I finally reconfigured my server and unretired 7800XT, for fun since I have a better RDNA2/3 card decided to try optiscaler with Horizon Forbidden West using int8 on linux(ubunut 26.04) and I was impressed. Was only in the starter zone and on fsr quality was getting around 80-120fps. Wasn't that much of performance hit compared to my Xbox Ally/Steam deck.

Dang. I contemplated setting an alarm for 3am, but decided against it and put my order in this morning around 8am. Glad I did now, figured they would go quick. Never used a Steam deck, so will be interesting to see what it feels like in action. Will likely grab a Frame as well whenever they drop. I've put off trying VR long enough. If anyone can make it work well on Linux, it'll be Valve.

Steam cloud support would be enough for me. It's annoying that in 2026 I can't play DS2 and 3 on my Deck and then play the same save game on PC too.

The DRAM situation is unsustainable surely? Steam Deck 2 is apparently delayed because they can't source enough DRAM. Apple and Sony have been warning about price increases and supply shortages later this year, and if they're hurting then many others must be too.

I posted here a while back about my shitty steam deck and lemme just say I love it when it works. But very often it does not. I've already resubmitted a claim but now its out of warranty so who knows. I contacted steam and they made me do a whole song and dance which and initially weren't even gonna take a look at it despite me complying and sending them in all their proof they asked for bc they said it was an issue with each game I sent in even though it was like 4 different games, verified, and different developers. Finally they said they'd look at it and I got it back a bit ago. And I know its the same one bc it had the screen protector with an air bubble under it. At first it was fine. But now everytime I try to play a game I can play for less than an hour without it freezing on me or glitching in a way that makes it unplayable to the point I have to restart it. I retried all the fixes from the original post and from steam. Nothing. I'm so frustrated dude I wanna scream. People loce their steam deck and mine just SUCKS. I Work 12 hours a day so i barely stop at home and have no time to play games, ive been wanting to own a steam deck ever since It was announced but i'm Brazilian and tech is prohibitively expensive here. I finally managed to buy a deck but after only 2 days of owning it for some fucking reason It turned itself on while inside it's case because of my bluetooth headphones, and It overheated badly to the point that the case was burning hot once i got home. The deck still Works but it's VERY slow, even after i let It cool off for an entire night. It can't run any games and takes like 20 seconds to even open a browser. It's so slow that even typing takes like 1-2 full seconds to register each individual letter. I'm completely devastaded, this thing was so expensive and i've wanted It for so long and now it's ruined because apparently this fucking thing Just turns on on it's own randomly. So yesterday I was looking at my Steam Deck OLED (1TB version) case and I noticed that the inside case was a bit detached from the exterior case. I was like, "Oh no, I have to glue it." Then I pulled it a bit more and I discovered there are two cases, like it's on purpose. I was blown away, no clue I had that. I traveled with the big case all this time and I could have reduced weight. So I'm sharing it with you today! One of the most common sentiments I see is “just get a Steam Deck”. And I’m curious as to the “why” behind it. For me personally I think it’s the easiest way to get a console gamer into PC gaming. The barrier to get into the Steam Deck is very low when it comes to cost of hardware and software (especially during Steam Sales). Those are the reasons I would recommend a Steam Deck to someone. I’m curious if those are the reasons you would recommend it to. Just as an aside, I know there are other options like the LeGo S at a similar price point. But I still see so many people just recommending the Deck. To them peeps who answered my previous post about convincing on whether to buy a Steam Deck or not for 2026 I bought it and this thing has been INSANE Sure it's not the best out there nowadays, merong Legion that has the SteamOS din, pero nothing beats the device that owns the OS This thing also helped me sa pag-stop ng doom scroll ko, I usually doom scroll before bed for that hit of dopamine pero mas nag-lean na ako sa roguelikes and swear to god, umayos yung focus ko I could go on and on sa pag-glaze sa SD pero here are the top things i liked: 1. Portability - i had a Switch 2 before and idk but this feels WAY lighter EDIT: My bad, what I meant by this is yung handheld feel na, the SD has deeper grooves para mas-madali hawakan kaya magaan siya, pero in terms of bringing it around sa bag, mabigat pa rin lmao. can bring this thing anywhere i go Remote Play tbh i'm not a fan of Steam's Remote Play, I use Moonlight/Apollo and it works SO WELL, I've been playing MHWilds from my PC and did not experience any issues and almost close to zero latency (feel ko lang 'to since medj fast paced and reaction based ang MHWilds, i did not have proper tools to test) Customizable decky, that's it. undervolting (iykyk) easily repairable (if alam mo ginagawa mo or nung tech na pagpapagawaan mo) EDITT: CONS: Battery life - honestly not that good, but not that bad either, AAA games? watch it drink battery juice in 1 hour. simple 2d/indie games? 4-5 hours tops. Streaming a game from your PS5/PC? 6 hours easily. Screen glare - can't stand seeing myself while i'm playing, had to buy a matte tempered glass, and tbh it made the screen a bit better (VERY SUBJECTIVE) So hey, maybe this is your sign, pero take this with a medj grain of salt kasi I already own a capable PC, so if you're expecting this to play AAA games, then you might be disappointed, pero that does not mean it's not a great product Cheers! submitted by /u/jabeeborgir to r/PHGamers [link] [comments]

I have been going back and forth with steam support for multiple weeks now and am just getting royally boned at this point. I ordered the OLED steam deck and the charging station on November 25, and both were marked as delivered. Only the charging station was delivered, and the same delivery picture was provided for both order numbers on the UPS website. I had it sent to my parents house which has a gate and video surveillance, so the entire interaction was recorded. I offered to provide the video to steam support but they declined since they would be doing their own investigation(?) Steam went ahead and sent a replacement package. This time it was marked as delivered with no photo whatsoever. Video surveillance shows that no delivery was even attempted at the time the package was marked as delivered. I’ve tried opening a claim with UPS directly but it locks me out of the claim screen and tells me I need to contact the vendor, which is steam in this case and even if I could I’d need the serial numbers and stuff which I’d need to get from steam support anyway. Has anyone else experienced this and is there any other recourse I can take? It seems like UPS outsources their delivery drivers during the holidays and with all the corporate bureaucracy it’s impossible for me as an individual to hold them accountable. Hey all, I recently purchased a steam deck and loved it so much I recommended to my friend. He recently placed an order for the 512gb OLED, however when he opened the package the deck had been replaced with an extension cable. Someone who works for the courier has clearly recognised the box, made the swap and resealed the package (the box also has two strips of tape to back this up, which was sent to valve). This was purchased directly from valve so the issue was raised with them on two separate tickets but both times they have said there is nothing they can do about it as they sent the package correctly and it was marked as delivered. He has filed a police report (valve are also aware of this and he offered to provide a crime reference) and contacted his bank and the courier but so far hasn’t heard back. He doesn’t use reddit so I suggested making a post to see if anyone here has any advice of anything more he can do? My wife and I went on vacation and she asked my brother in law to stop by and feed the turtle while we were out. I guess he set the heat lamp she uses on top of the steam deck in it's case for some reason, and forgot to put it back. Anyhow the lamp was on a timer so for 4 days it boiled my deck for 12 hours straight. I pre-ordered this 512 gb LCD the day it was launched and used it extensively for several years. I haven't had too much time to use it lately, but it was a beloved part of my life. I guess I should just be glad I'm replacing a deck and not my entire apartment. Any chance Valve can fix this? I lost my job the day after Christmas for an unjustified reason, and while the vacation was already paid for, things have been stretched thin ever since and will continue to be for a while. Just keep getting kicked entering this 2025.
