Can't decide between Switch 2 and Steam Deck
I don't know which of the two consoles to buy. On the one hand, I like physical games. The feeling of owning them, collecting the boxes, and playing indie games, like I did with the original Switch. If I get a Switch 2, my original Switch games will still be playable on it; I have over 50 physical games. On the other hand, the Steam Deck has a much larger catalog, and I don't have to wait for the company to reach an agreement with Nintendo to release a port, but I'd miss out on Nintendo exclusives. Steam games would be very cheap in comparison. Both have similar power; I suppose the only factor making me hesitate is the issue of physical games and the fact that if Steam were to go bankrupt someday, there's no guarantee I'd have my games forever. submitted by /u/LateIntroduction9005 to r/Handhelds [link] [comments]

Steam Deck or Switch 2?
Need some opinions from people who have experience with the steam deck and switch 2. I bought myself a steam deck a few months ago as a Christmas present and it’s a great handheld, absolutely, but the last couples months I’ve found myself almost exclusively reaching for my switch oled I’ve come to realize I dislike the friction I feel with the steam deck, since it is at the end of the day a PC in my hands. I like how easy it feels to just pick up the switch and just launch a game and don’t have to worry about optimizing any setting. Not to mention my deck always has trouble when put it to sleep and suspend a game turning it back on it seems to always lock itself to 10fps and I have to reboot the whole system anyways. Should I sell/trade my Steam deck for a switch 2? I’m not necessarily a die hard for Nintendo exclusives but I do like the way the switch 2 library is shaping up with games like resident evil requiem, cyberpunk, Final Fantasy 7 remake, and Persona 3 Reload My steam library isn’t necessarily large by any means either so it’s not like I have hundreds invested in it and I still have a dedicated PC as well. Thank yall! submitted by /u/AcadiaAggressive8315 to r/Handhelds [link] [comments]

Steam Deck OLED vs Xbox Ally X user experience thoughts
Hi all, thought I would share my experience with these devices to help future owners. Sorry for the long post. Display: This one goes to Xbox in my opinion. Yes the screen is smaller and non oled but the increase in resolution is substantial. 1080p literally has twice the pixel count as 800p. The whole point of Oled/HDR is to display more information through contrast and that point becomes meaningless when you lost so much info from a low resolution screen. Pair this with SD weaker performance and the need to almost always use low settings + upscaling in demanding games, you got yourself situations when you cant even see enemies in the distance. As someone who runs a 4k 240hz Oled on my main rig, the Oled experience here with lack of VRR is just not worth it compared to a 1080p high refresh with VRR. Comfort: This is the one of the main reasons I switched and I think this clearly goes to Xbox. I needed a device that was comfortable to use while lying down. The SD Oled is good, I think its widely agreed to be one the most comfortable and lightest handhelds. For me though having hands on the smaller side, the buttons and analog stick being at the top means my thumbs are outstretched in constant tension which leads to fatigue very quickly. If I move my entire hand up to compensate, then it becomes much harder to grip the device from the two sides. The Xbox however has the traditional placement and it just feels amazingly comfortable especially with the handles. Even though its heavier, having the weight concentrated in middle makes it surprisingly easy to handle with minimal fatigue after 2 hour sessions. I originally chose SD because I thought the trackpad would help in FPS games being a mouse keyboard player. However due to the SD grip and weaker performance the trackpad (while amazing) was far from comfortable to use. In contrast playing FPS games on the XAX with the taller analog and larger buttons feels responsive and easy. But the buttons can be a bit noisy and the d-pad doesnt feel as precise. Battery: The main selling point of the Z2E chips is their performance efficiency. With the large 80W battery and the new chip, its on par with battery life of SD Oled (which is saying alot for SD with its 50W battery). Non demanding games at 16W can last a long time and most demanding games can be played on 20W easily lasting over 2 hours. Price to performance This is one where I think there is a lot of misunderstanding. I will quote original prices since the new prices after the ram shortage hasnt quite settled yet. The price varies quite a bit for example in Asia you can find it for 900USD. However assuming 1000USD: SD LCD 256GB=399USD / SD OLED 512GB=549USD / SD OLED 1TB=649USD / Xbox Ally X 1TB=1000USD On average the Xbox Ally X is 50-60% faster than SD Oled at 1080P (can easily find online benchmarks). Xbox Ally X 1TB/SD OLED 1TB = 1000/649 = 154% Xbox Ally X 1TB/SD OLED 512GB = 1000/549 = 182% Xbox Ally X 1TB/SD LCD 256GB= 1000/399 = 250% As you can see, when comparing to the same storage size the price to performance of the Xbox ally X is on par with SD Oled. Only when compared to smaller models does the SD stand out. In addition its also expected that more premium devices usually do have a worse price to performance ratio. However there is no denying the original SD LCD was still the most reasonable device to get into handheld gaming at that price point. For me I could easily get one for 870USD which makes it very competitive. Software SteamOS is still king. But...the windows 11 FSE is not bad. I would say that in terms of set and forget, the XAX is even easier than SD. This is because with the SD poor performance, you are going to spend alot more time fiddling with settings, using decky, FSR 4 etc etc. With XAX you just set a upscaler and settings and it will look and run great for all games. The downside is on the initial setup for XAX, Microsoft does the ridiculous thing of asking you to update from several sources instead of compiling into one updater, literally taking 2 hours. Such a mess.. On the resume function, using hibernate is just as reliable as resume in SD. Yes hibernate takes longer but with fast SSD, its more than fine. As a PC handheld, ie. extension of your PC on the GO: This was one of the biggest factors that got me into pc handhelds and also why I loved the switch to XAX. When Valve marketed the SD they sold it as an extension of your Steam library. Maybe it was true when SD just realised but its no longer the case for many years now. If you go on steam forums even they admit its now mostly an indie machine able to play older AAA but struggles in anything recent. The issue with this is that this niche already exists with the Switch and they do it very well. Yes you cant play many PC indie games on the switch but it was a huge library of quality first and third party titles. Im sure most pc gamers arent looking for a indie handheld or else there is a huge selection of choice already. They want something that can allow them to play ALL their library on the go with no compromise. That also includes multiplayer games with anti-cheat. Therefore if you are on board with Valves original vision of bringing your entire steam library with you on the go, know that ironically it is not what the SD is about at this moment in time. (and no, no amount fiddling with mods and decky is going to actually make it a enjoyable experience) Summary All this is not to say SD is not worth a buy. Some might think "of course XAX is better its almost double the price!" Thats not the point. What Im trying to convey here to potential new users is that if you are truly looking for that freedom and feeling of how far gaming technology has progressed with handhelds, to bring your steam library on the go, you need to get one of the newer devices. And at the same time the XAX is just as much worth the money from the price performance standpoint as SD. Also sometimes its not just about price to performance but having the ability to do what you actually need it to do. Maybe my viewpoint is in the minority but the way most people mindlessly suggest SD to me makes no sense in 2025 or 2026. Overall I would put it like this: SD LCD crazy price to performance if you want to test the pc handheld experience on non demanding titles. SD Oled not worth it unless you are set to stick to indies. (especially the non vrr 800p Oled with weak performance is not just worth it) For max price to performance one of the Z1E devices or newer generation would be the best like legion go s or ally X. (but weak battery life) However if you want that efficiency and around +15% performance bump then the XAX is the cheapest of the Z2A chips and also the most user friendly, able to do what a 'handheld' should in terms of ease of use and portability. (all 3 perform similar- Legion go 2, XAX, MSI Claw AI+) submitted by /u/Greedy_Bus1888 to r/Handhelds [link] [comments]

Chose the Switch 2 over a Steam Deck. I have no regrets.
I weighed the options between the two, and came close to getting a Steam Deck. My library is vast there, and being a PC user relatively new to me. That being said I’m usually at my desk playing while on Discord with my friends. I figured a Switch 2 could be my handheld companion, playing a different kind of catalog. It very much helps being part of a family plan for the expansion that my Uncle pays for, which I’m very fortunate to make use of. So off the bat I have Mario Kart World, GameCube games with a cloud save I’m not afraid to lose when I emulated in the past- and I can replay BOTW with the NS2E and fall in love with it all over again (the game I first played during the Switch launch). Sorry for the blurb, I’m just grateful. If you have any recommendations for what i can do with this thing let me know! submitted by /u/ghost_tropics to r/Switch [link] [comments]

Switch 2 Vs Steam Deck: For the Average Person
Having bought both of these day 1 (& the original Switch), it's been a great time for handhelds. If you buy either you are in for good time, both pretty amazing bits to tech. Credit to the OG Switch for really galvanising the pc-handheld era. But I do think if you are recommending someone a Switch 2 or SD it really depends on the person & what type of games that they like. You have a PC and big steam library? An enthusiast who loves to mod? Easy recommend: Get a Steam Deck. But to vast majority of people I would recommend a Switch 2. I feel it's more interesting talking about it here, where you'll probably disagree than in an eco chamber sub. Im not the most techie but Im way more invested than the average person, watch a lot of digital foundry, you know really nerdy stuff. But just as I bounced off the OG Switch for the Steam Deck, ive bounced off the Steam Deck for the Switch 2. Apart of the SD's appeal was the added flexibility and complexity over the Switch controlled environment. Now I'm turning to the Switch 2 for simplicity. Maybe its a by- product of getting older and having less time but I got burned out sitting down to play the SD for the game to need an update as it cant download in sleep mode for some reason and WiFi connection on it is so slow in comparison to every other device. It's great it has the functionality of a PC but it also comes with more issues. How many times can I get the disk write error? It validating whether i own the game. It seems the SD Verified label doesn't mean much either at times. The average person doesn't want to scroll troubleshooting on reddit to play their game after doing a 8-10 hrs shift. If they could fix this for SD 2 that would be amazing as the Steam sales and free Internet would be enticing to average consumer and an easier recommend. With Sony and Xbox releases being available on SD, it would be a big selling point. As for direct comparisons: also really like the ergonomics of the SD handles over the Switch 2. Switch 2 is more customisable with its design though. Haven't encountered Stick drift in either yet but early days for Switch 2. The plug in and play simplicity of the Switch 2 and ease of docked play is still great. Really like the mouse mode in shooters for Switch 2. The 120fps support and VRR on Switch is great, just a shame no docked VRR at the moment. OG SD is just 60hz, havent gotten the 90hz OLED to try. Price of games is a little overblown on Switch 2, it's roughly as expensive as other consoles, the only 80 euro game was bundled in with console at 50 and was 50 euro on Cdkeys 2 months after release. SD sales are a lot more competitive than Console prices. The reported main issue with Switch 2 is the ghosting on the LCD panel. To be honest, I really looked very close for it and could not notice it at all in most games and I'm sensitive to motion blur. Even in 2D side scrollers which supposed to be bad, it was not noticeable and the massive screen was a big upgrade from the OG Switch and Steam Deck (didn't get OLED for either). Until... I bought Hades 2 recently and now I do notice it here. The top down perspective makes the ghosting quite noticeable, still very playable but it is something to consider if you plan to play a lot of top down type games. Very surprised with performance of Switch 2, portable ray traced GI in Star Wars Outlaws really impressed as did the performance of Cyberpunk compared to SD. Benefits of DLSS and specifics ports. SD still impressing with the likes of Nixxes ports of PS4 games like Ghost of Tsushima, both God of War etc. Indie games generally run great on both, unless the developers dont have a Switch 2 dev kits yet and you just get Switch 1 version. Looking forward to seeing what Valve does with a potential Steam Deck 2 as the OLED was apparently already quite a good update. Maybe a Switch 2 OLED would release around a similar time and fix a few issues. Anyone else have both handhelds and have a preference? submitted by /u/SupremelyPerfect to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]

My impressions of Switch 2 as a Steam Deck owner
I recently picked up a Switch 2 on a good discount. I wasn’t even planning to buy it, but the price + curiosity about Nintendo exclusives won me over. Previously, I did not have any consoles in my entire life (except steam deck, which isn't exactly a console) and only played on PC. My switch came with Mario Kart, and I also grabbed Donkey Kong Bananza and Zelda: BOTW. Here are my thoughts: The downsides The first surprise was the size. I expected Switch 2 to be much smaller than the Deck, but in reality it’s almost the same footprint, just a bit flatter. You can still throw it into a backpack as a “last item” — which I’d never do with the Deck — but I’d rate portability around 60% of what I hoped for. The grip feels different too. With the Deck you get that chunky “controller-like” hold, while Switch is more “tablet-like.” After 20 minutes my hands do get tired, though at least the sharp edges people complain about don’t really bother me. Battery life is the biggest letdown. It lasts maybe an hour longer than the Deck. Considering Nintendo controls both hardware and software, I expected more. It feels like the LCD display was chosen with a future upgrade in mind. As for ghosting: I only notice it in menus when scrolling fast. During gameplay I barely see it, so no problem for me. The upsides The real surprise for me was hybrid play. I thought I’d only use the Switch in handheld mode, but playing on TV turned out to be just as good. The dock and joy-con grip aren’t gimmicks — they actually make the console feel like a proper home setup. Joy-cons themselves are surprisingly solid. The tiny sticks looked awkward at first, but for aiming I actually found them more precise. On Deck or regular controllers, moving the stick off the deadzone feels heavier and less accurate. With Switch I can make smaller, finer movements. Build quality is another highlight. Compared to the old Switch (which felt flimsy to me), Switch 2 feels sturdy and well thought-out. Joy-cons don’t detach accidentally, the chassis doesn’t creak, and overall it feels premium for a hybrid device. And of course — the visuals. Bright, colorful, sharp both on handheld and on TV. After this, my LCD Deck looks pretty dated. Haven’t run into any stuttering so far either. The games Mario Kart — fun with my wife in split-screen, but honestly dull solo. Glad it was bundled, I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise. Donkey Kong Bananza — neat destructibility mechanics. But my perfectionism kills me here: I’ll replay levels 10 times just to grab all bananas with the locator, and it gets exhausting 🙂 Zelda: BOTW — the main one for me. Perfect balance of casual entry and deep engagement. The challenges feel tuned just right, and as someone who’s not really been into RPGs/adventure games, I finally get why people love them. Conclusion I’d say the console + a couple of big titles is worth the money. The form factor, build, and exclusives all come together nicely. But I’d treat Switch as a complementary gaming platform. And in that role, it’s close to perfect. submitted by /u/Ril-may to r/Switch [link] [comments]

Switch 2 faster than SteamDeck LCD? Do I have the fastest Switch 2 in the market?
After all this commotion about Switch 2 pixel response time. I tried just for fun to do a UFO test on my Switch 2 vs my Steam Deck LCD and to my surprise it seems the response time in my switch 2 is actually faster than Steam Deck's. submitted by /u/Willyscoiote to r/NintendoSwitch2 [link] [comments]

Steam Deck OLED vs switch 2 CyberPunk 2077
After putting in maybe three or four hours of cyberpunk on switch two, in terms of visual Fidelity I prefer the steam deck, if only because of the screen, however, I think the switch 2 is slightly more comfortable to hold and the fact that I can set it on a table or countertop and detach the joy-cons makes portable play a lot easier. I suspect when the switch 2 OLED rolls around, it will be more preferable for portable play entirely... Until the steam deck 2 comes out. submitted by /u/MAGACommunist01 to r/Switch [link] [comments]

Steam Deck vs Nintendo Switch 2 (comparison)
Obviously we can’t compare the innards directly (steam can emulate anything anyway so it wins in software) I had the nintendo switch 1, and I was remarkably impressed with the new real estate. The size of the new Nintendo switch is significant compared to 1 but pales in front of the Deck, which makes the switch 2 look as small as 1. Having held both, while the switch 2 is lighter, the steam deck definitely feels nicer and snuggier. The steam deck ergonomics are excellent, it feels like it is meant to be held, having held most mainstream handhelds I can confidently say that it is the most “feel-right” handheld. Meanwhile the switch 2 felt a bit weird and awkward (the deck does spoil), because my hands had nothing to grip to, if you try both you’ll notice the difference which is substantial. The new switch thumbsticks feel less premium than the steam deck, the sound on the steam deck is louder. Nintendo may win in peripherals portability, but steam deck remain an inch higher when it comes to everything else (hardware wise) both are made of plastic but the deck feels fantastic. Lastly we can’t compare displays too because switch 2 is LCD, steam deck oled is well, OLED The only thing the deck lacks I think (beside higher performance) is increased portability with detachable joycons, and a stand (both which can mildly be achieved with a controller and a dock) submitted by /u/binklfoot to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]

Worth the Upgrade from LCD to OLED? Based on your use case. Yes, worth the upgrade for current or prospective owners if you've always dreamed of a Steam Deck OLED. If you're highly mobile with your Steam Deck and want to enjoy the improved experience primarily for the better visuals, battery life, storage and wifi 6 speed then Steam Deck OLED will especially be worth it for you. Otherwise... No, upgrading to the Steam Deck OLED may NOT be worth it for current or prospective owners if you are budget conscience or (for example) you play primarily with your Steam Deck 'docked' connected to outlet power much of the time (especially to an OLED or similar high-end monitor or tv). Remember: Steam Deck OLED is NOT more powerful than Steam Deck LCD. Gaming performance will remain identical across Steam Deck OLED and Steam Deck LCD. Should I wait for Steam Deck Gen 2? Yes/No Yes: Wait for a potential Gen 2 if you have been enjoying your Steam Deck LCD and seldom think about anything missing from the experience while you're playing. Although a Steam Deck Gen 2 has NOT been officially announced to the public, given Steam Deck's success, Gen 2 will indeed be worth the wait. Speculation is that a Gen 2 is at least a few years away or until the technology is available to justify a whole new generational update. Expect a Gen 2 Steam Deck to build upon everything great about the Steam Deck including OLED. Otherwise... No: Do NOT wait for Gen 2 and buy a Steam Deck OLED now if you're a first-time buyer or a current owner and OLED is your "dream" deck. Now is a great time to jump into the party with the definitive Steam Deck OLED as this new & improved iteration also keeps the same price point as the Steam Deck LCD at launch. It would be safe to assume Steam Deck Gen 2 is likely at least a few years away given the new OLED iteration. Till then, the getting is good. Jump in and enjoy the times! Can I get a refund for my Steam Deck LCD to buy Steam Deck OLED? Likely, if you're within Valve's 14 Day Refund Period (or slightly outside of it by days not weeks/months). No guarantees otherwise. YMMV. Check with Valve Support. Be kind. They have a positive reputation and are very supportive of their customer base. They deserve our upmost respect. HARDWARE REFUND POLICY: https://store.steampowered.com/hardware_order_terms?snr=1_614_steamdeck_steamdeck_1601 Is there a Trade-in Program? None (at this time). If one gets announced we will update this FAQ and sticky a notice to the community main sub asap. Does the Official Steam Deck Dock work for the new Steam Deck OLED? Dock is the same. No announced changes (outside of firmware updates). Compatibility expected to remain the same. Price has dropped from $89 to $79 USD. Buy Official Steam Deck Dock here: https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeckdock Will Valve cover potential burn-in for Steam Deck OLED? Yes, within the 1 year warranty period. Out of warranty period TBD. Is Steam Deck LCD Obsolete? Absolutely not! Although OLED is the new standard for Steam Deck going forward, LCD is a fine option dollar-for-dollar for the more budget conscience among us. With LCD surplus hitting the secondary market, Steam Deck LCD will be around for quite awhile and presents the best budget-based value proposition. If you're looking to purchase Steam Deck at it's absolute lowest price, then the LCD version is your choice. If you're looking to be a multi-deck or "docked" household user for example, then LCD version is an amazing option: You could theoretically purchase x2 64GB Steam Deck LCD's for the price of 1 Steam Deck OLED. Both feature the same performance! Will Steam Deck LCD pricing change? Steam Deck LCD models 64Gb and 512GB are getting phased out for the Steam Deck OLED. However, 256GB Steam Deck LCD will stay active priced at $399. Official price drops for Steam Deck LCD: 64GB/$349 and 512GB/$449 and are available until supplies last. See here for new pricing: https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck Steam Deck LCD available as Refurbished? Steam Deck LCD is available refurbished directly from Valve or from retailers like Gamestop at great low prices and 1 year warranty. It is likely Steam Deck OLED may follow the same path in due time. Certified Refurbished here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamdeckrefurbished/ Will my existing Steam Deck accessories work/fit the Steam Deck OLED? Yes. The overall physical profile across Steam Deck LCD and OLED hardware remain identical. Third party docks and peripherals are expected to remain equally compatible. Are there any differences in the Steam Deck 256GB model with this release? "The 256GB Steam Deck LCD (new entry level model) is the same Steam Deck 256GB we are shipping today - there are no changes other than price. We will continue supporting this model (and all existing Steam Deck LCD models) with software updates moving forward." Is there a reservation queue if you run out of Steam Decks? "Yes, if we should run out of stock for a specific model, we will switch to a reservation queue and customers will receive invitations to purchase in the order that they entered the queue. That said, we will be refreshing inventory of Steam Deck regularly, and do not foresee long queue times like we saw with the Steam Deck LCD launch." Are there any quantity limits when purchasing Steam Deck Oleds? "At launch we are restricting purchases to 1 model of Steam Deck OLED per customer per week. We plan to relax this restriction once we are confident we can meet demand." Will replacement parts be available? "Yes, we will be working with iFixit again to provide replacement parts and repair guides for Steam Deck OLED." Will all of my accessories for Steam Deck still work with Steam Deck OLED? "Yes, there is no difference in accessory compatibility between Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED." Will Valve offer a standalone OLED screen upgrade for my LCD version? Unknown at this time. Speculation is that it will NOT be an option as hard/soft revisions were made to the Steam Deck motherboard & internals to accommodate the OLED screen and other new features. However, anything is possible with Steam Deck. We will update this FAQ if/when an upgrade is announced first or third party otherwise. Keep in mind, upgrading your screen in general is a highly technical modification to make for the average user for slightly better visuals. It's advisable to opt towards purchasing the Steam Deck OLED. Will Steam Deck OLED use Hall Effect Thumbsticks? No. Will the Steam Deck OLED have the famous sweet coveted vent smell? TBD. We won't advise inhaling vent smell but some of you are vent smell maniacs and are gonna do it anyway. How much $ should I sell my Steam Deck LCD? YMMV. There are too many factors to consider when determining individual resale values of preowned Steam Deck's including model, storage size, overall condition, hours of operation, aftermarket upgrades, accessories and location. A few things to keep in mind: Steam Deck LCD is getting phased out (meaning LCD versions will no longer be manufactured as the flagship specification) while the secondary market will have an increase in available preowned stock from customers upgrading to OLED. This means prices will be at an all time low for the Steam Deck LCD despite having identical gaming performance. Steam Deck LCD will be a buyers market (simply speaking). Can I order x amount of Steam Deck OLED's including Limited Editions? According to Valve, you are clear to purchase 1 model of Steam Deck OLED per week excluding Limited Edition which is limited to x1 per account overall. Per Valve: Only one Limited Edition unit may be purchased per account. To purchase a Limited Edition Steam Deck OLED model: You need to be in the United States or Canada Your account needs to be in good standing Your account needs to have made a purchase on Steam before November 2023 Only one unit may be purchased per account Source: https://twitter.com/OnDeck/status/1724544060621541536 Will Valve do anything to limit bot activity and prevent scalpers/scalping hording the supply of Steam Deck OLED's (especially the Limited Edition OLED)? Besides having a Steam account with recent purchases before November 2023, and a purchase queue, common sense would tell us it is likely Valve will take additional "behind-the-scenes" preventative measures against bots & scalpers eating up the launch supply. Best that the public does not know the specifics of whatever those are to prevent circumvention. Will bots and resellers end up buying all of the Limited Edition models? "We are taking extra steps to minimize bots and resellers for this model, to ensure as many actual customers are able to purchase these units as possible. To purchase a Limited Edition Steam Deck OLED model, you need to be in the United States or Canada, your account needs to be in good standing, and you need to have made a purchase on Steam before November 2023." I missed out of the Steam Deck Limited Edition. When will it be back in stock? TBD We're speculating as of this writing but we anticipate Valve offering more than a single launch day cycle of the Steam Deck OLED Limited Edition. That means, if you were unable to lock one down on launch day 11/16, perhaps stay ready for another cycle of availability. It is likely Valve will offer them on a "first-come-first" served basis (x1 per account) . A reservation queue may form for them as well. There's also a chance that once they're sold out they're sold out indefinitely. We'll update this FAQ with relevant information on this topic. Will there be other Limited Edition Steam Deck's and Colorways available? TBD. We'd speculate that there's a good chance there will be other LE versions and alternate colorways available to order in the future. The concept is just too popular and in high-demand by the community for Valve to pass up. Officially, Valve expressed interest in gauging demand for alternate colorways and LE's however no specifics have been announced so no guarantees. Alternatively, the custom modding scene to trick out your own Steam Deck design is still hot as ever. Expect some pretty rad custom Steam Deck OLED's to hit the scene rivaling official Valve released LE's. We will update this FAQ as we learn more. Is it worth it to sell my Steam Deck LCD and buy the OLED version? Yes and No. Yes, if OLED is your dream spec and selling is your designated path to acquire the Steam Deck OLED of your dreams. Keep in mind, there's the usual associated risks, downtime and loss in cash value associated with selling to upgrade. Also, your resale value may be affected by increased Steam Deck LCD stock in the secondary market of those following the same path. Otherwise... No, the upgrade may not be ideal if you're content with your Steam Deck experience. Most everyone desires the latest & greatest however consider that much of the new OLED updates & features benefit especially the highly mobile Steam Deck user. If you play docked at home for example, you might consider keeping your Steam Deck LCD and putting your otherwise upgrade cash towards more Steam games or a new standalone OLED screen (such as the LG C2 or the Alienware AW3423DWF) for the versatility. How many Steam Deck OLED's can I purchase? As per Valve: "At launch we are restricting purchases to 1 model of Steam Deck OLED per customer per week. We plan to relax this restriction once we are confident we can meet demand." Limited Edition versions will be limited to 1 per account and available in U.S. and Canada only. What are some good external OLED monitors/tv's to connect my Steam Deck? LG C2/C3 series OLED TV LG G3 OLED TV Alienware AW3423DW/F 34" QD-OLED Monitor LG Ultragear 45" 45GR95QE-B OLED Monitor (800R Curved) Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 49" OLED Ultrawide Monitor (Model G95SC) Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 32" Ultrawide Monitor Where to get real-time updates for Steam Deck OLED?
