I still use the baby soap. Every now and then the big kid sippy cups get regular Mrs Meyers dish soap

London Drugs (BC, Canada) has a fancy new dispenser for select cleaning products. One of them is this dish soap that I like. However, I’m struggling to find a reason as to why it would be more expensive for a refill, rather than to just buy a whole new bottle??? I would’ve thought that the incentive would be to not buy a new bottle, but rather reuse the old one. I just checked my kitchen supply tub to get ready for a trip in a couple of weeks. And I found mold and a strong scent I thought was a mosquito repellent candle. Nope. Mrs. Meyers container of dish soap leaked. I thought maybe I’d put something away with moisture still on it. Sigh- lesson learned. I just watched another cleaning video on Instagram that recommends using Dawn and white vinegar to clean something. And I’m noticing that any video or social media post about cleaning only uses Dawn. Since this is unrelated to laundry, I will delete it if it shouldn't be here. I am asking because poster on this subreddit seem very knowledgeable about cleaning product chemistry. I have been using Mrs Meyers dish soap to hand wash dishes for a long time, and in my experience it seems to cut grease well and cleans dishes as well as Dawn without drying my hands and I don't like the scent of Dawn. A plumber told me to stop using it because it has a high salt content based on sodium methyl 2-sulfolaurate being one of the top ingredients, and that dish soap with high salt content will corrode pipes. I seem to get sick pretty much every time I eat. Even when I eat something that I would think wouldn’t make me sick (like a smoothie or scrambled eggs). I’m at a total loss. I get sick when making home cooked meals even in other people’s homes- and I realized that the common denominator is that I use Mrs. Meyers dish soap and so do ALL of my friends/family members kitchens I have safely cooked myself meals in (I hand wash everything with my own clean sponge + Mrs. Meyers soap). I’m not full crunchy, but make an effort where it currently works for my family. Right now I use Mrs Meyers dish soap. I know Mrs Meyers is known for greenwashing but it seems to be better than P&G products, Dawn, etc. However, I have to use more of Mrs Meyers to get the cleaning power of Dawn. It just makes me wonder, is the larger amount of Mrs Meyers I’m using just as harmful as a lesser amount of Dawn? I’m a big fan of the Loewe Tomato Leaves scent and soap and can’t really justify that $100+ price tag. I bought some Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning supplies recently and they had a Tomato Vine multi surface cleaner which smells amazing. I then saw that they have a Tomato Vine hand soap and dish soap. 🤯 I was already a tomato fan pre-Loewe and bought some of the botanical vine tomato candles from Daylesford in the UK, though not as easy to get in Canada. I remember being so happy when I found Method’s Vetiver and Amber as a Le Labo dupe and this feels like an even bigger win. I get frequent floor restoration cleanings. It’s always at a home that’s been using swiffer wet jet, Mr.clean, fabuloso, etc. most people use way too much of the product, and even when they don’t, the product sticks to the floor. In this, the stickiness collects more micro dirt and dust over time. It’s just not necessary. Also, please sweep/vacuum before you mop! What I use for a standard cleaning on every floor: a self wringing flat mop, a clean water bucket, and a dirty water bucket. In the clean water bucket, I have a couple gallons of warm water and two to three drops of dawn dish soap flor the grease, and two drops of Mrs meyers honeysuckle dish soap for the scent. YOU DO NOT NEED A LOT OF SOAP! Suds are bad! When going to mop the floors, the mop should be damp not soaking wet. Wring that sucker out! When dirty, wring into a separate dirty water bucket so that your mop water stays clean longer. What I use for a deep cleaning/ restoration on tile floors: Hand and knees scrubbing, bristle brush, hydrogen peroxide. As seen in the first few before and after pictures, I used hydrogen peroxide. Followed up with a standard cleaning mopping. What I use for deep cleaning/ restoring hardwood floors: this is the only pre made mop solution I’ll use, and I only suggest this once every year for hardwood floors if mopped properly throughout the year after. I use Murphy oil wood floor soap in a bucket of warm water, I only use half a cap full. Not a lot! A scrub brush, ands and knees scrubbing. Again, clean water and dirty water bucket. To rinse the bristle brush. This is not a debate, you can say you use a swiffer or the other floor solutions and insist that you have clean floors, and I just won’t believe you. I have the Bath and Body Works Fresh Cut Lilacs which I thought smelled a bit air freshener until I smelled a lilac bush that’s now in bloom and realized it’s pretty bang on. Lilacs just smell like that! My local Target store has Mrs Meyers limited edition Lilac scent in nearly all its forms in the clearance aisle for half price, even though the price still shows up at full retail online. Don’t know if it’s something store specific. I got the dish soap, but the Mrs Meyers line also has * room spray * house cleaner * hand soap * candle all in the Lilac scent. The scent is pretty similar though not exactly the same. Very fresh lilac scent like the flowers. The dish soap Retail $4.89, got it clearance $2.44. This is my first Mrs Meyers product. Have to say the pull top lid of the dish soap is very hard to pull up to open. Had to use a gripper! Might not recommend if you have mobility issues. The dish soap itself suds up a lot which I wasn’t expecting for what seems like a more natural brand. As much suds as Dawn. The scent is strong and pleasant. Though wasn’t mingling well with the food scents from the dishes (tomato, meat smells). It took awhile to find more natural cleaning products in a scent that everyone could tolerate and a few years ago, we discovered Mrs. Meyer's Geranium scented liquid detergent and fabric softener and life was good. We also use the dish liquid, spray cleaner and hand soap. Started running out of the laundry detergent and softener a couple years ago and discovered it had been discontinued without any notice. Crap. Not liking the Lavender or the Rain or the Peony. So then we thought maybe we could hack something ourselves with another brand's unscented liquid detergent and maybe use the Geranium dish soap or the hand soap (which haven't been discontinued) and mix it in. Tried calling Mrs. Meyer's to ask for advice and that was a complete dead end and no, they aren't planning on bringing it back. So, to any of you more scientific hackers out there, do you think the formulation of the dish soap or the hand soap would work better in the unscented liquid detergent? Months ago, I found a seasonal dish soap: Mrs. Meyers Acorn Spice. The smell is transcendent, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in a dish soap. I wanted to buy 4 bottles, but forced myself to be calm and only buy one. I could buy it again some other time. I would not hoard this dish soap. This was progress for me. The dish soap changed my life. I washed dishes with happy zeal. Nothing has ever been so clean. I went to the store today and realized I had fucked up bad. The dish soap was gone. Panicked, I even checked the inventory of this store online. Sold out. Seasonal item. I imagined myself breaking down in the soap aisle, sobbing and punching the “I need a store associate to come help me now” button, confused and alarmed by the scents of Not acorn around me. In reality, I left the store in a violently nonplussed fit with only my inhaler prescription in a horrible little paper bag—a paper bag that was soaplessly too light. Taking a hit of said inhaler, I remembered that last month, I had seen a couple of the Mrs. Meyers Acorn Spice All Purpose Cleaning Sprays on clearance. Clearance!!!!! I assumed they were leaky. I assumed the dish soap would stay around through the winter. My eyes were SHUT to the AWFUL TRUTH that it would be gone soon, that the acorn spice “season,” which could never end in my heart, would end by the judgement of Mrs. Meyers herself in what I can only perceive as cruelty. And I had intentionally NOT hoarded it like that was a GOOD and HEALTHY thing to do. My heart is palpitating to the beat of Sarah McLachlan’s “Fallen” while someone beeps at me to pull out of my space in the parking lot. I am in such pain. I've been using BJ's dish soap brand(Dawn knock-off-ish) for quite some years now, but I recently moved and now BJs is far away so I don't have a membership anymore. So, back to square 1 to try dish soaps. In my house we hate Dawn because it doesn't prevent fungus to grow, so it leaves mildew(fungus) smelling dish cloths/sponges. I personally find it very gross the smell and just to spread fungus. And why mixing Dawn with vinegar or something else to prevent this? Vinegar stinks too. We tried Palmolive but is very similar, even though is not mildew still allows something to grow on sponges and causes that off-smell. Then I tried and stayed with Seventh Generation for a while, but in reality it doesn't clean as easily as BJs brand(or ¬¬ Dawn). I recently bought Ecos and is even worse than Seventh Generation. I've read that Mrs Meyers doesn't clean that well, but that usually comes from people who don't like the price, at this point I don't care about the price as long as it cleans.
