How is Lululemon perceived in Canada?
I just recently got to know that Lululemon was named after the founder's questionable idea that Japanese people cannot pronounce L in English so it's funny for him to see them pronouncing it, and slightly annoyed at it. The founder Chip Wilson also seems to be infamous for making racial remarks (although I'm not too sure to what extent they are true and not time to further look into it). https://share.google/n2xDOtsTpU9Ea8cDT But since this Olympics' uniform for team Canada is designed by them, I presume they are considered 'national pride' kind of status brand in Canada? I was wondering if they are more like Abercrombie & Fitch that used to make questionable comments but somehow got away. Not intending to complain about this company nor the founder, but I was curious about the brand's status and what type of people buy them. submitted by /u/Salzhio to r/AskCanada [link] [comments]

Did lululemon Canada become commissions based?
I’ve been a sweat collective member for years, i buy lulu en masse. I go into store to try things on, I sometimes buy, but usually I go home and fill up my shopping cart. I’m pinnacle a few times over and I go into store at least once a month. I say all this because I engage with lulu staff—a lot. This weekend i went to return a crew sweater 3 days after it was delivered, brand new, tags on. They ask me why I’m returning (they ask me this maybe 1/10 times usually). I tell them it’s the metal zippers. Really cold on my skin and detracts from the comfy oversized vibe. They immediately try really hard to sell me on a jogger set without zippers. She calls another employee to show me but I wanted to make the return first. They really push for an exchange. I say I’ll shop around and they seemed bummed. The employee that was called over followed me around the store trying to sell me items. I politely try to lose her— didn’t work. Then i find something I like, i wait in line to make a purchase, and wanted to order another WMTM item in the same transaction. “Oh we can’t add sweat collective bc it’s on sale.” I tell them that the app is letting me add sweat collective to sale items in my cart this week (i show them). (Sometimes it just happens?) they said my app must be glitching. I asked them if they could match the app. They refused. I told them i would just buy both items myself then 🤷‍♀️ and save the 25%. Both were available in the same size and same color. The woman rolls her eyes, says “fine”, takes my items and just leaves the counter. I am shocked, usually only Aritzia employees get visibly upset at you if you don’t buy. Did lulu change their remuneration model to award harder sells in store? TLDR: 3 lulu employees, 1 was visibly bummed i didn’t buy, 1 tried to sell me haaarddd, and 1 was kinda rude. This has never happened before to me, is lulu paying commission to their employees for sales now? submitted by /u/baggiboogi to r/lululemon [link] [comments]

PSA: students PLEASE be more personable
Both my husband and I work in professional fields that are very difficult to break into, let alone in Edmonton. We are super cognicent of this- we are getting applications from all over Canada and are both trying so hard to hire from our local candidate pool. It is difficult to justify hiring the ones we've interviewed though, both my husband and I are having the same issues. 3 word answers, 5 word answers. Shit attitude or the illusion thereof. It makes you look like you cannot work in a team or that you are doing us a favour. In a call with 4 people interviewing you, if all of them comment on it and 3 of the veto you because of it, you know it's a problem. Both my husband and I are trying so hard to give the opportunity to a local student but the lack of social skills is concerning. For my hire, I went with someone from BC and it is sounding like my husband's group will hire from Toronto. Students, please if you have social anxiety or problems interviewing, practice! Get some pointers! We want to help you start your career but you are not helping yourself. It pains me that my hire is not from Edmonton but ultimately we need to do what is best for the team Edit: Okay I'm going to stop engaging and get on with my weekend. To all of those that wanted to share this in classes as either professors or students, go ahead, I will leave this up, no issues. To the students that DM'd me or commented how unfair it was to have this view point. The harsh reality is that Edmonton does not have a lot of corporate opportunities that beef your resume up. You working at Canadian Tire while you go to school does not hold the same weight as someone who is interning part time in analytics at Lululemon head office. You know what, though? I'm putting you through anyways because that is not your fault. You do not have the same opportunities as Toronto or Vancouver or even Calgary, your resume does not stack up but I want to give you a shot. Do you answer the "tell me a time when X" questions as well as them? No. You don't have as many examples that are applicable. It is not your fault and I don't put as much weight on them as I do for the others. So how do you stand out? Personableness, attitude etc etc. The victim attitude and entitlement though is insane. To the person that DM'd me advising me to give up on the Edmonton candidates or the one saying to just trust natural selection and not worry about region, I see your points. If this sample size is indicative of the current local candidate pool then I made the right choice not hiring local. To those telling their social anxiety and growth stories, whether it be on the thread or DM-ing, keep going. As I said, I work at a large organization operating through North America, the amount of applications we get for one job is in the hundreds. Your efforts are being noticed, your interviews are standing out- keep making us make the hard decisions of who to hire, whether it is local or not. submitted by /u/ProcedurePristine369 to r/Edmonton [link] [comments]

Lululemon and Team Canada
I was just clicking through Lululemon’s website looking at the new Team Canada merch they have available in advance of this winter’s Olympics. The Team Canada tuque is there, however it is referred to as a ‘beanie’. As the official supplier to Team Canada, and as a supposedly Canadian company, I find this tone deaf at a minimum, honestly I’m a little offended. Am I overreacting? For anyone not familiar the use of the word ‘beanie’ in this context is American English. When you say ‘beanie’ to me I think of a ball cap with a propellor attached. submitted by /u/Flannelcat-99 to r/AskACanadian [link] [comments]

Amex Platinum refresh: Summary of all new perks
So many good info everywhere but hard to find a post that summarizes it all, so I decided to get to it to summarize Amex fine prints on all new perks + best tips from Reditors + stack I have found to work. Let me know if I forgot anything, and I can update that post for a summary What changed: Fee jumps to $895 Amex adds $600 Hotel (FHR/THC), $400 Resy, $300 lululemon, $200 Oura Ring, $300 Digital Entertainment, complimentary Leaders Club Sterling Status from The Leading Hotels of the World All old perks remain the same and no perks from the past was lost in the refresh (except for Hotel Credit which was increased from $200 to $600) Perks are live now and can be used now for everyone, no matter when your annual fee hits Higher fee hits renewals later To find your latest annual fee, go in Statements & Activity and search on YTD or last year for charge named "RENEWAL MEMBERSHIP FEE" You can start using all perks even if old fee was charged recently Credits can be spend in multiple increments Credits work with Apple or Google Pay as long as you select your Plat card Those apply to Personal Amex Plat, not Business Plat (only $600 FHR credit & LHW status has been reflected on Business Plat) $600 Hotel Credit (FHR / The Hotel Collection) How to use: Semi-annual: $300 Jan - Jun & $300 Jul - Dec No enrollment required | use-it-or-lose-it Amex says: Must be prepaid through Amex Travel on FHR or The Hotel Collection (THC = 2-night minimum). Pay at hotel = no credit FHR perks on every eligible stay: breakfast for 2, $100 property credit, 4pm late checkout, upgrade when available Redditors say (what's working): “Best value” targets repeatedly mentioned: Vegas & Miami mid-week, Cancún, Bali/Thailand off-season, Montreal, DR (where the on-property $100 credit + breakfast almost wipe the cash cost after the $300 credit) Exact examples below Canopy by Hilton Cancún La Isla (THC): ~$149–$200 nights found; $100 property credit helps; with $300 semiannual, many net near-zero OOP for 2-night stays The Palazzo at the Venitian (FHR): starts at $127 Ritz-Carlton, Bali (FHR): ~$300+ junior suites found Hotel William Gray (Montreal) (THC): ~$355 targets show up; spa access can be covered by the $100 credit Redditors say (what's NOT working): Some comments on pricing that have increased 15-30% since refresh → unverified Pro-tips: If you already used your $200 hotel credit before the reresh, you get another $300 to spend as it is a full reset Always verify “Prepaid” on checkout, otherwise, your $300 won’t post You can prepay for a stay next year, credit will hit now Use MaxFHR of < $300 FHR to surface dates. Some great finds in the low season Stack with targeted Amex Offers on hotels for double-dip value when they appear $400 Resy Dining Credit How to use: $100 per quarter Enrollment required | use-it-or-lose-it Amex says: Earn statement credits after paying with an enrolled Platinum to dine at U.S. Resy restaurants or for other eligible Resy purchases You don’t have to book via Resy as long as the spot is a Resy restaurant and you pay with your Plat You can order take-out in person from the restaurant directly (not through apps) and it qualifies Redditors say (what's working): Paying the bill at a U.S. Resy restaurant reliably triggers Gift cards at the restaurant: mixed results; some report success buying GCs from the venue if it codes like the restaurant (YMMV; Toast/online GCs sometimes work, sometimes don’t) Redditors say (what's NOT working): A few venues don’t accept Amex | Resy listing ≠ Amex acceptance Doesn't work internationally | U.S. only $300 Lululemon Credit How to use: $75 per quarter Enrollment required | use-it-or-lose-it Amex says: Valid at U.S. lululemon stores (excludes outlets) and online store Gift cards not explicitly listed in T&Cs Redditors say (what's working): Purchases at U.S. stores and lululemon.com reliably trigger Some success with physical in-store gift cards (coded like merchandise) Redditors say (what's NOT working): E-gift cards via CashStar often code differently and don’t trigger International purchases (Canada, UK, etc.) don’t trigger | U.S. only Pro-tips: Pair with Amex Offers (extra MR points or statement credit) For new customers, claim 15% off on 1st purchase + stack with Rakuten 2% cash-back $200 Oura Ring Credit How to use: Up to $200 annually Enrollment required | use-it-or-lose-it Amex says: Credit only applies to purchases of Oura Rings on online store Membership subscription not included Redditors say (what's working): Buying directly from Oura site posts cleanly Redditors say (what's NOT working): Purchases from Amazon, Best Buy, or other resellers don’t trigger Monthly membership fee doesn’t qualify (even if charged by Oura) Pro-tips: Some stacked with site promos or targeted Amex Offers for extra $ back Oura occasionally runs seasonal discounts → you can double-dip Ask a friend for a referral link, you get an extra 15% off on your first purchase Perplexity Pro offers $50 off on ring purchase, and can stack with Amex offer Get a free year of Perplexity Pro with Paypal Lululemon free membership offers $40 off on Oura too. $300 Digital Entertainment Credit How to use: $25/month credit Enrollment required | use-it-or-lose-it Amex says: Eligible partners billed directly (e.g., Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+, NYT, WSJ, YouTube Premium/TV) Must be direct billing; gift cards and third-party billing (Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon) not eligible Redditors say (what's working): Direct monthly charges from Peacock and Paramount+ work reliably NYT/WSJ/Youtube subs hit correctly if billed direct (not via App Store) Redditors say (what's NOT working): Gift cards for Peacock/Paramount+ → don’t trigger Annual subs via App Store or Google Play → don’t trigger Pro-tips: Walmart+ monthly credit (already included with Platinum) → gives you free Paramount+ or Peacock. You can switch every ~90 days. Play it like this: cover one streamer with Walmart+, and use the Amex Entertainment credit for the other → get both free. Stack with promotional trials (Amex credit still applies if billed directly, even for a promo month). $120 Uber One Credit How to use: $10 per month credit | $120 per year Enrollment required: add your Platinum to Uber app → “Wallet” → activate Uber One benefit | use-it-or-lose-it Valid for Uber One membership dues only (not rides/Eats orders directly → use your existing $200 Uber Cash credit for that) Amex says: Credit applies to monthly and annual Uber One subscription billed through Uber U.S. only | International Uber One memberships not eligible Redditors say (what's working): Membership dues of $9.99/month are fully covered (auto-applies after enrollment) The Uber One benefits then extend to rides (5–10% off) and Uber Eats (0 delivery fees + discounts) Some users confirm the $10 posts even if you sign up for annual Uber One (Amex offsets $9.99 each month against it) You can stack Uber One discounts with the separate $200 Uber Cash credit (rides/Eats) Redditors say (what's NOT working): If you pay for Uber One via Apple/Google in-app billing, it often fails → make sure billing is set directly to Amex in Uber Wallet Pro-tips: Even if you don’t use Eats much, keep Uber One active → the ride discounts alone can justify it with the $10 credit covering the cost Stack: Uber One membership (covered by this credit) + $200 annual Uber Cash credit → double benefit on rides and food If you already had Uber One: cancel and re-enroll using the Plat in Wallet so the Amex credit starts auto-applying submitted by /u/NicoTheFrenchie to r/AmexPlatinum [link] [comments]
