A list of every movie Leonard Maltin gave the maximum four-star rating to
Or at least I *believe* that it’s a complete list. Between his “Movie Guide” and “Classic Movie Guide” there are more than 2400 pages in toto. I *think* I got them all down. I *think* I used the final editions of both books. I could easily have made a mistake somewhere. I’ve compiled this list as a reference material for myself and I figured other people might also want to have it around as one. . Jack Schlossberg launches campaign for N.Y. Congressional Seat!
New NY Times article by Maureen Dowd: The scion of the Kennedy family has a skeleton. It lurks in the corner of the living room of his Chelsea apartment, wearing a silk gray and burgundy robe and a brown fedora that belonged to his grandfather. President Kennedy was famous for going hatless, to the dismay of the hat industry. “That’s why, you can tell, it looks completely new,” an amused Jack Schlossberg said. Sitting in front of the skeleton are a few young people with laptops who are busy plotting Mr. Schlossberg’s run for Congress. There’s a whiteboard with “Congressman Jack” scrawled across the top, just above a vintage “Our Man Jack” sign from his grandfather’s 1960 presidential campaign. The prize Mr. Schlossberg seeks is no less than New York’s glittering 12th district — encompassing the United Nations, the Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park and this modest one-bedroom I’m standing in. There are framed prints on the wall near a small gray sofa — Audrey Hepburn, William Shakespeare and Kings of Leon, his favorite band. Mr. Schlossberg likes to joke that he resembles Hepburn, and he told me that he has loved “Henry IV, Part 1” since high school. He recited his favorite passage: “I’ll so offend to make offense a skill; redeeming time when men least think I will.” It is fitting that Mr. Schlossberg, 32, loves Prince Hal, who played around until he rejected Falstaff and tankards and decided to act more responsibly and pick up the mantle of his royal family. Mr. Schlossberg has no Falstaff; he says he doesn’t even drink or use drugs. But, like Prince Hal, he has been searching — dabbling in different jobs and personae. In a sharp departure from the expected path for a Kennedy interested in politics, Mr. Schlossberg entered public life by carving out a role for himself as a charismatic — and sometimes pugnacious, crude and off-the-wall — social media personality, amassing just over 1.7 million followers across X, Instagram and TikTok. Many young people were excited to have another eligible Camelot heartthrob with a thick head of dark hair, this one madly oversharing. If Mr. Schlossberg has been offending to make offense a skill, like Prince Hal, he is also redolent of Hamlet, who feigns being crazy to carry out a serious mission (and ends up doing some crazy things). On social media, Mr. Schlossberg sparred, trolled and went on the attack, often feuding with family members. He explained issues like gerrymandering and posted arguments against President Trump’s initiatives, sometimes using accents to play different people from different classes. He passed on dating advice from his mother, Caroline Kennedy. He engaged in all kinds of high jinks, making videos where he acted like “a silly goose,” as he said, doing ballet and skateboarding while reciting Byron’s “She Walks in Beauty.” His brand of humor confused some people, as when he pretended to be the lawyer for the actor Justin Baldoni. He was also just playing a character when he talked about suffering heartbreak or told his followers he had gone out dancing. “I have never been clubbing,” he told me solemnly. His mother, who is very private and not on Instagram now that she’s no longer an ambassador, noted that her son had identified social media as a weakness in the Democratic strategy. “I’m impressed that he’s thought through the different ways of doing that and is willing to take the consequences when he takes a risk that people find offensive,” Ms. Kennedy said. Mr. Schlossberg’s great-grandfather, Joseph Kennedy, was the O.G. media influencer, figuring out a formula for alchemizing his family’s great hair, great teeth and lace-curtain glamour into political power. Mr. Schlossberg has built an enthusiastic following — and appalled some people — on Instagram, TikTok and, briefly, on a YouTube series this year where “the mission” was to drive around the country in a van and “get the truth out there.” In the description of the now-dormant show, he said it would be “serious — and insane. Just like me.” But then an unexpected opportunity popped up: Jerry Nadler, the liberal stalwart who has represented much of Manhattan in Congress for more than three decades, announced his retirement. Rep. Nadler is likely to back his longtime aide and protégé, the state assemblyman Micah Lasher. Mr. Lasher also once ran the Albany office for Michael Bloomberg, who is said to be strongly supportive. When reports surfaced in September that Mr. Schlossberg might run, Mr. Nadler brushed off the idea on CNN, saying his successor should be someone “with a record of public service, a record of public accomplishment — and he doesn’t have one.” Oddly enough, the disapproval from the establishment makes Mr. Schlossberg an insurgent. And his campaign operation reflects that, with no sign of high-priced strategists or pollsters. He said he trusted his own judgment — and his mother’s. The two are “incredibly close,” as Ms. Kennedy put it, and he has helped her with her duties at the Kennedy Foundation and spent time with her during her diplomatic tours of Japan and Australia. In Japan, Mr. Schlossberg had brief stints working at Rakuten, an e-commerce company, and Suntory, the distillery made famous by Bill Murray in “Lost in Translation.” He is the only grandson of J.F.K., but don’t call him Prince Jack. “I always shudder when I hear royalty associated with our family,” he said. He mentioned his forebear John F. Fitzgerald, the politician known as Honey Fitz (“He picked up a clipboard and organized Irish people in Boston”), adding: “I think that they were really public servants in the end.” Nonetheless, some online have nicknamed Mr. Schlossberg “the People’s Princess.” The slender 6-foot-2 candidate went to Yale, where he volunteered as an E.M.T. “I definitely realized it would be best for everybody if I didn’t pursue a career as a doctor,” he said. From there he got a joint law and business degree at Harvard. After he passed the bar exam in 2023, he boasted in an interview with People, “I scored 332 in New York state, which may have put me in the top 1 percent of test takers.” But he didn’t want to practice law. He took a gig in a surf shop in Hawaii and, during the 2024 election, emulated his glamorous late uncle, John Kennedy Jr., by trying journalism and writing seven opinion pieces for Vogue. His entry into the Congressional race will reveal, in the wake of the wake for the Cuomo dynasty, if the Kennedys are still a potent political brand. When Joe Kennedy III, a former congressman from Massachusetts, tried to unseat Senator Edward J. Markey in 2020, he got trounced in large part by young progressive voters. And the alliance of Mr. Schlossberg’s cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. with Mr. Trump has soured the family name for many Democrats “When it comes to Jack,” said Alex Bores, a fellow millennial and New York state assemblyman who is also running for the 12th district seat, “New Yorkers just voted to end one political dynasty with a storied past and troubled present. We’ll see how they feel about another.” When Mr. Schlossberg’s grandfather and great-uncles were stars of the party, Democrats had the aura of change and idealism. How did that shift to an image of sententiousness? “I think part of it has to do with losing touch with young people and being complacent,” Mr. Schlossberg said. “When I close my eyes and think of what a Democrat is, it’s someone who’s challenging the status quo, who represents counterculture, artists, innovators. We lost touch with that, I think, because we were scared of what we were seeing from the other side and didn’t quite know how to react to it.” He does not agree with those in the Kennedy orbit who think it’s too early for him to run. J.F.K. was 29 when he was elected to Congress, Mr. Schlossberg noted. “Teddy was 30 when he was a senator,” he said. “It hasn’t always just been all old people, old guard.” His bookcase contains a biography of President Kennedy by his speechwriter, Ted Sorensen. Mr. Schlossberg picked it up after a teacher at Collegiate, an all-boys prep school in Manhattan, was irritated that he was not paying attention during a lesson on the Kennedy administration and was ignorant of J.F.K.’s policy in Laos. That set Mr. Schlossberg off on a quest to study his grandfather’s history; he began listening to J.F.K.’s speeches after school. “That was a huge awakening,” he said. On the day after Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of New York City, I interviewed Mr. Schlossberg at the boathouse that serves as the starting point for his stand-up paddle boarding sessions on the Hudson. He looked more polished than in his videos. He was wearing a crisp blue Oxford shirt, Jil Sander black slacks and Redback boots. His hair has grown out from a buzz-cut he got in solidarity with someone close to him who is sick. And he no longer has fake diamond studs in his ear. (A dance enthusiast, he said he had his ears pierced to appear in a “Pirates of the Caribbean” ballet.) He said he thought Mr. Mamdani’s triumph was a positive omen for his own campaign. The 34-year-old democratic socialist had won 65 percent of men and 82 percent of women under 30, and Mr. Schlossberg is confident that he would be good for a district that is a map of his life. He was raised on the Upper East Side and went to school on the Upper West. He endorsed Mr. Mamdani early, before other reluctant Democrats, and defended him against allegations of antisemitism. “New York needs to be a safe place for Jewish people,” said Mr. Schlossberg, who was raised Catholic and whose father, the artist and designer Edwin Schlossberg, is Jewish. “I’m very sensitive to the Jewish community’s concerns, because I feel them, too. It bothers me.” He said that his paternal grandfather, Alfred Schlossberg, worked in the Empire State Building. “He was in the shmatte business,” he said. “He made men’s dress shirts. His wife’s sisters owned a hat shop on 91st and Broadway. I think that I’m a Schlossberg, too, and from this district. This is my home. This is where my family has lived for generations.” He disagreed with Mr. Mamdani's campaign pledge to arrest Bibi Netanyahu if he sets foot in New York, and he chose not to describe the conflict in Gaza as a “genocide.” “I think it’s painfully clear that Israel’s committing atrocities in Gaza,” he said. I asked him how he will earn the votes of those who think he is merely entitled. “I’m certainly proud of my family’s legacy in public service,” he said. “President Kennedy inspires me. My Uncle Teddy fought for health care, immigration, labor, which are still the issues of our time.” Campaigning for Democrats the last couple years, he said he realized that “we need to specifically elect people who both get policy and know how to break through in new media, because it’s a toxic, polluted ecosystem, thanks to the president.” I wondered if he was nervous about campaigning in a political landscape sulfurous with violence, particularly given his family history. “I try not to think about those things,” he said. Mr. Schlossberg became an online presence when he was toying with being an actor like his cousin, the “White Lotus” star Patrick Schwarzenegger. His cameo as a police officer on “Blue Bloods” was as far as he got. “I auditioned for a few things, a show on a streamer playing a cowboy or something, and didn’t get any parts,” he said. “But I believed in myself as a performer. That led me to the social media realm.” Some posts are whimsical; others brutal. In one, he introduces viewers to a crab he finds while paddling in the Hudson, before sending “Sebastian,” as he calls the crustacean, on his way. In another, he extols the joys of fall, urging viewers to “bundle up” and share “harvest season” with friends. He walks along the river lip-syncing Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.” He offers dating advice, telling viewers not to worry if you like someone and they don’t like you back, because “you might not be their cup of tea.” “I’m not for everybody,” he says. “You know, my mom always said that. She said, ‘Jack, you’re a little different than the other guys.’ And she wasn’t wrong.” Other posts are designed to provoke and have been criticized by some followers as “misogynistic,” “manic,” “unhinged” and “bizarre.” Last summer, he slammed Ryan Murphy, the producer of the anthology series “Love Story,” for making John Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette the subjects of the show without consulting the family or earmarking some of the profits for the Kennedy Library. In his attack, he accused Mr. Murphy of taking his uncle’s life and “profiting off it in a grotesque way” and warned that he might visit the set. “I was messing around,” he told me. “I didn’t actually do it.” He also made fun of Mr. Murphy’s appearance — “Looks like a thumb,” he said on Instagram — and posted a picture of him from the 2019 camp-themed Met Gala in a bejeweled cape that was a tribute to Liberace. The caption read “pervert.” “This is a centuries-old vilification meant to condemn and weaponize hate against gay people, and that’s exactly what he did,” Mr. Murphy, who is gay, told me. “And I received threats against my personal safety and that of my family because of it.” “How is that not disqualifying to someone who is asking to represent what has to be one of the highest concentrations of L.G.B.T.Q. voters in one district?” Mr. Murphy said. Mr. Schlossberg denied that calling Mr. Ryan a “pervert” had anything “to do with his personal life,” adding: “In my mind, that’s a form of perversion, to be so obsessed with somebody’s sexuality and their love life, to produce a multimillion-dollar series about them.” At age three, Mr. Schlossberg was the ring-bearer in John and Carolyn’s wedding at Cumberland Island, Georgia —“I remember I saw an armadillo run by” — and John nicknamed him “Jack-o’-lantern.” As an adult, he has mirrored his late uncle’s gestalt — the shirtless, muscular, man-about-parks — in his social media persona. But, as with his grandfather, the hale image is a bit of a mirage, built on pain and grit. During his first year in law school, while playing basketball, he went in for a layup and felt something in his back. “I could barely walk for another four-and-a-half years after that,” he said. Even as he worked, sometimes remotely, to earn his Harvard degrees during the pandemic, he was in pain and anguish about his back — a medical issue J.F.K. also struggled with. “I thought, ‘I’ll never paddle again, I’ll never surf again,’” Mr. Schlossberg said. “I just couldn’t even imagine doing anything, like having a real life.” He underwent two hip procedures. He got the skeleton, now in his apartment, to study anatomy. His bed comprises two massage tables covered in shark-patterned sheets that he has had since eighth grade. Caroline Kennedy said the surgeries and intensive physical therapy added up to “a super painful” and “solitary” experience for her son. “It was quite isolating but I think it built a lot of inner strength,” she said. He found a Pilates teacher named Sharyl M. Curry who “gave me my life back,” he said. Mr. Schlossberg said he could not have become an online personality during the 2024 campaign “if I hadn’t built the confidence that I could pull myself out of something like that and work my way out of it. No matter what, nothing is as bad as not being able to move.” When I asked him for some people to call for this piece, he listed Gerry Pefanis, a doorman in the Upper East Side building where he grew up. “I’m telling you, that guy is a sweetheart,” said Mr. Pefanis, who knew him from the time he was a small boy. He said that Mr. Schlossberg offered to babysit during a weekend when Mr. Pefanis’s wife was away and he had no one to watch his children. “Other kids in the building, they don’t care as long as I get them a taxi and get the door and their packages,” he said. At the starrier end of his character references was David Letterman, who has been friends with the family since Jack was in middle school at Collegiate. “Here’s a kid who paddle boards in the Hudson, up and down, dodging traffic,” Mr. Letterman said. “You can’t get more New York than this kid. And his educational accomplishments, good Lord. I went to Ball State and got Cs.” He said he understood why Mr. Schlossberg used shock value online. “Truthfully, aren’t we at a stage in civilization where, Jesus, what the hell does make a difference?” he said. Of the spicier posts, Mr. Letterman said: “I’m not worried about that, because I think there is a whole swath of the population who understands the difference between being serious and being cheeky. And, by the way, this is the first time I’ve used the word ‘cheeky.’” I asked Mr. Schlossberg about his romantic life. “People often wonder,” he said. “I am very straight.” He added that “one day” he would like to get married and have kids. He tried the exclusive dating app Raya, but got off because “I went on dates for a while and they didn’t really lead me to find love.” If he wins Mr. Nadler’s seat, he would be returning to the Capitol, where he once worked as a Senate page for his Uncle Teddy and family friend, Senator John Kerry. How does he spend his free time? “I paddle, I do ballet class. I don’t really party. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke.” He doesn’t like clubs or restaurants. He cooks simple things like eggs and steak for himself. He said he’d be happy just eating mayonnaise out of a jar. He roots for the Yankees, the Knicks, the Liberty, and the Giants, sort of, noting, “I’ve never been huge on football.” His middle name is Bouvier, and his “silly goose” videos have led several writers to compare him to “Little Edie” Bouvier, Jackie’s flamboyant, kooky cousin who lived at Grey Gardens, the Hamptons estate, with her mother, “Big Edie,” and a clowder of cats. He said he has no pets but would like to get a fish. As we left the pier, I asked him if he felt more like a Bouvier or a Kennedy. “I feel like Jack Schlossberg,” he said. submitted by /u/StellaOC to r/JohnAndCarolyn [link] [comments]

Outfit Fixes part 17!
Hey all! Thanks for welcoming me back on my last post- I'm trucking through some exams and my last year of college so things are hectic. I also wanted to do one more drawing post before I have surgery and I won't be able to draw for a while. Thank you for all of the love and support! First I wanted to address some of my edits that I did the wrong colors to or I could have made look better: https://preview.redd.it/9avngak3cr4e1.jpg?width=1868&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58e85e6881f27340150ca74842295ff1ea753ada The left two: I had put Meghan in orange and green, which are colors of the Republic of Ireland. Instead I put her in royalist blue. The one on the right was her first solo engagement with the queen. I actually managed to fix her hair and gave her a hat to wear to help tame her hair. The final photo on the right shows that that awful cape could be removed (I had never seen this photo and I thought I should add it). https://preview.redd.it/lwz1i2licr4e1.jpg?width=1001&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a7eeeaa92fd117ff04839656b5f6cb9eb444e07 I actually color changed her grey dress and fixed more of the wrinkles. For the Australia trip, I changed the green to yellow so that she was in America's suffrage colors (the green is in Australia's suffrage flag) to provide more variety. I also added a yellow camellia pin, which is a symbol of women's suffrage in Australia instead of the English suffragette pin that I had her wear originally. I also acknowledge that black is an important color to Australians, but I wanted to take it away from her and have her actually wear color and show that she put more thought into what she wore. Now onto the new! Belfast: https://preview.redd.it/8yippb13dr4e1.jpg?width=1276&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27701f0f48ba3bc127e63e896195456634c8f8b8 her coat is huge and doesn't close, her hair is messy, and the sweater isn't artful, its baggy. Her color scheme doesn't make sense unless she is trying to emulate off colors of Ireland's green, white, and orange, which is again Republican colors and not Royalist. Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/uqgxof6ndr4e1.jpg?width=1276&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f1bfbf3fc140a56e33f243a3745c5aec6ca8157 Put her in a closed up coat dress that would give her a bit of figure, changed her accessories and put her in Royalist blue. I smoothed her skirt and put her in a more flattering sweater that would help with her waist. I really liked her skirt so I emphasized it's asymmetry and found a sweater to match it's shape. I found a sweater that I really liked that would look good and then had to basically photoshop it together so it would fit onto her. I gave her a scoop neck shirt and put on a necklace and bracelet that she owns to add a little bit more interest. The Diana Door Close: https://preview.redd.it/a1b5now3er4e1.jpg?width=714&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d8ab6671461f5f401e224ca301c9c07cfc5edf4 Bows on her shoes are sloppy, she is in all black, the triangle on her front is unflattering, and she's dressed for a nighttime event when it is an afternoon event Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/cr7vgku9er4e1.jpg?width=714&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ebb049fbcb340cb49c64d825c6e16de0f17eebe I did lean into 'what if this was for a nighttime event' and put her in red instead. I removed the triangle from her front and gave her a wider V-shaped neckline that would flatter her. I made her mesh sleeves solid and removed the bent bows from her shoes. I put on a necklace and different earrings, both that she already owns to compliment and darkened her lipstick. Eugenie's Wedding https://preview.redd.it/0eqruwroer4e1.jpg?width=634&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b3420168556dbf4dffb307e4fcf2402af334fa3 It is utterly disrespectful to advertise your new "pregnancy" at someone's wedding, birthday, engagement, event, etc. It's tacky as all hell. The neckline- WTF???? and her clutch- where is the red in the outfit that connects it because it doesn't look like a pop of color- plus the blue inside is a different hue from the rest of her outfit. Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/0piw6bw4fr4e1.jpg?width=634&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7dd6ba71f763380f41923f813f3c5596dec3eb23 I have her a more fall-themed color, fixed her neckline, made the coat hide her belly and give her more interest. Added some detail to her hat as well. The pin is a white rose- a symbol of the Yorks, paying homage to Eugenie being the daughter of the Duke of York (F* Andrew though). Her clutch, shoes, and hat are a slightly darker shade of orange. The Lion King Premier https://preview.redd.it/dopyxd2nfr4e1.jpg?width=2332&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab13363de8b89e2d3fe0fbba0a5cdfd1ac0006ea It is too tight and the mesh does her no favors. She's wearing too tight of a bra so because she wanted some cleavage. The wrinkling because of the tightness is also so bad. The bun is too severe for this look. Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/lod0ogowfr4e1.jpg?width=2332&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eef412bb1154add947fb7d0f756d6af143cd985a I gave her a more flattering neckline and waistline. Changed the color and added seams that would help slim her a little. I put her hair down, which would be more flattering. I gave her a necklace that she already owns. I tried to keep her proportions so that I don't make her artificially slim and not body shame her. I removed any excess wrinkling. Polo with "Archie" https://preview.redd.it/z5h8w5ibgr4e1.jpg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d1b015fb2d1492af4a53c568bac0616861a3279 Its a baby poop green smock. Archie isn't covered, he doesn't have a sun hat, his legs and neck aren't supported. Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/flmcvimwgr4e1.jpg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a54f317b6aa89e573e0d8e7ffa84b1720139349 I have her a pretty sundress that would help hide any remaining 'baby bump' as she 'healed' from 'giving birth' while also flattering her. The sundress is blue with birds to mimic the flag of Sussex. I moved her arm to support Archie's neck and swaddled him better. I also gave him a red hat to match Harry's team outfit. I edited in Harry because with how Meghan's dress billowed, it would leave him floating. One Young World Rewear: https://preview.redd.it/1qo93l0fhr4e1.jpg?width=799&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7119b17ad0ba9f43675e1964979f8347337834be It's really baggy in the arms and the shoes don't match. Her hair is horrible and hides her face. Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/4jh0w1wjhr4e1.jpg?width=799&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f480ee91ad9e0935c819b0abf7a05a2b0d1163f I had to change her face (it goes from manic to narcissistic lol) so that it wasn't incomplete. I changed her hair. I have her a more flattering neckline and smoothed her sleeves. The detail on her waist can help to slim it with the illusion. Her shoes stayed the same and the details on the hem, waist, neckline, and sleeves match. Red Sox and Yankees London series https://preview.redd.it/6y8wcwf1ir4e1.jpg?width=936&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bec18a3bebf267e00b66be3e451fc21c19a598b0 Her hair shortens her and the large belt makes her smaller waist become even more shortened. The flats have the ridiculous bows on the back (the bows are cute but Meghan refuses to take care of them and this event is sporty) Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/dze5pqh6ir4e1.jpg?width=656&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0c410a2e4d6bc67349a4d8e25f0f99f0d376626 Two options: Black and pink/red Black for Invictus, and pink to match the Rockford Peaches, one of the first female baseball teams, one of the two longest running teams, and the team that had the most wins in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. They also had a movie and TV show made after them. I took inspo from their outfits and more modern baseball outfits. I gave her a ponytail and closed the backs of her flats. Changed the neckline and placed a thinner bow belt lower on her waist. I tried to keep true to her body shape but it is just so weird. I gave her 3/4 sleeves because they look the best on her. Royal Ascot https://preview.redd.it/qvcrnq5djr4e1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d3ca6ebd7493a05ea49f07c36ab290c5c12e328d The napkin dress cut is kinda cute but not for this. The shirt dress isn't flattering for royal engagements as I feel like it's too informal. She also refused to wear her nametag, instead she just holds it. Catherine wore it her first few times to Royal Ascot before she stopped wearing it. Harry is wearing his. Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/pdspd5ktjr4e1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c7548d153346ee6a144659779cde8007749b923 I changed her hem and the color, adding a little subtle contrast on the lace to make it stand out. I changed her hat, shoes, and accessories to match as well. I erased the tag she was holding and made her wear it. On it says what her title was: HRH The Duchess of Sussex. Under it in purple was some gold lettering that I found to be the day of the week (which I found they attended on a Tuesday) and underneath that the year, (so I put 2018). I also smoothed wrinkles Straubenzee's Wedding https://preview.redd.it/aaoi38pakr4e1.jpg?width=780&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de9aceac50f56770cc14092c38505b956f8951b7 The bra slip was definitely intentional- a shirt that loose wouldn't unbutton unless it was poorly made and it was designer. The skirt pattern isn't flattering at all, and who wears black to a funeral?? Also sticking your tongue out- ew, you're in your late 30's. Fixed: https://preview.redd.it/u3uvph4mkr4e1.jpg?width=780&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=915ca0b15f381298462232770483d270ffe2d5b1 Changed everything to green, solidified the skirt and added trim. Changed her clutch to match the belt I added. I carved off the bagginess of the shirt as I changed it to a dress. I gave her a higher neckline with some interesting trim, which prevents any draw from showing. The hat I added contrast by making the swirls lighter. I also added some color to her lips and eliminated the tongue poke. submitted by /u/rangerhorsetug to r/SaintMeghanMarkle [link] [comments]

New York Carnival 46 (A Wizard Knows the Name of All Things)
Moving the story along with a series of vignettes. Not much else to say, here. I think Rosi shows up in two chapters, but next week will probably be back to Sifal. Poor girl hasn't had a chapter in a bit, what with all her new herbivore coworkers stealing the spotlight. [First] - [Prev] - [Next] ---------------- Memory Transcription Subject: Chiri, Gojid Refugee Date [standardized human time]: November 2, 2136 The day passed methodically, each of us honing our craft until night fell and the proverbial dinner bell rang. On my end, I had a more intuitive grasp of Terran distilled spirits than I’d had yesterday, and on David’s end, the flatbread came out chewy and fluffy, and with some refinements, at least one and a half fillings were ready for market already. Two and a half, if you counted the pizza he’d made for dinner. David had informed me in no uncertain terms that the only correct way to eat pizza in New York was holding a slice folded up in one hand while either hunched over a counter or while walking. He was in the shower again--apparently all the sweating meant that humans needed to bathe daily, or they’d start smelling ‘off’--and I was trying my best not to drip tomato sauce and deliciously gooey cheese onto the rug of his reading nook as I browsed through his little library. Analog, too! It felt like I was in an antique store, seeing words laid out on bound paper. Of course, one of the upsides to digital media was the ease of translation. Still couldn’t read English, personally. Fortunately, I had a very helpful voice whispering secrets to me. Me? said the odd voice. Obviously not, said the critical voice. You’re the embodiment of this ridiculous obsession she has with throwing herself as far from the Great Protector’s light as possible. I, on the other hand, am making her stronger, harder, and more able to survive these tumultuous times. I meant my holopad’s AI assistant. You two aren’t even real. That’s ridiculous, the odd voice objected. You’re perceiving me. That makes me real. You’re… inaudible, was the best counterargument I could muster. I quickly pulled my holopad out and asked for a summary of the books I was looking at before either of the voices could respond. The variety was surprising. Naturally, David owned a number of books on the culinary arts, including one on dry-aging root vegetables in mold, of all things, that he'd left out on a side table the other day. I don’t think he’d gotten around to reading it yet. But he also had books on art and philosophy, politics, business, and endless fictional stories of adventures and intrigue in fantastical realms. There were even a few books on… Predator Disease, said the critical voice, drawing my attention to a thick referential tome on the subject of the functions of the mind. The human mind, specifically, but perhaps there was some overlap with the Gojid mind. You’ve been through a lot, lately. You should seek help. My quills flared in alarm against my best efforts. I took another bite of pizza, making sure to aggressively send along the delicious sensations of melty mozzarella and (admittedly plant-based) sausage slices at the critical voice. Yes, I know, she said. That’s why I’m not telling you to seek help from a person. Any Predator Disease professional would have you locked up forever after your heinous food crimes. I’m suggesting we read a book on the subject and self-reflect a bit. That’s stupid and boring, said the odd voice. We’re already self-reflecting right now. You should read that other book on human magic. Deep down, everyone secretly wants to be a wizard. Maybe Terran magic actually works! We’d be fools not to check it out. The critical voice was stunned to flabbergasted silence. That’s stupid and interesting, she begrudgingly said at last. That still made it sound like a step up. My AI companion scanned the label, and helpfully informed me that the centuries-old guide to divining the future using playing cards was, in fact, legally a part of the ‘public domain’, and she could therefore translate it for me for free. I was a bit fuzzy on the legal details, but it sounded like it was part of a museum piece showcasing Terran culture. Convenient, on the whole, considering I wasn’t pulling a paycheck yet. You should still read something about mental health, said the critical voice. Do they have anything that’s in the public domain, about mental health, AND about magic? the odd voice asked, excitedly. I repeated the voices’ queries aloud, and the AI assistant flagged a match. “Downloading ‘The Collected Works of Carl Gustav Jung’,” she chirped. I finished the slice of pizza I was holding, licked my pawpads clean, and listened to the AI assistant read my new books aloud to me. I was a few minutes into an overview of the Tarot when I started worrying about my boyfriend. David’s been in the shower for a while, the critical voice pointed out. Do you think he’s okay? Almost certainly. Counterpoint: he told you that humans who die in the bath smell like pork soup. Is that the last sensory memory you want to have of David? I took a personal moment to scream internally, and then I paused my holopad’s playback and marched back up the vile staircase to the upstairs bathroom. “Hey, you alright in there?” I asked, sticking my head in. “Guh!” David exclaimed from behind the roar of water. “Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry, just zoned out.” He shook his head. “I was thinking about what might go with a chimichurri sauce. Something crispy, obviously, but that’s a big category, you know?” I had no idea what he was talking about, but the fact that he was talking was strong evidence that he was still alive. “You’ll get there. Happy to taste-test some prototypes tomorrow,” I said, leaving him to his musings. I flicked a command active on my holopad, and continued listening to some good old-fashioned Terran audiobooks. All journeys began with The Fool… ---------------------------- Memory Transcription Subject: Chiri, Gojid Refugee Date [standardized human time]: November 3, 2136 I sat at the bar, listening intently to my impromptu audiobook on the Tarot as I sipped at the cocktail I’d thrown together. Bamboo, it was called. Bamboo was a woodsy grass, generally, but the cocktail had nothing to do with it beyond being invented by someone who lived where it grew. Most Terran cocktails followed a straightforward pattern: a base spirit, plus various mixers to season it, like bitters, syrups, and fruit juices. The Bamboo cocktail did its own thing, rising up like an inexplicable weed. It was a mix of various odd strongwines and bitters. Sherry and vermouth? Ridiculous. It was a cocktail that would never work unless you understood the component ingredients, and I was starting to. It was a step further along on my journey. Past the Fool lies the Magician, said the odd voice. The beginner’s luck fades, pale and weary, before the skill of those practiced at the craft. “Oh shit, really?” said David, from the kitchen. Was he talking to me, or…? “That’s perfect! Yeah, I’m like right around the corner. I don’t have a truck, but I can set up a stand, sure. I’d love to be there. Toss my name in the hat, put in a good word, whatever it takes. Alright, thanks, bye.” He stepped out of the kitchen, looking excited. “Mets and Yankees are throwing an exhibition game to raise support for rebuilding the city,” David said, directly to me this time, and clearly expecting me to know what any of that meant. “Sorry, who?” I said. David blinked. “Right. Haven’t really covered baseball yet. Old American team sport that revolves around throwing a little ball around, hitting it with a stick, then running like hell. The Mets and the Yankees are the two big teams from New York. Buuuuuut…” He grinned. “Because it’s less damaged and closer to that new spaceport over at Floyd Bennett Field, they’re playing at Maimonides Park. That’s the Mets’, uh, trainee team’s field--again, go Cyclones--and best of all, it’s nearby. Honestly, with the intervening buildings down, you can probably see it from upstairs.” I think I knew the place he was talking about? I nodded slowly. “Alright, so what’re we doing there?” “Couple of local restaurants are stepping in and selling food there instead of the usual concession stands,” David said. “We gotta get on the list. First chance we have to make some money, aaand…” He paused to grin excitedly. “The first group of Yotuls will be there!” My keen business sense pieced the puzzle together immediately. “We can debut our herbivore-friendly menu,” I said, but that was obvious. A little predatory thinking further and… “If we’re part of the first positive memory aliens have of Earth, they’re going to be hooked on us. We could pick up our first batch of regulars!” “Exactly! Assuming I can outcook the other stands,” said David, conspicuously trying to avoid looking more smug than usual. “Which… well, I’m not the best chef in New York City just quite yet, but unless the rest of the food stands are staffed by the entire fucking Michelin Guide, I like my odds.” I nodded. “Alright, you want me slinging cocktails, or…?” “Oh, definitely not,” said David. “Alcohol needs its own license to be sold. I have one for this building, not for random sporting events. I want you on front of house: taking orders and handling money.” Again, I nodded. Straightforward enough. “What's my cut?” I said, smirking. David snorted. “You’re still legally not supposed to be here yet,” he said, wryly. “That makes it tricky to pay you directly. I can either gift you a third of net profits as a ‘present’, or I can grant you one wish.” Think of all the things we could get with a wish! the odd voice said, excitedly. Most of the things we’d wish for can be purchased with a third of a day’s profits, the critical voice said dryly. “I wish for half of the net profits,” I said, smirking. David laughed. “Fine. It’s one day, and it’s more about getting our name out there than anything else. I can spare it. Make sure to look your cutest.” I glared at him playfully. “I am always at maximum cuteness!” ---------------------------- Memory Transcription Subject: Chiri, Gojid Refugee Date [standardized human time]: November 4, 2136 I sat on the seashore, listening to my audiobooks, wrapped up in a warm jacket over my own fur. David was inside the stadium or whatever, behind me, negotiating the details of where we’d set up our food stand. I still didn’t enjoy watching him argue with people, and negotiations were arguments where there was money on the line. I was keeping a spare eye on Toki, who was frolicking in the sand, though that placed my other eye tilted over at the ruins of Luna Park. The Moon, the hidden world, said the odd voice. The other you, the reflection below the surface of the water. This was where your rebirth began. Your self-inflicted baptism in Earth’s seas. It was over there that you and I first spoke. And look at you now! I glanced down at myself in confusion. The… the jacket? The odd voice sighed and shook its head. How do I teach this girl? The critical voice chimed in, baffled, but trying her best. I mean, credit where credit’s due, you’re doing a lot better than a few days ago. Place to live, a job, a plan going forward… even got a bit of a mentor/lover thing going on with a local. I hate to say it, but this whole “Let’s become a mighty hunter” thing seems to have paid off for us. I was prepared to leave it at that, and savor the sense of ‘Glad you see it my way, finally,’ but the odd voice chimed back in. Yes! That’s the hero’s journey. The human monomyth, as laid out in the Tarot. I’d had some thoughts, but this was the first time I’d really considered trying to put the whole puzzle together. “What do you mean?” I said, aloud. Our hero begins as a Fool, a plucky doofus who knows nothing. She faces the call to adventure, stumbling, relying more on luck and determination than skill. Then she encounters the Magician, a mentor figure who teaches her the skills she needs to survive. The critical voice chimed in. Sure, fine, and the next four cards--Priestess, Hierophant, Empress, Emperor--represent inexplicably gender-coded mastery of the spiritual and physical worlds, respectively. When did we tick all of those boxes? David probably was serving double-duty as the Magician and some of the masculine archetypes, but the Empress, worldly feminine power… I hadn’t really spoken to that many women lately. David’s cousin’s wife, the lawyer Erin Brenner, maybe? I still had some feelings to unpack there--mostly a sense of inadequacy--and I didn’t care to do so right now. Not every journey has to hit all the cards, said the odd voice. Next are the tests of character. The Chariot, the Lovers, Strength, Temperance… all the challenges of virtue and choice a budding young hero might encounter. The critical voice was unmoved. We’re not going through all twenty-something of the Major Arcana and pretending they have life lessons specific to us. That’s ridiculous. Also, you’re ignoring the minor arcana. What does the Three of Cups mean to us? The odd voice bristled like she was aghast. The Three of Cups represents community and emotional support. You know, like we’re cultivating here on Earth? Gods, were you not paying attention to the audiobook at all? The critical voice snorted. I was not paying attention, correct. I was monitoring sensory data for threats, which is my fucking job. Keep us alive, not indulge in these ridiculous fantasies. You want fantasies? Fine: Fortune, representing the vagaries of fate beyond our control. The Tower, representing ruin. See? I was listening during the big parts. But the better question is, if this is meant to be ordered, why are those cards, representing the loss of our home and our culture, earlier in our journey than the Fool? The Campbellian Hero’s Journey doesn’t always hit every plot beat, and doesn’t always happen in the same order! the odd voice shouted. Recall, one of the classic calls to adventure is the ruined hometown. We never would have left the Cradle if it hadn’t fallen. We never would have begun our journey. We never would have become what we were always meant to be! We were meant to be a distiller at the family orchard! the critical voice shouted. We were meant to be good little herbivores living in safety and security! We were not meant to live in a comfortable lie! the odd voice shouted back. I rubbed my head in frustration. I was starting to feel warm, like a computer that was running too hot. I knew the voices were just me--just my overactive imagination parsing out my thoughts socially, like a herd within--but this was… all my intrusive thoughts going into overdrive at once. You’ve been bottling them all up the past few days, said the critical voice. You have to process things from time to time, Chiri. Especially when you’re binge-reading about mysticism and what thoughts can represent, the odd voice agreed. And what do you two represent? We’ve been over this, said the critical voice. I’m your self-flagellating side. Telling you to be better, stronger, and more able to stay alive. This predatory stuff has been making me stronger. You’ve admitted it. Why are you still hammering on the idea that I need to be a good little herbivore? The critical voice recoiled like she hadn’t been expecting an argument. You’re… you… this is what we’ve learned for the first twenty-seven years of your life. Sue me for falling back on old reliable habits. These are the instincts that have kept you safe. These are the instincts I’ve been repressing because they’re what I’ve grown to hate about myself! I blinked, and sucked in a breath of chill ocean air. I’d heard that phrase before. That… that had been in Jung. Different aspects of your personality and psyche--the Anima and Animus, various ideas and concepts of other people out in the world… and the Shadow. The things you hate about yourself, and try desperately to visualize as separate from you. You know. Like an external voice you could talk to. You’re my Shadow, I thought. There was a sound of disgust and defeat. If that’s how it’s gotta be, Shadow grumbled. Think of me however you like, just never stop listening, or it’s both our asses on the line. I nodded, and turned my thoughts to the other voice. What in the world are you, then? The odd voice was quiet and contemplative for a bit. Silence inside my head, and outside of it, the sound of the ocean, and the ruins of Luna Park in the background of my field of vision. I’m the other you, I think, said the odd voice. Dream and reflection. Musing about what could be and what could have been. Something new to you, and something very old. I recalled the last stretch of the Tarot. Past the ruin of the Tower lay the Star, guiding us onwards towards where we needed to be. And next came the Moon, which represented… dreams, reflections, and introspection. What’s the old word for Earth’s moon? asked Luna, answering her own question. In which park did we first speak? I nodded decisively. Luna was a pretty name. -------------------- Memory Transcription Subject: Chiri, Gojid Bartender Date [standardized human time]: November 7, 2136 Back at the bar, I cradled a vegan Ramos Gin Fizz as I started making notes to myself about potential unique cocktails I could serve… or even bottle and can for my own enterprise. I’d picked up so many techniques and recipes over the past few days. The cocktail beside me was proof of my burgeoning skill: it mixed lemon, lime, and dairy, which could curdle itself in the citric acid if I mixed it in the wrong order, plus I needed to substitute it out for a dressed up coconut cream so any of our Yotul customers might buy it. Then it was topped up with the foam from a frothed-up egg white, which would kill me, so David had walked me through the process of using tinctures of aquafaba--the water used to cook beans in, of all things!--and some curious powder called xanthan gum to keep it extra foamy. It was one of the most complicated cocktails I could find a recipe for, and it was… not my masterpiece, but my journeyman’s piece. Proof that I was a bartender in full. I was scribbling my inspirations away with a pen on paper, like the olden days--it was going to be another few days before my holopad would finally get the update for the Gojid language and alphabet, so I was roughing it a little bit to get by--when David received another phone call. I ignored it for the moment, since I was really drilling down into some of the most interestingly fruity flavors I could muster without just resorting to drowning things in juice, but David marched into my section of the restaurant with another excited look on his face. “Good news about the baseball game?” I guessed. David did a double-take. “Huh? Oh, no, that’s all settled. Good news about your visa paperwork. It’s almost done, with one little exception: you have the right to formally change your name, if you like.” I recoiled. “What? I like my name. Do you not like the name Chiri or something?” “What? No, that’s not what I mean,” David said, startled. “Sorry. I meant, humans typically have two names. I wasn’t suggesting you ditch Chiri, I was asking if you’d like to pick a second name. Like a family name?” I sat fully upright on the barstool. “Now that… that’s an interesting question,” I said, noncommittally. “Hadn’t really considered it much. How, uh… if I wanted to pick one, how would I go about it?” David rubbed the light fluffy brown fur on his chin. He typically preferred to shave it clean, but he’d been really focused on his recipe research for the past few days and had been skipping some minor grooming. “Well, there’s a couple different styles of surnames, as I understand it. Professional names are pretty common. Descendents of a metalworker might call themselves Smith or Schmitt or something, which is pretty common. A barrel-maker might go by Cooper.” “What’s the name for a distiller?” I asked. David stared at me, deadpan. “Brenner.” I blinked. “Right! Yes, you mentioned that. Okay. Umm… what about a bartender?” David shrugged. “Not sure. That’s kind of a modern profession. I don’t know if there is one.” He waved his hands around to search for that information online. “Internet says Taverner is allegedly a name, but I’ve never heard it spoken before. Maybe Chiri Vintner, for a family who owned a winery?” I didn’t much care for the ring of that. “Ehh, I’m not feeling it. Are they all profession names, or…?” “Nah, there’s also descriptors and place name,” he said. “Brown is a common surname. Chiri Brown?” I made a face. “It’s got a ring to it, I guess, but Brown describes every Gojid. Place names, though?” David thought for a moment. “Uh, sure. I think that’s more common out East? Like, most Japanese surnames follow basic descriptors for where they’re from. Kimura, for example, is something like ‘from the village with the trees’. In the west… I dunno. I guess landed gentry sometimes named themselves after their ancestral estate?” We have an ancestral estate, Luna pointed out. Had, said Shadow bleakly, but the name is still there. I nodded. That would work. “My ancestral estate was Garnet Orchards,” I said. “How does Chiri Garnet sound?” David savored the taste of it like a sip from one of my experiments. “You know, I kinda like it.” He smiled, and held his hand out. “Pleasure doing business with you, Miss Garnet.” “The pleasure is all mine, Mister Brenner,” I said, grasping his hand in my paw. submitted by /u/RegulusPratus to r/NatureofPredators [link] [comments]

Material is softer than a normal Gildan tee and the text on the front feels durable. Tags look good and overall a very dope shirt. - https://imgur.com/a/xo5dTzh   AWGE or Nothing Red on White Tee - Large (Fits Medium) - $25 - Lightly used, shirt is in amazing condition and has the correct printed tags. Print on the front is vibrant and the blank is really soft and breathable for the upcoming hotter seasons. - https://imgur.com/a/OerM8hF nbsp; Guess Men’s Classic Triangle Logo Tee - XL (Fits Medium) - $14 - Not gonna lie, Youtuber Harrison Nevel put me on this tee when I saw it in a video a few months back (he a clown for leaking FR tho lmao). Sick design and the tee is pretty thick as well with a high-quality print on the front. - https://imgur.com/a/uP4McDT   ASSC Porsche Tee - XL (Fits Wide Small) - $15 - The only reason this fits a little weird is that I got it tailored for 10 bucks in order to shorten the length but the tailor-made it too short for my taste. If you’re a size small and like oversized shirts then this is definitely for you, here’s the measurements just in case: Length: 24.5 Inches / Width: 22.2 Inches. It also has really faint stain on the front but it’s most likely to come out with one wash. https://imgur.com/a/yvseIVM   WTAPS Logo Tee - Fits Medium - $25 - Another nice and extremely soft shirt but has a soft thickness to perfect for the weather right now. Size tags and wash tags seem on point and the tags and the front logo is extremely clean. - https://imgur.com/a/3mIyBMC   Navy Stone Island 3M Tee with Ribbed Collar - Large (Fits Small) - $25 - Nice quality shirt with an extremely soft blank. Tags look on point to retail and this is a really highly regarded rep on FR and is definitely high quality. It’s from UK which is probably one of the best must cops from Taobao. - https://imgur.com/a/ZWSb2Z8   Patagonia Yellow Logo Tee - Fits Medium - $13 - Same as the shirt above, super comfy and soft shirt. It does not have the correct tags but the logo is extremely durable and well made. Overall nice tee even though I urge everyone to own retail Patagonia as well, my retail down jacket has been the best clothing investment of my closet IMO. - https://imgur.com/a/spPwMwn   Kith x Champion Navy Tee - Small - $30 - Another piece from UK and this is a must cop from FR. It’s an extremely accurate and comfortable rep with very accurate embroidery of the logo on the front. Has correct placement of Champion logo on the sleeve and overall this is a well-made replica. - https://imgur.com/a/VBpnIS9   Rare Retail Stussy Vintage Gucci Crewneck - Small - $40 - Take it for a steal but all the information I have on this piece is from this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/stussy/comments/fnvwfo/ill_venmo_3_dollars_or_gold_to_whoever_can_id/flbwebi/ which appraised it at 50-90 bucks. I bought it from one of those hypebeast thrift stores when I visited Fairfax and thought it was fire but didn’t fit me. - https://imgur.com/a/lLBGhBN   Bape Camo White Tee - XL (Fits Small) - $28 - Nice quality tee which is a bit on the thicker side which is great for the brisk spring days. It has a nice purple color in the camo and is definitely well made with accurate tags despite sizing and the correct sleeve tags as well. - https://imgur.com/a/ZwNxKxh   Tommy Jeans Sailing Gear Flag Crewneck - Fits Small - $30 - Identical to retail from the comfort to the embroidery. Logo on the front looks perfect and identical to retail. No tags. - https://imgur.com/a/IPvoLsI   Stone Island Box Logo Shirt- COLORS LEFT: Dark Grey (Small) - $25 -I have kept a few colors for myself such as Black and Light Green, but am looking to offload on these other colors. Each has been worn a few times and has minor blemishes but a simple wash can get them brand new. - https://imgur.com/a/9mPJ1PR   Tommy Jeans New York City Tee - XL (Fits Medium) - $16 - Brand new with tags. First off, the print on the front is extremely well made and similar to retail, not being too glossy as the budget batches are. Sleeve tags are on point and overall the blank is really comfortable making this a very nice rep. - https://imgur.com/a/Be8rYnj   Palace Palace Vertical Logo Tee - Medium (Fits Small) - $23 - Comfortable shirt with the correct printed tags similar to retail. Very unique design from the original Palace tees that have a tri-ferg and it’s a fresh tee IMO. - https://imgur.com/a/6tmwluB   Raf Simmons x Joy Division Flower Tee - Large (Fits Medium) - $36 - Huge grail piece from DesignerReps. Beautiful shirt but I have way too many flex white shirts so I want to sell this. Lightly used and has the correct logos on the sleeves, tags, and the print on the front is extremely well made. High tier replica of a grail piece. - https://imgur.com/a/VyDbNT0   2009 Supreme x WTAPS Eastern Conference Metal Militia - Extra Large - FOR TRADE - Really rare replica and only want to trade for a large. The blank of the hoodie is extremely soft and thick while the colors and print are vibrant and well made. The tags look on point from the wash tags, size tags, and front tags used for the hoodie as well. - https://imgur.com/a/c4Akpc845   Kith x Champion Crewneck Grey UnionKingdom - Medium (TTS)- $45 - Never used. One of the best cops from UK IMO, I have it in Navy which is the color I decided to keep as I have a lot of grey in my closet already. Crewneck is a nice thick and soft quality and overall this is a must cop on Fashionreps. - https://imgur.com/a/BuVxWsF   Tommy Hilfiger Denim Jacket LoveMedusa - Fits Small - For Trade - An extreme grailed piece, for those that don’t know LoveMedusa was an extremely shitty seller communication and shipping wise, but had some quality stuff when he shipped. They don’t sell this piece anymore but I’m looking to trade for any of the things I mentioned above. - https://imgur.com/a/ebKt2Wo   Fear of God Essentials Cream Hoodie Photo Back - Large - $45 - Also in perfect condition and has a nice feel to the blank. In amazing condition still as these were used around three times only. - https://imgur.com/a/84BXlvk   Air Max 1 Anniversary Royal - Size 8.5 - $55 - Best batch out, I know there are two versions, one where the toe box is extremely stretched back and makes the whole shoe look weird and then there's this one. Worn three times and as you can see in the photos I made sure to take care of them although I did step on something as seen on the bottom of the shoe. - https://imgur.com/a/c1vmP6T   CDG x Converse White Low Tops - Size 9.5 - $32 - Well worn but still have a lot of life left. Cost of these shipping was like 70ish from Tao so take this for a good deal. - https://imgur.com/a/LmQl2VZ   Nike Element 87 Thunder Blue/Total Orange - Size 9.5 - $50 - Used twice but to it’s not my kinda shoe. Pretty sick and breathable design while the color is really eye popping IMO. I don’t have the original laces on the shoe but I discounted the cost if you want to buy replacement ones as well, or I can add some laces with these shoes if you want. - https://imgur.com/a/bI53Ovr   Undefeated Air Max 97 White Will’s Batch - Size 10 - $75 - Will’s batch whos the best at the moment and has been used a few times. Sells for 109 from the website so I want to list at 75 which I think is fair as it’s been used but is still in amazing condition. - https://imgur.com/a/HV3F7g2   Yeezy Powerphase OG - Size 8.5 (Fits 9) - $55 - Bought these at the same time I bought some Chicago’s off Will. Came with StockX tag and box which I discarded and these shoes have only been worn less than 5 times. - https://imgur.com/a/cOIbQHn   Revenge x Storm Plaid’s - Size 9.5 - $50 - Bought from the 60 dollar batch off Taobao which had more colors such as these Plaid ones and the velcro ones, and I saw multiple QC’s with pretty good bolt placements. Worn only a couple of times and overall it’s a beautiful shoe. - https://imgur.com/a/NQvQlvL   Air Max 1 Royal Blue from BM Lin - Size 9 - $25 - Used frequently as part of my rotation, but a quick cleanup and you can get these looking like brand new. - https://imgur.com/a/uP6LQns   Retail Jordan XX8 SE All-Stars - Size 9 - $35 - Used to hoop in but still have a lot of life left in them. She says for the first time ever women will main event Wrestlemania and she has only one thing to say, you're welcome, and then drops the mic. She picks it back up and says she does has something else to say, she is going to tap out both Becky and Charlotte just for everyone who doubted her, and drops the mic again. She picks it back up and says she doesn't know what a "beat the clock challenge" is and calls is a BS gimmick. The Riott Squad come down to the ring. Becky is out next and says it's good to be back in Boston and tells Ronda she came in with her big money contract and everyone yawned, no one cared until The Man came around. She says she saved Ronda's title reign and is the reason they are main eventing, Wrestlemania ends with her title in her hand and her head beneath her foot. Charlotte comes out next and mocks Ronda and Becky chattering on and says they are main eventing not because of what Becky has done the last 6 months or what Ronda did in the last years, it's because of what she did in the last 7. That is why she was hand picked to main event Wrestlemania. Before their match again Balor Lio Rush says his road to Wrestlemania goes through them and it isn't a road he doesn't want to go through. Instead he is going to be beaten out of the game like a broken, hot, piece of garbage, just like Rob Gronkowski. Lio says thanks to Braun Strowman he isn't cleared to compete tonight so instead Lashley will team with Jinder Mahal against Finn. Elias is shown in Times Square. He says some of the most famous artists have performed here but it'll be nothing compared to what he does at Wrestlemania. He says Times Square is usually empty this time of night but all these people came to walk with him. He begins to play when a random street performer approaches him and plays much better, and even shows him up with his singing. Elias tells him to go perform in a subway. Drew McIntyre says he doesn't give a damn if you like him but you better respect him. He says a week is a long time for an answer but he understands why Roman is nervous. He plays a clip of him beating down Roman two weeks ago and says to look into Roman's eyes since they show that he knew Drew could have ended it at any time. He says for the love god that he hopes his wife or another family member got it through his skull and convinced him to say no. He's demolished The Shield, destroyed Dean Ambrose, and just last week he beat the number one contender Seth Rollins. Drew says he knows that Roman would never say no to a challenge but tells Joe to think about his children and his family, they already had to watch their daddy fight for their life once, why would he make them do it again when he knows he will lose? Drew says he will stand there all night until he gets his answer and then Roman's music hits and he makes his way out to the ring and goes face to face with McIntyre. Roman speaks in the third person and accepts the challenge. He then says the next words aren't coming from Roman, never talk about his wife and kids. He then hits Drew with a sucker punch and begins to beat him down and throws him out of the ring. He throws McIntyre into the barricade and then back into the ring. Drew hits a low blow on Roman before he can attack again. As Roman recovers Drew sets up for the Claymore kick and nails Roman with it. He steps over Roman's body as officials tell him to leave. Drew is walking backstage when he runs into Dean Ambrose. Dean asks if he thought he exterminated him, because he doesn't feel exterminated. Dean asks him to try again tonight in a last man standing match. McIntyre says he doesn't understand how Amrbose is standing but he accepts the challenge. As Tamina and Nia beat down Sasha and Nia Beth Pheonix is able to fight them off by sending Nia to the outside and then hits the Glam Slam on Tamina. As her and Nattie stand in the ring they look down at Sasha and Bayley on the outside and stare at their titles. Kurt Angle is interviewed backstage and says he appreciates Samoa Joe coming to Raw this week and says his farewell tour isn't just about hugs and saying goodbye, it's about proving what he's accomplished over his career. Baron Corbin comes up to him and asks how long he's been competing and says that the crowd cheers him because they feels sorry for him. He should have retired ten years ago and after Mania the headlines will read 'Olympian Embarrasses Himself'. Angle simply says screw you to Baron. Sasha and Bayley are interviewed backstage about the competiton in the Women's Tag division. Sasha says if everyone is gunning for their titles they will take them all on at Wrestlemania. It's time for a Moment of Bliss. Alexa says ever since she became host Wrestlemania has been getting better and better, she then takes credit for the Women main event. She says she is at a crossroads though because her reputation could be ruined because of the friction between Braun Strowman and Collin Jost from SNL. She hopes tonight's Moment of Bliss is a moment of healing and invites out Braun Strowman. She says we've all seen what happened when Braun loses his temper and goes over some of his rampages including flipping an ambulance, tearing down the Raw set, and destroying Vince's limo. Braun owns up to all of that. Alexa asks what'll happen if Collin or Michael got those hands. Braun says that when he destroyed that car a few weeks back all he saw was Collin's pale face. Collin and Michael join us live from New York via satellite. Collin owns up that he made a mistake last time when they were in Philly and put on a Mets life, this time he won't make the same mistake, instead he puts on a Yankees hat. Michael says he's always been a WWE fan and fan of Braun but says he needs to calm down and listen to Collin. Collin says he is smart, he went to Harvard, his parents paid millions so he could be on the Women's crosscountry team. Collin says he could teach Braun how to eat properly, how to read, and how to do his taxes even. He says Braun is probably 5'11 and 180 pounds. Michael just shakes his head as Collin says Braun needs to apologize, pay him back for the car, and get a Brock Lesnar autograph for him or else they're out of Wrestlemania. Braun says Collin posted that he wanted to solve this mentally, emotionally, or physically, Braun chooses option 3 and wants Collin to enter the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Collin tries to back out but Braun lays it out, in the Battle Royal he can at least hide behind other superstars or he and Michael can meet him backstage. Michael tells Collin just to do it so he doesn't get hurt to. Collin says Michael has to enter it as well but he tries to coward out. Braun asks Alexa to make it offical, she tries to say she can't sacrifice Wrestlemania's credibility for Braun's bloodlust, but then swerves and says of course she'll do it and makes it offical! Elias is outside of Madison Square Garden and says it isn't The Garden in Boston but both are dumps and he sold out MSG 3 times. He says he is just sitting there enjoying his herbal tea when someone mistakes him for a hobo and puts a quarter in his cup, which Elias takes. Seth Rollins comes out and says he is going to cut right to the chase, he and Brock are not cut from the same cloth and the roads they are taking to Wrestlemania couldn't be more different, but the road out will be forged by who hold the Universal Title, him or Brock Lesnar. He says he wants that weight because he wants to be a champion who inspires people, like the champions he saw growing up, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Triple H, even John Cena inspires people, while Brock Lesnar inspires no one. He said he didn't realize until recently how much he can inspire people, at an autograph signing yesterday everyone who came up to him asked him to please beat Brock Lesar and it hit him in his heart. Seth says now he doesn't feel he has a choice, he has to beat Brock Lesnar because he refuses to let Brock be the champion that defines the future of this industry. So in 13 days he'll step in the ring with a man who is a bully to this industry but he will step in there with an army behind him and will burn Suplex City down. Paul Heyman comes out to interrupt. He says he traveled all the way to Boston to say thank you to Seth for letting him know that the Wrestlemania match is now a handicap match. It'll be the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins and the entire WWE Universe. Paul says he likes the odds because he ensures Seth his chances of winning are 0. He says Rollins sounds pathetic with his love and support crap, what's next will Seth ask for their thoughts and prayers? Paul says Rollins will be undersized and over confident when he brings the WWE Universe along to be beaten to a pulp in Suplex city. Heyman says he'll need their thoughts and prayers because Seth doesn't have a thought in his head or a prayer of a chance against the Beast. He tells Seth he should take it personally when he and the entire WWE Universe loses at Wrestlemania. As Paul leaves Seth approches him up the ramp and Heyman immediately cowards and says he really hopes Seth wins. Seth laughs and says he doesn't want to hurt him, he just wanted to say he is the answer to those prayers when WE walk into Wrestlemania and burn it down. He drops the mic on Heyman who huddles into a fetal position. Samoa Joe tells Angle to forgive him for not bringing flowers or being all sentimental. He says instead he got a different gift for Angle's final match in Boston, putting his ass to sleep one last time. Triple H comes out and starts off my congratulating Becky, Charlotte, and Ronda for main eventing Wrestlemania and says every woman in the back who worked for this because it wasn't given, it was earned. He said that makes him happy, it also makes him happy that the tech guys didn't give him the mic Batista spat all over. Some things don't make him happy, he tries to take out a letter but struggles and says he did the job to the envelope. He says this is a letter from Dave's lawyers. He says it's rambling and talks about how Triple H made Evolution to keep the World Title around his waist longer, Hunter asks if it took him that long to figure it out and says just this last week he discovered the moon isn't made of cheese. He says that Batista got a lot out of Evolution however, he came in as a Deccan, he left as World Champion. He says Dave claimed Hunter never returned his calls for his 2014 come back but Hunter did return the calls, only for his manager to ask for Wrestlemania's date to be moved due to Gaurdian of the Galaxy's shooting. He gets to the letter and reads off all the "I want's" to the tune of "Do you wanna be my Lover." Triple H says Batista wants him to put his career on the line for this match and lays it out, Batista attacked a man who was recently on his death bed, had Triple H agree to the match, only to put another roadblock in the way to try and quit. Triple H says there is no obsession, he doesn't give a crap about Batista, he is just obsessed with kicking his ass. He says that if at this point in his career he can't beat a self delusional douche bag like him then he doesn't deserve to be in this ring. So he's got it, at Wrestlemania, if Triple H loses he will retire. Elias says that New York City recognizes talent as is guitar case is filled with a few dozen dollars. Elias claims there are thousands in there. A random thief steals some of the money but Elias blows it off, saying he'll make way more at Mania. He begins to play as another thief takes the entire case while Elias is unaware. I will not buy smash switch unless it has all these characters
I love Smash Bros as much as the next guy, but if the new game being made for the Nintendo Switch doesn’t include EVERY SINGLE ONE of these characters, then it is 100% going to be trash. Obviously, I’ll still buy a Switch so I can play it and find out. I actually own the Switch already but I’ll buy one that’s just for Smash Bros. [Table] IAmA: We’re dancers in the iconic dance company, the Rockettes - Christina and Lauren! Stars of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and the upcoming New York Spring Spectacular. AUA!
Verified? (This bot cannot verify AMAs just yet) Date: 2015-03-02 Link to submission (Has self-text) Questions Answers I imagine that getting work for dancing is hard in NYC. Do most of your co-workers aspire to be a Rockette or is it more of "I'll audition and if I get in I get in"? CHRISTINA: I think it's a combination of both? I think most women who are Rockettes for a while aspired to be a Rockette. I think some dancers might be intrigued about maybe being a part of it, but maybe dabble in other stuff, because they maybe want to change what they are doing - artistically doing something different. But I think it's a combination of both. For me, personally, it was something I started out to do. I loved dabbling in other stuff, just to changeup the scenery a little bit, but being a Rockette is ultimately what i wanted to do. LAUREN: I know SO many people who have auditioned for years and just don't make it. And they are like "OH! I just want to be a Rockette just once!" But it's so specific. Between the height requirement, and the technical requirements, it's one of the hardest jobs to get as a dancer. I think so many people audition time and time again, and sometimes you learn how to audition and pick up the technique. THere's also Rockettes Summer Intensives that we have, which is a great way for people who want to learn the style to pick them up? It's an intensive program where you learn pieces of choreography from the show, you learn how to use our number lines and depths because we dance on a grid - so it's not just the numbers on the stage, it's also about a 2 foot grid of colors of lines and dashes, so you have to learn how to do math and dance at the same time. CHRISTINA: It's like Battleship, sometimes we say! LAUREN: Because if you're off your number or depth by even a few inches, you could potentially hurt someone else onstage - so that's what the Intensive teaches you. Auditions are closed for 2015, but you can check it out here: Link to www.rockettes.com And if you just want a LITTLE taste, you can do the Rockettes Experience or Rockettes 101 Dance Class during the Spring Spectacular - and that is a dance class where you learn Rockette choreography and a mock audition. How did you each decide you wanted to become a Rockette? What is the audition process like? CHRISTINA: I didn't think I was tall enough to be a Rockette, but I thought I would give it a go, because what female dancer coming to NYC doesn't want to be a Rockette? So I thought MAYBE I'd make the requirement, because we have to be 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 and a half inches... and I just made it at 5 feet 6 inches with a little tease of the hair! So that was my hardest part of getting in the door. But you do a series of combinations that is jazz, you do kick-line, you do precision dance, and tap. And that's just the first day. So there's about 5 rounds of cuts the first day. And it's an all-day audition, cuz there's a line out the door. LAUREN: I remember when I auditioned there were 1,000 girls. And in New York, there were only 3 new girls that year. So it was pretty...it's definitely an honor to be a part of the Rockettes. I remember growing up I would come to New York, cuz my father is from New York, and I would come with my family to see the show and think I'm moving back to New York and becoming a dancer and one of those girls! Because they're so beautiful, and their work ethic is really inspiring. It translates offstage too, because everyone who is a Rockette that I know is the hardest worker. *What is your favorite food / meal out in NYC? *What are your favorite silly pants? (pics please!) LAUREN: I love going to Koreatown and doing Korean Bar-b-que. It's such a treat, and I love Korean food! I think that's my favorite. And we started something during rehearsals called "Fun Pants Friday" - I personally... my favorite ones have a unicorn on one leg, and a robot monster on the other. They're pretty awesome. *What is the most exciting opportunity being a Rockette has brought your way? CHRISTINA: I don't have any favorite silly pants! I don't! I have bright green ones? LAUREN: Besides Radio City Music Hall being our office, and having that as our MainStage, we get to perform at other incredible venues like Madison Square Garden or Yankee Stadium, or on TV shows like PROJECT RUNWAY - I think it's more than anyone could ever dream of. And the Rockettes are doing more now than they ever have. Every week it's a new, awesome opportunity! Who have been the nicest celebs you've entertained and what do you think of New Yorker, Howard Stern? LAUREN: Most recently, we did some spots with Grant Hill, because we just did the NBA All-Star game, and he is SUCH a prince. He's the nicest guy. And so much fun! CHRISTINA: Michael Strahan - he was awesome to work with as well. Michael Buble was super nice. LAUREN: And he's also so funny! He's surprisingly funny. I think his comic bits are just really kooky and fun, and he's just so personable and so happy to have us there with him. And we also danced for Pitbull, for AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, and that was a really cool experience - having the Rockettes merge worlds by dancing with posters. And the Rockettes will perform usually the first live AGT show at Radio City and usually one of the final shows - we're guest performers - so that's when we meet all the judges. And Howard's really sweet, and really tall. His wife is also lovely, we met her this past Christmas season, she did a reading before one of the shows. CHRISTINA: AND I got to meet Miss Piggy. She was hilarious, and sassy. She had her own hair person. You don't understand - I LOVE the Muppets. So for me that was amazing. Also, during the Christmas Spectacular, are you still in character when you go home at night??? Or are you back to being yourselves until the next morning??? CHRISTINA: So the Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, it's well-known for the fall that starts all the way at one end of the stage - just like dominos- and goes all the way back. You can check it out on our YouTube Channel here. So when you're in the front of the fall, it's a lot more core work - everyone has to do their part in terms of controlling the speed of the fall, so if you're at the front, you have to fall slowly - if you're in the middle, you have to be STRONG, and in the back, you have to be ready for the fall to happen faster. CHRISTINA: And it's amazing, you'll be onstage, and have this glamorous job, but then you leave and go on the subway and you're passing everybody on the way home on the subway like a normal New Yorker. Oh yeah, of course I remember the domino effect of the soldiers. Now it makes sense!!! One last question, do you get to visit a local nightclub during the Christmas/Spring Spectacular??? Or are you so tired that you just wanna go home??? CHRISTINA: Most of the time we just go home. LAUREN: After 5 shows - it's time for sleep! What kind of injuries are most common for Rockettes and what are your best exercises to keep your legs in shape? CHRISTINA: I feel like ankle, and knee injuries are the most common. Radio City is a steel stage, so it's very hard on our joints, and we wear up to 3 inch heels. So those are the most common. LAUREN: But we have such great athletic training, and we have on-call trainers and physical therapists that come in and work with us. CHRISTINA: Just like a sports team! And we have pre-season exercises that we do based on the common injuries. LAUREN: Just a lot of preventative work. Also, from the year before, they have a list of what injuries happen, and I feel as if in the last few years, they've looked at the show and seen what has caused that and edited that to help keep bodies stronger and prevent those things. What we're actually doing onstage is extremely physically aggressive and probably from the 4th row back you can't see that we're dripping in sweat! CHRISTINA: Our job is to make it look easy! LAUREN: It looks deceivingly easy, when we're working just as hard as acrobatics. What was the most challenging thing you have faced in your careers so far? LAUREN: Well, I think always adapting and being current dance-wise is really important, because styles change, and what was popular with dance 10 years ago is not as popular now, and you have to be diverse and always improving. CHRISTINA: You never stop studying. You have to constantly be in class, even as a Rockette. You NEVER stop practicing. People go to school, and then go to jobs, and don't go back to school, but we have to constantly stay up to date on our technique. LAUREN: For example, the New York Spring Spectacular has an opening number choreographed by Mia Michaels, who is a world-renowned contemporary choreographer, and it's a very different style for the Rockettes than people have ever seen from the Christmas Spectacular. CHRISTINA: We have to be able to adapt to any choreographer that is coming in to choreograph new numbers. Versatility is key! It never stops. What is your favorite thing about living and performing in NYC? CHRISTINA: Hahahaha! I think the best thing is when you can live AND perform in NYC. The fact that you can get up, and get on the subway and go into Times Square - I love seeing the Radio City Marquee every day, it hits me every day that it's my job, it's my workplace, which is kind've unbelievable since it's been 10 years! LAUREN: I think being part of the New York City arts scene is such an honor, first of all, because in New York, there is such a high level of excellence - whether they are visual artists, or performing artists, I think it's just really inspiring to be in that same category, because New York is the top of its game (not that there's anything wrong with any other cities, but NYC is the epicenter of arts culture). And being a Rockette is one of the most iconic parts of New York City - people come to New York City and say "I can go see the Rockettes!" When was the first time that it sank in that you were actually a Rockette? CHRISTINA: For me, it was the first time I was in my Soldier costume, and as we file out, we're all in the one line, and I'm at the very end, because I'm a less tall lady, and I just saw the line of all the wooden soldier hats, and that's when it sunk into me - I'm a part of the show with elements dating back to 1933. And that's when it sunk in for me. LAUREN: For me it was the first time that I did the kick-line in rehearsal with the full line of women. It's... we learn one of the main numbers in separate sections, so when you finally put the number together, and you go from doing the dancing to doing the kick-line, I think that just going from the number to the kick-line for the first time, with the women you will dance alongside for the rest of the season... and also the first time you step out onstage at Radio City. The fear, terror and excitement all happens all at once! Last updated: 2015-03-06 18:11 UTC This post was generated by a robot!
