I have been collecting pokemon cards for many years and never have a seen a card community so vile. (No offense but to scalpers screw you) My local walmart finally got the new packs last week and they were locked behind the counter in the electronics section someone decided to break into my Walmart and steal only the pokemon cards. I was told by the workers they are thinking of not even keeping pokemon cards on the floor anymore... Close friend’s inheritance gave me a Pokemon card. Secret message within? (Numbers on card redacted just in case)
Hi all, i don’t play Pokemon or collect its cards, but I was bequeathed this as part of a close golfing friend’s inheritance. I’m not sure why…maybe he gave one card to each of his friends. I’m planning to store it safely as my last memory of this friend - i know he collected Pokemon cards, but i didn’t know he placed such significance on it. I have 2 questions for this group please, if anyone could kindly show me the way: how do i best keep this? I haven’t opened the orange and transparent inner casing, nor have i accessed the card yet, but am shopping for a sturdy protector for this so I can keep as memory of my friend. is there any chance there is some secret handwritten note stored within the pokemon card? I half suspect my friend wished to leave me a message in the card, but i wish to access the message without destroying it unnecessarily. So my qtn is, is it a thing for pokemon collectors to store/hide secret messages within the card itself? Thank you all! **EDIT**: Thank you everyone who responded with warmth in your heart for me and my friend. As i mention in reply to some comments, i was already deeply griefed and touched to receive a memorabilia from my friend. Where is the world can you buy pokemon cards today
I always see people online telling me to not buy at the scalpers price like I have any other option. Obviously I dont want to, but every single goddamn store I go to, there is nothing. Gamestop, there is, but of course, they raised their prices, so what makes them better than the scalpers? The LCS's near me also have inflated prices, I assume just to make a bigger profit. I also dont have the unemploymentness to join a restock discord for the small sliver of a chance to get a couple more packs at MSRP. I feel like I am going crazy, especially because the last time I was in the hobby, you could just walk into a store and buy a couple packs, and the fact that scalpers have ruined that for me and so much other people is sickening. Anyways, I just want to know the best place to get pokemon cards, (without needing a ton of time to monitor restocks) at the normal price.
