I'm sorry to read that your mum's in hospital @cappie. My mum had delirium twice when she had UTIs and severe dehydration, although she wasn't put on any medication in hospital. I can't offer any valuable ideas about haloperidol but hopefully other members will come along later to share their thoughts and experiences. I hope your mum starts to get better soon.

Dapaglifozin helps with cardiovascular health too. Effectively you pee sugar so look out for utis etc. Ive been on just over a year and not had a problem. There is a suggestion you need to be eating 100+ carbs ie not very low carb. If you feel very unwell you should check for ketones. I have ketostix ( not had a problem) I find peeing more especially at night a nuisance.

I was putting off getting treatment thinking I could wait until my appointment even though my antibiotics weren’t doing anything to the infection. Well I just spent the night in the ER with a systemic infection, showing up so delirious that I could barely even remember my date of birth or what year it was, couldn’t stand, had a heart rate spiking at around 140 BPM, low blood pressure, high cortisol, nausea, low fever, and I was convinced I was going to pass out on the drive there. I’m now on 5 different antibiotics. Everyone who told me to go the ER was correct and I could’ve died from what was previously just a UTI. 😓 Sounds rich coming from me after I put off treatment before, but trust your gut if you think something’s wrong. I finally found a place to share my story! Sharing incase this helps someone out there! I'm F. Long story kind of short. Years ago after a few sexual partners and being with my ex for a couple of years...I started getting UTIs out of no where. Also once a month, it was sex that was causing them. I thought it was maybe him but when I got with my current partner and it was still the same issue. It was caused from having sex. So much pain, so many doctors visits, missing work and so many tests like STD tests, blood tests and ultrasounds. I was trying everything washing before and after sex all the time and always ALWAYS peeing after...nothing...it got to a point that I had to take an antibiotic after sex. I felt completely helpless. Even thought I'm on the pill I always used a condom for extra protection. After 2 years with my current partner and too many doctors visits...we decided to stop using condoms...and...I HAVEN'T HAD A UTI IN OVER 2 YEARS!!! You have no idea how much this has changed my life...it's unbelievable! If you are struggling please don't give up. I know it's so so awful. If this is something you haven't tried, give it a ago! I've been feeling kicks and/or movement from the baby for almost two months now. I also had frequent urination issues. I have PCOS and am on the pill, and pregnancy was something so far off my mind for options on what my symptoms could be caused by. I just turned 21 in October and went to the OBGYN for a routine appointment, where I was told I had a UTI. She also later said I have BV. I took the prescribed antibiotics, but symptoms were not resolved (because it was NOT A UTI!). So I went to Urgent Care 3 times afterwards and kept getting positive cultures for a UTI and getting prescribed antibiotics. Finally, I got a referral to a urologist, where she had me get sent for a sonogram, thinking I could have a cyst. As the tech begins, she asks what I am here to scan, and I say a potential cyst. She then asks if I know that I am pregnant. I start crying hysterically and asking her how far along I am which she replies I am approximately 32-33 weeks along. I am still in shock and disbelief, but I have already scheduled to have another appointment with an OBGYN. Are there any other next steps I should consider? My wife keeps getting UTIs after sex and I’m struggling with what this means for our marriage My wife (30F) and I (30M) have been together for 11 years and married for four. Overall, we have a very happy relationship and communicate well. From early on, we noticed that I have a higher sex drive than she does, but I’ve always tried to be respectful, follow her lead, and communicate openly about intimacy. Early in our relationship, she would occasionally get UTIs after intercourse. It was rare at first, and she explained that she’s prone to them due to having a shorter urethra. Once we realized sex might be a trigger, we both took preventative steps. I’m very careful about hygiene (I’m uncircumcised and take that seriously), and she urinates after sex and takes supplements meant to help prevent infections. Despite this, when she does get a UTI, I feel a lot of guilt. Seeing her in pain is hard, and one episode was severe enough that she had blood in her urine and needed to go to the ER. She reassures me that she sometimes gets UTIs randomly, but the timing is hard to ignore—symptoms usually show up a day or two after we have sex. Over the last three years, the problem has escalated. At this point, almost every time we have intercourse, she develops a UTI. We’ve seen a urologist, and she was prescribed a low-dose antibiotic to take after sex. We also both did cultures, but the guidance we received was essentially to continue antibiotics, supplements, and use condoms if needed—which we’ve done. Recently, though, the antibiotics seem less effective, and we’re back at urgent care because she’s in pain again. This feels unsustainable. For context: This is Toad, he’s a one year old boy and pretty much my entire world. The past few weeks since he got fixed he’s been acting funny, peeing on everything for seemingly no reason. The story begins here, a few days ago he peed on a gray plastic bag (that was next to his litter box as preparation for its next cleaning). I didn’t know what to do other than pick it up and throw it out, as I was doing that, a few drops landed on his pillow, they were a dark pink color. My brain immediately went to “UTI! That’s why he’s been peeing on everything!” I’ll admit I panicked. I started searching for vets in my area, they were all closed. I expanded my search to a 20 mile radius, made some calls, ultimately ended with me getting an appointment 3 days out at a Petco 30 minutes away. I explain what’s going on to the vet, they take him back for an ultrasound and to extract a urine sample. A bit later they bring him back and I’m told that everything looks fine internally, his urine visibly looked fine as well, but the culprit was a flea that had made its way inside of him and had been feeding on his penis. That’s where the blood had been coming from. They removed it of course, but my god, that was an expensive flea. Moral of the story is,, sometimes it’s not a UTI. Sometimes it’s a flea biting your cats dick paired with behavioral issues. Never in a million years could I have predicted this outcome. I’ve been with my boyfriend for a little over a year now. It’s been INCREDIBLE. It’s my first time being in a genuinely healthy relationship and I love him lots. Wanted to start with that. However- ever since we started having sex regularly, I have gotten UTIs every other month. We have tried EVERYTHING. Used a condom instead to try and prevent and condoms give me BV?? Noticed that trend. And then we realized maybe it was because we’d go twice a day and not always wash after. So we started to be certain we washed before AND after. 99% of the time I pee after. God forbid one time I’m unable to and immediate uti within two days. We shower together most nights and I KNOW he’s cleaning himself well. He’s very particular about that. He swapped from bar soap to a ph balance soap just in case. I wash my toys before and after. Neither of us are “stepping out” on each other. I also notice that it’s almost always more likely that I end up with a uti if he finished inside me. I’m getting FED UP. We are trying everything we can think of. I’ve talked to my dr. Talked to friends. We’re trying. I cannot be on antibiotics as often as I am. It SUCKS. I found an OTC medicine that’s supposed to be something you take at the first sign but it still usually ends up needing antibiotics. I can always feel the beginnings of one within 2-3 days after sex where he’s finished inside or I forget to pee. That’s a guaranteed UTI basically every time. Otherwise it’s a coin toss. I don’t know what else to try or do. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. I love this man. This is who I may want to be with forever. So something has to improve with this because I cannot spend my life with a UTI once a month. EDIT: I never “don’t pee” just because! Its routine! I always pee. As someone who suffers from chronic UTI’s - I feel super overwhelmed and in shock that today someone I know passed away from UTI complications. He essentially said “i get them all the time” and didn’t go to the doctor. By the next day he could no longer walk - and had to call an ambulance. In the ambulance, he suffered a heart attack and had 6 strokes. After an MRI they discovered internal bleeding and kidney failure. He was taken off of life support today. I’m 27 and he’s only a few years older than me and I just can’t believe that something i’ve suffered from since 5th grade can actually be fatal and i’m witnessing it first hand. PLEASE get your symptoms checked out if you think you have a UTI or have lower back pain! especially as women i know a lot of our symptoms get pushed to the side but please advocate for yourself if you think something is wrong! I get UTI's very often, so over time I have found a perfect solution to helping ease the pain at home. It is important to note that, if showing symptoms, you should definitely get checked out by a doctor. This is not a cure for UTI's, just a way to relieve pain. I promise, the meds they give you work like a charm and give you immediate relief. Do it if you can! First off, I recommend buying D-Mannose, which is a cranberry tablet. They're on Amazon, and they're super worth it. It is best to work them into your daily vitamin intake. If you don't wanna do that, you can take 2 every 6 hours when you start feeling your UTI coming. It will really help. Next, this is an absolute lifesaver. PLEASE TRY THIS. Take 1 extra strength Advil and 1 extra strength Tylenol. I SWEAR by this for any pain (cramps, headaches, etc.) Especially if you're having troubles sleeping due to UTI pain. LIFESAVER. trust me. This one is obvious, but important. Drink a fk ton of water. Like, chug it. You need to flush it all out. If you have trouble chugging water, add an electrolyte water flavourer to it. Just make sure the flavourer isnt too acidic. Speaking of which, avoid acidic drinks like they're the plague. Ive found that, when I drink anything acidic (like orange juice) with a UTI, my pain is 100% worse. Trust me on this. Stick to non acidics like tea, all milks (coconut, oat, dairy), some juices. Lastly, try to rest. Call out of work. Stay home from school. I promise, nothing sucks more than having to sit or stand constantly without the ability to go to the bathroom whenever you need. Having to hold in your pee is only going to make it worse. I will try to make this as short as possible but unfortunately my story, like many others I see here, is long. i have been dealing with this for almost 5 years. 24 y/o female. fall/winter 2015: developed what I thought was a uti after sex and was treated for a uti without being tested for it, based on my described symptoms. went back to the doctor saying that i still had a slight discomfort urinating, but the uti test was negative to i was sent on my way. was informed by a guy i had slept with he had chlamydia. went to ob/gyn and told her i was told this. she prescribed me the typical one dose of azithromycin. i did not feel relief from the discomfort while peeing. i went back to the ob/gyn convinced i was not cured of the chlamydia. lab results indicated i was negative for chlamydia. doctor told me i was having anxiety "from the thought of having an std" 2016-2019: symptoms progressively got worse. experienced constant discomfort urinating that sometimes was outright pain, discharge that ranged from clear to bright yellow/green and always mucus-y and always a LOT of it, pelvic pain, lower back pain, itchiness that would be so severe it would wake me up in the middle of the night, throbbing pains inside the vagina randomly, an extremely sensitive clitoris, and a constant feeling of burning sensation inside and outside of the vagina. eventually i even felt symptoms in my anal region. I also would randomly get fevers and chills. I went to 7 different ob/gyns, a dermatologist, an allergist, a urologist, and a urogynocologist. all my tests for everything always came back negatives. despite having high white blood cell counts, doctors basically all told me i was making it up or just had really bad anxiety and was overthinking things. i insisted that my pain was severe and very real. doctors tried to treat me for bv, yeast infections, and even prescribed 2 weeks of doxycycline just for good measures. i felt minimal if no relief. the only thing that seemed to help was coating the area in olive oil. towards the later years i also felt tired all the time, as well as flat out depressed and anxious. I could not understand how no one could figure out what was wrong with me. i graduated college and felt i could not hold a job because of how much pain i was in. i could barely stand to have sex, and if i did would bleed after usually. my periods became irregular. I became obsessed with researching possibilities online. 2020: Finally, I discovered the mycoplasma forum on reddit. I demanded my original ob/gyn do a PCR test for mycoplasma. he had never heard of it. i insisted. I went a couple days later to an infectious disease specialist to have her perform the same test, plus antibiotic resistance tests (i was scared of getting a false negative and figured two tests wouldnt hurt). I have been confirmed positive just this week (Jan 2020) for BOTH mycoplasma genitalium and ureaplasma, as well pneumonia of the urinary tract. I am waiting to hear back about the antibiotic resistance as it takes longer. being as i had previously been on 2 weeks of doxy without relief, I asked for 14 days of moxifloxacin. initially i had felt a little better and became hopeful, but today (day 9) i have felt my symptoms return strongly. i am so upset that no one suggested these tests and that i had to demand them. i'm so angry at the multitude of doctors that suggested i was "crazy" all these years. i was hoping someone would have some advice for me. i am terrified reading online about how these infections are very hard to cure. i cannot live with this pain my whole life- it is unbearable. i wouldnt wish this physical, mental, and emotional stress on my worst enemy. i completely have forgotten what it feels like to pee without pain. Crazy how doctors always tell you not to worry yourself and read stuff online- when that is the ONLY thing that that helped me get answers. i knew i wasn't losing my mind! to anyone who is out there suffering and not getting answers- ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF. You know your body best and you know when something is not right! 1) what do i do if i finish 14 days of moxi and still feel symptoms? i didnt respond to 2 weeks of doxy, should i try 3 weeks? 2) due to my lower back pain and pelvic pain, i am terrified i have permanent scarring on my kidneys and/or ovaries. what tests can i ask for to determine if this is the case? is infertility from this permanent? 3) i have never even heard of pneumonia in the urinary tract. do you think this is unrelated, and that the ureaplasma just has left me susceptible to other infections? 4) I have had this for quite a long time- how can i be sure it is gone? obviously i am not going to have sex until i produce a negative result to prevent reinfecting. 5) has anyone experienced reactive arthritis from this? i believe i am. submitted by /u/sadddgirl7 to r/Healthyhooha [link] [comments]

Hi all! I see tons of conflicting and sometimes downright dangerous info (namely water fasting and rejecting antibiotics compeletely like this girl advertizes) on the internet about curing and preventing UTIs. I know they can be a real pain and we are a lot to deal with this so I thought I'd share with you all my tips : ​ Prevention Avoid very rough sex and make sure you are properly lubricated when you do have sex Always pee after sex Don't hold your pee for long periods of time Wipe from front to back Wear cotton underwear (it should be your everyday fabric of choice! I sometimes wear lace for special occasions but only for a couple of hours) Avoid tight underwear and very tight pants and leggings Keep everything that would come in contact with your cooch clean (sex toys, underwear, your partners bits and fingers...) Sleep without underwear (there's no proof behind this but I find that I feel less irritated down there if I let it breathe at night) You can take supplements (cranberry etc) when you feel a bit weak Eat a diet rich in antioxydants (garlic, green tea, fruits & veg) Early signs If you can feel that familiar discomfort, do not wait and drink an obscene amount of water and try to pee the infection away double up on your dose of cranberry supplement (or d-mannose) avoid sugar, caffeine, and alcohol Green tea apparently helps Wear loose clothing Bathing helps soothe the pain and does not aggravate the infection Stay warm and get plenty of rest Give it 1-2 days to go away on its own using plant-based medication and following all the tips above. If the infection does not seem to get better but actually is getting worse, VISIT YOUR DOCTOR. UTIs can become life threatening if kept untreated.
