[Miscellaneous] What are your most controversial skincare takes?
Well outside of believing you only need minimal skincare. Everyone says that. And yes it's okay for it to be inspired by personal experience. I'll go first- Kbeauty has a better collection of products for oily and combo skin compared to dry skin. And I'm talking like actually dry skin that can drink up oils and layers of creams and come out fine. It absolutely kills at hydration. No argument there. The whole dewy glass skin concept. All my toners are k-beauty. But I feel like there's not many options for heavy moisture. Like most milky toners are light weight (for me) comapred to haru haru essence which is definitely a stand out. I also think the barrier serum category isn’t as developed compared to Western brands. ocokind barrier serum, byoma barrier serum, theramide ceramide treatment etc. Like korea has great hydration game just lacks at lipid replenishment currently. The facial oil market also feels less developed. K-beauty's got some nice hydrating serums like iunik beta glucan but I feel like there's some glycerin based serums like prequel multi-quench, transparent labs, regimen labs etc are far more effective options. Same with sunscreens. Many K-beauty sunscreens prioritize that elegant lightweight, matte, invisible finish, which I understand is popular. But personally, I like sunscreens with richer formulas like oils, butters, squalane, glycerin etc. Those feel rarer to find. And I have tried many, over twenty easily. I even tried the the aestura hydrobarrier one recently because it had ceramides, and somehow it still felt drying on me. Anyways in the end it's just my opinion inspired by personal experience and I mean no offense. Feel free to share yours. submitted by /u/Relevant_Grab370 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

[B&A] My skin before and after I dumped him
My acne was so awful that I saw a dermatologist, and was about to start Accutane. I even signed all the forms promising not to get pregnant while taking it. It had never been this bad, and they chalked up to mid 20s hormonal changes (this started when I was 25, I’m 26 now.) But it turned out the real problem was being in a toxic relationship and getting drunk off my ass every night. I really didn’t change my skincare routine to get rid of the acne. The issue was internal. It actually wasn’t until my skin cleared up that I felt comfortable experimenting with new products to address the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and boost hydration. But here is my current routine: AM: Prequel gleanser, Anua heartleaf toner, The Ordinary essence, The Ordinary hyaluronic acid, Peach and Lily glass skin serum, The Ordinary SPF serum, Peach and Lily beam blocker sunscreen or Jergens natural glow face moisturizer if I want to work on my (fake) tan. I’ve also been using Hawaiian Tropic mineral powder sunscreen to reapply SPF throughout the day, it goes over makeup nicely. PM: Garnier micellar water, The Inkey List cleansing balm, Prequel gleanser, Peach and Lily rice dough scrub, Anua toner or Medicube zero pore pad, The Ordinary essence, The Ordinary hyaluronic acid, Peach and Lily glass skin serum or my Curology tretinoin, The Ordinary barrier serum, The Ordinary squalane oil, Peach and Lily overnight star night cream, Strivectin anti wrinkle eye concentrate, and Zitsticka slug balm if my skin feels dry. I make sure to use only one exfoliant or active at a time, basically skin cycling. I also sometimes mix Isle of Paradise self tan drops with my moisturizer, especially this time of year. I wear a lot of sunscreen and want to make up for the tan I would be getting naturally if I didn’t use SPF, if that makes sense. That’s probably why my skin tone looks a bit different in the two pictures, the first one was taken back in October and the second one was a few days ago. My best skincare advice is to quit drinking and if he’s bad for you, throw the whole man away submitted by /u/Nekofairy999 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Ugh my post was cut short — What is your FAVORITE FACE SUNSCREEN? Preferably with an SPF of 30 or higher! ☀️
I have to re-do this because my story was incomplete after I posted it! Grrrr. I am 34F constantly on the hunt for my holy grail sunscreen. The problem??? Chemical sunscreens tend to break me out within the same day (like after I wash my face, I see the breakout). It’s not ALL chemical sunscreens, but for me, it’s most of them. 😭 Personally, mineral sunscreens do not break me out! However, I really like that chemical sunscreens get absorbed into my skin and can have some cool skincare benefits! Ugh. I have tried so many, sooooo many. This is some of my collection 🫠 For reference, I am pale. I tend to stay out of the sun. In my 20’s, I was a sun-bather. I was always glowing and tan. I got pregnant at 28 and continued to bask in the sun for an hour a day, unprotected. The result?? MELAMSA. Thank GOD one of my old high school friends informed me about Melasma and told me to wear my sunscreen. Unfortunately, it was too late and the damage was done. Yes, I have done multiple rounds of hydroquinone cream from my dermatologist/ compound pharmacy. Sadly, my melasma comes right back after a few short weeks of clear, even skin. My next step, and hopefully my FINAL step, will be laser treatments. I’m so sad and insecure about my spots. They are ALL over my face now, they seem to spread as time goes on. Fml. So naturally, I love me a tinted or lightly tinted sunscreen for my face. Right now, what I typically grab in the mornings is — Naturium “Dew Glow” Moisturizer with SPF 50 (chemical). I also really like TIZO “AM Replenish” Lightly Tinted SPF 40 (mineral), SkinBetter Science “SunBetter” Advanced Mineral Protection SPF 75 (damn this one is like FULL coverage tho.. and expensive as shit), and Supergoop “Protec(TINT)” with SPF 50 (hybrid, with zinc oxide, homosalate, and octisalate). I truly would love to read about some of your favorite sunscreens that you tend to reach for daily. I’m open to anything!!! Ideally I’d love a tinted sunscreen that does not burn my eyes (looking at you, Neutrogena), that isn’t ORANGE (looking at you La Roche, sorry I’m pale AF), and doesn’t break me out…. But that’s to be determined upon application and a wear-test lol! 🥴 submitted by /u/michpilk to r/30PlusSkinCare [link] [comments]

I bought Prequel skincare for my 75 year old mother and she can’t stop raving about it.
I’m a huge fan of Prequel myself and after listening to my mom complain about her dry skin all fall, I bought her quite a few of their products. Namely the Gleanser cleanser, Skin Utility Gel, Half and Half moisturizer, AM/PM moisturizer, Multi Acid Milk Peel, Hand Wrap, and Urea Face & Body lotion. She loves every last product an d texted me tonight that several people have complimented her on her skin lately. She is so tickled that her skin is no longer flaky. Just thought I would share since many of us are super dry this time of year. Prequel will solve that. If you are interested but only want get a couple of things, the Skin Utility Gel and the AM/PM moisturizer are the way to go. Some of my receipts so you know I’m not a bot. [Misc] Prequel Skincare
Hi everyone!! I recently have been struggling with hormonal, painful acne and PlE on my cheeks due to birth control. I've been seeing sooo much talk about Prequel Skincare at target. I've been seeing alot about their oil cleanser, gleanser, half &half, and their vit c (I think a skin ceauticals dupe). Has anyone with hormonal acne tried this line? Is it worth it? [Misc] I analyzed 60+ Reddit posts to find the best Vitamin C serums
I scraped comments from 60+ skincare threads asking "what's the best vitamin C serums", then ran that massive amounts of comments data in LLM pipeline to see which serums get consistent love vs. mixed reactions. Goal wasn’t “most talked about,” but “most positively talked about." Method in a nutshell: Scraped 60+ “what Vitamin C should I buy?” threads and product rec Megathreads Used GPT-5 + Gemini 2.5 to extract product mentions and classify sentiment Scoring = 70% positive vs. negative differential + 30% positive/total ratio Manually merged name variants so duplicates didn’t inflate scores (e.g., “CE Ferulic,” “C E Ferulic,” “Skinceuticals CE” → one entry) also used some other sentiment metrics, won't bore you with all the nerdy stuff. [Misc] Prequel Skincare
I just recently jumped on the Prequel wave because I love their Gleanser and it works so nicely on sensitive & combative skin. I have eczema and rosacea, so it tends to not like most things. I swear sometimes I feel like I have the most sensitive skin ever- anything can send my skin into a frenzy. Anyways- I purchased their oil cleanser as a double cleanser and their AM/PM moisturizer. I just used them for the first time today and my skin feels a lot calmer even though I’m having a really bad flare. I also use the Rhode Barrier Butter and I love it, but I feel like it traps the heat in my face sometimes when I’m having a rosacea flair so I needed something lighter. I really want to try their half and half moisturizer, one of their ointments or treatments or sunscreens. Or anything really. I know they have a lot of products for redness too. Does anyone recommend any of their products or have experience with them? submitted by /u/YourDadsHouse11 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Prequel skincare Reddit community reviews
The Good Formulas that work (especially if your skin hates heavy oils) "It's an outstanding line. I've swapped most of my skincare routine to them. Love that they have super hydrating products heavy in glycerin rather than shea butter, etc. My skin dislikes the latter and thrives with glycerin. Formulas are simple and very effective." (15 upvotes) Gleanser has a cult following "The texture is like lube and it's fucking great." (69 upvotes) "I have been using the cleanser and I LOVE it as well." (13 upvotes) Milk Peel stands out as a P50 dupe "I just switched to the Multi-Acid Milk Peel after finishing my last bottle of BR P50 a few weeks ago. I like it better already." (66 upvotes) "If you haven't tried the Milk Peel on your body yet, I highly recommend it. I do that and then layer with the urea lotion and it makes my skin so smooth and glowy, as well as helping with little ingrowns on my legs and KP." (41 upvotes) .... We've migrated the post. Prequel Skincare
How do you guys feel about the brand prequel? They are a pocket friendly skincare brand with lots of products. The brand is suitable for those of us who might have sensitive skin and rosacea, I’ve been making recommendations for clients to try their products if they are trying to be a little bit more cost effective and don’t want to spend money on what we offer in our clinic. [Routine Help] [Product Question] Prequel Skincare/Makeup Issues?
I've been using the prequel skincare line for almost a month and love it. I'm actually seeing a difference in redness and my face feels softer and is brighter! The issue i am having is finding makeup that will work over these products. I have tried SO many that I've contemplated sitting in the floor and sobbing. So far, I have tried: Saie skin tint, Tower 28 Tinted Sunscreen, LYS Skin Tint Foundation Stick, Merit Complexion Stick, Hourglass Skin Tint and Estee Lauder Futurist Skin Tint. I've tried these products multiple times with different products underneath. With a primer, without a primer, with sunscreen, without sunscreen, etc. The Estee Lauder stayed the best of all, but still separated on my forehead and around my nose and mouth area and also oxidized as the day went on. It also contains an ingredient that causes my perioral dermatitis to flare up and was irritating my skin when i wore it. I don't want anything full coverage. I just want something to help even out my skin tone and bring some warmth into my face. Has anyone else had similar issues with these products? I will take any and all suggestions. I just want to be able to wear makeup to work and have nice skin, too. 😅 Routine for reference: AM: (I was using the Multi-Quench and Redness Reform in the morning as well, but thought maybe that was causing issues with makeup pilling/separating) - Gleanser - Universal Skin Solution - Lucent-C - Sun Barrier Mineral Sunscreen PM: - Pre-Gleanse - Gleanser - Universal Skin Solution - Multi-Quench - Redness Reform - Skin Utility Gel submitted by /u/haleyah08 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

7 Years on Fabior .1%
I apologize that this isn’t a perfect before and after but I do feel you can see the results I’ve achieved over the course of 7 years. I grew up on a farm, working outside constantly with no sunscreen. Mom was worried about me getting acne so she had me but on accutane for my teenage years. In college I started to get into skincare, but it was mostly buying whatever and smearing it on. I ended up getting little calcium deposits all over my face, still have no idea what caused them. I couldn’t afford to have a plastic surgeon removed them, so it was just a normal dermatologist. In 2017 after I had moved to Nashville my dermatologist suggested I start using Fabior foam for anti-aging and to soften my scars. He offered to rework the scars, but I decided to go the cheaper route of using Fabior foam. My insurance wouldn’t cover it, but he had me get it from a special pharmacy for $90 a can. It lasts me roughly 3-4 months. It was a struggle figuring out the right balance of skincare and during this journey and in the past three years I developed facial eczema. Slowing down, backing off - trying new things carefully got me where I am today. Sun spots gone, scars soften tremendously. I still get breakouts but I can normally quickly get them under control. My Routine - Morning: Panoxyl 10% in the shower Niod CAIS3 Prequel Multi-Quench Zeroid Intensive Oint Cream Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh SPF Night: Prequel Gleanser Fabior Foam .1% Prequel Multi-Quench Zeroid Intensive Oint Cream Every other morning I use P50V before I shower. If my skin is feeling angry that night I’ll skip the Fabior and do another dose of CAIS3. Patch test everything. Find the connection between formulas that you use that break you out. Chat GPT helped me tremendously with this. submitted by /u/shanethomas28 to r/tretinoin [link] [comments]

I started taking care of my skin at about 47 lol. It’s seriously not too late. Just be consistent and don’t get discouraged if you don’t look 20 on the first day. Just keep going every day. I don’t look 20 but my skin looks a lot better now than if I hadn’t started caring for my skin and I’m happy with where I’m at right now. Current daytime routine: -double cleanse (1) Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil (2) Prequel Skin - Gleanser - Tone: Anua Heartleaf 77 Soothing Toner - Treat: (1)Tretinoin 0.05% on face, neck, chest. (2) Innbeauty Elastic Skin - Moisturize: Innbeauty Extreme cream and sometimes Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Overnight Face Mask Current Daytime routine: - wash with water - Innbeauty Pore Less - Innbeauty Slushy - 50 spf Sunscreen (either under makeup or as makeup on face, neck, hands, chest) and also reapplied later in the day (SuperGoop powdered sunscreen) Also, I’m still new to this so if anyone sees any obvious issues in my routine, please let me know. 🙏 submitted by /u/ohromujici to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

[PSA]-Prequel Skincare Recall
Good evening reddit SCA, Quick PSA, I just got an email from Prequel Skincare that the Barrier Therapy Cream is recalled due to being contaminated with Staphylococcus saprophyticus bacteria. Anyone that has purchased from this company, please check your emails for batch codes and discontinue this item!! I’m not sure how common these types of contaminations are, but staph is pretty serious, and I was very very shocked to get an email about this today. submitted by /u/Tinysoftperson to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Prequel skincare
Is the prequel vitamin C really worth it? Better than skin better science and skin ceuticals? Also how about the hyaluronic acid serum? I’m thinking about purchasing skin better science interfuse lines which is HA based. submitted by /u/honeyyybooboo to r/SkincareAddictionLux [link] [comments]

[REVIEW] A handful of Prequel skincare products
No real intro here other than I have tried a handful of products from Prequel (Dr. Sam Ellis' skincare line) and wanted to give reviews so here I am. Background: I have acne prone, sensitive skin that leans dry. I am on tretinoin 0.1%, Winlevi 1%, and Azelaic Acid 15%. With those as my workhorses I generally try to keep everything else in my routine gentle and hydrating, so the Prequel philosophy of elevated basics really appealed to me. My body skin leans dry but isn't particularly sensitive. All of these have no discernible scent other than maybe a little floral/fresh scent on the Redness Remedy (VERY SLIGHT) In order of trying: Gleanser: Glycerin Cleanser - $18 for 13.5oz This stuff is worth the hype. I use this as my second cleanse and it is so lovely. It lathers up nicely so you really don't need a ton of product and it rinses away without leaving any stripping feeling or residue. If I had to compare it to another product it's got the gentleness of the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser but with enough of a lather so it doesn't feel like you're just rubbing conditioner on your face. I keep reading reviews where people say they can't describe the texture cause it's unlike anything else. Bullshit. The texture is like lube and it's fucking great. As a reference point (looking through my email), this was delivered to me on 11/7/23 and I've used it every single day to wash my face and I would say I have about 1/5 left in my bottle. I don't use a full pump; more like half or even a third. This is totally worth the price even if it's the only thing you order and have to pay for shipping. Packaging is a plastic pump bottle that is perfectly serviceable. 10 out of 10 will repurchase once this never ending bottle is empty. Skin Utility Ointment - $18 for 2oz This is a petrolatum based ointment. It's definitely lighter feeling and silkier than Aquaphor, CeraVe Healing Ointment, and straight vaseline. It is noticeably less greasy than the aforementioned, despite still having 45% petrolatum (Aquaphor has 46.5% and CeraVe has 41%). If I was to try to guess the amount in it by how much less greasy it feels I would've guessed around 30%. So I do think they did a really good job with the formulation here. For me though, it's still definitely an ointment. I wouldn't put it on my face during the day or on my hands if I was going to touch my phone or something. It's also less cost effective than CeraVe and doesn't have the ceramides and HA that CeraVe has. I'm not someone who really cares that much about being a greaseball when I slug at night so the CeraVe is the superior choice for me, but if you want to slug and want something that isn't quite as thick, this ointment wouldn't be a bad idea. I got my order containing this on 3/14/24 and used it almost every day to slug. Trying to remember when I ran out but I think it was sometime in late May. Packing a squeeze tube. It is what it is I have no complaints. 6 out of 10 will not repurchase just cause I like CeraVe more. Urea Advanced Relief Moisturizing Milk - $22 for 13.5oz In terms of viscosity I would compare this to the CeraVe lotion, but this one has a bit more of a emollient slip to it. I think of having to rub in the CeraVe lotion quite a bit to get it to absorb but this one absorbs almost immediately, and with the pump container is SUPER convenient. It's more liquidy than the Cetaphil lotion. I do think the urea does do something to make my skin feel a little bit smoother but it's nothing miraculous. That being said, I've used it on my face a few times and it does make my face feel super smooth, but I can't use it on a regular basis or it can start to irritate my skin. I'm a big fan of thick, rich body cream/butter, and when I exfoliate my body and shave I want something thicker to really make that experience complete, but if you're someone who just wants something to use day to day that isn't that much of a fuss this fits the bill. My dog would also like to add a note that this lotion is delicious and incredible to lick off people's skin. I got this on 3/14/24 and I've probably used it 4-5 times a week, using about 4 pumps for my whole body, and I would say I have about 1/5 of the bottle left. Packaging is basically the same pump for the Gleanser but opaque and blue. 7 out of 10 will probably repurchase for the Summer just because it's easy and low drama to use. I might try their thicker one come Fall/Winter. Redness Reform - $20 for 1oz Honestly this was kind of an impulse purchase and I'm not sure it was an amazing choice. As far as texture it's a lightweight gel serum that sinks in quickly and doesn't pill; I would use it in the morning under sunscreen and moisturizer. I think it maybe helped? Like I'm sort of looking at my skin and I would generally describe it as less red than it was a couple months ago? The green tint to the serum is kind of deceiving cause it's so translucent it isn't offering any immediate color correction. I think if anything this helped sort of overall redness but definitely was not a treatment for lightening any post inflammatory red spots. My beef with this is how small the package is. I used two pumps each morning since I got it on 4/9/24 and I ran out today. The ceramic container is really lovely and feels high end but there is just no way to get the product out once the product no longer pumps out. It's just weird to me because 1oz of product is very standard for a serum and others I've used last at least 3 months and I don't think feel like I was pumping out an insane amount of this one. Anyway, 5 out of 10 and probably wont repurchase cause I'm not confident that it did anything and it seems like the cost per use would be pretty low compared to other serums. Hand Wrap Shielding Lotion - $14 for 3.4oz I'll be honest...I was persuaded to try this from this Instagram post where Dr. Sam Ellis does the whole application process and like goes through the 5 stages of grief and what you'll experience with every step of this hand cream. I didn't really experience all those steps. I do think a little goes a long way with this and it does have some really fascinating film-forming formula that keeps your hands feeling moisturized even after washing. I don't think it lasts all day. I'm a lawyer who works from home so I'm only washing my hands when I use the bathroom or when I'm cooking, and I still felt like I would need to re-apply this throughout the day to feel protected. It's definitely a lightweight kind of film that isn't greasy and lets you carry on with the rest of your daily activities. I don't really feel like it adds a ton of hydration outside of the film. At night I think I prefer something a bit thicker, like O'Keefes or some random scent hand cream that's really packed with shea butter or whatever. I do like the Hand Wrap for the day. Compared to O'Keefes this is a bit more expensive but if I want something that is really undetectable I don't think this is a bad option. The price I also still in the ballpark of some drugstore hand creams considering the size of the product. 7 out of 10 I could see myself repurchasing if maybe I wanted to hit free shipping and were buying other things. Overall, I still feel really positively about the brand. Some things weren't for me and my preferences, but there aren't any products (except maybe that Redness Reform packaging) that make me go "What were they thinking?" or that no one would ever benefit from them. The company has always been great at responding to my email inquiries about layer products or what products can be mixed with what and I really appreciate it. Anyway, tl;dr buy the Gleanser thank me later. submitted by /u/nuggetsofchicken to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

I am Pinar Toprak — composer for Captain Marvel, DC’s Stargirl, Fortnite, and many, many more… AMA!
Hi, everyone! I’m Pinar Toprak and I composed the score to a little Marvel movie called Captain Marvel. I’ve written music for film, TV, video games, and beyond! Most recently I scored DC’s Stargirl which just premiered on the DC Universe app and The CW. I’ve also composed music for the video game Fortnite, the SyFy Superman prequel series Krypton, documentaries like HBO’s McMillions about the McDonald’s Monopoly game scandal, as well as created the new main anthem for Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park, AND even wrote music for Christina Aguilera’s 2019 Xperience show in Las Vegas. I’m a single mom who loves sailing, is obsessed with skincare, and loves to shoot billiards in her spare time. Check out my website: https://www.pinartoprak.com/ and ASK ME ANYTHING!
