I looked at her socials for the first time in a year or so, and my god. She was never "thin", but had gone through periods of weight loss when we were close friends. This shit is next level. At first I was happy for her, and then upon digging a bit deeper she started boasting about her ozempic journey. Looking even deeper, her mom, sisters, etc all started the shot. Weight loss is hard, more power to them - or so I thought. Seeing the boney faces of the family I once knew, shocked me. The more I scrolled, the worse it got. She looked confident as hell, but seeing her ribcage and entire clavicle jutting out? In the most recent pictures, her stomach dips in at the ribs. She reminds me of how I looked when I was anorexic as a kid. Alarm bells going off in all directions. I can't get the image out of my head, and I can't say anything to her because we're not on close-friend basis anymore. ever since ozempic became popular, I’ve started noticing more and more posts like this. this one isn’t even from a sub I’m in, it just showed up on my recommended. I’m gonna assume this woman never mentioned ozempic herself (unless she actually said so in the original post), it’s just being used as an excuse to body shame thinner women and “mourn” the loss of her curves. the entire thread was people piling on about how she “looked so much better before,” “she looks sickly,” “no hips, no butt, no chest,” etc. as someone who has the body type on the right (thinner, not a lot of curves), these posts grate on me so much. seeing your body type held up as a “tragedy” in a before/after is hurtful. and it’s both men and women doing it, too. do people not understand that body shaming goes both ways? you can uplift bigger bodies without dragging smaller ones and vice versa. I get that a lot of this is a reaction to decades of thinness being the default ideal and I understand why people are angry at diet culture, but with posts like these imo it like the pendulum swung to calling every thinner woman an ozempic skeleton with the whole ozempjc discourse, I’ve noticed an even bigger push into skinny = sickly territory. so many comments are like “this isn’t what a healthy body looks like”- as if you can diagnose someone’s health from two photos, lol. it’s literally the same behavior people criticize when it’s aimed at bigger bodies, aka assuming health status from size alone, projecting your own preferences, and dressing it up as concern. somehow once the target is a thin woman, it suddenly becomes acceptable, even though weaponizing ~health~ to shame someone’s body is the same nonsense no matter what direction it’s pointed in. i’m of opinion people should stop commenting on women’s bodies period and quit dressing it up in new ways but here we are. “ozempic skinny” is clearly just the new “eat a burger” / “you look anorexic” etc. this isn’t even about ozempic at this point; it’s just another socially acceptable excuse to pick apart women’s bodies. same old body shaming, just with a new branding 🙄 submitted by /u/hyrulecastIe to r/XXS [link] [comments]

I take it because of weight loss. And it absolutly works amazing. But furthermore those short time pleausures or cravings declined like 70-80%. Its crazy i can Focus way better on long time goals without a lot of distractions. It Just clears my mind. I started Ozempic back in November 2023 and stopped taking it at the end of September 2024. I have been off Ozempic, maintaining my weight since I stopped. It has certainly been a journey, and my weight will likely be a battle my whole life. I wanted to share my maintenance journey with you all. Common Questions How much weight did you lose? I started at 293 lbs in September 2023, and today I weigh 181 lbs. (down 112 lbs) How have you been maintaining the weight loss? I am more active than ever, and I work out/exercise every day. I play a lot of team sports and am part of a running club. I have been keeping a strict diet, with a weekly cheat day. I eat a lot cleaner and less greasy fast foods / take out. Did the food noise come back? OOOH Yeah! The hunger definitely comes back, but you just need to be consistent and strict with your diet. I do believe the diet is a huge part of maintaining the weight loss. I do a weekly meal prep for my work lunches, and I eat snacks and meals that are overall healthier. I have cut out all unnecessary sugars in my beverages. Would you recommend Ozempic? Yes, I would recommend it to others. Ozempic really helped me to shed the weight. It was great to see the quick results. It can be discouraging when you feel like you’re doing everything right but you don’t see the scale reflecting that. If you need a kick start, and Ozempic works for you, I recommend it. Plans for the future? I carry a lot of hanging skin since the weight loss, so I plan to continue working out and doing strength training to fill the loose skin with muscles. My partner jumped on the Ozempic trend about 2 years ago. She was not prescribed by her doctor and is not diabetic nor was she obese. She was going to the gym to lose weight, and because (I'm paraphrasing the best I can from memory) she did not want her attractiveness to be defined by her legs or butt. She decided to go on the drug after her weight loss began plateauing. She was upfront to me about going on the drug, for the reasons, and I was supportive. Now, 2 years later with the drug in full effect, she is not satisfied. She is upset that her butt is now flat. She's frustrated that her skin is wrinkly. Her doctor has told her that she has lost muscle mass. She looks gaunt, and it has effected our sex life. She never goes to the gym. But she has a "healthy BMI" now, which makes it all worth it to her. She is also deep(ER) in debt as she has been going out of pocket for the drug and has gone from being able to put a bit of money in savings each month to playing whack-a-mole with bills. She makes six figures. It all seems like a net-negative after 2 years, but she's intent on staying on the drug and has begun a maintenance dose. We don't live together nor share finances, and she's not a bad person, but I am so uncomfortable and I want to leave. Okay, we all know about the expected Ozempic stuff—smaller portions, appetite suppression, the occasional bathroom surprises… BUT WHY DID NO ONE WARN ME ABOUT: The weird food aversions?
