Beware of UpGrad’s Hybrid MS Programs – False Promises, Loan Rejections, and Visa Issues
Hi everyone, https://www.linkedin.com/posts/ansar-basha-lavangiri-629b36241_hybrid-ms-scam-of-upgrad-part-1-activity-7254431674728382464-0Ro5?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop I want to share my personal experience with UpGrad and Golden Gate University’s hybrid MSBA program to raise awareness and hopefully help others avoid the same situation I found myself in. Last year, I enrolled in UpGrad’s hybrid MSBA program in collaboration with Golden Gate University, believing it was a great opportunity to get a U.S. degree at a more affordable price. However, it has been nothing but a nightmare, and I’m left with financial losses, wasted time, and immense stress. False Promises from UpGrad's Admission Counselor From the start, the admission counsellor at UpGrad assured me that I would face no issues securing an educational loan and U.S. student visa, even after I disclosed my educational gap and a previous U.S. visa refusal under section 214(b). They assured me these factors would not be a problem. However, after completing part of the online program, I was rejected for a loan due to my educational gap, and my entire plan to pursue the on-campus part in the U.S. collapsed. Loan Rejection and Visa Issues Before joining this program, I had successfully secured loans from Prodigy Finance and MPower Finance for another U.S. university program, so I trusted UpGrad when they promised everything would go smoothly. But I was misled. After spending significant time and money, I found out I wasn’t eligible for any loan this time due to my academic history, something they blatantly ignored during the admission process. On top of that, despite my repeated requests for confirmation, UpGrad kept assuring me that I would get admitted for the May 2024 intake, only for me to find out much later that my admission was actually for Fall 2024 – a completely different timeline that added more complications. Expensive and Poor-Quality Program I paid around ₹4,00,000 for the program, but I later discovered that the course content was nowhere near worth the price. Many other universities, including AACSB-accredited institutions, offer similar or better programs at much lower costs. I also realized that Golden Gate University isn’t AACSB accredited, which makes it difficult to transfer credits to other reputable institutions. The online content provided by UpGrad wasn’t any better than the free tutorials available on YouTube or Coursera. Mismanagement of Visa Application Assistance UpGrad also charged a whopping ₹1,00,000 for visa assistance and English proficiency tests. Shockingly, the people responsible for visa assistance had no professional experience in handling visa applications. They even asked for my personal login credentials to fill out the DS-160 visa form, which should never happen. This was highly unprofessional and against standard procedures. Empty Promises and Threats from UpGrad When I tried to raise these issues with UpGrad, they offered no solution. Instead, their grievance redressal officer threatened me with lawsuits and defamation claims when I asked for a refund or to resolve the situation fairly. I also found out that UpGrad had run similar scams in the past, leaving hundreds of students in the lurch. Only One Student Got a Visa, Others Are Struggling In my batch, only one student managed to get a visa and travel to the U.S. The rest of us are stuck in limbo, facing loan rejections, program delays, and broken promises. What You Should Know UpGrad and Golden Gate University’s MSBA program is misleading and overpriced. They don’t properly evaluate your profile for loan eligibility or visa considerations. The visa assistance and English proficiency services are unprofessional and overly expensive. They use false promises to get you to enrol, only to later backtrack on everything they say. You may face loan rejection and find yourself financially stranded without a way to complete the program. If you are considering enrolling in any program with UpGrad or Golden Gate University, please do thorough research, ask tough questions, and don’t trust their promises without seeing everything in writing. This experience has been a nightmare, and I hope no one else has to go through the same ordeal. Has anyone else had similar issues with UpGrad or other EdTech companies? Please share your experiences! TL;DR: Enrolled in UpGrad’s hybrid MSBA program with Golden Gate University. Misled by admission counsellors on loan eligibility and visa application. Paid huge fees for subpar content and unprofessional services. Got rejected for a loan due to an educational gap, and now I can’t complete the program in the U.S. UpGrad is refusing a refund and even threatening me with legal action. Help with creating a Hackintosh
SUCCESS! (Almost) So I finally got my Hackintosh to boot into macOs Sierra. I had to use Safe Mode in order for it to boot without failing. If I could get help with everything from below (minus upgrading to Mojave), I will have a fully-functional Hackintosh! What I have left to do: NOTHING!!!! Everything has been completed. Thanks to all who helped my with this project! Get Proper Rx 480 Drivers (in about this mac, it shows my GPU as Radeon R9 XXX, and the generic display drivers make for some weird visual artifacts throughout the OS) Login to iCloud (it says verification failed) Enable Audio (I use Realtek Audio Manager on Windows because I have an MSI Mobo) Enable Wifi, Bluetooth, and Airdrop (Not a priority because the pc is connected to ethernet) Update to Mojave eventually **Most Recent Issue:**I have a Windows desktop that I built. My specs are i7-6700k, MSI Z170A MPower Gaming Titanium, and AMD Rx 480. I can get all the way through the macOs install process, but when the computer tries to boot for the first time, I get an error that says "Using Safe Mode. Error allocating 0x011912 pages at 0x0000000005a3c000 alloc type 2. Couldn't allocate runtime area. Boot failed, sleeping for 10 seconds before exiting..." And then the screen turns off and says no signal. Original Issue: I have a Windows desktop that I built. My specs are i7-6700k, MSI Z170A MPower Gaming Titanium, and AMD Rx 480. I have tried everything on tonymax86's website guide, but when I boot I only get a blue and grey boot option screen that looks similar to a bios. I really want to dual boot macOs and Windows, but I'm slowly starting to give up. Any help would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/QUICKSILV3R15 to r/hackintosh [link] [comments]

Windows 10 NVidia Driver Issue help
I woke up this morning to a black screen. I rebooted the computer and could see it post, go into windows. as soon as it gets to the login screen it goes black. I have narrowed it down to some kind of Nvidia display driver issue. When I have the driver removed I can boot fully into windows. As soon as I install the driver it immediately goes black and does not come back. My system : Intel i7 2600K MSI Big Bang z77 mpower motherboard GTX670 16GB ram I have rolled the drivers back, done a clean installation swapped slots on the motherboard, ran chkdsk, sfc /scannow, checked for windows updates that could have caused the issue. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated submitted by /u/aaronjjpr to r/techsupport [link] [comments]

MSI Z77 MPOWER USB3.0 ports working only on 2nd start up.
Yeah, I know the board is old and everything is old, but I have an issue - mpower has 2 usb 3.0 ports by Intel and 4 usb 3.0 ports by Renesas. Well, these 4 ports by Renesas work (powered up and identified in the system) only on the second system start up. Every time. I've tried updating the firmware of these usb ports, updating the drivers - nothing. So I have to power up the system.. wait for the login screen. Shutdown. Power up again every single day.. any tips? Thanks. If I send the pc to sleep when these Renesas ports are working - everything is ok, but I prefer to shutdown the pc. submitted by /u/zhker to r/techsupport [link] [comments]

Mint 18, AMDGPU (not PRO) driver question.
So, I have an R9 390 (not x), and am running Mint 18 Cinnamon. I am wondering what the status of the AMDGPU driver is? Also wondering if it would fix some of my issues. I have read in different places that it is enabled in 4.6+ kernels, but not in 4.4. Mint 18 only goes up to 4.4.0-31. Reason being, is I am getting a lot of Steam errors, not sure if it is 32-bit library issues or not. For example, I can play The Talos Principle on 32 bit mode, but when trying the 64-bit, I get "Diplay driver is too old or can not be determined. Press OK to update driver, or cancel to continue.' The only other games I have installed right now won't open at all, at least not from within Steam. (Borderlands 2, The Pre-Sequel and CivV) I can get CivV to open from a terminal, however. Output of inxi -Fx inxi -Fx System: Host: paul-MS-7751 Kernel: 4.4.0-31-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.3.1) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.0.7 (Gtk 3.18.9-1ubuntu3.1) Distro: Linux Mint 18 Sarah Machine: Mobo: MSI model: Z77 MPower (MS-7751) v: 4.0 Bios: American Megatrends v: V17.12 date: 10/30/2013 CPU: Quad core Intel Core i5-3570K (-MCP-) cache: 6144 KB flags: (lm nx sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 ssse3 vmx) bmips: 27197 clock speeds: max: 3800 MHz 1: 1794 MHz 2: 1658 MHz 3: 1611 MHz 4: 1699 MHz Graphics: Card: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Hawaii PRO [Radeon R9 290] bus-ID: 01:00.0 Display Server: X.Org 1.18.3 drivers: ati, radeon (unloaded: fbdev, vesa) Resolution: [email protected] GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on AMD HAWAII (DRM 2.43.0, LLVM 3.8.0) GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.0 Direct Rendering: Yes Audio: Card-1 Intel 7 Series/C210 Series Family High Definition Audio Controller driver: snd_hda_intel bus-ID: 00:1b.0 Card-2 Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] Hawaii HDMI Audio driver: snd_hda_intel bus-ID: 01:00.1 Card-3 Plantronics driver: USB Audio usb-ID: 002-003 Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture v: k4.4.0-31-generic Network: Card: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller driver: r8169 v: 2.3LK-NAPI port: d000 bus-ID: 03:00.0 IF: enp3s0 state: up speed: 1000 Mbps duplex: full mac: d4:3d:7e:93:7b:ac Drives: HDD Total Size: 3080.6GB (1.9% used) ID-1: /dev/sda model: SSD2SC480G1CS275 size: 480.1GB ID-2: /dev/sdb model: WDC_WD6000HLHX size: 600.1GB ID-3: /dev/sdc model: WDC_WD1001FALS size: 1000.2GB ID-4: /dev/sdd model: WDC_WD10EACS size: 1000.2GB Partition: ID-1: / size: 425G used: 41G (11%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/sda1 ID-2: swap-1 size: 17.13GB used: 0.00GB (0%) fs: swap dev: /dev/sda2 submitted by /u/Myworstnitemare to r/linuxmint [link] [comments]

Mint Mate desktop slowdown issues.
Specs first: i5-3570k MSI Z77 Mpower mobo 16GB DDR3 PNY CS2111 480GB SSD 1TB WD Caviar Black storage drive /root and /home on SSD 16GB swap on end of SSD 1TB drive for long term storage. Upon first boot, system is screamingly fast, just what you would expect from an SSD. Near instant opening of almost any app, even steam games load amazingly fast. After about a day, or so, eveything creeps to a crawl. Using either chrome or FF, just scrolling up and down pages is a pain. Windows seem to take forever to open/close, animation with compiz are jerky and nasty. A logout/login fixes things, but always returns in roughly the same timeframe. I've set up fstrim to run by rc.local Set swappiness to 10 Disabled Hibernation (desktop anyway) noatime flag set in fstab, with deadline set as the scheduler. Any idea-wizards out there? Edit: My apologies, Mint Mate 17.3, if anyone is wondering. **EDIT#2 for more of my stupidity, can't believe I left these out: Running kernel 3.19.0-32-generic #37~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP AMD R9 390 8Gig with fglrx-updates from Driver Manager (happens with open-source driver, also).** submitted by /u/Myworstnitemare to r/linuxmint [link] [comments]

Monitors have no signal until login screen
I have googled around a bit and haven't found a solution that works. I have tried different cables (DVI/HDMI) as well as different ports on the gfx card. Also tried just having 1 monitor plugged in. Specs: windows 10 i7 4770k r9 290 z87 mpower max 16gigs ram Any help would be greatly appreciated :D Edit: I solved the issue by going into my bios and disabling the integrated graphics options. I have no idea why it got enabled but whatever, the issue is fixed :) submitted by /u/9_7 to r/techsupport [link] [comments]

WINDOWS 8.1 HUNG ON STARTUP
Yesterday I was wiping the dust off of my rig, and I figured I would dust off my cpu fan as well, because it had accumulated a lot of dust on the fan blades (I use the stock intel heatsink with a 3570K). I have a Thermaltake Level 10 GT, so I took off both side panels so I can take off the heatsink. I disconnected all devices connected to my PC and turned my power supply off as well. I disconnected the 4 pin cord from the 4 pin connector on my motherboard. I then took off the heatsink accordingly without any mishaps, and set it down on the side opposite the thermal paste and wiped the dust off both sides of the fan. I then set it in. But it wasn't all the way in, and I joined my friend's game of Rust and I was getting about 20-50 FPS, unlike my usual 80-130 FPS, so I knew something was wrong right away. So I went to task manager and went to the performance tab. My CPU was at 104 Degrees Celsius. I instantly turned my computer right away, and took off the side panels again. I noticed that the two bottom pins weren't in all the way, there wa no direct contact between the cooler and the processor. I clicked them in and now my computer is hung on the startup screen. I press the power button and the everything inside comes to life, however the only thing I see on my monitor is the windows logo (The one that would usually have the rotating loading thing below it). Sometimes below the window it will have "Diagnosing Your Problems" or something along the lines of that, and that usually fails and bring up a menu prompting me with a system Refresh or a Restore (I have tried Restore several times on two separate dates, one failed and the other got hung for two hours on "WPI"). Most of the times though, it will just go to the Windows screen and load normally, but directly after that just goes to a black screen with an infinite life span. It is worth noting that several days ago I had a problem installing a windows update, it failed and had to restart. After that happened I was prompted by the normal login screen, and I could go about my business. But this time it seems more than just a download problem. All post codes on my motherboard are normal and are part of any routine startup. I need guidance on how to figure out what is wrong my machine. Any help is appreciated, and I would love to get back to praising GabeN as soon as possible. My specs are as follows: Case- Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow. Motherboard-MSI MPOWER Z77. RAM- Avexir MPOWER 8GB 2400 MHz. Video Card-EVGA GTX 680 Classified 4 GB. Processor-Intel Core i5-3570K @3.9 GHz. Power Supply-PC POWER & COOLING SILENCER Mk III 850W. First: I want to thank all the mods and TechPowerUp for allowing this build to be possible. It's a huge bump up from my laptop. For anyone considering getting an SSD, get one. My computer boots to the login screen in less than 5 seconds. The graphics card is working fantastically for me right now, GeForce Experience is a very nice bit of software that adds to the value, at least for people like me who don't want to spend a long time dialing in their game settings/checking for driver updates. I haven't done any overclocking yet, stock is working just fine for me, and in a couple of weeks I'll be moving to a city with a drastically different average temperature, so I'll wait to OC until I get moved in there. Current temps I'm getting ~38 C idle, and 50C under load. Right now my only complaints are that some of the PSU cables were a bit short for where I would have liked to route them (8-pin motherboard power and PCI-e power especially). My motherboard also boots into the UEFI on every boot for some reason instead of going straight into Windows. If anyone knows why, I'd greatly appreciate the help. Oh, and the 212 EVO was a pain to install. submitted by /u/Da_Busta to r/buildapc [link] [comments]

[Troubleshooting] Windows 8 PC. Crashed and now won't let me login
Hi everyone. I ran into a bit of trouble. Just a few minutes ago I was using Google Chrome, browsing reddit on my desktop when all of a sudden malwarebytes starts going crazy. In about 2-3 minutes, about 50 different things came up, saying "a threat has been quarantined." I look at the list of things that have been quaruntined and I see something like "combase.dll" and "chrome.exe" and a bunch of other things. Chrome stopped working. I could open new tabs and all but whenever I'd try to search something, or type a website URL in, a blank page would come and it wouldn't load. I couldn't start up any other programs. Everything was moving so slowly, I ended up force shutting down my PC. Now after it restarts, I type my password into the login, hit enter, and it won't login. Any ideas?
