Is Oil Filter trending?

Yes. Oil Filter growing with a month-over-month change of 3.99% over the past 5 years, with approximately 33,100 monthly searches.

This is a seasonal trend that peaks every April. The seasonal demand is forecasted to decline over the next year.

Why is Oil Filter trending?

1
Improved Engine Performance
Using an oil filter helps to remove impurities from the engine oil, which can improve the engine's performance by reducing friction and wear on engine components.
2
Extended Engine Life
By removing contaminants from the oil, an oil filter helps to prevent damage to engine parts and prolong the engine's lifespan. It reduces the risk of engine failure and costly repairs.
3
Efficient Lubrication
Clean oil is essential for proper lubrication of engine components. An oil filter ensures that the oil circulating through the engine is free from debris, allowing it to effectively lubricate moving parts and reduce friction.
4
Improved Fuel Efficiency
A clean oil filter can contribute to improved fuel efficiency by reducing engine friction. When the engine runs smoothly with clean oil, it requires less energy to operate, resulting in better fuel economy.
5
Environmental Benefits
Using an oil filter helps to protect the environment by preventing contaminants from entering the engine and potentially being released into the air or water. It promotes cleaner emissions and reduces pollution.

Tech left a note on my oil filter.
While giving the underside of my truck a well needed wash, I found a note that one of the techs left on my oil filter. “There’s a personal price to pay for wilful blindness” Could this actually be hinting towards something, or simply just a fun little note they left behind? Edit: Since so many are commenting on how filthy the truck is: this condition is unavoidable due to my line of work- I wash the truck at every opportunity I get, *especially* before taking it for service. So I don’t think it has anything to do with this. submitted by /u/Beneficial-Map5470 to r/MechanicAdvice [link] [comments]

Valvoline restore and protect. 3,000 mile oil filter
I was doing my valve cover gaskets (at 270,000) and noticed the PCV valve had failed and the intake was covered in oil/ sludge. So I tore it down to the intake gaskets and cleaned her out. At the same time, I did an oil change and went with Restore and Protect. Every review I’ve seen says it’s not snake oil and proven to work. Well, it worked. Maybe too well. I just changed my oil after 3000 miles and (out of curiosity) had a look inside the Toyota oil filter. Every pleat was full of sludge. Maybe I waited too long? I’m just wondering if I did any long-term damage. Or if I’m overreacting. submitted by /u/Vegetable-Branch8153 to r/3rdGen4Runner [link] [comments]

What is the best oil filter actually?
I am tired of reading all these posts with some information that is questionable or seeing people speak in a foreign language of oil talk where everything is abbreviated. Can anyone actually give good advice on this topic. I watched all the YouTube videos and have read several posts on reddit and Bobistheoilguy forum... I watch a video where someone will claim this filter is garbage and then someone else will say this one is garbage. I can visually see when taken apart how some filters look cleaner and better esthetically but when it comes to actual reliability I don't see anything more than a guessing game. I don't care about price because I am sorry but if you can't pay an extra $20 an oil change then you have some serious issues with understanding the concept of risk/reward. I clearly don't care if I have to pay slightly more money every 4-5k miles so please just tell me what the absolute best is for reliability and why. I am not talking about race cars but just your average cars and hybrids which have several start stop cycles. So far I have heard good and bad things about every filter in almost equal quantities making me feel like it's all a coin toss. You have claims and then you have tests and none of what I see actually adds upto the claims. I am looking at 2 main questions: What is the actual micron size and quantity per specific size of particle that is acceptable and or exceptional. What brands have the best? What filters provide exceptional pressure immediately after ignition? This is an important question to me as I would like to know the best filter for hybrids that are constantly turning on and off. I do not want to hear people say I used X filter for a few oil changes and I have no problems... This is about the most useless information possible. Just think if a car can handle 200k++ miles without major failures, what good is a comment like it seems good after a few oil changes. Even if you have had several oil changes it is still in the anecdotal category as certain cars will inherently be more reliable than others, so if you have an opinion, just make sure it has some logical reasoning included so we can understand. If you have actually ran oil analysis o different filters then that is the best information you can post. And if you are a true expert on this subject of oil an oil filtration this would be great to hear your thoughts but please don't use overly niche vernacular like I see Bobistheoilguy forum posters using. It really doesn't have to be that complicated. I watch Bobistheoilguy videos and it just feels like I am watching someone nerd out over oil but never really get to the point of ranking or endorsing certain oils... It's always just here's an oil and it is interesting but never it is good and you should use it if you have this car or drive like this. Anyway, just fight over what the best oil filter is in the comments please. submitted by /u/Cold_Ad_999 to r/MechanicAdvice [link] [comments]

[Gen 4] Oil & Oil Filter Recommendations
This will be my first non-shit car and I want to treat it well. I'm looking for advice on what oil and oil filters to use. I'll be getting the FWD 6-speed manual transmission with the 2.5L I4 Skyactive-G (2024 Mazda 3 Sport GT). I plan on doing my own oil and filter changes every 5000km. For oil, I've settled on the Idemitsu Extended Performance 0W-20 as outlined by the manual. After reading this subreddit, it seems as though Idemitsu is the "OEM" oil. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and/or if there is a better quality oil to use. As for an oil filter, I can't find any information in the manual. Using the Canadian Tire website filters, it seems as though the K&N HP1008 and the FRAM XG6607 are good options. Does anyone have better recommendations? submitted by /u/chocky_chip_pancakes to r/mazda3 [link] [comments]
