RE:Bring magic cards go kl tio tax
PikaPika33 said: Be careful ah Even collectables like Pokémon cards, Magic: The Gathering, or sports cards fall under the "playing cards" category for customs purposes. And if the total value exceeds RM1,000, taxes apply: 10% import duty, 10% sales tax, and 10% excise duty.

Sports cards are starting to split into two camps - hobby vs market
https://preview.redd.it/mkdm81vls8sg1.png?width=2016&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd39c989dfb107d165bb5bf94bd5d6f35ea2a203 Feels like the hobby is splitting right now: Some people still treat cards purely as collectibles. Others are starting to look at them more like markets. When you track things like demand, liquidity, and supply, you start to see actual structure - not just “this player is hot,” but how the market is moving. Some are broad-based (real strength across the market) Some are high-momentum but fragile Some are already showing exhaustion Here’s a snapshot of what I’m seeing right now. Do you think looking at cards this way actually helps… or does it ruin the hobby? submitted by /u/Kaleidoscope_Sad to r/sportscards [link] [comments]

Got ADDICTED to buying into sports card breaks
This app is a trap; I'm 20 with 2 credit cards that got washed by Whatnot. Not really sure how if there is a way I can get some of my money back, but it has put me in a tough spot. Trying to get my sports card business off the ground but struggling with sales
As the title states I’m trying to start a little side business of selling sports cards. I’m starting out just trying to sell cards in my PC to gain some capital to get started. However, I’m really struggling with sales. The only cards I’ve been able to sell have been Drake Maye cards because he’s obviously such a big name. I know my listings are generally not of the most in-demand players but I was expecting relatively consistent sales due to what I believe is fair pricing, usage of past sales and “sell similar”, and I even invested in a light box for good pictures. Any pointers? In addition to the prices shown I allow offers and charge $1.32 for PAE. I get minimal views and very minimal watchers. Any help is greatly appreciated submitted by /u/Danvers182 to r/sportscards [link] [comments]

The purpose of sports cards
To whom It May concern, You will not get rich nor profit from reselling sports cards The purpose of cards is to have a piece, or a moment, of your favorite athlete.. somebody who dedicated their lives to the craft, and is able to perform at a level that 99.99% of the general public cannot To enjoy that relic, whether it be in current time, past time , or the future, alongside your favorite player, team, organization or group of people who share your love and hobby. Whether it's a jersey card, and autographed card, or even a base card that simply stood out to you Having a dedicated room Or dedicated space in your living area that culminates a feeling of nostalgia and or ties you together to the player or team you collect. They are collectibles.... Not gold coins.. NOW... In some instances, time is money And yes, you can profit, sometimes profit immensely, from reselling sports cards. But only those who have wicked luck, or hold their collection for TIME (TIME= MONEY, NOT LUCK) Everybody who HELD Cal Raleigh cards made money You will not find an autographed Riley card, Now.. unless you buy your luck Most of the time when you're seeing insane cards pulled on these forums, you don't realize that the people purchasing these cards has already spent five, 10, and even $20,000 chasing and said card. They run to Reddit to show off The spoils of the war, yet you don't even understand that every single comrade had to die on the battlefield in order for them to live said victory lol Buy boxes for the thrill and the rush, and the slight chance at having a piece that can monumentally change your life... But most likely, won't happen... Find other enjoyment with the cards that you're able to maintain, and for the love of god, learn that trading actually exists. Go to a card show, and learn how to trade up for cards that actually have value, that you actually can sell.. Learn what parallels are rare, how to tell between a variation rookie, and a non-variation.. how to tell card errors.. how to tell when a future player will have value, Actually watch the sports of the cards that you're collecting lol Many of the sports card shops that are around the corner from you have 25 to 100 cards that are worth 10 times the value that they're being sold for in the dollar boxes, but you will never know because you are trying to chase Cooper flaggs lol I found one of ones in dollar boxes because you people are chasing Cooper flagg lmao. I swear on my child's grave "I pulled this card, now what"? You don't even know what to do with it lmfao 🤣 You going to sell the card and buy more sealed wax? Lol Aight. 🤣 submitted by /u/TheHonestTruthH to r/Topps [link] [comments]

Sky Sports presenter Laura Woods reveals a Liverpool fan (Harneet Kaur) stalked her relentlessly: "For 3 years, she would go to extreme lengths to make my life very uncomfortable. There were birthday cards that would say: ‘Today’s the day you were born and tonight’s the night you’re going to die.’
"For three years, she would go to extreme lengths to make my life very uncomfortable. There were birthday cards that would say: ‘Today’s the day you were born and tonight’s the night you’re going to die.’ I would receive monthly funeral letters, because she had signed me up to these things. She sent the animal welfare team around about my dog. “She called the police and said she had seen me being dragged into my house by a man with a knife. "In 2023, I was in Poland, covering Oleksandr Usyk’s fight with Daniel Dubois, and she emailed me while I was on air. It was a video of my front door and a message, saying: ‘I know you’ve got three cameras in your house.’ I started going through all the video footage to see if anyone was in there. It was terrifying. It was every possible way you could conceive that she would try to get to me. Dating websites, spam websites, it was relentless – I couldn’t understand how one person could do it all. “There was a video she posted with a gun in America at a shooting range, and it was directed at me. It was just too much, and it changed the way I felt about London. I lived on my own with my dog, and I felt very exposed. I didn’t want to be there any longer. It spun me into quite a bad place. Suddenly I was extremely anxious and low.” submitted by /u/DavidRolands to r/soccer [link] [comments]

Sports cards on the decline?
Genuine question are sports cards on a decline? All these big breakers (with a few exceptions) that I follow are pushing Disney and SpongeBob hardcore and seem to be moving away from sports cards. Is it cause Disney and SpongeBob are hot right now? Is it cause this years NFL draft class was not great? Is it cause Topps basketball seems to be entering junk wax era? I see people posting sport cards from 1980's - 2000 for a dollar. Hundreds of them are listed. How are they actually making money? AITA for not giving my sports cards back to my dad after he found out how much they’re worth?
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/Appropriate-Skill-32 AITA for not giving my sports cards back to my dad after he found out how much they’re worth? Originally posted to r/AmItheAsshole TRIGGER WARNING: Harassment, entitlement BoRU 1 Posted by u/OhHowIMeantTo Original Post May 2, 2022 I (19M) was gifted my dad’s sports card collection for my 18th birthday. He had boxes of them from when he was growing up. I started looking into how you could get them graded. I finally shipped the best ones out a few months ago and just got them back last week. I was happy to see how highly some of them were graded. I researched what these cards would go for and my jaw dropped. This money would help me pay for college and I would still have a decent amount left over. I was visiting my parents and my dad mentioned something about those cards. I made the mistake of saying how much some of these cards are worth. He didn’t have much of a reaction that night. The next day, I get a long text from my dad saying that he gave it some thought and wanted his cards back. The money would help him and my mom pay for their dream vacation. I thought it was a joke, but he was serious. I told him sorry but they were a gift and I intended on using this money for college. Since then, I’ve been getting hurtful texts from my parents telling me how selfish I am. They said I’m an asshole for wanting to sell these cards because they were a gift. Even though they would do the same thing if I gave them back. I planned on getting my dad a cool gift for his birthday with some of my money, but I’m starting to think he doesn’t deserve anything at all. AITA? TL;DR: Was gifted sports cards by my dad. My dad found out how much they’re worth and wants them back. I don’t want to give them back. VERDICT: NOT THE ASSHOLE RELEVANT COMMENTS [deleted] Normally NTA - depends in this situation, have your parents been financially supporting you? EDIT: Not necessarily an asshole, but I’d be cautious. Creating a divide between you and your parents might not be worth it. Especially if they might help you out financially down the road. OOP They paid for a little under half of my first semester of college. Other than that, I support myself. [deleted] Were they going to continue to help with college? Because if yes they now have that money to “save up for their dream vacation” OOP I doubt it. They were pretty pissed at what school I chose. Might’ve been an excuse to get me to pay for my own college but idk. This situation kind of has me rethinking everything. ~ WHO_notmikejones NTA and i think its good to mention, if you know about sports cards and getting them graded right now, its not cheap. Last time i looked at Panini for grading it was $150 PER card. Just make sure you check comps before selling (don't let anyone rip you off), also PLEASE use Paypal for payments, they'll have your back if you get scammed; unfortunately theres a-lot of scamming in the card world. OOP Yup it is not cheap at all. That’s why it took me so long to send only my best ones out. ~ pnutbuttercup56 INFO Around how much are the cards going for? How is your relationship with your parents? Did you like sports? Trying to see if your dad was well meaning when he gave them to you. It's a gift he gave you and it's kind of a shitty to ask for it back now that it's worth it more than sentimental value. OOP The most expensive card usually sells for about $50k. My relationship with my parents is usually good but has gotten worse over the past year. They wanted me to go to a school closer to home but I didn’t (I’m still in-state). I love sports so I guess I would understand why they were upset if they weren’t planning on selling the cards for themselves. Update May 12, 2022 (10 days later) First of all, thanks to the majority of people saying I’m NTA. There were some ESH and a few YTA sprinkled in but thanks for the input. I didn’t want to lose my relationship with my parents over this, so I decided to compromise. My idea was to keep the cards and handle the sales myself. However, I would communicate each sale with my parents and come up with a fair split to pay for college and their vacation. I told my parents we could meet up on Monday and discuss this situation. Unfortunately, they continued to harass me over the days leading up to our talk. Apparently having to work on Mother’s Day was just an excuse by me to avoid talking to them about the cards. By the time we met, I was pretty tired of their shit. I could be the asshole for this but I decided to test them. I lied and told them they could have the cards if they paid me back the cost of getting them graded. When I told them the price, they didn’t believe me. I was accused of lying to get more money out of this. I realized it wasn’t worth proving it. They wanted everything and there was no compromise to be made. I told them not to contact me and that I’d only be around to see my brother and go to other family events. So that’s how it went. Glad they care more about the money than me! I’ve been trying to keep it together, but it’s been hard. Thankfully my girlfriend has been around to comfort me. She’s the best. Maybe I’ll use some of that extra money on a vacation for us. Haven’t heard anything from other family yet so I don’t know how this is all gonna play out. Guess all I can do now is work on getting these cards sold and hope for the best. TL;DR: Relationship with parents is basically over for now. I still have the cards. RELEVANT COMMENTS krinosh Split the money with your brother? Keep it in your name but earmark the proceeds for both your college educations? OOP I’ve definitely thought about doing that. He’s still a few years away from finishing high school, so maybe that will be a good graduation gift. NEW UPDATE * Update 2: AITA Sports card situation May 19, 2022 (7 days later) Hey, I know I have some followers on here and the posts were shared on r/bestofredditorupdates so I feel obligated to update lol. Thanks for all of the support. Earlier today, I had my first family party to go to since everything went down. I guess word kind of got around about what happened because I had some family ask me if I was alright over text. My parents were not at the party while I was there. Not sure if they showed up at all. Everything seems to be fine with the rest of my family. Nobody treated me any different. In my last post, people were telling me to save some money for my brother which was a great idea. I’ll have to do that in secret when he graduates. I’ve decided to do even more and start building a sports card collection of my own. I can pass that down to my own kids one day. I definitely feel better now that this hasn’t affected the relationship with the rest of my family. I’m excited to take some beach trips with my GF so I can relax this summer. Also looking forward to selling these cards. I promised a few of you to send pics of my cards so if you’re reading this, please remind me. This is probably my last update so thanks again for the support!
