I bought the Clinique even better serum foundation in the shade WN 104 Toffee. It was a little too orange for me, but it is less orange compared to other foundations on me. I thought I’m warm toned but turns out I’m neutral so I mix a bit of blue pigment into it and it’s perfect on my skin. It has a satin matte finish and is medium to full coverage. It’s a decent foundation except for the fact that if I have to walk anywhere where there’s sunlight it makes me sweat like crazy. I have dry skin but it makes my entire face drip drops of sweat when it isn’t even summer, and the city I live in has dry air, not humid. I can only wear it in an air conditioned environment without issues. I live in a place which has mild climate, not very hot and not very cold. I think this foundation would probably be fine if you live in a colder country. So bear that in mind if you want to buy this. It also doesn’t sit well with a dewy setting spray on top. It separates if I use one on this foundation so I just set with powder instead. Other than the sweating problem, I really like the finish of this foundation. It blends very easily into my skin. If I do my skincare properly before applying it, it has a slight dewy finish which I quite like, and it also lasts all day as long as I’m not in the sun. Unfortunately since I do spend most of my time in non air-conditioned places I will not be repurchasing this. Summer’s almost here and I wanted to review some sunscreens. For reference I have oily combination dehydration prone sensitive light-fair skin. ————————— Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun 50ml My skin feels and looks better when I wear this. I’ve gone through several tubes now. I can wear this in the dry winter and humid summer. No pilling, no bad fragrance. I haven’t found one I like better. Repeat- yes Bioré UV Aqua Rich Airy Hold Cream 70g I love the texture of this it’s like cake icing which seems gross but it is actually airy and light. I can easily get an even layer on for good sun protection and it dries quickly. It also helps tone down the shine. I’ll probably be using it more in the summer. Repeat- yes Skin Aqua Serum UV 70g I also love this texture it’s like a gel or serum and has this hydrating cooling feeling. I like how it feels but I’m always trying to tone down shine so good for if you want dewy. I still like it and just powder over it. Repeat- yes Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV 40g This one is good for a dewy look but personally made me greasy and I didn’t really notice it helping under makeup much. For me this one is okay but I also don’t like the smell. Repeat- maybe not Skin1004 Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum 50ml This one might be better for summer as I’ve only tried it in winter/spring but my skin felt kind of tight wearing this. Maybe I can add a moisturizer underneath but I really didn’t care for this one much. I also don’t like the pump as I struggle with packaging. I know I lot of people like this one so I’m gonna try it again with different skincare. Repeat- probably not Beauty of Joseon Stay Fresh Tone-Up Sun Cream (centella + ceramide) 50ml It’s like the same texture as the rice probiotics one but green. You have to be careful of it being streaky and I know it’s tone up but when I put an adequate amount for sun protection I look like a ghost lol This probably looks better if you use less so maybe I could try using the rice probiotics one and put a thin layer of this on top. I think it would also look best if i put foundation on top since it’s supposed to tone down redness but didn’t really tone down much redness for me. Repeat- maybe not Kiss Me Mommy UV Aqua Milk 50g This is for kids but I wanted to try a fragrance-free milk type sunscreen. This one was comfortable with no complaints until I broke out. Could work for you but didn’t for me, but I use it on my body so it works for that. Repeat- no Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua Fresh 10ml Make sure to shake this because it separates. Didn’t really like the texture or the smell. It also pills. Repeat- no ————————— I’ll still be using these on my face or body so they don’t go to waste. I usually use only the NYX concealer serum on my entire face. Even though it’s not very high coverage, it looks skin-like and maybe creases just a tiny bit around my nose at the end of a long day. I wanted to try a more full coverage foundation because I have a lot of acne scars and redness, so I got the e.l.f. Soft Glam Satin Foundation. It looked really good right after applying but after a few hours my base has never looked worse. It separated and got really greasy throughout the day and it just looked horrible on me. I know skin prep has to match the foundation and this one is water-based, just like my skin prep, so I don’t understand what caused it to turn out like that. I know everyone’s experience can vary because everyone’s skin is different, but this was honestly so bad for me. I used the e.l.f. Power Grip Primer underneath. I havent seen much chatter about this item, so I wanted to post a raving review about it for anyone else who may be looking for something like this to add to their collection! I own both colors - one being a bronzey tone and the other a super fair pink. The formula is super thin and easy to spread, the pigment is there but NOT intense and will not greatly alter any product you mix it with, and if you wear it on it's own, your skin is glowing but NOT glittery and it is so flattering!!! My favorite way to use it is by mixing with foundations- so far I have mixed the bronzey one with my Chanel foundation which is a tad too fair on me, and I also have mixed the pale pink one with my sarah creal face flex. Both times worked great- my prefered method is applying the sarah creal in dabs on my face, pumping the one/size serum in my hands, then going straight to my face with my hands and rubbing the serum in with the face flex, it thins it out PERFECTLY and gives such amazing coverage to my entire face, and the face flex can be a bit drying but adding this serum makes it just right for when my skin is a bit dry. This stuff is moisturizing too - and it dries fast!! It doesn't leave your skin feeling tacky or your foundation unable to dry, honestly it's the perfect product for me. I have tried other bronzing drops but find they put TOO much bronze into the products I mix with, or make me look orange if I use it on its own, and other lighter toned glow products add too much shimmer or the formula wasn't great for me. On my last trip to Seoul, I set out to find my new HG foundation. My favorite for many years has been Moonshot's Micro Correctfit foundation, which was discontinued a few years ago in their rebrand. As my supply dwindled down to my final bottle and I found myself in Seoul, I decided my goal was to buy multiple foundations while I was able to sample and swatch in store to make sure I got a decent shade match. Yes, I know this is a LOT of foundations but I was taking advantage of the opportunity to try a bunch and hopefully being able to share reviews and swatches here will help someone. About my skin/tone: Normal-to-dry, light skin with warm undertones. I am almost always a 21 in Asian foundations, or the closest available warm shade. Late 30s so there are some fine lines brewing foundation can settle in. My season is a soft autumn. What I look for in a foundation: Medium coverage that looks natural. Foundations that are too matte tend to break along my nose or chin. Should wear well in hot, humid weather in the Southern US and I'm recently trying to not powder my face and use only setting spray. I typically apply foundation with a sponge, even cushion foundations I will finish with my sponge over the included one. I have had most of these since November, so I have worn them all many times to form an opinion. But as I have not had them in the summer yet I haven't yet been able to test against summer weather. All of these foundations were purchased in while in Seoul or via retailers that ship from Korea, so they are all the official Korean formulation and not modified for US FDA SPF regulations. Every foundation should be currently available, with the exception being my previous HG Moonshot foundation that I am only including since it is what I was comparing everything to. REVIEW TIME Moonshot Micro Correctfit -- My skin just loves this foundation. It is the perfect combination of hydrating without being super glowy, lasts all day, and doesn't break. I always thought this was a perfect match, but I am noticing how much darker it is next to the other swatches. I'm sure it has oxidized over time. Shade 201, SPF50+ PA+++. tfit Icy Fit Cushion -- Do you want to glow enough that your face can be seen from space? This cushion is for you! People comment on how good my skin looks when I wear this, but despite that it isn't at the top of my rankings. I do think it might go higher in the summer when I can properly test its claims of cooling down the surface of the skin. It has one of the highest SPF/PA ratings. Shade W01 Vanilla, SPF50+ PA++++. About Tone Skin Layer Fit -- This foundation is super thick coming out of the pump, I don't think I've ever used a foundation with such a thick consistency. But it blends out easily and the smallest pump goes really far, so I think this bottle will last me a very long time. Despite the consistency, it doesn't feel heavy on the skin and has a very pretty, natural finish. It's a near-perfect shade match for me too, the undertone is perfect for my subtle yellow undertones so it just disappears into my skin. It does seems to break around my nose after a few hours so it isn't my highest ranking foundation but it is a great foundation I will happily use up. Shade 21.5W Light Beige, SPF 30 PA++ Hince Second Skin Foundation -- I really wanted to like this one more because I love Hince's products, and the bottle is so cool (although I resent it a bit for not fitting in my vanity drawer). It has a noticeable fragrance which is so unnecessary in a foundation IMO. The color looks nice coming out of the bottle but it oxidize so much after a few minutes and pulls very orange. It does live up to the second skin name, because it feels like nothing on and looks very natural. But because of the oxidizing color and scent it isn't one I will reach for. They do have some very light shades (13 and 15) so if you're really pale it could be one to consider, even with the oxidizing color. Shade 21 Ivory, SPF 30 PA++ Wakemake Seamless Wear Foundation -- This one was a shade fail on my part. They don't have a warm shade in 21 so I opted for the neutral 21 shade which in store looked somewhat warm. I should have gotten shade 19, which is warm but thought it would be too light. Shade match aside, I really like this foundation. It has great coverage without using a lot of product and looks great at the end of the day. It does not play well with setting powder, and really shows the powder sitting on top of it. Shade 21N, SPF 30 PA+++ Espoir Be Velvet Foundation -- This is a beautiful shade match for me despite being considered neutral, but the velvet finish is just not what my skin wants so it looks a bit dry on my skin. The finish is a true velvet, blurring effect and not a straight up matte. I don't have very large pores but it does a great job at hiding them. I think it is a solid product, just might not be for me. I hope to keep trying it into the warmer months when my skin is less dry. Espoir always has fabulous packaging, and this is a great example of that. The bottle feels so luxe and like a high-end designer foundation. Shade 21N, SPF 22 PA++ Espoir Be Glow Stick Foundation -- Picked this up because I liked the shade, but not the finish of the other Espoir foundation. I have not used a stick foundation in over 25 years and unfairly associate them as being heavy and cakey, since the last one I used was a super high coverage theater makeup product. This is not the same thing! It is light coverage and a "your skin but better" product. The light coverage does mean it isn't what I reach for when I want a full face, but it is perfect for putting on a 5 minute face to get out the door. I always find myself looking at my skin when I wear it. I did not think I would like a stick foundation so much, but I love how quick it can be applied and that is is travel friendly when I want to keep my liquids under control. Great SPF coverage too! This will be one I always have in my drawer. Shade W01 Vanilla, SPF 50+ PA++++ Etude Double Lasting Vegan Cover Foundation -- When I saw this at Olive Young, I thought it had replaced the original Double Lasting foundation. Since I always liked that product I decided to try this one. This foundation feels like Etude has grown up with me, because it feels like it was made for adults and not the youthful market I associate them with. This has a much more natural finish and feels like nothing is on my skin. Wears beautiful all day and doesn't budge. I wish they had more shades like the other Etude foundations. The packaging is chic and minimalist, but unfortunately the pump is terrible and leaks foundation after I'm done with it. Then it gets all smooshed in the clear cap and looks a mess. Shade 19N Light Beige, SPF 32 PA++ Etude Double Lasting OG Foundation -- After I bought the Vegan version, I looked into whether this had been discontinued and found it had not but Olive Young didn't carry it. This was one of the first Korean foundations I ever used and I recall liking it. I didn't see it anywhere in Seoul (fwiw, I did not go to the Etude store) so this is one I ordered online after the fact. The shade range has changed since I last purchased it (previously I was Y03 Ivory) and it seems the formula may have changed as well. The weird thing about this foundation is I find it can look a bit heavy when I'm looking at my skin in the mirror (it has great coverage) but it photographs absolutely beautifully. I tend to use this one when I'm working from home and want to look polished in an on-camera meeting, and recently wore it for my passport photo. Because it is pretty high coverage, it is the closest to a lot of Western foundations and something people new to K-beauty would like. Shade 21W1, SPF 35 PA++ tfit Radiance Serum Fit Foundation -- Oooh, this foundation is pretty! It is the only foundation on this list that does not have any sun protection in it, which is interesting for a Korean brand. But it does mean it can be purchased on global sites and will be identical to what is sold in Korea. This is a true serum foundation that falls somewhere inbetween a BB cream and a foundation. More coverage than a BB cream, but still looks natural and like I'm not wearing makeup. Gives a nice, radiant glow but doesn't look artificial. It's a great shade match for me, and my skin looks healthy when I wear it. Shade name and appearance is consistent with the tfit cushion, even though they are different lines. Shade W01 Vanilla, no SPF Hince Second Skin Glow Cushion -- So much better than the liquid foundation. No scent, and the color does not oxidize. One of my favorite cushion packages as well, where the foundation doesn't ooze out if pushed on a bit too hard. The product gets on the sponge and not my fingers. The product feel is very similar to the liquid foundation with the weightless, skin-like finish but the added glow element improves upon the finish on my skin type. Cushions aren't usually my favorite, but this is one of the best I've used. Shade 21 Ivory, SPF 50+ PA++++ Jung Saem Mool Essential Skin Nuder Cushion -- Despite my love of K-beauty, this was my first Jung Saem Mool product. The shade runs a bit darker than I'd expect out of a 21, and apparently that is a trend with JSM products and I wasn't aware. I can get away with it if I blend well, but I would get a lighter shade next time. I do knock it over the shade, because typically Korean foundations are pretty consistent shades between brands with the standard numbering, and JSM appears to differ from that. It is very hydrating with a beautiful finish. It's won so many awards I will try it again with a better shade. Shade 21 Medium, no SPF. Phew, OK that is a lot to read! In short, I don't dislike any of these foundations as most Korean foundations are excellent, so even my least favorite are still objectively very good. I’m exceptionally pale with dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. I’ve been on the hunt for a foundation that won’t irritate my skin. My go-to for the longest time was the #13N Missha perfect cover Bb cream (the one in the red tube). However, I’ve noticed that if I wear it consistently I’ll start to have clogged pores and subsequent breakouts. It’s also ever so slightly pink-leaning on me. It wears beautifully but I hate the breakouts (I’m guessing it’s the mineral oils) and I’d prefer something that fit my skin tone a bit better. Hi everyone! I was casually browsing the Korean app Hwahae and stumbled upon a detailed review of The History of Whoo Cheongidan Essence (now reformulated as the Pro Repair Serum) that honestly made me pause. I wasn’t planning to buy it at all. Most of the older threads I’ve read on Reddit basically described it as “meh, nice but nothing wow,” especially considering the price. I already have a long wishlist and… very little money T_T But this review really got into my head. The review (translated by Google) "I'm 34 years old now, and I've been using this product for 13 years straight. Whenever I meet people, they're always shocked that my face still looks like I'm in my early twenties. I've never had a single cosmetic procedure done. I've genuinely experienced how this serum is the secret behind my youthful appearance. Two years ago, I actually stopped using this serum because I got obsessed with another brand's serum. I used it for six months, and suddenly my face started to sag, wrinkles appeared more easily, and people around me even mentioned that I looked older all of a sudden. I was so alarmed that I switched back to this serum, and within six months, my face returned to normal. That experience really drove home how much this product matters to me. I haven't had a single blemish since switching back. I shop at two major department stores in Gangnam regularly, and the staff there told me that plenty of customers have had the same experience as me with this particular serum. What's fascinating about this serum is that when you're using it, you don't necessarily feel like it's doing something amazing. Your complexion doesn't have an obvious glow or anything dramatic. It just feels moderately good. But the moment you stop using it and try something else for a few months, both you and the department store staff notice the same thing happening—your skin ages noticeably faster. I've tried their Power Ampoule, which is positioned as a step below this serum, but honestly, it didn't compare. The department store staff agreed with me on that too. This product has been reformulated. It used to be called the Essence, but now it's been relaunched as the Pro Repair Serum. I used to buy it online from cheaper retailers because I was lazy, but last year I bought it from a department store and learned it had been reformulated. The new version is so much better—it absorbs more smoothly and smells better too. The old version had a stale smell. I'm writing this for anyone who might be confused like I was, since the old discontinued version might still be floating around online. Hwahae also has two other lines—the Hwayul line and the Hwanyu line. I don't recommend the Hwayul line because it doesn't really improve wrinkles. As for the Hwanyu line, I tried their most expensive product last year and it caused so many blemishes and irritation that my skin completely flipped out. Expensive doesn't automatically mean better. But this Hwahae line? I remember watching my mom use it when I was a kid and thinking, "When I grow up, I'm going to use this too." I started using it when I was 21, and now at 34, I absolutely love the entire Hwahae line—the toner, serum, and ampoule. They're all fantastic! The eye cream from this line, though? I honestly can't tell if it's doing anything. Sulwhasoo has their most expensive line called the Jinsul line, and unfortunately, it causes blemishes on my skin too. Even though I have dry skin, I tested it last year to be thorough. What I discovered is that the Hwahae Serum definitely keeps you looking younger longer. It's packed with antioxidants that prevent aging. The Jinsul Serum does give you more immediate results for wrinkles and lifting, but it lacks the antioxidant power, so after a few months, the Hwahae Serum wins because it keeps your skin from aging as quickly in other areas. If the Jinsul Serum didn't cause blemishes, I would have used it once a week as a treatment while keeping the Hwahae Serum as my main product, but that's the disappointing part. The Jinsul Serum feels more like a wrinkle and lifting treatment, but if you only use that, you lose the antioxidant protection and your skin ages faster overall. The Hwahae Serum, on the other hand, is designed from the ground up to prevent aging, prevent wrinkles, and prevent sagging, so it keeps you looking younger longer. It might not have the immediate wrinkle-lifting effect of the Jinsul Serum, but its antioxidant power is strong, so ultimately, the Hwahae Serum keeps you looking younger and prevents aging better. I'm really into skincare, so I test products obsessively, and I have to say the Hwahae line wins. Another thing I want to praise Hwahae for is their cleansing foam! I just learned last year that they don't use harsh surfactants at all—they use natural surfactants instead. I've been using their cleansing foam since I was 21, and that's definitely part of why I look so young. I especially recommend their Gongjinahyang Cleansing Foam—it doesn't cause blemishes, it's gentle, and it works beautifully. Oil-based cleansers or ones with too much water can accelerate aging around the eye area. A foaming cleansing formula is actually better for preventing aging. I discovered this last year when I switched to Sulwhasoo's cleansing foam and my skin felt tight and wrinkled. When I called Sulwhasoo customer service, they confirmed that yes, they do use surfactants that aren't ideal for skin. Hwahae really nails their cleansing foam formula. The thing is, Hwahae's sales are overwhelmingly dominated by the Chinese market, so they don't need Korean customers as much, which is why they don't advertise as heavily. That's why Sulwhasoo has more reviews online from Korean customers. Both brands are good if you use them, but Hwahae's effectiveness is genuinely superior in most cases. That said, when it comes to sheet masks, I actually use Sulwhasoo's more because they give better glow and results. I use Hwahae's masks when my skin needs recovery and regeneration. As for Hwahae's cushion foundation line? I'd say they should probably step back from that business. Sulwhasoo's Airy Cushion is my holy grail—it's the best. Hi everyone! I was casually browsing Hwahae and stumbled upon a detailed review of The History of Whoo Cheongidan Essence (now reformulated as the Pro Repair Serum) that honestly made me pause. I wasn’t planning to buy it at all. Most of the older threads I’ve read on Reddit basically described it as “meh, nice but nothing wow,” especially considering the price. I already have a long wishlist and… very little money T_T But this review really got into my head. The review (translated by Google) "I'm 34 years old now, and I've been using this product for 13 years straight. Whenever I meet people, they're always shocked that my face still looks like I'm in my early twenties. I've never had a single cosmetic procedure done. I've genuinely experienced how this serum is the secret behind my youthful appearance. Two years ago, I actually stopped using this serum because I got obsessed with another brand's serum. The Jinsul Serum does give you more immediate results for wrinkles and lifting, but it lacks the antioxidant power, so after a few months, the Hwahae Serum wins because it keeps your skin from aging as quickly in other areas. If the Jinsul Serum didn't cause blemishes, I would have used it once a week as a treatment while keeping the Hwahae Serum as my main product, but that's the disappointing part. The Jinsul Serum feels more like a wrinkle and lifting treatment, but if you only use that, you lose the antioxidant protection and your skin ages faster overall. The Hwahae Serum, on the other hand, is designed from the ground up to prevent aging, prevent wrinkles, and prevent sagging, so it keeps you looking younger longer. It might not have the immediate wrinkle-lifting effect of the Jinsul Serum, but its antioxidant power is strong, so ultimately, the Hwahae Serum keeps you looking younger and prevents aging better. Back in December, I had the opportunity to see it in store, swatch it, and ultimately purchase it. The product retails for £104, and luckily I had accumulated enough points to get it for free, which is why I decided to go ahead with it. I’ve been using it consistently for the past three weeks, and here are my thoughts: Skin benefits: My skin has noticeably improved without any changes to my existing skincare routine. This is most likely due to Augustinus Bader’s patented TFC8 ingredient, which also explains the high price point. My skin looks and feels more moisturised and plump, and I may be seeing some improvement in the appearance of fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes. Packaging: I really like the packaging, which combines Victoria Beckham Beauty’s signature sleek black with Augustinus Bader’s blue branding. Many people have commented that it feels cheap and are unhappy that a £104 product comes in plastic packaging. I disagree. The packaging is well suited to the formula: it protects the product from light exposure, is lightweight and travel-friendly, easy to store, and practical to squeeze when the product is running low. What many people fail to understand is that this is not an emulsified formula and requires shaking before use to evenly distribute the ingredients. For reference, I have fair-light skin with a neutral olive undertone, though I usually wear neutral shades due to the lack of olive options in most brands. There are only 21 shades, which is common for skin-tint-style products, but that doesn’t make it acceptable. We need more shades. The undertones are also poorly executed: there are many cool and neutral-warm options, very few true neutrals, and no olive shades at all. Brands need to do better—it’s 2026. Can we please be more inclusive of different skin tones and undertones? Shade matching experience: I had an extremely difficult time shade matching. Shade 1 (Fair Light – very fair light with neutral undertones) has the correct undertone but is too light. Shade 2 (Fair Light – neutral cool undertones) has the right depth but is too pink. Shade 3 (Fair Light – neutral warm undertones) is too orange and about half a shade too deep. There is also a huge and illogical gap in depth between shade 2 and shade 3. Shade 4 (Light – neutral undertones) has the correct undertone but is one to two shades too deep, though it will likely work for me in summer. Shade 5 (Light – neutral warm undertones) is similar in depth to shade 4 but leans more golden and orange. It’s worth noting that these shades are very flexible and sheer out significantly on the face compared to how they look in thick swatches. Current solution: My current perfect match is a 1:1 mix of shade 1 and shade 4, but it’s frustrating that I need multiple bottles of such an expensive product just to achieve a good match. My plan is to buy a blue colour corrector to mix into shade 3 so I can make better use of what I already own. Longevity: I typically wear this for 8–11 hours at a time, and the performance has not disappointed. It lasts exceptionally well without primers, heavy powders, or setting sprays. It sits beautifully on the skin and truly melts in, becoming one with it. It feels incredibly lightweight and comfortable, to the point where I often forget I’m wearing makeup and catch myself touching my face. Final thoughts: Overall, I believe this product is worth the price—but only if you can successfully shade match and use it consistently enough to benefit from the skincare claims. I think it will perform beautifully in summer and hot weather, while also supporting moisture and elasticity during colder, drier months. Alternative recommendation: If you’re looking for an alternative, there is only one product I would personally recommend and use religiously: the Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint. It is a very hydrating skin tint that feels lightweight on the face and performs excellently over 8–10 hours of wear. It also contains ingredients that soothe, smooth, and strengthen the skin while promoting hydration. The coverage is noticeably lighter than the Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader The Foundation Drops, but the shade range—while similar in size at 20 shades—is far superior in undertone variety, including neutral, neutral red, cool, rosy, golden, olive, cool olive, and warm olive. Flaired discussion as I really want to find a way to make it work. Bought I Need A Nude and was superrrrrr excited for it to come, i paid full price and also international shipping 😢 I’m really struggling with the formula. I own other high end palettes (vieve) and they work like a DREAM. I emailed their customer support and they do not offer international returns however made an exception for me providing I pay return shipping which I don’t really think is worth it. Theyre all so… sheer? I am PALE like nars Siberia pale and I’m really struggling to get any depth with these shadows. The darkest shade, silhouette, looks like straight up mud dust from the side of the road. I need to pack and layer it like crazy and it still doesnt show up as it does in the pan. They all swatch okay enough but look like absolutely nothing on the eye. And they dont pick up with my brush! I do prime and a light layer of concealer. I think the worst is that they don’t layer over each other at all. If i pat shade fair across my lid then nothing else will sit on it, just look like a pale smudge. The glitters swatch beautifully but are difficult to get on my eye even with a finger. Everything is basically skin toned for me which is crazy. Anyone else had this? Everyone has been requesting me to make this foundation whenever I reviewed other foundation lol so here u go guys a complete in-depth review . Shade Review - have the Shade 240w which is for light-medium skintone with warm undertone . I have light skin with a yellowish greenish undertone, basically warm olive undertone I believe so its quite hard to find foundation shade bcos even if company touches olive skin tone they are either for fair olives or medium olives and mostly neutral olives. Most of the neutral olive shades looks peachy on me. So i either for warm shades or yellow undertone foundation. Lancome 240w although describes as warm has this greenish olivy undertone to it… its muted shade so im pretty sure lots of light medium people will love this shade . This foundation does oxidises but become warmer according to me. Its abit deeper for me as u will see in the pics and even goes deeper at the end of the day . So keep in my mind this foundation does oxidises like 2shades deeper. Application and Finish : this Foundation applies genuinely smoothly and its a very liquidy foundation almost serum like. Super blender and this foundation can be applied with any tool …sponge, brush or hands and even when u apply with sponge it doesn’t stick to dry patches it glides on smoothly and its a beautiful foundation ngl. It has medium to full buildable coverage . It has a natural finish or like semi matte so any skintype can use it. This foundation when applied it starts off wet and dries down to semi matte so u wont have any problem applying products on top. Lasting Power : I would say if u have oily skin , the oils will definitely start peaking through after 4 hours and ur face looks definitely oily and oxidised after 8 hours . according to me it doesn’t last that long and specially for me i have oily to combo skin currently i have combo so my tzones are super oily and the side of my cheeks are normal. so if are super oily u either need to up ur game for long lasting base routine like good oily controlling primer , setting spray , fixing spray etc. but then why spend alot when u can use a drugstore foundation which performs similar, according to me this foundation performs like a drugstore foundation and according to me the dupe is either loreal infallible freshwear or maybelline lumi matte . very similar formula and liquidy texture. Its really good for everyday wear but are we really gonna spend that much for everyday wear so yeah , its a great foundation but u can get the same experience from drugstore thats all I’m saying maybe the only up side is they have better shade range then drugstore. If u have normal to dry , it might suit you n will work great for u. hello beautiful people! Thank you to the people who interacted with me on my last post here - it was helpful to know what all you wanted me to look out for! I will try to address the questions that were raised in the last post. Hope this helps you make an informed choice. TESTING CONDITIONS every fair test needs to expand upon its testing conditions. Here's what I was working with - medium-neutral olive skintone. closest foundation match: estee lauder double wear in cashew oily-combination skin. heavy acne scarring. weather: cloudy, cool, not very muggy or humid, plenty of sun. no primer. my regular primer is the danessa myricks yummy skin blurring balm, because its the only product that can control my oil production. Yes, I am that oily. But I thought it will be a good idea to test the product without a primer. why? for three reasons. average consumer doesn't wear primer in their day to day ideally, a skin tint shouldn't need a primer. i wanted to see how the product would perform against my oily skin without the help of danessa. I applied the product using my fingers as well as a makeup brush. SKIN TINT OR FOUNDATION? the formula doesn't quite know what it wants to do on the packaging that i received, the product is named "super serum skin tint" whereas on the website, it is called the face card serum foundation. this inconsistency is the cornerstone of this product. it doesn't know whether it wants to be a skin tint or a foundation. to be clear, the product is more foundation than skin tint. it's thick and goopy (and it gets everywhere!!) and when it goes on the skin, it lays down very much like an oily, heavy foundation. This isn't a negative thing, necessarily - but I fear for those of us who wanted rare beauty at fae beauty prices will have to keep looking. Full disclosure, I expected a skin tint and am on the hunt for a skin TINT. I have plenty of foundations and don't really need another one. THE SERUM PROBLEM - DO WE REALLY NEED MORE NIACINAMIDE? I'm copying this directly from the fae beauty website. this is what their marketing material claims Niacinamide (0.5%) - Brightens, refines pores, strengthens barrier Kakadu Plum (2%) - Contains the highest recorded natural concentration of Vitamin C - up to 100x more than an orange. To Brighten dull skin and boost radiance. Fade dark spots & acne pigmentation. Liquorice Extract (0.2%) - To calm inflammation and redness. Moringa Oil (0.5%) - Nourishes & protects against pollution Amino Acids (0.5%) - Help maintain hydration & skin resilience Hybrid SPF system - SPF 15 - Protects from sun damage I have a huge problem with niacinamide and other heavy hitter actives being in makeup products, because they don't suit everybody. The other major issue is, the actives present in this formulation are too little to actually have any benefit. you're never going to put enough skin tint on your face to have the full effect of niacinamide. and 2% vitamin C... give me a break? 2% is nothing. so what we have here is all these actives getting wasted in the formula, because they're too little to have tangible benefits. but at the same time, they are present and may cause allergic reactions to skin types that are more sensitive. This is a big problem with the sciencification of makeup. In order to make up for past wrongs, we have pivoted too hard in the other direction. We're putting niacinamide in everything, and it really needs to fucking stop. UPON IMMEDIATELY APPLYING... I noticed that it goes on incredibly oily. like, very oily. I wonder if the moringa oil is doing overtime here or if there's some other ingredients here that that is a heavy hitter. I am not a cosmetic chemist, so maybe someone else can weigh in. From what I can tell, in their effort to make the product look dewy, they have added some heavy hitter silicone products, in addition to the kakadu plum oil and the moringa oil. My first application, it was a little disconcerting to have a product this oily on my face. I thought I was applying it wrong, because the excess oil made it difficult to see if I'd blended the product properly. After going in with my hands, I also went in with a dense foundation brush to blend it. Didn't help. I decided to let the product dry on my face, before going in with the rest of my products. IT TOOK ONE HOUR FOR THE FOUNDATION TO DRY DOWN, the oiliness of the product began to settle. Just to give it an additional boost - I topped it with some huda beauty powder (shade kunafa) in the more oily areas of my face. After the powdering, it started looking more skin-like and dewy rather than just oily. If you do buy this product and plan to use it, i would recommend starting your makeup atleast two hours before you are to go somewhere, because even with my oiliness, it took the foundation quite a bit of time to truly settle into my skin. After my hour, I put some products on top. mac gingerly blush milk makeup contour nars soft matte concealer + estee lauder double wear concealer nyx i know that's bright palette. milani make it last dewy setting spray huda beauty easy bake powder MAC glossy liner - root for me MAC lustreglass alone time MAC kajal CLIO long curling mascara the products settled well and didn't pill or react immediately. I'm a little shy about putting my face on reddit but my makeup looked fly as heck (my girlfriends said so!). other than the milk contour, I would recommend all these products. anyway, back to the review. DID IT OXIDISE? yes. here i took the two photographs against the same window, and roughly the same angle. today, in my city, the weather has fluctuated and sunlight has been more or less steady. if you notice the two photos, it kind of looks like I've had a slightly bad tan in the second pic. does it look terrible? no. i went out and it was fine. not oompa loompa orange. but while purchasing, I would probably buy one shade below. of course, this is slightly difficult for me because the shade directly below my shade 31N, is 30N which has a "peach undertone". Most decidedly, peach is not my undertone. I'll just save money and go for rare beauty. DID IT PILL? no. here there was no pilling, caking or flaking. in fact, it blended most beautifully with my other products, to give a really nice glow. you'll notice under my eye, there's a slight fading and feathering. it looks like it is clinging to the dryness, but that's because i have run out of eyecream and my undereyes were crusty as hell. overall, as far as pilling goes, it has performed well given i didn't put any primer. IS IT TRANSFER PROOF? yes, somewhat. after it is on the face, there's slight transfer before it dries. but once its dry its pretty much not moving from your face. WHAT TYPE OF SKIN WILL IT SUIT? if you are someone who dislikes the oily feeling, it will not suit you. it may be best suited for dry skin, but to be very fair I didn't notice any substantial issues on my oily combi skin. I will say, if you have sensitive skin, its best to avoid because of the heavy hitter actives, the oils and the pore clogging silicones. DID IT COVER ACNE SCARRING? ohohoho, here's my time to shine. if there's any type of acne scarring out there in the world, I most likely have it. you can check out the pics I've put above, and judge for yourselves. Here are my thoughts - it wont cover the icepick, boxcar and rolling scars. it will cover some hyper-pigmentation and marks. think of it as your average medium-low coverage foundation. you can use it to even out the skin, not necessarily cover. use your colour correctors. HOW LONG DID IT LAST? It's about 75% gone from my skin after a good 4.5 hours. I actually don't like long wearing products, and to be fair - I did not use primer. I suppose with primer it would have lasted full 8 hours as they claim, though that's hard to say. I am super oily, haha. So, not a minus for me. OTHER SKIN TINTS? since this is a foundation, I think its unfair to compare it to the house of makeup skin tint - which is the only other skin tint that is being created by an indian brand. however, I will say - the house of makeup one is a true-blue skin tint. its a runny, beautiful formulation that sits very well on the skin. If you can find your shade in the house of makeup skin tint - go for that one. why i say "find your shade" ?- because you may find it difficult to. their medium m10 is NEON ORANGE on me. they have completely fucked up undertones. difficult to figure out which shade to buy using their website images. however, i have dear friends who have found their shades and are VERY HAPPY with the product. I'm just unlucky. such is life. SPEAKING OF UNDERTONES... I truly don't think the fae team understands undertones. They have marketed their shades as "olive" and "warm" and "cool" but I found it highly strange that no matter what I put, it all seemed orange on me. for reference, I tried shades in the medium skin range (40N, 30N, 31N, 41O, 42N, 32W) - i don't have images, but frankly don't think I need them either. just go on the website and observe their own images. the neutrals are very orange. the warms are even more orange. the cool will likely be peach. if you want to understand what olive foundations should look like, look no further than about face beauty - which i consider the gold standard for actually olive foundations. the difference will astound you. this isn't to shit on fae, atleast they're mentioning olive. but, be warned. you may need blue color corrector. LA Girl has a good one. FINAL THOUGHTS good marketing, terrible execution. I am more forgiving of FAE than I am of other brands, because I do think their brand ethos is very clever. they identified a gap in the market and are now having a lot of fun in it. I do wish the marketing would be backed up by solid products. unfortunately this hasn't been the case for the foundation. I am not a fae hater. I like the lip whip and the brown kajal. but the products have been inconsistent across the board. The lip liner fades after 20 minutes, lets not even talk about the gloss. Unfortunately for me, the foundation is another miss. Given the oiliness, the work it took to make it work for me (one hour wait is far too much) and the oxidation, I don't know if I am willing to spend 1000 rupees on the product. I liked that you could even out the product on the cushion on the flap(?) of the cushion before applying it to the face. But I think dipping my finger into the cushion, swiping on my face, and blending it out with the sponge was equally as good I’ve tried this cushion like 7 times and tried to love it, but realised that whenever I did, a new pimple would come up. I contemplated whether it’s bc my skin is just not suitable for makeup, but I didn’t have this issue with my previous cushion from Clio. Right now I have a huge, inflamed and painful pimple that has been on my face for two weeks that came up after I used the cushion and it’s really demoralising bc nothing I do is helping it :”) Up to now I’m not sure what the issue is but I’m putting this cushion away and probably never touching it again. Hey lovelies thought to do a little foundation review because I’ve tried many many products to find something that works for me😭 Also i have a little shopping addiction My skin type- 23F with very oily and sensitive skin. Little bit of acne and scars too🎀 Also I’m a very sweaty human being My requirements- I’ve always been in search of products that are extremely long lasting and don’t melt away. As a healthcare girlie i need them to last atleast 12-13 hours🎀 My shade- Haven’t tried mac but according to my other good shade matches I’m a nc10 or nc15. So let’s start🥰 Mars bb cream in shade 1- Too little coverage for my preference. Is basically a moisturiser😭 Bad shade match and shade range like mars instead of launching so many products with trash shade range please launch one good product with like 20-30 shades atleast. Lasting power was also mehh. Used once or twice and then tried to declutter it but then just gave it away to my bestie🎀 Rating-0/10 Wet n wild tinted moisturiser in shade fair- Again very bad shade range. Didn’t match me well. The formula on the other hand is chef’s kiss though😭 willing to give it another chance if i ever find my shade. If you can get past the weird smell(it doesn’t linger) and find a shade it’s a pretty good product. It lasted like 6 hours without a primer and setting spray . Didn’t make me too oily or sweaty though Rating-6.5/10 Maybelline lumi matte in 115- the shade was pretty okay when applied but oh man the oxidation😭 also felt like the coverage wasn’t it for me. Also can’t comment on the longevity because I didn’t try it for that long and was disappointed with the oxidation and coverage. Rating-1/10 Maybelline fit me in 115- again oxidised and also the wear wasn’t impressive to me. Started melting and cracking off my face pretty early. The lasting power wasn’t impressive either and felt heavy. Gave it away too Rating-0/10 Loreal freshwear foundation in 145- i bought a very wrong shade and it oxidised terribly too. Returned it immediately. The formula was lightweight though and the application was pretty good too, good coverage . Willing to give it another chance if i find a good shade match(the new shade 120 is giving me hope) Rating-4/10 for now Mars high coverage foundation in shade 1- I can work with this shade even though it’s not perfect. Coverage is amazing though and the formula is thick. Oxidises one shade darker. Feels a bit heavy on the skin so don’t reach out for it often. Very matte. Just trying to finish it and never buying it again. The lasting power is like 5-6 hours and it does make me sweat but again i never tried it with primer or setting spray i think it can stretch a bit more with those. It’s an okayish budget full coverage foundation Rating-4/10 Sunnies face multistick in shades seashell and ecru- got these long back and i love them for some reason😭 they’re very creamy and easily blendable. Shade match isn’t the best but for the formula i can look past those. Skin tint like coverage and natural finish. Lasts 5-6 hours on me without primer and setting spray. I use them if i have quick errands to run. Very lightweight and breathable. Will buy these again if a non scammy platform sells them🥰 Rating-6.5/10 Elf soft glam satin foundation in 12 fair warm- good shade match but my experience with this is the worst. Doesn’t last at all. Disappears and melts off with sweat pretty quickly, settles in lines and very patchy, enhances texture,medium coverage, rubs off the face if you touch it, just a big no😭 (we boycotting elf anyways🥳) struggling to finish it it’s a disaster for oily skin( i have a little hack in the end though) Rating- negative 3/10 Huda beauty easy blur in 110N angel food- very mediocre foundation. I had really high hopes from this🥲 shade match is amazing though and doesn’t oxidise. Formula is lightweight and coverage is medium buildable. Can pass off as a skin tint if little quantity is used. Hardly lasts 4-5 hours though and also melts off the face in non ac heavy work conditions. Rubs off slightly when touched. As much as i love huda, just not worth the price at all. Slightly better with primer but haven’t tried it with setting spray or powder Rating-3/10 It gets better now i promise🥰 Unleashia babe skin blue cushion in shade 17c seraphic- only bought this for the super pretty packaging from maccaron when it was on sale but ngl I’m pretty impressed by it. Shade is very fair skin friendly and doesn’t oxidise, there should be more shades available though especially for deeper skin tones. Coverage is medium but easily buildable to full and it looks amazing either way. Finish is matte on me but if i use lots of skincare it can look glowy too. Don’t use primer or setting spray with it. Lasts a good 8-9 hours without these and fades beautifully too. Pretty decent at controlling oils I don’t sweat that easy wearing it. Overall quite satisfied with this. I don’t like its cushion puff tho😭 Rating-7.5/10 Clio kill cover founwear foundation in shade 2 lingerie- shade range available is horrible but this shade does work for me. This is my second bottle of this foundation. Used this quite a lot. Amazing coverage, matte finish, controls oil well for a good 4-5 hours, lasts 10-11 hours without primer and setting spray, fades beautifully and doesn’t get patchy. Overall a very pretty foundation Rating- 8/10 Loreal infallible tinted serum- Loved this so so much, very natural skin like finish and sheer to buildable medium coverage. Looks very pretty on. Also just feels like a serum. Shade range is terrible(are we even suprised at this point😭) lasts a good 6-7 hours without primer and setting spray and does hold on in humid weather. I want to buy this again. My only issue was i ran out of it pretty quickly like within a month😭 an amazing choice for running little errands Rating- 7.5/10 And now time for my holy trinity 🎀 Missha bb cream in shade 13- they should release more shades but oh boy do i love this😭 checks all my boxes pretty well. Lasts 10 hours easily on most days without primer and setting spray. Doesn’t melt off with sweat. Matte finish, medium coverage, no oxidation, feels like nothing on skin. Not much mask transfer. Have worn this in the gym too. Overall a pretty good everyday bb cream. This is probably my third or fourth tube of this and the added spf is an amazing advantage too. Just slap it on and step out🥳 Rating- 9/10 Tirtir mask fit red cushion in 13c- Holy grail. Amazing shade range. Got this at a good price from macaroni last year in October. One thing i was scared of was that I’ll run out of it pretty quickly coz i read reviews that cushion foundations run out pretty quickly but it’s far from running out even after so long. It’s matte and full coverage but i can sheer out the coverage with very tiny amount and right technique. Very blurring and amazing finish. Lasts 12 hours easily on most days I’ve also tried it in the gym. Controls oil and sweat very well. Fades beautifully too. I don’t even need to use primer and spray with it it’s just so good. Will definitely repurchase. Also it doesn’t oxidise on me. No mask transfer truly as I’ve tried it in ot. Although when i use lots of serums there’s a little mask mark on the face but it’s very faint and not too noticeable unless someone looks very closely. It’s also very convenient and the puff of this is amazing I don’t ever wanna throw out the puff😭 wish i had it in a bigger size though so i just smack it on my face once and tada done🥰 An amazing foundation for the price point, totally worth the hype, withstands humidity pretty well(even during rains) and lasts pretty well. Hi guys! *For title it should be Lasers/Skincare/Beauty Hacks *I have tan skin so lasers are a bit complicated due to risk of hyperpigmentation I.e. IPL not mentioned DISCLAIMER: PLEASE double check this with the science, before/afters, own skin and goals, and research articles. I'm not a dermatologist but a majority of my friend circle are physicians and we all do this anyhow before trying anything. I don't have time to cite articles etc and this is just MY experience SO I thought after spending so much money and buying all the overhyped products I should share what worked for me to reduce my skincare regimen and allow me to be makeup free for work. So I've been deep into skincare for a long time and I wanted to officially share it as a lot of my friends asked me to. We don't gatekeep here and I thought Reddit would be the best place. My background: I'm into digital portraits and it requires an understanding of good ratios of the face. I'm also into deep diving into skincare hacks like all of us. Here's what I think works off the top of my head. Procedures Ultraclear + Coring: forget ponytail facelifts, lip lifts, belphs, skinpinch, brow lifts, etc until you try this first. A good tech can get you the results you want. Ask to core where you want max lift. Make sure they pass with all the levels. It's painful so use your own numbing cream (I think some Russian brands are stronger available online), numb for a long time, and opt for the laughing gas or whatever. Make sure to have them use eye shields for your eyes. Have them core in the direction of the lift you want. Ask for a map of how they did it. You'll want 2-3 over a year to get the full lift you want. Nothing supersedes this procedure. For healing: 10% vinegar soaks + ointment + Benev exosomes + Alastin skin nectar. Hydroquinone to prevent spots from forming. Moxi Level 3: It works REALLY well but it's a baby compared to Ultraclear. Make sure to try level 3 for maximum lift. You can do a series of 3 if you're not ready for Ultraclear. Fontana 4D: It also works REALLY well and can contour your cheeks skin the buccal fat removal. Moxi Level3/Fontana 4D def made me hot again after 20lb weight loss causing signs of aging before my wedding. Again do a series of 3 for max results. Ultraclear did the most though, I would do all 3 until I die or go broke. BBL Laser: It works and makes you look like you have foundation on (and gets rid of under eye darkness) but because of techs fears of hyperpigmentation (a real fear) it's hard to find someone to do it. PRF/EZGEL: My under eyes looked better but also the swelling stretched out the skin so it also looks worse? Not worth it. PRF or PRP is useless, the gel is the only thing worth trying. Laser Hair Removal: Make sure they are using the newest machine that is practically painless, find a center that does a full body membership it's cheaper, you'll need 8-12 sessions. The painless one is worth it just get it done all over at Morpheus: painful and melts fat stay away. I did it 3 times, it got rid of my beautiful under eye fat pads, it slimmed my buccal fat, and it got rid of some acne though. It's not worth it due to pain and fat melting and lack of skin tightness effects it so claims. Katalyst EMS Suit >> Emsculpt: They cost the same and both work but you can keep Katalyst for life. Just use settings on abs/butt and get up to level 400, you can thank me later! I had Emsculpt 5X on butt and AB's, it works temporary, now we own. 2 Katalyst suits and they make sure fit whenever we want and honestly just as fast. Emsella: Amazing for sex drive and preventing or helping with prolapse issues! Also works for urinary issues post kids :). Do 6 sessions for prevention and amazing sex. Coolsculpt: Bullshit. Can burn skin btw. HIFU: Melts fat. But it works:) so use in the right areas. J Plasma: feels like lightening bolts attacking skin and limited outcome, stay away. PDO Threads: Forget it, painful, invasive, temporary. Omnilux Redlight Mask: Get the MENS version. It works. Jovs: it breaks apparently l but I'm gonna try it and update yall later. Also curious about Amiro devices given what they say they do/tech they use. ZIIP Halo + Silver Gel >Nuface: It works better than all the other main home microcurrent devices I've tried (nuface, medicube, 2 others on amazon) get the silver serum as daily easy skincare. Forget the other ones. Things on my list: Sofwave, Emface (per reviews sounds useless?), Syllifirm, Profound, comment and lmk I'll try it if it sounds safe and effective. Injections: Botox: Prevent wrinkles (but tbh this is BS until you have a baby line forming), get rid of wrinkles, shrinks muscle. What I've liked: TMJ/Jaw Slimming (30-50U per side), TRAP TOX (amazing and makes your neck longer), LIP FLIP, NOSE TIP, BROW LIFT (only do the tail of the brow not the whole brow) and PLATYSMA (prevents face sagging and actually works, prob the most underrated and important area for Botox!). Filler: Deep Lasers ("lift" = volume) >> Sculptra (natural body makes volume) >> Slow Down on Fillers >> Injector >> Price/Injectable. Fly to the right person LA, Miami, or New York. Make sure the area they inject, they do often. Treat multiple areas BUT WITH 1/3 THE ACTUAL DOSE you want and go again twice. This prevents the botched look. Dissolve overfilled lips, it hurts, but it's worth it. ALA/Glutathione/Vit C: Shrinks pores and evens out skin tone. Make sure to add ALA for max pore shrinking. It also helps regulate sugar. You can also opt for liposomal. Go to a reputable IV center and make sure to have labs to get ALA. Peels/SkinCare: 30%+ Glycolic Acid On Body - Fast way to clear scars and evens out skin tone. I use supergoop clear sun stick because I'm lazy and it's a stick and doesn't have white caste. I'm sure there's better ones but this is the best clear stick I found. The powder makeup ones are BS and don't actually protect you. A HAT + Long Sleeves >> Weight Loss: I have a chubby face if my BMI is above 19 genetically. Find the BMI you need for optimizing your face. I drink all my water before eating. I drink black decaf with monk fruit (stevia is not as safe, Splenda is bad news) instead of lattes. I put all my food on a salad instead of rice. I don't eat grain carbs because it makes me bloated. I eat spinach daily because it has highest potassium (reduces face bloating). I try to have have less than 1.5G salt daily. I also make sure there is IODINE in my salt for my thyroid (pink salt is causing iodine deficiencies and thus thyroid issues!). No dairy because it gives me acne (try cashew milk 25 cal). I hit 100G protein via NATURAL NO POWDER sources. Then I sleep by getting my fat intake (50g) and veggies cooked with seasoning I like or whatever I want to eat (kind of a baby Intermittant fast but more lax). If I'm craving sweets I eat frozen fruit and add fake honey (monk fruit sweetened avail sprouts). If you made it this far, the most important thing is to be at a healthy weight, eat right, drink water, no alcohol (I've heard from friends: Passion flower extract "anxiety" > IV NAD (addiction)), no smoking(I've heard from friends: Chantix > Wellbutrin> Nicotine Patch > Tapering Nicotine Vape ), no all nighters (if insomnia look above TDCS headband elemind > Calm Sleep Powder > Sublingual Melatonin). I also do not have a signifficant online presence so I'm doing this in hopes of answering some questions for those who have them. For context, I've had nasty hormonal breakouts for years and they left some visible hyperpigmentation and texturing on my face that I just could not get rid of. I also have sensitive skin so retinols and vitamin c were out of the question, they made my face worse. Long story short: I love this stuff. I've been using it for around 3-4 weeks and I'm noticing a signifficant difference in my skin texture and discoloration. I never expect a product to actually work within 2 weeks (as many of them claim). Normally it takes the skin about 30 days to get used to and start reacting to a product so that's my benchmark regardless of what the product claims. I can say that this product meets the benchmark (and even exceeds a bit). I started noticing some real differences in my skin about a week or 2 ago so that really gives a window of about 2-3 weeks for the product to be effective which i was very surprised about. I use it in the morning right after washing and drying my face without applying toner beforehand and I recommend using it this way. It penetrates the skin better and has a higher chance of acting accordingly. Effects i've noticed: significant reduction in hyperpigmentation from acne scarring, reduction in texture from acne scarring, pore minimization, skin tightening, glowy skin. I've tried a bunch of serums for hyperpigmentation before this one and, at worst, they destroyed my skin barrier and broke me out or, at best, did nothing. This has honestly been a god sent and I fully recommend the product. It hasn't reacted badly with any of the products I use (granted I have a very minimal routine) and it hasn't irritated my face at all. Some things to keep in mind: this has 10% niacinamide and 4% tranexamic acid so it might be irritating to some skin types that are more sensitive. Niacinamide is recommended in percentages of around 5% to be effective so this might a bit much for some. It also contains 2% Arbutin which inhibits the enzyme necessary for melaning production which essentially means that it actively whitens your skin. I noticed this when i had to stop using my summer shade of foundation AFTER i started using this serum. I tan extremely easily and i get very dark. My tan also lasts around 7-8 months, but now i had to start using my winter shade in november when normally i could start using it around January or so. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just another thing i noticed with this product. I picked up the new Patrick Ta foundation and wanted to let you all know what I thought! For the record, I'm 40 years old and have combo/oily skin. I have pictures with no makeup, just the foundation (and primer) and full face, both right after application and about 12 hours later. For the wear test, I worked a 7 hour shift at Sephora, then continued to wear the foundation at home. I blew my nose, I ate, and I didn't touch up with powder (although I normally would use powder at least one during the day). My thoughts: it's pretty. It's fairly sheer coverage (I think I managed to build it to about a light-medium coverage, using a brush to apply it). It's also very glowy. As you can see, my oils broke through by the end of the day, although I will say that the makeup didn't really break up. Should you buy this? If you're very dry, you like sheer, glowy coverage, and you have the budget, you could do worse than this foundation. It's got a lovely finish and actually wore well for a glowy foundation. However, for anyone with normal or oily skin or who wants more coverage - I would avoid this. I'll put in a plug for the new Fenty foundation if you're in the market for a new foundation. It's really beautiful and lasts a long time on my skin. Guys, I promise this will be my last post about the AF foundation!! 😆 But since I've gotten a lot of questions about the formula and shades, and finally gotten to test it out over a more extended period of time (and snapped some full face photos!), I wanted to share my plethora of thoughts in one place! Formula/Finish: This is definitely a sheer foundation, with a super lightweight, serum-y feel. I love that I can easily apply thin layers without it feeling heavy or cakey, and it wears well throughout the day too (I'm wearing two layers in each of my photos but could easily add a third for more coverage). Finish is very skin-like and natural, not too dewy or too matte. Longevity: I have super oily skin that breaks down foundation like Pac-man eating cookies. With occasional blotting, I can get about 6-7 hours of good wear from the About Face foundation before it starts fading around my oily spots (forehead, around the nose, and chin). 6-7 hours is phenomenal for oily little me! I also find that the fading is gradual and natural-looking, and not patchy like a lot of heavier foundations. I have no doubt that this foundation would easily last the advertised 12 hours on a more normal skin type. Olive Shades: I tried L2 (light olive) and LM2 (light medium olive), and I got the best results by mixing the two shades. L2 by itself is a bit too light and yellow, while LM2 by itself is a bit too tan/orange and dark - however, due to the sheerness of the formula, neither looked outright wrong or bad on my face, especially with just one or two layers applied. If I had to choose just one of them, I'd choose the L2 (though I might favor the LM2 more once summer comes). Packaging: I personally love the doe foot applicator! Makes it super easy to apply dots directly to the face and to mix shades without having to use a separate palette or the back of your hand. I also find it much less messy than a pump. Price/Value: Such a steal for $22, especially for a celebrity-backed brand! Overall, I really love this foundation, and it's replaced my Haus Labs 190 as the go-to foundation that I reach for on a daily basis. While I'll still be using my Haus Labs for special events or days when I need a more flawless look or more opaque coverage, I find the About Face foundation to be absolutely perfect for every day, minimal, or "no makeup" makeup looks! However, since people in my life know my main account, I have decided to delete it in accordance to Part 1; Chapter 1: Don't tell anyone. That being said, I still wanted to help out as many of my friends here that I can, so I'm uploading this again on my alternative account. In the process, I have taken all of the feedback that I received in the first post, and have created the ultimate compilation of DD resources for your new financial life as a Millionaire. I hope this helps out my brothers and sisters here! ​ So, you did it. You did your due diligence, you did the math, you summoned your courage to press that 'Buy' button, and now those stocks and options have granted you a title you only dreamed of having. "Millionaire". Congratulations! You beat the odds that so many before you have failed to overcome. You played the game, and came out on top. Your thoughts are racing as you realize all that you can do with this newfound wealth. Now it's time to buy that house you always dreamed of, or that car you always wanted to drive, right? And now I can go on that luxury vacation to that resort I always wanted to go to! But, slowly, there may be this other feeling that washes over you. Fear. Slowly, you feel a wrinkle form on your brain, as you begin to realize how big of a responsibility this truly is, and how unique of an opportunity this is. You know that you may only have this shot once, and don't want to screw it up. Well, if this community has shown us anything over these past 4 months or so, it's that knowledge is power! So fear not, my friends! For in the paragraphs ahead lie your survival guide for the next 6 months! ​ "What do you mean, a 'survival guide'?" This guide will be broken into 3 parts. The first section contains life advice as for how to socially, and mentally handle these unprecedented funds. The second part does not contain financial advice, but rather the resources to do your own research, and figure out a financial plan that would benefit you the most. The reason being is that it would be irresponsible for me to tell you what to do with your money. Beyond that, every person here has a different story. Some folks may have a partner and 3 kids, while others my still be living at home. Instead, I would like to give you all the tools to build a successful life using these new funds. The third section goes over where to go from here now that you've built a solid foundation. ​ "Ok, I understand what's in this guide, but why now? Why not after a squeeze?" Great question! I considered posting it after a squeeze on a particular stock, but I realized that some everyday folks have already won big on well placed call options. If I can give at least one person pause to reflect, and help someone avoid making a huge mistake with their windfall...that would be enough. I'm by no means an expert, I'm just trying to look out for the people here. So, without further ado, let us begin. ----- Part 1 - Social and Emotional Survival Chapter 1 Protecting it from everyone else ​ DON'T TELL ANYBODY. If there is one thing you take away from this, let it be this. So let me repeat that... DON'T. TELL. ANYONE. This is going to be your most well kept secret in your life. At least in the beginning. You will probably feel the urge to tell your friends, and your family, but doing this WILL ruin your life. Why? Well, first, people are going to find it harder to relate to you. Snide remarks such as, “look at Moneybags over here”, “must be nice”, or “remember the little guy”, may weed their ways into the conversations people have with you. You’ll see your relationships slowly change as people no longer relate to some of the things going on in your life. (Not everyone in your life is going to be worried about finding a tax advisor that specializes in the wealthy!) On top of that, they’re gonna smell money, and many of them may want a cut. They're gonna say they need that new device, or they need that new car, or they want to start this unusual business venture, or they need this or that. They'll bring up how far you go back. Suddenly, you'll see the very people who have been your friends, turn on you like vultures. They may think they have your best interests in mind, and they may not know the emotional and relationship damage they're causing, but they'll smell money, and they're gonna come asking. By that point, you’ve lost. You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. You may have to be the bad guy and say, “no”. And some of those relationships may quickly fall apart as you deny them. Or the alternative is that you're gonna bleed your money 'helping' everyone while they take advantage of you and indulge their overspending habits. There's also the concern of your safety. People who are lottery winners are found to be much more likely to be a victim of kidnapping, blackmail and murder. That's not to say you can't live an upper middle class lifestyle, but be careful with how flashy and open you are with your earnings. To put it differently, this isn't a question of who do you tell, because word spreads. Rather, this is a question of social survival. Do you want to maintain your relationship with your friends and family? Yes? Then keep it to yourself. Eventually, you may find people that you trust, and can let them in on the secret. But you can’t take back your words once you say them. Be very careful with who knows. Money talks, but wealth whispers. ​ Chapter 2 Protecting it from expenses ​ If you want this money to last more than 5 years, you're gonna want to treat it as if it wasn't there. "Wait, what? Then why do I have this money if I'm not gonna use it?!" You will use it. Just not as a sum of cash. If you have $1.8 million after taxes, you are not going to go out and buy a $1 million dollar house and a $200,000 Lamborghini. You'll only have $600,000 left! And while this may sound like a lot, it won't go nearly as far as you might think. Instead, you might want to turn to FIRE, or Financial Independence, Retire Early. There, you are going to use your newfound money as a source of income. I'll go over the details in Part 2; Chapter2, but for now, an easy equation for this is 4%. That's it. That's the equation. 4% of your net worth can be used yearly, while your money still sits in investments and accrues roughly 7% interest annually. This way you beat inflation, and you cover your expenses. So, to use our $1.8 million under the 4% rule, that's $72,000 you can spend annually, and in theory you will never run out of funds, while never working another day in your life if you don't want to. Or, if you enjoy what you're doing, you can add that to the equation as well. How you break it up is up to you, but you can very easily spend north of $100,000 a year, and still be in the green if you hold down a job. Meanwhile, let's check in on our $600,000. That's $24,000 a year you can spend for the rest of your life if you wanted to retire today. That's uncomfortably close to the poverty line. You're a millionaire. You don't deserve that. ​ Chapter 3 Protecting it from yourself ​ Yes. Yourself. As quickly as you made your money, you can easily lose it in the best 2 weeks of your life. So right now, emotions are probably high. You're beyond excited, you are itching to do something crazy with your money, and probably want to buy something, since you can't tell anyone per Chapter 1. But I implore, please don't buy anything right now. Yes, you read that right. Don't buy anything. If you need any proof on that, look up what happens to lottery winners. Roughly 35% of them go bankrupt within 10 years of winning! Rather, set the money aside for a while. You can determine this amount of time, but a good rule of thumb is 6 months. In those 6 months, it gives you plenty of time to calm yourself, collect your thoughts, and figure out an actual plan on how to wisely use that money. How you want to invest it, how much you want to use per year, and how much you owe in taxes. Yes. The dreaded, 't-word'. Taxes. You've gotta pay up. And during that planning process, you'll have to come to terms with what this money is going to do for your life. ----- Part 2 - Economic Survival Chapter 1 Taxes ​ Roughly 40% of earnings over $500K is going to go to the federal government. That's not even accounting for any state income taxes (which vary wildly from state to state). And before we continue, I will allow a moment for a collective "ouch" from everyone reading. That's a lot. I won't deny that. But as much as it sucks, you've gotta pay up. Because if you don't, the IRS can very, very easily take ALL of it. 100%. And they will, leaving you behind with nothing but lawyer and court fees, and no money to pay them. So please, please, please, make sure you pay the taxes my friends! With that said, since you are a millionaire, you have the resources to retain the services of a CPA who specializes in the wealthy and ultra-wealthy. And I would highly advise doing your research and getting the best one you can find, as otherwise you may be overpaying by the thousands! Also, in compliance with Chapter 1; Part 1, please do not go to a family friend, or even someone in your area. If you can travel (or in the case of COVID, WebEx/Zoom) to a CPA out of your area, even better! Find someone based on quality, not convenience! ​ Chapter 2 Debt ​ If you have any debt in your life, now would be the time to review that. Any high interest debt such as credit cards, car loans, personal loans, student loans, etc. I would advise paying off immediately. Otherwise, those interest rates will bleed you dry, and take away from your profits, and your attempt to be financially independent. Now, if you have a mortgage, this would be at your discretion. Some people advise paying off the house with the rest of the debt if you have the available capital to do so. This way it removes the last payment from your life. However, the alternative school of thought is that your money is going to earn more money in an investment than it will save in the interest when you pay the house off immediately. This again will be at your discretion. If you're planning on proceeding with FIRE (more details in Chapter 3), my personal recommendation would be to pay off the mortgage up front, so that you aren't putting a strain on your new income source. ​ Chapter 3 FIRE ​ FIRE, or Financial Independence Retire Early is a movement that has been gaining traction as of late, with the goal of making retirees out of 20-40 year olds. As mentioned above, the equation is simple. You take your net worth, and figure out what is 4% of it. So if you have $2 million dollars, 4% of that is $80,000. That means that you can live off $80,000 a year for the rest of your life without changing a thing, and be financially independent. Now, how exactly does this work? Well in the 90's, a man named Bill Bengen figured out that the worst case scenario for a rate of return from typical stock market investments year-over-year was 7%. So that means in theory, you can retire on your earnings and never touch the principle. Now, you can adjust this number as you see fit depending on your returns or any other streams of income, however for people trying to retire in their 20's, I would advise staying conservative with the 4% since this money needs to last you a lifetime. The other 3% is there to build the principle and protect it from inflation, which increases by 2%-3% annually. This would be the standard FIRE. However, there are 4 other types of FIRE: Lean FIRE - Living on less than you make, roughly $40,000 a year Fat FIRE - Living a retirement of luxury, roughly between $100,000-$120,000 (double the standard household income in your area) Barista FIRE - Using the same principles as above, but you are picking up a part time job or a gig job that you enjoy. This will supplement some of the money that you take out of your investments. Coast FIRE - This last version is similar to Barista FIRE, however you use the power of compound interest to become financially independent later. You continue to work now, while your investments grow in the background. You don't need to add another cent to retirement as they will grow in the markets, however you are not financially independent today. ​ Chapter 3 Investments ​ Before I proceed, this is once again, NOT financial advice. Now, with that disclaimer out of the way... I believe the smartest thing you can do would be to invest in appreciating assets, rather than buy depreciating assets such as cars. These come in many forms (which I will cover below), but what ties them together is that they are all a source of income. Your money on it's own isn't generating additional money. But you are also in a unique position of not having to work for your money. It's time to make your money work for you. Stock Market - One of the most common sources of passive income is the stock market. For the sake of your financial future, I would not put most of your portfolio into single stocks. While I'm not saying avoid single stocks all together, I wouldn't invest more than 10% of your net worth into them. Any more than that carries the risk of severely crippling your retirement portfolio. Boring ETF's, bonds and mutual funds may be a safer play. I am obligated to advise you to do your research before making any decisions on what to invest in. Real Estate - Another popular investment is Real Estate. This comes in may forms, from flipping houses, to becoming a real estate agent, or buying rental properties. The benefits to the real estate market is that you are left with something. A hedge fund isn't able to come along and short your house into the ground. Your house is yours. If the stock market crashes, or a company goes under, you're at a loss. It's easier to ride out the waves with real estate. With it though, comes more work. You are now a landlord, and have to mange the properties, and find new tenants as the old ones move out. It's not as passive of an income as the Stock Market. Businesses - "Small business is the backbone of our economy." While it seems to be every politicians catchphrase, they're not wrong. Small businesses are extremely important to the success of our nation, and you now have the capital to make your own. If you have something that you're really passionate about, I would fully endorse you going out and either buying a business, or building your own business for your passion from the ground up! However, this is much, much more work than the passive investments of the stock market. ----- Part 3 - What Comes Next? Chapter 1 Spending ​ Alright, so you've made it this far. Now, we're going to take all that we've learned, and form an action plan. First, the spending. Make sure you build a budget for your spending and track what leaves your accounts. Just because you're wealthy doesn't mean we can get sloppy! Remember, we're trying to keep you a millionaire! When it comes to spending, don't overextend yourself. If you want a life of financial independence, you will need to discipline yourself and stay within your means. This money has to last a lifetime after all! I would also advise that any further day trading that you do comes out of the annual funds available for spending (as calculated by the 4% rule). This way, if you make a risky options play, or a stock flounders, it won't hurt you long term! And remember, hold less than 10% of your net worth in single stocks! ​ Chapter 2 Building a cabinet ​ Now, if what I've said so far isn't resonating with you, and you would rather be walked through these major financial decisions, then I would advise assembling a committee that can help you through this. Whether you choose to rely on them for the short term as you get your feet wet, or the long term to ensure someone keeps you in check, will again be at your discretion. But before I proceed with my recommended positions for your financial committee, I will remind you that time is money. If you put the time in to learn the principles of personal finances, then it will save you a lot of money in the long term. That said, some people just want to set the money aside and forget about it, and that's ok too! For a fully staffed committee, I would recommend a financial advisor, a tax advisor/CPA, a real estate advisor (should you want to enter real estate), an attorney, and an insurance advisor. ​ Chapter 3 Giving ​ And now that you have a solid financial foundation to stand on, one that will be passed onto your kids, and possibly even your grandkids, we can begin to make the world a better place. You can now begin to give. Now, giving is a broad term in this sense. It can range anywhere from giving the valet a generous tip to park your shiny car, to donating $2500 to your local food bank just before Thanksgiving. But just like with spending, you want to make sure you don't overextend yourself. If you are a responsible steward with your money, you can ensure that you can help many more people for years to come. To do so, I would advise taking the money not out of your principle, but rather on your annually allotted funds. ​ Chapter 4 Sources for you to perform your own Due Diligence ​ In this chapter, I have included some good sources to begin your own due diligence. While I don't necessarily agree with everything that they all say, it's up to you to find what works best for you! How to survive winning the lottery - Reddit - An extremely detailed Reddit post describing how to survive winning the lottery. Graham Stephan - YouTube : Graham Stephan is a self-made millionaire who achieved financial independence in his 20's. A starter guide on how to survive your first few months as a new millionaire, written by someone who has never been a millionaire! But I have seen some people make some awful mistakes regarding money, and did my due diligence on what happens after someone gains a massive windfall. And I have a feeling that more than a handful of you might be seeing a windfall come your way in the near future... To close, they say money can't buy you happiness, but I'm often reminded of the scene from Captain America, where Steve is told, "The serum amplifies everything that is inside. So, good becomes great. Bad becomes worse." Money is only going to amplify how you want to live your life. If you're happy now, you'll be even happier. If you're snobby now, you'll become even snobbier. If you want to live generously, leaving anonymous gifts and donations, giving all you have away, you can do that. If you want to live egregiously expensive and live it up, over spending at every turn, you can also do that. But you will need to face the consequences of all those decisions. And if you, in your nature, default to one of these paths, but don't want to, it will take all the more effort to avoid it than if you didn't have this money at all. Oh who am I kidding. You're the apes on Wall Street! You will all be fine. Just be careful, my friends.
