Went to the local FS8 and I don’t think I can go back to Club Pilates
I am using Classpass to try different studios and after trying the local FS8, I don’t think I will return CP. I have been feeling bored with the CP for some time. I am not allowed to move to 1.5 and 1s became really easy. I also got bored with all the housekeeping we need to do at CP and inconsistent teachers. In most CP classes (I am around 50 classes at CP), we change springs every move, then deal with the box, then use springboard, sometimes Bosu, sometimes other props which makes the exercise very stop and go and inefficient. Furthermore, Flow 1s mostly feel like physical therapy at my CP - there is absolutely no challenge, it is, at most, a medium level stretching session. I also did 4 years of pilates before I started CP (3 years mat, 1 year reformer) and it is crazy that my studio discouraged me from moving level 1 to 1.5. Today, I went to FS8 for the first time. Their reformers are much better and newer than CP. Their exercise routine does not change according to every person but it is set before the class starts and there are screens everywhere in the class where you can actually see how a move is conducted. You can see how many reps and minutes a move will be held and what move will be cued after each move. You can immediately do standing moves on the reformer and amplify the springs according to your strength. Also, (another big thing for me), they have loud and stylish music!!! The music at my CP sucks and when it is good, it is too low… The instructors at FS8 speak with an earpiece which makes it much easier to hear. They also provided me so many hands on corrections which is something I rarely got at CP. After my first class, I was out of breath and dripping sweat. It felt like an actual, reformer workout. submitted by /u/homenia to r/ClubPilates [link] [comments]

F/22/5’3 150lbs to 108lbs in 36 months. Progress Tuesday!!
F/22/5'3" [150lbs > 108lbs = 49lbs] (36 months) Keep showing up to yourself no matter what! I’ve always worked with a nutritionist, but never had a personal trainer. I trained on my own at the gym, mostly doing boxing and reformer Pilates. At the beginning, I stayed in a calorie deficit for about five months to lower the number on the scale. I focused on eating four meals a day and prioritizing protein at every meal to preserve muscle. For every 13 lbs I lost, only about 1 lb was muscle, which I’m really proud of. I work 10–12 hours a day, so my routine is pretty structured: I train for an hour early in the morning, work all day, and at night I do 40–50 minutes of light walking on my walking pad. I also make sure to take one full rest day per week to avoid burnout. I truly believe nutrition made the biggest difference. The real secret for me was consistency. I also reduced my alcohol intake significantly (now about twice a month), but I didn’t completely cut it out — just became more mindful. submitted by /u/Ok-Gap-6538 to r/GYM [link] [comments]

This product came in a plywood box. The delivery guy used a pallet jack to move it from the truck to my garage. Unboxing was a breeze, and the packaging was so good that there was no damage at all. Putting it together was easy too—even though some parts weren’t listed in the assembly guide. I know my way around pilates gear, so I sorted it out quickly. submitted by /u/Professional_Cod7768 to r/ClubPilates [link] [comments]

Etiquette? - what would you do?
I want to know what would people do in my situation. Story time: Yesterday Lidl came out with this reformer Pilates machine, something I’ve been having my eye on for a while. I woke up super early and made it to my local Lidl about 7:40am and they open at 8. At this time there was no one else there, so my boyfriend and I stayed in the car because it’s so cold outside. As it’s getting closer to 8, cars are pulling up but everyone is staying in their cars. Then these two women run for the front door and I hop out and then made it second in line. We get chatting and find that they’re together and they want a total of 4 machines. And we all said that’s not fair that they should take that many if there’s a limited number. They said “oh no we would give you one if there’s only 4”. The doors open and the two women ahead of me bolt inside. They’re running isle to isle and I’m trailing along behind them. I didn’t run but then I stumbled upon them before anyone else. My hand is on the box and I’m ready to take it. Then everyone else (the two women at the front of the line and a few people behind me) all come to this section. We notice there’s only one machine so we started asking around and the staff confirms they only got one in. So I start putting it into my trolley. My boyfriend starts saying that we should give it to the two ladies at the front because they were at the door first but I argue that I got to the box first. The two women come at me too so I felt a bit cornered and thought oh well I still think it’s fair for me to keep it but we give it to them anyways. It’s only the 2nd of January and I thought it’ll be a nice thing to do for the new year. We help them get this massive box into their trolley. We rush off to go to another Lidl (non left), and then to another and the two women beat us again and they’re trying to load two more machines into their trolley. I’m asking nicely “oh would it be possible for them to give me one as they now have 3” and they were just straight up rude to me. Saying that I don’t deserve one and they were there first and it was tough shit. They also said “we had a discussion in the car and if the roles were reversed in the first Lidl, they would’ve given it to me” which I don’t think is true as they now currently have 3 and weren’t willing to give me one. But what really annoyed me more was how they spoke to me. Two women’s in their mid 30s at least trying to argue with a 20 year old? Thinking back I really wish I stood my ground in the first Lidl but I felt cornered and felt like the bad person, but after they spoke to me later when we bumped into each other really upset me. Is there no nice people in this world anymore? Sorry for the rant, if you were me in this situation, would you have given the first box to these two women at the start? Ps, I did end up going to one more Lidl (4th Lidl) and ended up getting the last one and I believe it was good karma rewarding me. But I can’t help but be upset over the situation. 🥺 Edit: I know people saying my boyfriend should’ve been on my side but I also see it from his point of view of being a nicer person and them being first. We did chat about it later and discussed if we were ever in a situation similar to this or anything else to be on my side in public and if he disagreed with anything to discuss with me at home. We all live and learn ❤️ Also thank you everyone in the comments. I guess it is a massive life lesson and some people are only out there for yourselves. I’m grateful for all the comments and the support 🥰🥰. I hope everyone is having a better start to 2026 than me but I wish everyone has an amazing 2026 🥳 2nd edit: I forgot to mention my bf redeemed himself after hearing how the two women spoke to me in Lidl. Sorry to whoever witnessed that and me crying. He bit back at them and stood up for me even though I walked away. So brownie points for him ❤️ submitted by /u/YouthLiving6301 to r/AskIreland [link] [comments]

m I the only one who fell off the Reformer Pilates box? Now I’m scared to do it again 😟
I had a pretty embarrassing and scary moment during a Reformer Pilates class — I fell off the box while doing one of the exercises. (no injuries at all) It happened so fast, and now every time I go back, I feel super anxious, almost like PTSD. I keep replaying it in my head and I’m tense the whole time, which makes it harder to focus and feel safe when I'm in the class. Has anyone else experienced something like this? How did you overcome the fear and get your confidence back? I really want to keep going because I love Pilates, but this incident shook me up more than I expected. Any tips or encouragement would be appreciated 💛 submitted by /u/Firm-Barracuda9215 to r/pilates [link] [comments]

Pilates Reformer at Home
So I need real people to be realistic here. Pilates reformer classes are VERY expensive. I enjoyed them very much and would to continue to incorporate pilates in my workout. I need people to provide insight on what pilates reformer you would recommend, preferably in the $600-$1200 range. Yes I can "invest" in a 2000-3000 reformer but I need all around options while living in this economy. If you cannot recommend a specific pilates reformer, please provide some insight on what to look for. I'm sure in 2025 there has to be a few decent companies creating semi-affordable reformers so please don't rule them out. Also, try not be super mean. Thank you so much! BetterMe: Pilates Reformer Core Exercises
If you’re looking to build a strong, stable core without punishing your joints, reformer Pilates is seriously underrated. With its sliding carriage, adjustable springs, and controlled movement patterns, the Pilates reformer helps activate deep core muscles—like the transverse abdominis and obliques—that are often missed in traditional ab workouts. Here are 8 powerful reformer exercises that will challenge your midsection and support better posture, balance, and core endurance: 🔥 Top Reformer Core Exercises The Hundred – Builds core endurance by activating all major abdominal muscles. Plank to Pike – Targets lower abs, while engaging shoulders and spine stabilizers. Kneeling Abdominals – Trains balance, coordination, and obliques in a kneeling position. Short Box Round Back – Focuses on spinal articulation and deep core strength. Teaser – A full-body move that demands coordination and core control. Side Plank with Leg Lift – Strengthens obliques and improves lateral stability. Mountain Climbers on the Reformer – High-intensity lower ab work without impact. Mermaid Twist – Improves spinal flexibility while engaging the obliques. ✅ Why Reformer Pilates Works So Well for Your Core ✔ It Targets Deep Core Muscles: The resistance from springs recruits stabilizing muscles (like your inner abs and pelvic floor) that crunches can’t hit. ✔ Combines Strength + Mobility: Exercises like “legs in straps” challenge stability while keeping your hips mobile—a killer combo for function and injury prevention. ✔ Builds Functional Strength: You’re not just working muscles; you’re training them to move better in real life—twisting, lifting, and reaching with less risk. ✔ Low Impact, High Control: It’s joint-friendly, making it ideal for those recovering from injuries or looking for a safer core workout. ✔ Science Backs It Up: Studies show improved posture, back pain relief, and better muscle activation with regular reformer use. ❔❔ What core exercises helped you recover from back pain or poor posture? https://preview.redd.it/oe7pgj5b8dwe1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=728b5260f1043bb6eee57c30d9834060775dd87d submitted by /u/bettermetips to u/bettermetips [link] [comments]

Reformer pilates + Gym in Gent
Hallo! Just started reformer as an obese person
Hi all, I am back on the gym after a health issue made me gain a lot of weight. I decided to try reformer pilates and the teacher made comments about my size. I picked a machine closest to the wall and the instructor asked us to do a certain exercise with the box at the side. I was right against the wall but that is down to the positioning of the machine. She made me switch with someone with “smaller hips” and mentioned that she would ask a “petite” person to use that machine in future. The simple solution is to move the machine so there’s more room around it for everyone. Later on she was talking to slim participants about how reformer is “not for everyone” and “bigger people don’t tend to attend” looking at me. Am I being unreasonable to find that a bit upsetting? Edit: Thanks for all the support everyone. Spoke to management and they have put both instructors on probation and they have been spoken to. If there are any more complaints they will be fired. I’m not going to any more of their classes so will see what happens. Second edit: I found a better and more inclusive instructor who made me feel supported so will not let the others get me down. Thanks everyone. submitted by /u/Ok-Fisherman3394 to r/pilates [link] [comments]

Your Reformer vs Freedom Pilates
Which reformer to go for? Any version in particular you recommend? It’s for my home. Would need a box too and would love some apps or online vids to follow. I’m in rural NZ and these two brands seem to be the only ones offered (please correct me if I’m wrong!) Any specs I should also look for? I’m 5’3” and would be sharing with my partner who is closer to 6’. Thanks in advance for any tips! submitted by /u/Excellent_Yellow_951 to r/pilatesreformer [link] [comments]

Ideas for At-Home Short Box + Saftey Strap Abs Setup Without a Reformer?
I regularly practice Pilates at a reformer gym, but unfortunately, I don't have space for a full reformer at home. I'm looking to replicate the ab series using the short box on the reform with the safety strap (like in the video linked). I've tried recreating the setup on bleachers before by tucking my foot under the railing, but I'm hoping to find a way to securely tuck my feet at home to do a quick ab series, whether it's before bed or during a break from work on days I can’t hit the gym. Does anyone have ideas for setting this up safely without having to buy a lot of equipment? I’m especially stumped on the safety strap part of the setup, as I’m sure I could figure out the box dupe with a chair or stool or something similar. Thanks for any suggestions! submitted by /u/sowamazing to r/pilates [link] [comments]

I tried reformer pilates with my free trial of Class Pass and now I’m OBSESSED (but can’t actually afford it haha)
I’m over the moon about this, I feel absolutely incredible in mind, body, and spirit after doing reformer pilates. It’s so FUN too, I feel like I’m playing on a literal playground what with the bar, straps, springs, ball, box, “magic circle” haha and aaalll the different combinations of how to use them. That free trial was two weeks of heaven and I can barely stop thinking about it haha and think I would do reformer pilates 5 days a week if I could. BUT it’s so expensive!! I ended up signing up for class pass but the amount of credits each reformer class costs is usually twice as much as like a yoga class (I also love yoga but am currently hyperfixating on this new love of mine). It’s specifically the reformer I can’t get enough of, the feedback of that resistance is just incredible to me, and I am not a fan of mat pilates at all and even less a fan of home workouts. It turns out that my broke ass just loves the energy and environment of a studio class and the ONLY way I’ve been able to finally have a consistent movement practice is when I started going to a yoga studio last year, after failing over and over again at doing home youtube workouts for a week and then quitting every time. I have ADHD so I struggle a lot with time management and motivation and the studio classes are the best way for me to be consistent in showing up for myself. But I can’t actually afford to get a pilates membership anywhere, which I know is the most horrendous first world problem to have. As of now I’m still just trying to make class pass work, but I won’t be able to go to as many classes as I’d want. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for how they afford regular reformer classes on a budget? I NEED them in my life! submitted by /u/fbc518 to r/pilates [link] [comments]

Favorite Pilates Anytime Reformer Classes (with or without box and/or jump board)?
Hi all! I recently got a home reformer and I love having the access whenever I want, but the studio app trial that came with it was lacking so I signed up for the 2 week free trial of Pilates Anytime and so far it looks good but it is a lot of content. My ask with this post is for you all to share your favorite reformer classes (with the class # if possible) because their library is pretty overwhelming! About me: I’m familiar with the equipment and movements from 1:1, small 1:3-4 group, and larger group sessions over the last 5 years or so but I’d consider myself a beginner that has done some intermediate and advanced movements. My work schedule is weird so it’s hard to get to in person classes these days and I had fallen off the wagon since late October until very recently so my strength and flexibility need a reboot. I like both traditional and creative classes (my most recent studio was more creative/nontraditional but my initial 1:1 instructor was very traditional). I look forward to hearing about your favorite classes and instructors, thanks in advance! submitted by /u/blklab16 to r/pilates [link] [comments]

Recommendations on a Pilates Reformer for home use?
With the pandemic I stopped going to my Pilates studio in March and I don’t see myself being able to return within a year at least. I’m looking to buy a reformer for my home gym in my basement. I’ve only ever used Balanced Body in the studios I’ve gone to and I think the IQ model might be a good fit. Does anyone have a reformer at home? What make/model is it and are you happy with it? I’m willing to spend $$ since I plan to use this indefinitely (and often; I was going to the studio 5x/week). Thanks in advance for all your recommendations! submitted by /u/JLMezz to r/pilates [link] [comments]
