lol sorry but nope. Was not fun. Especially because I love food. Quinoa? Gross. I also hated being on a schedule to eat because I don’t eat breakfast or snacks in between. Especially if it’s carrots for snacks. If you’re a healthy eater, you’ll be fine. I had to transition from eating out to sugarless, super low carb foods.

My favorite sweet low cal high volume snack/breakfast
Lewis keto bread 35 calories (plus 5g protein, 8g fiber, 0 net carbs), Good Good blackcurrant jam 5 calories, Sweetleaf indulge natural sweetener 0 calories. I’m usually disappointed with so called low calorie snacks/foods as they’re either low calorie because the portion/volume is so small, or they just don’t taste good. I’ve found this toast with jam and sweetener at 40 calories total to be delicious and relatively high volume while still being low calorie. The bread is like any other white bread, tastes good, and also has 5 g of protein and 8 g of fiber. I’ve found Good Good jam to have a good fruit jam taste, but is never sweet enough (someone said it’s like the Lachoix of Jam, which is so accurate), but adding sweetener to it makes it taste delicious and doesn’t increase the calories. The Sweetleaf indulge sweetener is the only sweetener that doesn’t give me stomach issues, and when mixed with food, I don’t get any weird taste or aftertaste. I use it in cooking and on top of berries, and mixed into this jam, it works perfectly. To me, this doesn’t taste any different from any other high calorie bread and jam combo, so it’s super satisfying, good high volume, and I can have 2 slices and still be at 80 calories. submitted by /u/katanastormshadow88 to r/LowCalFoodFinds [link] [comments]

Low Carb Freedom
I know people typically balk at low carb/ keto / sugar free lifestyles - BUT - it works. I have totally changed my body composition, I have very muscular legs and arms and back for the first time since 2020 & I was spending hours in the gym. Now I’m more lean, more fit, with higher energy & sharper focus. No ultra processed foods No refined sugar (I’ll go for alternative that have zero glycemic impact) No fast foods No refined carbs without high fiber = low carb /keto I personally try to stay away from “Frakenbreads” but I do occasionally treat myself to a high protein low carb snack, because life is short and it’s a small joy! It’s freaking worth it to cut the MOST addictive & inflammatory substance out of your life! It takes time and it’s a marathon not a sprint, but I just wanted to share with you that it is POSSIBLE & to keep on, keep your chin up & remember that small changes today = transformations that accumulate over time. Foods that helped me during my transformation
Though It is true that no one food or meals can cause fatloss as the way only way to actually loose weight is by being in a calorie deficit Here are some of the low calorie highly satiating foods that really helped me during my journey 1) chicken (90 calories per 100gm) one of the best food items when it comes to fatloss very high in protein and very low in calories also very very satiating highly recommended if you consume non veg 2) potatoes (80 calories per 100gm) yes you read right potatoes contrary to what most people believe potatoes don’t make you fat and are not high calorie in fact it’s one of the best food items and sources of carbs if you are on a deficit also very filling 3) mushrooms (25 calories per 100gm) mushrooms are a very good option for people who can’t spend too much you can easily fill your stomach and not eat more than 100 calories really good if you wanna snack too 4) curd ( 60 calories per 100gm) very good source of probiotics helps in digestion also really really filling pair it with some fruits and you got yourself a really good snack 5)green vegetables (15-80 calories per 100gm) yes green vegetables though not very appealing to most are really low in calories i personally pair my veggies with some chicken 6 )chapati/roti (60-85 calories) yes your everyday roti is not as bad as you think though if someone is diabetic i still think that you should avoid it but if the goal is to loose weight then feel free to eat them 4-5 a day won’t hurt ( without ghee) Feel free to ask my questions regarding any of these food items or any weight loss questions in the comments happy to answer! submitted by /u/shccuhc to r/AskFitnessIndia [link] [comments]

Low carb diets and children...
As someone who’s lived with type 1 diabetes for 23 years and was diagnosed at age 5, I’m endlessly grateful my parents never put me on a rigid, restrictive diet. This was before CGMs, before trend graphs, before alarms every five minutes. Diabetes back then meant finger pricks, guesswork, and trusting how your body felt. And yes, tech today gives us more data than ever, which can be overwhelming. But it also means diabetes is, in many ways, far more manageable now than when I was a kid. What I’m struggling with is seeing diabetic creators proudly showing their very young children eating fewer than ~30g of carbs a day. Quest bars, keto snacks and “low carb everything.” Or a half dextrose tab for a low.... In my opinion, there’s a real line between supporting blood sugars and controlling a child’s body and relationship with food. A lot of this feels less like diabetes management and more like parents regulating their own anxiety through their child’s body. What makes this harder is that fear based control is rewarded online. It gets praise and credibility. I eat 200g+ of carbs a day and still stay ~98% in range most days. I keep trying to remind myself: not my kid. But I also can’t help asking: what would 5 year old me have wanted? I guess you can do what works for you, but at the end of the day I just know I'd be so unhappy as an adult if I had a childhood where Diabetes controlled everything I ate and did. AITA for "not warning" my diabetic friend about our trip
My friend, sister, and I went out to major city near us for my birthday, where yes there are busses and the subway but usually its still better to walk if its not across the city. I invited this friend to a free trip to a museum, and explicitly told her we would be leaving our town at 9:30, arriving in city at 11, leaving at 5:30 and getting home for about 7. At the beginning of the day i make sure to tell her I have extra snacks incase she needs to fix her blood sugars, with both fast and long acting carbs. She also has some trouble with a leg injury, but my sister has a pretty bad one that flares up and i have a minor one, so I figured she would be comfortable telling us if she needed to stop. We finished the museum with about 2 hours to spare (not helped by the fact we skipped a floor because I wasn't super interested in the stuff and she definitely wasn't. So my sister and I say we should walk around the city since there's some cool stuff nearby, she doesn't protest, and had been sitting down for a bit previously because she was bored of the exhibit we were in. So we end up walking and taking the subway around, every time we are near a mall and even as we are walking around we are checking in with her if she needs food and buy her a smoothie and bagel, though that isn't because she says she needs food its because my sister wanted to stop at both places. She's had a headphone in all day so we haven't known anything about when/if she was having blood sugar problems. Basically, she's pissed at me because I "didn't warn her" we would be walking around so much and hadn't adequately warned her so she could prepare about the change of plans, I argued back that we literally made the plans of walking around for a bit right in front of her and that she could've said something, as well as the fact that even if we hadn't gone around the city, we literally said, we are going to be walking around a museum for 4 basically 5 hours not including travel time. This combined with the fact that she never said anything about having a problem, or having low blood sugar, despite us being aware of it and actively checking in to make sure she was doing okay and had what she needed. (to that she said that whenever we offered stuff she didn't have one and that it was when we were away from food places that she had a low blood sugar (uh hello big city we can walk at most, a block and find food)) Anyways, AITA for "not properly warning" my friend about this trip and making the possibility of "leaving her defenseless" Edit: For reference I would also like to add that the both of us are both barely young adults, as well as the fact that neither of us have a drivers license as it isn't really needed where we live, (hence my much elder sister coming, as well as the fact her mother is still very overprotective.) Underweight but have to do low carb
I had gestational diabetes and have been struggling some with fasting glucose still at 11 months postpartum (reason for needing low carb). I’m underweight (5”4 105-7 pounds). I have to eat 3 meals a day, can’t snack, can’t eat past 6pm in order to get my fasting in the normal range. I walk after each meal for 15 mins and do 30 minute daily home workouts with 2 20lb and 2 10lb dumbbells. I drink a pea protein shake when I workout. I hate being underweight 😔 it makes me feel like something is really wrong with me and reminds me of when I was a teenager/early 20s and people always talking about how skinny I am. AITAH for telling my wife to stop making her eating disorder obvious to the kids?
My wife Alice has an eating disorder basically her whole life. She doesn’t allow herself anything with too many carbs or sugar in it. Her meals are mostly veg and protein. When we first started dating, she was so motivated to change that about herself and develop a healthier relationship with food. She started seeing a therapist and a doctor and was doing really well. She came a really long way and I was doing whatever I could to support her. But when we had our two daughters (8 and 10), she went right back to square one because she was insecure about her body. She completely refused to get any help after because she didn’t want to gain weight. I’ve done everything I could to try help her but she’s completely against it now. My daughters and I usually have the same thing for our meals and Alice eats the low carb low fat version of it. Recently, our 10 year old expressed that she wants to start eating what Alice has and she’ll give reasons that sound like exactly what Alice would say. For example, one night we were having rice, salmon and veggies for dinner. My daughter said “dad don’t put rice on my plate, I’ll be bloated tomorrow”. I asked her why she said that and she couldn’t give me an answer. She completely refused to have the rice and I obviously can’t force her, but she’s been doing it more often lately. I sat her down and explained that carbs aren’t bad for her and it’s essential to her growth and health that she has a balanced diet. I thought she understood what I was saying but it hasn’t helped one bit because she still refuses to eat any rice/potatoes/bread or snacks at all. I told my wife that she needs to stop making comments about her appearance and labelling certain foods as bad because it’s affecting our daughter and I’m scared what level this could get to for such a young child. My wife said “oh sorry, let me just switch my eating disorder off for you darling, didn’t realise it was such an inconvenience”. This ticked me off and I told her to stop being sarcastic and passive aggressive. I said I’m genuinely worried about our daughter and we need to do something to nip it in the bud before it gets worse for her. She said I’m daft for bringing that up with her when she struggles with food too. She said “if I knew how to help someone who struggles with food, I wouldn’t have spent my entire life struggling”. My mind is a jumbled mess. Depression meals low carb, little to no prep
I'm in one of my very low points of depression. I usually love to cook, but right now I barely have energy to get out of bed, let alone think about what to eat. I'm currently on a weight loss journey and low carb is important to me. I'm trying to stick to that, but the depression food I usually make is quesadilla in the microwave and that has a lot of carbs. What are some good options for a meal (not snack) that is not really any prep but also low carb? I'm sure there's easy answers, but my depression today is making it hard to think about anything. I regrettably told someone I was eating low carb/keto
I was telling my boyfriend to order pork rinds for me (because he has amazon prime) and his sister was on FaceTime. She shrieks “PORK RINDS?!?!” And I explain they’re for dipping as I’m not eating chips. She asks why not and I respond with the fact that I’m eating low carb. She. Freaks. Out. She goes on and on about me eating a well balanced diet and using carrots to dip. I tell her that carrots are higher in carbs than I’d like so I’m trying pork rinds. She goes on about how she just eats every 4 hours and makes sure to eat 1 serving of things, etc etc. She goes as far to say that I’m nutrient deficient and should seek help from a nutritionist. I then told her that I’ve read lots of peer reviewed research and put in time to learn before going in. I then told her that her way of eating doesn’t work for me. Keto helps me feel full. I feel like I can actually go on about my day without snacking myself to death and filling my body with fuck tons of added sugars. She’s not hearing it. [RANT] I wish the food industry would try to capitalize on low-carb lifestyles like they have with low-fat and gluten-free.
There are entire aisles at the grocery store for "smart eating" foodstuffs. Low-fat, gluten-free, heart-healthy, vegetarian/vegan, you name it. But low-carb alternatives are still so few and far between. I usually stick to naturally low-carb whole foods anyway, but gosh would it be nice to have a whole aisle full of things I know I could eat. I currently have to hop around the store to grab the exact low-carb tortillas, low-carb protein bars, and various low-carb snacks that I have already decided on. There's no easy way to just browse for stuff. I actually end up purchasing most of my "specialty" stuff on the internet, because it's easier to find.
