nutribullet NB50500 ultra personal blender review (not subtle but pretty effective)
so there's this weird feeling when you stand in the kitchen and realize the blender you own is designed for a person with more time and counter space than you. That's how i was feeling when I ordered this thing. I already had a full size big blender, and tbh it worked fine. powerful enough, blended things well, but it just took up an absurd amount of space on my counter. Every morning I'd pull it out, make one smoothie (yeah, one) then i have to wash the pitcher, the lid, the gasket, dry it all, put it back. It was a whole hassle for what basically amounted to some frozen fruit and protein powder in a cup. I'd been vaguely aware of personal blenders for years. I'd seen the original nutribullet in people's kitchens and in those recipe videos where someone makes a green smoothie and then apparently just walks out the door with it all casual. I assumed they were underpowered. like fine for soft berries and almond milk, but not for frozen mango or ice or anything that actually required force. I figured if I wanted something that blended well, I needed something big. now i see this assumption was wrong, or at least outdated. So I started researching. And by researching I mean I spent two evenings reading reviews, comparing wattage numbers I didn't fully understand, and going back and forth between the nutribullet Pro, the Ultra, and a Ninja model that had good ratings but looked like it belonged in a garage. The Ultra kept coming up. How it's going so far So it basically lives on the counter now. that's the first thing worth saying. My old blender lived in a cabinet because it was too bulky to leave out. This nutribullet ultra is small enough that it just stays there, basically next to the coffee maker. also it doesn't bother me visually, which is a low bar, but one that matters when your kitchen is already cluttered with things. I use it most weekday mornings. Sometimes on weekends if I'm making something for the kids. It quietly replaced the fullsize blender, which has now been moved to the back of a cabinet where it will probably sit until I donate it or someone asks to borrow it. It also replaced a certain kind of decision fatigue. I know that sounds like I'm being dramatic about a blender, (okay maybe I am). But there's a difference between a tool that requires setup and a tool that's just there when you need it. Now i can just grab the cup, throw things in, blend, twist off the blade, put a lid on, and leave. The cup is the container. There's no pouring. There's no extra vessel. That's the whole thing, and it turns out that's exactly what I needed. My fav features 1200-watt motor. This is the number they lead with. My old nutribullet (years ago, the 600-watt one) struggled with frozen fruit., but this one doesn't. Frozen strawberries, frozen mango, ice, and whatever else, it pretty much handles all of it without that awful grinding-stalling-grinding sound that cheaper blenders make. it blends fast, too. Most of my smoothies are done in under 30 seconds on the automated cycle. I've blended frozen bananas with oat milk and a scoop of protein powder and gotten something genuinely smooth, meaning there’s no chunks, or those annoying unblended pockets at the bottom. For a single-serve blender, that's pretty good in my mind. It doesn't replace a Vitamix for hot soups or big batch jobs i guess, but for what I use it for, it's more than enough. glow interface. When you place the cup on the base, a ring of light illuminates with two options. So there's a full circle for the auto cycle and a pulse circle for manual control. small design thing, and I'll admit I thought it was gimmicky when I first read about it. But it's kinda useful. The auto cycle runs for about 30 secs then shuts off on its own, which means I can start it and walk away to pack a lunch or find my keys. The pulse option is there for when I want more control, let’s say if I'm blending something thicker and want to check the consistency halfway through. Neither mode is complicated. You tap the circle it goes that's it. cups and lids. so it came with a 32 ounce cup, 24 ounce cup, and a 24-ounce handled cup, plus two to-go lids. The cups are made from Tritan Renew, which is apparently a material made with 50% certified recycled content. I don't know enough about plastics to evaluate that claim meaningfully, but I can say the cups feel solid. They're not flimsy. They're BPA-free and dishwasher-safe also. lids seal well. I've thrown a cup in my bag and not had a leak (yet, ha). But one thing, the lids can be a little tight to remove sometimes. Not always a huge deal, but I've had a few moments where I'm twisting harder than seems reasonable. rapid extractor blade. It's stainless steel with a titanium coating. The blade is sharp (genuinely) and I noticed that blending times were shorter than with my old setup. There's a rubber gasket around the blade assembly that you need to remove for cleaning, which I didn't realize at first. Once I figured that out, cleaning became pretty straightforward. I handwash the blade and put the cups in the dishwasher sometimes but not always. noise. I'm putting this under features because nutribullet specifically markets the Ultra as their quietest single-serve blender, and I think that deserves scrutiny. Is it quieter than older models? Possibly. I didn't have the exact previous model to compare side by side. Is it totally quiet, well ofc no. It's a blender with a 1200 watt motor so yeah it sounds like one. If someone in your house is sleeping and you start this thing next to them, they're waking up. The sound is maybe lower in pitch than what I remember from the older blender, which could be what they mean by lower frequency sound. It's not unpleasant exactly. It's just not quiet. The footprint. It's compact so if you're short on counter space (like me), this is a nice advantage. Also I didn't buy it for the aesthetics, but the gray color is inoffensive and the shape is clean enough that it doesn't look like clutter. Positives actually gets used. This is the most important thing I can say about it. My old blender was better on paper in some ways, because it had bigger capacity and more settings, but I used it less and less because it was a hassle to get it out and everything. The nutribullet Ultra gets used almost every day because the friction is so low. blending power is excellent. So far it's handled frozen fruit, ice, thick powders, seeds, leafy greens, all without any issue. I've made smoothies, protein shakes, and even a quick vinaigrette in it. The results are consistently smooth. cleanup is minimal. You blend in the cup you drink from. The blade assembly twists off, and the cup goes in the dishwasher. The blade gets a quick hand wash. The whole process takes maybe 60 sec. Compared to disassembling and washing a full-size blender pitcher, lid, and gasket, this is much easier for me. auto shutoff is useful. The automated smoothie cycle blends and then stops on its own, so I don't have to stand there holding anything or watching a timer. I press the circle, walk away, come back to a finished smoothie. On a busy morning, 30 seconds of hands-free time matters more than i thought. Suction cup feet. This is a boring but I'm including it anyway. The base has suction cups on the bottom that keep it from walking across the counter during blending. My old blender vibrated its way across the counter like it was trying to escape. Negatives The noise. I keep coming back to it because the marketing leans into "quietest" and that word is doing a lot of work. It's still kinda loud tbh. Not obnoxiously, but loud enough that early morning blending is a household event whether you want it to be or not. lids can be stubborn. Getting them off sometimes requires more grip strength than feels proportional to the task. It's not every time, but it's often enough that I notice. With the 32 oz cup attached, it's a bit of a tower. If you have low-hanging upper cabinets, you might have to pull it forward to use it. My overall impressions of it This nutribullet ultra blender makes sense for someone who wants one thing blended well, once or twice a day, with minimal cleanup and minimal counter sacrifice. If you're making big batches, feeding a family from one blend cycle, or doing anything that requires more than 32 ounces at a time, this probably isn't the right tool (t's personal-sized for a reason after all). I think it also makes sense if you've already been through the cycle of owning a bigger blender and slowly abandoning it, like i did. If your full-size blender is gathering dust because the activation energy of using it is just slightly too high, the nutribullet ultra solves that . Not because it's a better blender in absolute terms, but it removes enough friction that you actually use it. I don't love it in some crazy way, but I use it almost every day, and I didn't use my old blender almost every day, and that gap is the whole review, really. If you're someone who overthinks purchases (and if you've read this far, you probably are haha :)) I'd say the ultra is a reasonable bet for single-serve blending. It's not flawless because the noise is still a thing, and the lids are occasionally a fight, and I can't speak to long-term durability beyond my own experience so far. But it does the main thing well, and it does it without making me resent the process. submitted by /u/Any_Possession4312 to r/Sosofia [link] [comments]

Nutribullet baby steam + blender - is it worth it?
Hey all! My baby is almost 5 months and I am slowly preparing everything needed to start his journey eating solids. The Nutribullet baby steamer and blender looks super convenient as it takes the hassle out of buying a steamer and a small blender (I only have a smoothie blender which isn’t convenient to use & no steamer). So I’m wondering, is it worth it? Is there a similar product on the market that’s more affordable? Also, what else should I be buying? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/shezangel to r/BabyBumpsandBeyondAu [link] [comments]

Glass or stainless steel version of nutribullet? (or just any non plastic blender, UK based)
Hey all, I’m looking to retire my old Nutribullet, the plastic cup has wear and tear on the sides and im realising all that plastic coming off is going into me! I’d really prefer something made from glass or stainless steel this time around. I make smoothies everyday, so something powerful but not huge would be ideal. UK-based, so any recommendations for something compact, durable, and easy to clean (bonus points if it looks nice on the counter!) would be much appreciated. I did find this, I guess it's not all non plastic but still better than using the big plastic cup? https://www.amazon.co.uk/nutribullet-Portable-Blender-Insulated-590ml/dp/B0DGXQQ63H/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/pheasantjune to r/PlasticFreeLiving [link] [comments]
