Paperwhite vs Signature Edition?
I have decided to buy a new kindle for myself. I have an older paperwhite already and I’ve been fully happy with it but I’m unsure if I should buy the “standard paperwhite” or the SE. I’d love to hear your experiences with these models. Is the SE worth the extra price? Also, on an unrelated note… WHY don’t they make the paperwhite in matcha? That’s so annoying 😆 submitted by /u/LilKatieHQ to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Kindle Paperwhite vs Paperwhite Signature
I am probably overthinking this. I am planning on buying a Kindle and have decided to go with the Paperwhite because it meets all of my needs. If I plan on paying to remove the Ads from the standard paperwhite ($180 total) would it make sense just to get the Signature edition ($200) which comes with the Ads already removed? My personal opinion is that the $20 difference would be worth the extra features, such as wireless charging, But a $40 difference has been leaning towards the standard Paperwhite. I have also never owned a Kindle, so I do not know how obtrusive the Ads really are. Are they worth removing in the first place? submitted by /u/powerfist89 to r/ereader [link] [comments]

Kindle Basic vs Paperwhite SE screen color - am I overthinking this?
Hey Kindle people! I have two 2024 Kindles, a Paperwhite Signature Edition and the Basic.Even with the warmth set to 0 on the Paperwhite, the Basic still looks way colder and more blue. Is this just a normal difference between the displays/front lights, or could my Basic be faulty and worth replacing? Anyone else notice this? submitted by /u/borntoshinie to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Kobo Clara BW vs Kindle Paperwhite – Which is better for offline/sideloaded reading
Hey everyone, I’m trying to decide between the Kobo Clara BW and the Kindle Paperwhite (latest or Signature edition) or any other affordable option. My main use will be reading novels offline and sideloading EPUBs/PDFs, so I don’t necessarily want to buy books from the store. I’ve heard that Kindles can be a bit restrictive in terms of file types and Amazon’s ecosystem, while Kobo is more “open.” On the other hand, Kindle seems to have better display quality and battery life. Has anyone used both? Which would you recommend for someone who mostly reads sideloaded books? Any pros/cons I should know about? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Nezuko143 to r/kobo [link] [comments]

Kindle Paperwhite vs Signature vs Colorsoft — is there a real difference in the reading experience?
Hi everyone! I currently have a basic Kindle (10th gen) and I’m thinking about upgrading during Black Friday. I’m considering: • Kindle Paperwhite • Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition • Kindle Colorsoft For someone who mostly reads regular books (and only occasionally manga/illustrated stuff), which one is the best choice? If you’ve tried any of them, I’d love to hear your opinion. Thanks! 📚 submitted by /u/mju_rz to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Kindle Paperwhite 2024 vs Colorsoft Signature Edition – is the screen yellowish on both?
Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone here has experience with both devices. I currently have a Kindle Paperwhite 2024, and the screen looks pretty yellow to me. It’s darker/yellower at the bottom and fades upward, but overall the whole display has a yellowish tint, which is a bit distracting when reading. I’m thinking about switching to a Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, but I’m worried that it might have the same issue — either a yellow tint across the whole screen, or a yellow bar at the bottom. So I’d love to hear from anyone who owns both (or has compared them in person): Is the Colorsoft screen yellow as well? If yes, is it the entire display or just a yellow band at the bottom? Are there any settings (brightness, warmth, auto-adjustments) that improve this on the Colorsoft? And overall, do you feel it’s worth upgrading from the Paperwhite to the Colorsoft in terms of screen quality, reading experience, and build? Thanks in advance for any insights! 🙏 submitted by /u/Glad-Most6032 to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Kindle - signature vs paper white
Hey everyone, I just ran into something odd and wanted to check with the community: My local provider told me that the latest Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024, 32 GB) does have ads (“Special Offers”). even though on Amazon.com, there is no option to choose between “with ads” or “ad-free” for that model. Can anyone here confirm whether there is an ad-free version of the 2024 Signature Edition? Or is Amazon only offering the ad-supported model now? Kindle Paperwhite 10th gen vs Kindle Paperwhite signature 12th gen
I was very tempted by the 12th gen since it came out, but was also very attached to my perfectly functional Paperwhite 10th gen, so I finally pulled the trigger and I'm not sorry. There are enough new features so that the upgrade makes sense to me, but most importantly the long awaited usb c port, and the rest... just overall quality of life small improvements. The size difference is more noticeable than expected, the 12th is quite a bit larger, but it's still comfortable, and I love that there's more text on the page, feels more like a book. Another thing I love is the double tap for page flipping, very handy. Late to the party, but Kindle Paperwhite 12th gen signature edition is definitely one of the better releases so far and I feel like I will keep this one for even longer, now that I'm not missing out on the warm light and auto-brightness, etc...I won't have fomo again for the upcoming models, there's no possible feature that could improve the experience of an ereader in any way that would be relevant for me, it's made for reading and it does the job perfectly in most situations and conditions. submitted by /u/SinkFew to r/kindle [link] [comments]

My thoughts - Kindle Paperwhite 2024 vs Kobo Libra Colour vs Kobo Clara BW
I thought I'd share my thoughts on these devices, on the off chance it helps someone else with their decision making. First, I like all three - almost too much, because often I want to use one I'm not! If you end up chosing any of these three, I think you've got a very good ereader. For context, since 2020 my primary eReader had been a Kindle Oasis. I liked the screen, but the battery life wasn't great and with a case on holding it felt awkward - the flat front made it a weird triangular shape when folded behind during reading. In 2022 I bought a scribe (new thing), and while I loved its thinness and screen, I only really used it sitting in an armchair. Not curled up in bed, not on my commute. It proved much more convenient just to use my phone in these circumstances. When the new Kobos came out I pretty quickly succumbed to the temptation of a colour ereader. Did I need colour? No. But new and shiny (see above). I chose the Libra colour, thinking it was essentially a like-for-like replacement of my Oasis but with the following advantages: Not locked into the Amazon ecosystem Retained the page turn buttons and 'handle' Flat back Better battery Colour (albeit in my use case this just meant covers in colour) Stylus support, so I could use it as a notebook. For 6 months it was my main ereader, and I still really like it. But to summarise my thoughts on it: The software was great and very liberating compared to Amazon. The screen is grainy, which is fine - it just looks like textured paper. I quite liked that aspect. But it's also dark, and in just about any lighting condition the built in light is required. This I found noticable and I felt more like I was using a screen than on my Kindles. The device felt quite wide, particularly in its Sleepcover case which adds a stylus holder. This meant it was often more comfortable to hold two handed, which wasn't always comfortable (standing on a train, lying on my side in bed). The lop-sided nature due to the buttons and large bezel means when changing hand you have to rotate the device. This is very, very minor but I did find it distracting sometimes and took me away from the book. For my personal use case, the stylus was a completely unnecessary feature. Colour was unnecessary 95% of the time. So a great device, and the above sounds more negative than I feel about it, but not perfect. Then Amazon announced new Kindles. I succumbed for the second time in the year, and got the 2024 Paperwhite. I got the jade green signature edition. Thoughts on using this for 6 months: Superb screen. This was the reason I got it - it offered me a screen the quality of my Scribe, but in a more portable form. 'Send to Kindle' and Whispersync. There wasn't much I missed from Amazon on the software side, but I did use these features a lot to swap between PC / Phone / Kindle. The device feels very premium. I love the jade green and flush screen. Rectangular shape - felt much more natural to move from one hand to the other, and it is lighter than then Libra colour. No need to rotate the device! Distraction free, in that regard at least. ~75% of my books are from Amazon, so it was familiar and easy to return. Then Amazon stopped with the 'Download and Transfer' option, and I became more wary of being locked into that ecosystem. I missed the Kobo software. So my thoughts strayed to the Kobo Clara BW. Could I have the best of both worlds? Kobo software with an excellent black and white screen. After a couple of months of thinking about it, yesterday I bit the bullet. The main hestiation, beyond having several perfectly functional devices, was the smaller screen. I like the 7" form. But, from 2011-2020 I had a 6" screen kindle, so I hoped I'd adjust back quickly, and so far it feels pretty natural. Initial thoughts on the Clara BW: It feels the purest ereader, which is part nostaglia with the recessed screen taking me back to my first kindle but also part not requiring any backlight in most daytime situations so far. Screen is great. Perhaps not quite Paperwhite level, although I don't think you'd notice and the Clara has less glare anyway due to the lack of an extra layer of glass for the flushed screen. Very easy to hold. So far, so good. Will have to decide if I'm selling the others - clearly I don't actually need all 3. But I do like them all... Paperwhite would be easiest to jettison now, but it still feels the most premium of the three. Attached photos are all at 0% brightness, just for comparisons sake. Anyway, if anyone is like me and struggles to chose devices, then perhaps some of the above is of interest. submitted by /u/Mattzo12 to r/kobo [link] [comments]

Kindle paperwhite vs signature edition
Is the price difference worth it if the only feature I’m interested in is the auto-adjusting brightness? I suppose the additional storage could be a nice perk as well, but 16gbs seems fine since I don’t read manga/graphic novels/comics. The color options aren’t really a huge selling point for me either. submitted by /u/Adventurous_Bric to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Help deciding: Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition vs Kindle Paperwhite Kids for my 10-year-old
I'm trying to decide between the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (32 GB) and the Kindle Paperwhite Kids (16 GB) for my 10-year-old, who is a serious reader. The price difference is only $20, and I’m a bit torn on which is the better value long-term. Here’s what I’ve considered: Kindle Kids version (16 GB) comes with a cover, a 2-year worry-free guarantee (which is huge for kids), and 6 months of Kids+ content (worth $36). Signature Edition (32 GB) doesn’t come with any of those extras, but it has an auto-adjusting front light sensor, which the Kids version lacks. I’m not concerned about storage. 16 GB seems like more than enough for ebooks, but happy to hear thoughts if I’m underestimating that. My main question: Does the auto-adjusting front light really make a noticeable difference on a Kindle screen? Is it something a kid would benefit from or even care about? Would love to hear from anyone who's used either version with kids — or just has experience with the auto-brightness feature. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/AzeemDanish to r/kindle [link] [comments]

Help me choose: Kindle Paperwhite Signature 2024 vs Kobo Clara Colour (first e-reader!)
Hi everyone, I could really use your help deciding between two e-readers. I recently bought myself a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024) as a birthday gift (from me to me). It’s my first e-reader and I bought it after doing a lot of research because I’ve always read on my phone and wanted something more comfortable and better for my eyes. But today, someone surprised me with a Kobo Clara Colour as a gift… and now I have no idea which one to keep and which one to return. Here’s what matters most to me: - I mostly read novels, not many comics or graphic novels. - Screen quality and reading comfort are super important. I’m sensitive to flickering or blinking (which I heard can happen on e-ink screens). - I chose the Kindle partly because it’s supposed to be 25% faster, which I thought would help with smoother page turns. - I’m not really planning to use wireless charging, so that’s not a deciding factor. - A clean intuitive interface is important to me too. I’m not locked into either ecosystem yet. I just want the one that will give me the best reading experience for novels, with minimal distractions or lag. Has anyone tried both? What would you recommend? Thanks a lot! submitted by /u/Specialist-Ebb7832 to r/ereader [link] [comments]

kindle paperwhite 16gb vs signature edition 32gb
Hello, I am currently at war with which kindle to order for my reading habit. I am draining myself dry for buying so many hardcovers (personal preference for hardcover cause I can't stand paperback) books and I am a avid reader. I usually finish my books within 1-2 days, that's on top of full time college and work. I don't have a lot of space on my bookshelf and I want the convenience of having a millions books in one device that is easy to carrier around. The appeal of wireless does not do much to me but the space does. I am stuck between if 16GB is enough or if I should do 32GB to be safe. I am not a computer person, I don't understand storage stuff but I just don't want to get the 16GB and not have enough space for all the books I want to read at the same time vs overkill of too much storage that will be wasted. I do not do audiobooks, comics are more for passing time. I would love some opinions on those who gotten either options. TIA submitted by /u/Negative-East3762 to r/kindle [link] [comments]
