessly with good coverage. (Please see photos included of old version of the ELF brush, and the newer version). Does anyone have any recommendations for a similar brush to the OLD Elf one I've posted here? Would greatly appreciate any recommendations. x submitted by /u/Daxmunro to r/makeuptips [link] [comments]

Foundation & Blusher Brush Recs/Seasonal Sets
I'm looking for some higher end brushes for foundation and blusher brush. I've got a lovely chunky NARS brush which I use for all over face power and definitely notice the difference between that and cheaper ones. Although for eyeshadow brushes I'm happen with H&M/Real Techniques. For the Blusher brush I tend to prefer a larger rounder lighter touch than an angled style, I've been looking at Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Brush or Bobbi Brown Bronzer Brush. For a Foundation Brush I normally use a more stiff/kabuki brush as it's for liquid and cream foundation. I'm looking at Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation Brush or Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Complexion Brush or Zoeva Foundation Duo Brush. A set is sometimes better value so the Sigma Ultimate Essentials Brush Set caught my eye as it has both foundation and blusher brushes (most seem to have just angled brushes. But, what do you guys recommend for foundation and blush (I know to avoid Morphe!) and especially if there's any good Christmas sets out at the moment? I'm in UK so that might limit some options. Are Hourglass, Charlotte Tilbury etc worth the extra money? submitted by /u/txteva to r/MakeupAddiction [link] [comments]

Looking for a replacement super dense powder foundation / kabuki brush. RIP Tarte Airbuki!
Hi all! My trusty old Tarte Airbuki Bamboo Powder foundation brush is ready to retire. I'ts served me well but past its prime :( Looking for something a little easier to hold (that one was super thick :) and a little longer. I LOVED the very dense, short hairs and it gave great coverage with all my powder foundations over the years. I am in a hot / humid climate (so no liquid foundations!) with combination oily and flaky skin, some larger pores. I use various medium coverage liquid concealers and powder foundations over to set and for another layer of coverage. Looking for something that packs it on, but won't aggrivate flaking. Some older threads mentioned the ones from It Cosmetics, Sigma, Sephora and a few others but most of them seemed a bit less dense than I'm used to and I hate the flat topped ones :( I found nothing on display at Sephora that I liked - the Sephora 70 wasn't bad but just not quite right. I do like the look and reviews of both the Hourglass Retractable Kabuki and Vanish Foundation brushes - I'm picking up a few concealer brushes of theirs so was thinking of adding these 2...but wondering if anyone has some good suggestions to check out. I use it daily so any price point is ok. Thanks all! https://preview.redd.it/hjfoyznzv3cd1.jpg?width=647&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=982982708d4b8c30cf2f544cee0be2a7270a19f1 submitted by /u/sobenyc10011 to r/beauty [link] [comments]

Thanks all! https://preview.redd.it/yi208wxkl0cd1.jpg?width=647&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72a29c56beac1770d905f9554691684f663d430a https://preview.redd.it/m5vh1dpv3xfd1.jpg?width=1150&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78c5c4de68188243dac52446265e6b9dfc1ad241 submitted by /u/sobenyc10011 to r/MakeupAddiction [link] [comments]

Recommendation for a powder foundation? Also what is your preference for application? Brush (flat top kabuki, fluffy or other) or sponge or puff?

Any tips on cleaning dense foundation brushes?
I have a huge dense paddle brush I love, which is also super thick and dense and I can never get all the foundation off the very middle of the brush off! No matter what i use, shampoo, bar soap, liquid face wash, Daiso puff detergent, it doesn't seem to penetrate the very middle even if I part the bristles and rub in the middle. I get a very foamy lather and try to scrub in the middle, but as the bristles are very tight and dense they don't budge. I am worried about destroying the glue so i don't dare to scrub too hard or try to bend the bristles too much. Any tips? If it was a regular kabuki, i would just get all up in there but these bristles do NOT BUDGE. They're impossibly tight and do not want to bend. submitted by /u/bubuthepoo to r/Makeup [link] [comments]

[SELL] CAN>Anywhere: Huge Destash- Eyeshadow & Blush Palettes, Kat Von D ELL, Stila, Tarte, Cargo, UD, Tons of Mini Mascaras & Lip products, Light Foundations, Brushes & More
Please help me de-stash and pay off some bills :) I have way too much stuff that I never reach for and just want to downsize and de-clutter so not looking to swap at the moment except for hakuhodo brushes. I haven't done a ton of exchanges on reddit yet, but have swapped on swapidu and have all positive feedback, as well as sold on ebay for years with 100% positive feedback. Feel free to PM me for my usernames on those sites. Shipping Minimum $10 purchase, shipping from Canada to anywhere (as long as you cover the extra shipping cost). I will weigh the items and charge the actual shipping cost. I will ship asap after receiving payment, could take me 2-3 days though as I have kids/work/school so not able to get to the post office every day before it closes. Payment Paypal only, friends & family preferred but I don't mind invoicing as long as you are okay to cover the fees. If invoicing through paypal, I will need to send with a trackable shipping option. Prices are in USD to make it easier as I think the majority of people here are US based. I'm trying to get rid of things as soon as possible so I don't really want to do holds. I put some free with purchase items throughout, feel free to pick one for each $10 purchase Thanks for Looking!
