I just made this today dont want it on my main. I 23F live at home with my Dad, Mom and younger brother and I also work from home. So here is the short version, I work for a pharmaceutical company as a data analyst and hopefully soon to be a data scientist once I finish some certifications, I have worked at this company for 3.5 years, I started as an intern and once I finished my degree I was given a full time position. My parents deal for me to live at home as an adult was to always contribute to the household, so we came up with “what contributions” to make sure there weren’t any discrepancies. Pay the light bill because I am home the most (roughly $200 a month during winter and 350 during summer…Texas) I opted to pay for the water ($150), gas ($50-80), internet ($100) My mother added for me to drive my brother around – at reasonable requests so I usually pick him up after school from practice and he plays like a million sports and is in a trillion clubs, this is until he can get a car. I also drive him to places if I can. I pay for my own cell phone, car insurance and subscriptions. I still have chores, cooking, cleaning, etc. so does my brother. Well, my dad came to me last week and asked that I start paying $500 a month (cheap yes I know) because he desnt think I contribute enough to the house. This rubbed me the wrong way because I feel that I do, I know $500 is cheap and I wont get anything cheaper out there but that will mean I will be paying 1k a month to live at home. So I said if I am going to start giving cash for living at home then I am a tenant not a family member contributing to the house. If I am going to pay rent then I want a lease, I want to be able to come and go as I please, I don’t want to pay the monthly bills because then it should be covered in my rent and the obligation of driving my brother around should also go out the window (he is my brother and I will always accommodate him because we get a long but not the point). He got upset and said I want being petty and not thinking clearly and if I leave I will not be allowed back when I realize the real world is harder than 500 a month and when I fall on my ass, he will not help me. I looked around and I can get a studio apartment or a 1 bedroom for $1200, and I get my own space and privacy and more than likely not spend too much more money. I would save on the utilities alone so it wouldn’t be that much more expensive, and I can get my desk out of my room. He has been ignoring me for the past week until today. My mom asked for me to take the day off to discuss this and didn’t want my brother home because she didn’t want him to see us arguing, which is weird because why would we be arguing and not discussing?! My mom tried to negotiate, that I don’t pay utilities and my rent is $750 a month but I still had to do chores and keep the same routine with my brother. Also, the house rule would be no noise or company past 9 pm Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday unless requested a head of time and absolutely no men can spend the night or be in my room (weird because this was never an issue). My dad stayed quiet the entire time, but I could tell that he was bothered, I said that wouldn’t work because I spent money on gas to drive my bro everywhere and I don’t want it to be a rule of tenancy to be my brother’s chauffeur. That’s when my dad blew up and called me selfish and he is just trying to teach me responsibility, accountability and that me harping over giving them money just shows that I am not part of the family and want to be an outsider because I should want to help. I argued that me paying over 500 a month in bills, gas driving around my brother, and chores should be enough to show how unselfish I am, but if its necessary for him to receive payment from me then I will pay the $500 and none of the bills and I will gladly drive my brother around. My mom argued that 750 was reasonable, and I said no its not if you still want me to live here like a teenager, dad said 500 so that 500 should cover everything. My dad stormed off and my mother said I am treating this like a business negotiation and that she is disappointed in me because my dad only said 500 because I was paying other bills and only wanting to pay 500 all included is a low blow, and renting is a waste of money and they would feel better if I moved out to a purchased home. Like what?! I am not ready for that level of commitment. It’s not the money but that is a major purchase and now I feel like the trust I had with them is fractured. Before anyone asks idk if they are in financial distress, my mom is an MRI tech, and my dad is a pipe fitter. Also, if my parents where in financial distress I would help them 100%, I went to school here in the city, I have been saving 60% of my salary for the past 3.5 years and the other 40% was to my car that I paid off and my student loans (which I only have 25k left). TLDR- dad wants me to pay 1k a month and keep responsibilities, it feels like its too much and I should move out. Normally that doesn't include utilities, or not all of them, nor does it usually include internet. Or laundry. Do you have furniture? Maybe instead of focusing on the details of what they are asking from you, you could ask your father, “Why now? Because you are right to request more independence as a woman at 23. And maybe he has a good reason for what he is suddenly demanding too and we just haven’t heard it yet. Update - next day May 02, 2026 Update: My parents are just ridiculous and I am going to look for apartments this weekend So its 545 right now and my Dad is getting the full exposure of driving around my brother and my Mom and I had a conversation as to what happened which solidified that living here will just end up to us having a horrible relationship. My dad as previously mentioned is a pipe fitter in the union, sometimes he has to travel for work but not all the time and he works long hours so he doesn’t see everything that happens. Now to the update. 3 years ago when I went from intern to full time I was making 62k a year as entry level and that was generous because they already knew my work. Well last year a position opened up and I was offered the position now making 82k a year and quarterly bonuses up to 10%, I have never received the full 10% because I didn’t see the value of working 60 hours for an extra paycheck a month. Last week my dad was home more than usual and just saw me holed up in my room “doing nothing just staring at a computer and watching netflix” well I had a grey’s anatomy running in the background but I always shut it off when I am in meetings and its just comforting to hear other voices in the house when you are alone all the time. When I left for my brother my dad walked in my room and saw my W2 and that my gross last year was 78k (promotion money included) and he asked my mom how much am I contributing to the house and she said well she doesn’t give any money. Well that was enough for him to say I wasn’t contributing, no follow up questions. He also forgot that I was paying the utilities – why? Because my mom handles all the bills. When he told me I had to pay because I am not contributing enough he thought I was just picking up my brother, doing chores and cooking twice a week for dinner. So when I pushed back saying I pay bills, pick up my brother, drive him around 3-4x a week between 4-7, give him money when he is short for food and take him out to eat during the outings, plus everything else, he got flustered and thought I was exaggerating and doubled down. The silent treatment for the whole week he was asking my mom and brother to “validate” and when they did he got even more mad that he didn’t know all this because its obviously my fault for not ANNOUCING it to the world. During the 1st conversation of the 750 and driving my brother around was my mom being selfish because she knew it would fall on her and teaching him to drive! But I explained he knows how to drive, he went to driving school and has a learners permit so when he is with me I do let him drive to get comfortable. She didn’t realize that he completed his courses which again is weird to me because SHE literally signed him up! Even with all this my dad biggest issue is that I no longer need them which is not true, you always need your parents. But after this back and forth and reading a lot of the comments, and me saying my dad has quirks or shuts down I just come to realize he and I trigger each other so much. He and I will get into a screaming match because he refuses to admit he is wrong and I refuse to let him walk all over me, but I know how to apologize as well HE DOESN’T, he will just pretend like it didn’t happen. This is just not going to work out. She finally agreed to it and will speak to my dad because it will just continue to escalate. I did offer for them to come and walk some apartments with me so they feel involved and my mom said yes but she will see what my dad will say because he doesn’t want me to move out and is really upset that I wont back down from that. But I honestly don’t see us coming back from what happened this past week and today, I know it will just escalate – I haven’t even addressed why he was in my room and looking through my stuff to see my W2’s. Right now my dad is getting frustrated driving around to just wait on my brother and then drive again in high traffic times, which has been my life for 3 years. The only difference is that when I took that role/responsibility my brother was only 13 years old so he didn’t have a lot of extra circulars. My mom knew but she was happy with the arrangement because she didn’t have to deal with it. She also apologized for her role in saying that I am trying to negotiate because she understands that I do a lot for my brother and that will fall on them at least until he gets his license. Once I move out depending on where I move I wouldn’t mind helping out and driving him around maybe once or twice a week because I do enjoy spending time with him and so do my friends. Once a week after once of his extras we go to Chili’s and eat and hang out with my friends and I know I would miss him too much if I just stop being around him. There are so many times we just sit in the car eat and laugh or gossip. But hopefully we find something this weekend and I can move within the next month. Hopefully my dad and I will be on speaking terms by the time I move out. NEW UPDATE Final Update - after 1 month, 22days June 23, 2026 I moved out and everything went to hell but it has been eye opening! Hello! Apartment update! I moved out! I went apartment hunting at first with my mom to look at apartments near by and hated every single one of them. The next day I went further into the city where its best for young people and those where too expensive for "fake luxury". After the first few dead ends my friends mom put me in contact with a realtor friend and helped me find the perfect spot! Its a 2 bedroom townhouse close to places I would want to be and in a nice neighborhood, I pay 1300 a month for 1200 sqft, it has a community pool, tennis court, park, close to some walking trails and its mostly young families since they are townhomes so I dont feel out of place! I love this place so much and the area! I also love decorating my place and picking out furniture and going thrifting! The girls come over and we can have girl dinner, wine and binge watch shows without interruptions! I love that the bedrooms are upstairs so it separates my work and life, having a 2nd bedroom that is an office/guest room has been the best thing ever. I did buy a pull out couch because I anticipated my brother would spend the night but its been so great, to be able to walk out of that room close the door and not think about work! Speaking of work I have done so much better at work because I am not looking at the clock to go pick up my brother or run errands and it has been noticed at work. I mentioned before I dont want to work 60 hours a week for an extra paycheck to hit all the KPI's but honestly moving out of my house and leaving the stress helped me reach all my weekly KPI's without working more hours than usual. Getting to places to eat is so close, if there wasnt a serial killer killing people in the bayou, I would definitely be out there more lol. Brother Update Well this is where things went sideways. My father was not there when I moved out as he was still giving me the cold shoulder. Since moving out and its now summer time, my mom had to change her schedule to get off in time to be able to take my brother around but he was home all day by himself and that really messed with him and he ended up having a panic attack and called me for help and then I sent the bat signal to my grandparents and parents, since I now live about 20-30 minutes away I worried that I wouldnt get there in time, time for what? idk but I never heard my brother this way and I was scared, some how I got to my brother in 15 minutes and I am sure I broke many traffic laws. By the time I got there my Mom and Grandparents where there and he locked himself in the bathroom and it took a while to get him to open the door. In the morning my brother was finally able to express himself, he said he felt trapped and alone that no one noticed him but me. I didnt realize how much he depended on me, he said it started during COVID, since my Mom was picking up extra shifts at the hospital for extra money and they needed staff she isolated herself at a hotel, my Dad went to the oil fields to rack up extra money since everything was shut down, it was just me, my brother and grandma. Well our grandma on my dad's side doesnt speak a lot of english so we went from an English house to straight Spanish and my brother was a "no sabo" kid but he picked up enough for a conversation but that alone made me the only person he felt really comfortable talking to. Then he had online school and I was the only one who could help him with homework so I kinda became more than a big sister. He feels like our parents are strangers forcing a conversation with him. Then his worst fear happened Mom and Dad asked him to give up some of his activities because they couldnt manage working and his schedule or find rides or start taking Lyft (all this through text) because Mom wasnt able to get off work in time and Dad was onsite somewhere and at the time our grandparents where grocery shopping. He said during COVID he felt so trapped that when everything was lifted he just wanted to be outside all the time and not be stuck inside at all he didnt want to feel like that again and that is why he started joining all activities he could. I just figured he was just an active kid not that he was running from lockdown. He is staying with me for the summer until he can get his license and has become my neighborhood dog walker for money and to get outside and meet people. He really needs human interaction. He is also going to start therapy his first session is in a few weeks. I did start putting boundaries on my brother about him going places and needing me to take him everywhere, he really does need to take Lyft, Uber or whatever, if I can drive him I will, I am his sister not his mother and we definitely let that sibling line blur into his codependency. I am also to blame because I didnt realize it sooner, but again I really do like hanging out with my brother I never thought that he saw me as the only trusted adult. Since he isnt driving he did give up a lot of summer activities, but he likes the area, there are kids his age and being a dog walker he is definitely getting attention, plus it doesnt help that we are so close to the Galleria (mall) which he and his friends are spending a lot of their time at. Parents Update Well after those wonderful updates my parents and I sat down for a conversation, my Dad finally apologized for how everything happened, my Mom apologized for her role in all this as well. I did not apologize. I dont feel like I had anything to apologize for other than to my brother for letting this get so far. All this is a lot for my Dad and he would like space to figure out what to do which is a deflection. It ended on neutral ground that they have to do better and I need to step back, (yet my brother is staying with me) so yeah they will be no change, because my brother will have his license, get a car and they will never see him because he will stay out of the house as much as possible. I told them that and my Dad kinda waived it off but you can tell it got to my Mother. From my understanding from pieces of what my Mom says and grandparents, my parents are not doing well. They are fighting, my Dad is being stubborn and they are blaming each other for us not being in the house...idk if divorce is happening but I do know they have never fought like this before. My Dad thinks everything will go back to normal once my brother is in school again, my Mom thinks she lost her children. She does come by a few times a week and she is really trying with my brother and taking him out and spending time with him, my Dad, well he thinks my brother helping him in yard, or doing stuff around the house is enough to get back on track. She becomes the ultimate Poison support not only defensively through her passives granting max team-wide Crit buff and team-wide Vigilance on top of healing in Poison Zone, but can unleash offense through her moves debuffing defenses, summoning Poison Zone up to 4 times, providing considerable MUNs buff to all with her Almighty Venoshock, on top of inflicting both Break first time to an enemy! Another month, just as we predictably guessed we're getting a new Arceus Cup chapter this month. The long awaited Arc Suit Diantha is finally here... but to my lukewarm feeling, so is Geeta. Not much noteworthy this month so to say, so let's dive right in. Akari (Summer 2026) & Manaphy A pretty surprising choice, Akari makes her first alt debut in a Summer outfit, and this time she's getting quite the attention by giving her Manaphy. Despite the different time periods, she has deepened her bond with Manaphy. She's a Water Support character with EXR Sprint. Her passives lets her: - extend Rain. An ally restores 10% HP when attack is successful during Rain; - use 1 MP on her Berry after sync to summon Rain and restore her own HP by 30%; - 1 MUNs to all allies each Rain. Her B-Move has no use limits. It cures all status condition from all allies, raise both Attack and Defense of all allies by 1 rank, and when there is Rain, raise both MUNs by 1 rank. Her TM summons Rain, gives 2 SyCDR and maxes out all allies' Critical stats. Very good support. In her grid, at 3/5 she can take 1st Hit Rain, Team Defense 2 debut, Rain Coat for team-wide Vigilance in Rain, Rainy: Team Moves 2 for powered up moves, and even a grid to give Berry MPR when it's 0 first time. Rating: 9/10, she's a Water Support powercreep that we all needed, this is one of the seasonal banners you should consider pulling on, but you have to consider since a new Arceus Cup chapter is coming later in July. That being said, she pairs excellently with NC May who sets EX Rain, and to a small extent if you have the former, 4/5 Arc Suit Misty. Only problem I have with her is... this feels like NY Lana situation again, why is the powercreep a seasonal unit?! Arezu (Summer 2026) & Basculegion Arezu fans eat good with her summer alt! From her description, she seems to be reflecting on her past mistakes. I wonder what it is that allowed her to team up with Basculegion. Interesting choice since she doesn't seem to use said Pokemon in her original games. Anyways, her role is Ghost Tech with EXR Physical Strike. Her passives are interesting: - when she's the only unit, whether it be the only standing unit or living, all her stats expect HP increase by 50% and her moves and sync power up; - when an ally faints, she maxes out PMUN and SMUN; - also, when an ally faints, she will gives 9 SyCDR... which is basically an instant Sync Move. Her notable move is her B-Move, "Souls' Repose Last Respects', with 3 use limits. It deals damage to all, never misses, always crit, doesn't lose power in AoE, and lowers Defense by 2 ranks. However, important to note, said move's MP restores by 1 if there are at least 2 Pokemon in team, so as long as the team is alive, it can be used indefinitely. On the other hand, the move's power increases when there are fainted Pokemon on your team. Her TM gives 2 SyCDR and maxes out her offense stats. She's one of the few non-premium (meaning, EX MF or Arc) unit who can have max offense stats like that. Important since her Sync Move's power is raised with high Attack buffs. In her grid, at 3/5 she has Vigilance, Furious Brawn, 10 SyMUN to self on ally faint, Brainpower. Rating: 8/10. She covers Physical Ghost niche which makes her good to pull on. However, her gameplay style is rather interesting, as even though you can theorically play her normally, it also creates potential for rushing the battle through when your team's allies gets downed. Unfortunately, she doesn't create Ghost Zone, so the best team available is with Raifort and Volo & Giratina, or if you want an aggressive team, replacing Raifort with NC Selene. Arc Suit Diantha & Gardevoir Oh my god oh my god oh my god the wait is finally over, FINALLY! After slightly more than 1.75 years, Diantha FINALLY gets her spotlight, debuting her first premium 1% rate banner in an Arc Suit Fair banner - her dazzling Fairy shines through the screen. As with any Arc Suit users, she's Multi with EXR Special Striker - so she's the ultimate Fairy striker. Her ever-shining performance on a nighttime live opens up with: - 3 SyCDR on entry, max Sp. Attack buff, sure-crit on any moves; - after sync, use 1 Fairy Wish MP to summon an extended Fairy Zone; - 2 SMUN to herself when an unit summons Fairy Zone. Her Almighty Dazzling Gleam deals damage to all without power loss and lowers Sp. Def by 2 ranks. If her Gardevoir is Mega-Evolved, it will use 2 bars instead, making this a powerful spammable move. Her Almighty Moonblast activates after Mega. She unleashes massive AoE damage upon her enemies thanks to said move's passive increasing its power based on her SyMUN buff. Afterwards however, it removes her SyMUN buff. Her TM gives 1 SyCDR, grants Regen, Endurance and Damage Guard. Also, if her Gardevoir is Mega Evolved, she will also gain 3 SMUN for herself. Aside from Mega Evolution, her sync move will grant 10 SyMUN buff, which can make either her Moonblast or sync move a powerful nuke. Also, since Mega counts as entering the battle again, she will trigger 3 SyCDR on entry a second time. In her grid, she has Brainpower at 3/5. She can take a grid that summons Special Kalos circle on her first sync, and extension. She can take Brainteaser which boosts her moves against enemies that have Sp. Def debuffs. She can take Ethereal Entrance to summon Fairy Zone on entry. Advancing her to 4/5 will allow her to restore 1 MP of her Almighty Moonblast on first use. Advancing her to 5/5 gives her the equivalent of Support EX by allowing her to give 2 sync buff on her first sync. Rating: 10/10. I can't stress enough, please do not pass up on her, because she's one of the few chances at starting to build up a solid Fairy team, even if she needs 3/5 for a shining performance. Especially if they might push Fairy more with Floette and similar, chances are they are going to debut a new EX Fairy Zone user which would elevate her performance further than Lacey, she already has a solid base because Gym Bede gives multiple Fairy Zones, which in turn funnels power into Arc Diantha due to her 3rd passive. She can also be a long term investment, her 5/5 is a strong capstone, which could be more impactful if Fairy teams had more Sync Accel in general. Arc Suit Geeta & Glimmora To my surprise, Geeta is debuting alongside Diantha in her Arc Suit. It's a somewhat fast turnaround, because while on one hand Poison needed an Arc, on the other hand Geeta's base unit is not that dated. It's why I have always been lukewarm about her getting an Arc Suit. I am tempted to jump the gun and think 7th anniversary will conclude Arceus Cup chapter, but who knows... they haven't been repeating types. Her role is equally as surprising. Obviously she's an Multi unit, but her EXR is Support which means she replaces Atticus' position. Her passive has a good focus on both offense and defense: - Bad Poison to all enemies, AND max crit buff to all allies on entry; - Restore HP to all allies when taking damage in Poison Zone, as well as when she's hit by an opponent's Sync Move; - Team-wide Vigilance to all in Poison Zone. Her Almighty Mortal Spin deals damage to all without missing, lowers both Defenses by 2 ranks, poison them if they have no status, removes damage field from ally field true to said move, and cures Trapped condition. Her Almighty Venoshock has 4 uses and is single target. The first move uses inflicts both Break status to the enemy, which is big. She also summons a Poison Zone and gives 2 MUN ranks to all allies. Her TM gives 2 SyCDR and uses up to 3 gauges to raise both Attack and Defense of all allies by 4 ranks. And obviously she carries 2 Potions. Finally, her sync move gives 2 MUNs to all on first use. In her grid, at 3/5 she can take Impervious, boosted moves against poisoned units, Endurance to all on first sync, Poison Zone on first sync, Team Status Immunity in Poison Zone and Sync Moves UP 3 in Poison Zone. Advancing her to 4/5 will grant Poison Zone Extension 3. Advancing her to 5/5 will let her first Almighty Venoshock not only give 3 SyCDR, but also grant Supereffective Up Next to all allies. Rating: 9/10. Compared to someone like NC Ethan, even if she may need 3/5 investment unlike Arc Korrina, Geeta has a significant amount of defensive buffs that keeps the team alive and prevent allies being bogged down by debuffs and similar, on top of boosting their moves, and providing quite alot of MUNs to allies as well as Break, which is far more useful to have. You do not need her 5/5, but there is potential niche for GvG where SEUN is an impactful buff to have generally speaking. Here are other things of interest: Lodge Hau: Congrats, Hau fans! Unfortunately it's a filler Normal unit but could be neat to have if lacking other choices. Bianca Power Boost: Her expansion is decent, she has Psychic Terrain extension like Courtney, but she also has Fortuitous 9 which lets her speed up her stat buffs, thus making Stored Power even better. Select Seasonal: Presumably because of older Seasonals finally getting EX Role, there is a new Seasonal Select banner. The priority should be NY Lana, but I wonder if there might be other choices to consider due to EXR expansions for Seasonals. However, please DO NOT select Summer Cynthia, as she is being given out for free in September, unless she is really a big favorite for you. Double Feature EX PF Rerun: This round is SS Ball Guy and Brassius rerun. Actually a very good EX PF rerun, SS Ball Guy provides EX Grassy Terrain, while Brassius is a very strong Tech unit. I noticed that all the hip young women at my work are all wearing midi dresses this spring, no more knee-length dresses anywhere, and hardly a maxi. Same thing at a fancy cocktail attire wedding I went to - all the hip young "hot" girls were wearing midi length slinky slip dresses with a slit, whereas in the past at such an event I'd have seen more mini dresses. And of course for casual wear - wide leg pants or jeans with a boxy white tee or something with some minimal sneakers. A tiered flowy white cotton skirt for casual/dressy. Those seem to be the "uniforms" I'm seeing all the people in my life at work, among friends, family, on the street, etc., who are the type of people who always look put together and fashionable. It's weird that I haven't seen midi length very highlighted in any 2026 spring/summer content I've been looking for. I'm so sick of videos and articles and stuff that just look like they are rehashing fashion shows. I like content that feels like a cool older sister is showing you her actual closet. Poppy & Iron Treads: Variety Steel Field user, very notable for summoning EX Steel Zone. Has respectable damage. Larry (Special Costume 2) & Komala: SC Normal Field with EXR Support user who can summon EX Normal Zone. Even though his pokemon gets a permanent Sleep condition, his passives lets him use moves, and grants Sleep immunity to all allies. I know next week is Golden Week in Japan, but we were expecting that we might have to wait way longer. In truth, I'm relieved that we can get this month over with, April was rather boring with the Academy reruns. Sigh... That being said however it seems like there's going to be a trend of Golden Week having a premium character - to my surprise this time it's Kieran in a Sygna Suit outfit. But first things first, let's welcome our new guest, shall we? Drayton & Archaludon Drayton seems laid-back and unserious, but don't be deceived by his appearance - he's the grandson of Drayden, so when he battles, he becomes a very serious individual. (By the way, Drayden is also finally appearing in the game, but he's only a NPC. Whyyy) Anyways, he debuts in a new EX Pokefair banner as Tech Dragon character with EXR Special Striker. His ace is normally Steel-Dragon, but his Tera lets him become Dragon. His passive lets his Paralyze status move, Thunder Wave, not only inflict Special Break, but also summon Dragon Zone, both first-time. The first passive lets him Terastallize on entry, not only raising his offense stats, but also summoning Special Paldea Circle, which activates the second passive to give all allies 1 SMUN. His main attack is his Sapphire Tera Blast, which inflict a random status interference, and if he has MP on his circle, he uses it to give aforementioned circle and restore 1 MP of his B-Move. His B-Move, Steel Flash Dragon Pulse, deals damage to all, never misses, doesn't lose power, and lowers their Special Defense by 2 ranks. Also, if the target is paralyzed, the power is boosted by 50%. His TM allows him to give 5 SMUN to an ally as well as Enduring effect. Finally, his sync will increase damage against a paralyzed enemy. In his grid, at 3/5 he has Foul Fighting 3, Soften Up 1, can take Circle Extension, and can take self Circle: S-Moves 9. At 4/5 he can boost all allies' damage in Dragon Zone and Team Circle: S Moves 3. At 5/5 the most important part is being able to summon extended Dragon Zone on sync. His 10/5 is not particularily worth mentioning imo. Recommended sync pairs: Considering he is able to summon Dragon Zone, despite being a Tech user he pairs well with Hassel who can set EX Dragon Zone. Him being Special means he probably replaces SS Serena's spot for understandable reasons. The 3rd slot is... abymsal, it's either SS Brendan or NY 2026 Lana. He's 7.5/10 or 8/10 individually imo, but why are the other partners so awkward in terms of options? Anyways, after him comes a new premium unit for Golden Week - it seems like there's a new trend of each year having a new premium unit each Golden Week. Last year, we got Arc Alder for said week, so this week, I present you... Sygna Suit Kieran & Furret It didn't take this long for him to follow after the previous partners. Carmine got her Sygna Suit, the Paldean MCs got their anniversary outfits. So it's natural that this time, Kieran debuts in a new EX Masterfair banner, wearing his Sygna Suit outfit with Furret! He's finally ready to show to everyone that Pokemon battles ain't just about winning or losing! Normally, Furret is a Normal type pokemon, but with Tera, SS Kieran debuts as Ice Special Striker character with EXR Sprint! His Masterfair passive emboldens his willpower, and has Sure Hit passive. He debuts with Ice Tera, changing to a passive that maxes out his offense stats and summons Special Paldea circle. With his circle, he can do the following: - upon using circle, summons Ice Zone, give 2 SyCDR and 2 SyMUN; - on sync, consume 1 MP to summon it and gives himself 2 SMUN and 1 SMUN to other allies. His Ice Beam move can be used once per sync: it deals very high damage to an enemy and gives 3 SyMUN to himself. His B-Move can be used once per battle and activates after a sync. It never misses during a hailstorm, freezes all, has expanded attack, and inflict Special Move Break to them. Best used when stacking a lot of SMUNs. His TM gives himself 3 SMUN, 5 SyMUN and gives Enduring. The main method of attack is his Ice Tera attack, which lowers the target's Sp. Defense and is expanded / doesn't lose power in AoE. At 3/5 he has Furious Brain, confusion chance grid, Brainpower, and can take Sure Crit grid for all his moves. Advancing him to 4/5 will allow him to extend Ice Zone and Special Paldea Circle. Advancing him to 5/5 will allow him to use his TM twice. Recommended sync pairs: SS Kieran being able to summon Ice Zone makes him good to pair with NC Hilbert to keep EX Ice Zone up. Personally, 8.5/10, I'm saying this as a Red fan. It feels like he's missing something though, because usually 5/5 is a capstone but the fact that it gives him just one more TM usage does feel underwhelming For support, Irida would let the ice team keep uptime on EX Ice Zone, but if you have an invested SS Kieran and/or NC Hilbert for extended the initial EX Ice Zone, then it is better to place Grusha instead, as well as to take advantage of the Paldea circle and EX MF passive. Larry (Special Costume 2) & Komala Later in the month, we'll get a new event that features two new guests... once again, it's Larry. However, with him comes a surprise in the form of Flannery getting an alt. Gosh. Larry takes a break once again, and this time he brings a Komala with him. It's hard to get tired of him relaxing in a hot spring... Considering his popularity, it wouldn't be a shock if he got an EX Masterfair variant in future. Anyways, this time, he debuts as Field Normal character with EXR Support. His passive... is interesting. According to Pokedex, Komala spends its entire life sleeping, and it dies asleep. A little omnious. Getting to point: his Pokemon enters the battle with a permanent sleep condition that cannot be removed, however they can still attack and it also ignores the gauge speed reduction from Sleep condition, so SC2 Larry is a bit like Summer Cynthia in terms of status condition. His Tera passive also grants sleep immunity to all allies, and his attacks will inflict Sleep condition on enemies. Also, his second passive makes him buff all allies' SMUN when an ally summons Normal Zone. His B-Move, Relaxed Charm, lowers all enemies' Attack by 3 ranks, increases all allies' SMUN by 2 and summons Paldea Special Circle. His TM gives slight sync accel and sharply raises both offense stats and critical. His Tera move is Special Normal move. It lowers an enemy's Sp. Defense and Accuracy by 2 ranks, and the first usage summons an EX Normal Zone. At 3/5 he has Dirty Fighting 3, Free Move Next under circle, circle extension, Brainpower, Team S-Moves 3 and Normal Zone Extension 3. Recommended sync pairs: If it wasn't obvious... he's to be paired with Anniversary Juliana, whose repeated Normal Zone summons and extensions on investment makes the zone last long. It's way more than enough with both her and SC2 Larry. Gym Whitney has some relevancy since her EXR is Field, but the presence of EX Normal Zone elevates Mai, a normal Support who can also summon multiple Normal Zone. Personally, I rate him to be 8.5/10. He is certainly a good highlight if you have Anniversary Juliana and Mai, and you want to enhance Normal team even further, but you have to consider if you want SS Kieran or wait for June, because there is a chance of a new Arceus Cup chapter in June. Flannery (Special Costume) & Magcargo A round of applause to those Flannery is in order! After 6.5 years, at last she debuts her first limited alt with a new outfit! Remember that event from a long time ago where people picked which units should get their first alts? Now it's fully complete with her presence. She joins Larry in sharing the hot spring experience. Her challenge is aimed at enthusiasts. Interestingly, she has learned the art of Terastallizing. This time, she's a Sprint with EXR Special Striker character whose passive lets her debut with an extended Sun weather, and she has Soften Up 1. Her Tera passives boosts offense stats, gives SEUN and 2 SMUN. Interestingly enough, her Tera move not only inflicts Special Break and gives 3 SyCDR first time, but also has its power multiplied by ten times if it's used and the team hasn't had a Sync Buff nor has it been used more than 2 times. Afterwards, it will give Free Move Next. It seems like the devs' solution to Sprint users so far seem to be making them able to deal immense damage on entry, which is an interesting concept. I just wonder how good it's going to be. Her B-Move, Thermal Inferno, is single target and inflicts Burn without missing. His TM is a bit supportive in nature, as it heals an ally by 40% HP, grants Damage Guard and Enduring effect. Finally, her sync move's power increases with higher Sp. Attack buffs. In her grid, at 3/5 she can make her Fire Spin trap all opponents, has 2 SMUN while 0 Sync Buff, Solar Flare 9. Not too noteworthy. Recommended sync pairs: She's probably not the best user to be positioned with Arc Suit Silver, as she does not have any other source of extending Sun, unless the third slot is with someone that can keep EX Sun uptime like SS Morty. Also, the fire type roster is rather saturated as hell... I'm tentatively giving her 6.5/10. Her kit design of having insane damage at start is at least slightly better executed compared to Academy Perrin, who I would give no more than 4/10 and that's despite her being Physical Flying. (...maybe 4/10 is too generous? How about 2/10?) Here are other notable sync pairs or things for this month: Rika & Great Tusk: Not much to say here. To be honest, she is a bit of 6/10 for me, it depends if you want to hyperspecialize a bit in Physical Ground, but if you have Variety N, she's not going to be a huge change for your team. We should probably be glad that Arc Cynthia's 5/5 can set Ground Zone every sync... Poppy & Iron Treads: Another Variety unit. She brings along EX Steel Zone. With her and SC2 Larry, we finally have all EX WTZ in the game now! Anyways, she's a 8/10, her kit is not too different from the likes of Variety Unova trio, her TM having SMUN 3 though means SS Lear supremacy, and she can pair well with Academy Sonia. But... oh no... Arc Stevenbros, I don't feel good about being replaced... Lodge Emmet: Not much to say, but he can be nice f2p pair for giving interference, especially in Tower. No rating, he is free. Mix Hau: Hau debuts in a new Mix variant with Incineroar, turning to the Dark side... His AoE move is actually really strong and a solid alternative if you don't want to invest in Giacomo, as he functions like Mix Elio but Dark-type. 7.5/10. SS Lusamine 5/5: Sprint 3 + max crit at 4/5, SMUN 5 on sync at 5/5. Actually a very respectable upgrade, as it makes her a bit more bursty which may be of further help if you have Arc Sabrina. NC Cheren 5/5: PMUN/SMUN 1 on attack and sync at 4/5, Strong Start 5 at 5/5. The capstone is the most boring thing ever, his 4/5 does boost his damage in a decent manner though and makes his build-up faster. Overall good but could be better. SST Red 5/5: His 4/5 is a little underwhelming, it's Headstart 2 and NOT 3 which would have been really neat. His 5/5 is fairly interesting, but there is only so many times you can summon Electric Terrain. He could have gotten something better, but it's whatever, I can just wait for Arc Suit Red next time. Perrin & Mai EX PF Rerun: We have our first EX PF reruns in Perrin and Mai, and it's a duo rerun. I'm curious what are the rates going to be. Perrin remains a very strong pick up and has its value boosted thanks to the shirtless guy that is Arc Suit Brock, so if you want to solidify your Rock roster, it is a good time. Moreover, Mai's value has been greatly boosted by SC2 Larry being able to summon EX Normal Zone, allowing both of them to drive their Normal-type MDPS units. If you have any spare gems, consider picking this banner up. By the way... if Academy Perrin was at most 4/10, her base version is still a 10/10, especially since she is very functional at 1/5, while for Mai it's 9/10, there are a few alternatives though of course. Paldea Master Fair Tiered Select: New Tiered masterfair it seems. It's probably because of heavily pushing the new special Paldea CS, which will have extra parameters aimed at using Paldean units. Just know this following: Florian is very solid if not considering Red96, Juliana is fine but is aging a bit, Geeta remains a solid physical partner for Anni Irida, Kieran is actually good to pair with Arc Suit Korrina. His posts were made to r/OpenChristian Important Context: Larry Nassar was a Team USA Women's National Gymnastics Team doctor from 1996-2014, where he used his position to exploit and sexually assault hundreds of young athletes as part of the largest sexual abuse scandal in sports history. Nassar was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting at least 265 young women and girls over a 22-year period under the guise of medical treatment. His victims included numerous Olympic gymnasts, with some as young as six-years-old. OOP also added that the church his parents attended was a Non-Denominational church Trigger Warning: pedophilia, victim blaming minors, accusations/gossip of child pornography Mood Spoiler: unfortunate Original Post: (February 11th, 2026) I haven't lived with my parents since starting college, and I currently live by myself while working two jobs. I live a little over an hour away, but I come home for the holidays and other occasions, along with the Super Bowl this past Sunday. My parents are very religious, and I have a younger brother who's twelve. I always sleep over whenever I visit, and the only rule is that I must attend church (if staying on a Sunday) because mom doesn't want anyone home when they're not there, and that extended to friends and family since I was young. I was surprised when it extended to me since I grew up in their home, but I'm glad to no longer be forced to attend church every week. My dad always held a Super Bowl party since I was young, and I came up on Saturday to help set up as usual. This situation happened as a result of attending church on Super Bowl Sunday Despite our pastor taking a moment to give his thoughts on the big game before the sermon, the situation came from something else he vented about, and that was the Winter Olympics. Ironically, it wasn't about any of the athletes who made political statements (which was surprising given his history with sharing political opinions). It was about something he and his wife discussed and felt led to share. Long story short, they advised their kids to change the channel if figure skating came on any of the broadcasts, and their reasons were harmful in my opinion. He said that some of the female outfits were "revealing" and not good to watch because it can lead to lust. He also went on about how "the world" finds ways to "normalize telling girls to dress inappropriately". He even said the Summer Olympics did the same thing with the uniforms that the female gymnasts wore... going as far as to call it "normalized p*rn" because their parents would "never allow them to wear a skirt that shows as much" as the uniform outside of the sport setting He also said the uniforms "allowed creeps to watch with lustful intentions and not be questioned" because it was normalized, and he didn't like that possibility when one of his kids used to do gymnastics. He did, however, mention a rule change in recent years that allowed girls to wear shorts over their uniforms during competitions; something he supported and would've required his daughter to wear full-time if she still played. He also said it was unfortunate that the rule change and the female German Olympic team's full-body gymnastics uniforms happened after Larry Nassar's case because "no one wanted to point out the inappropriate uniforms" that he was "forced to be around" because there was an "agenda" to punish him. He also said that many girls were "playing the victim" because society "allowed them to". He even said Nassar "maybe wouldn't have done what he did" if not for the uniforms he was forced to be around, and I personally thought that that shifted blame onto the uniforms instead of his actions. His overarching point, aside from advising parents to consider turning the channel, was to be aware of how the world tries to push their kids to dress inappropriately by normalizing figure skating and gymnastics attire, and I disagreed with much of his message My parents and I discussed it on the drive home, and I mentioned how I thought it was harmful to send that message. My parents disagreed from a purity perspective because they taught purity to us when we turned twelve. I think it's harmful because purity should be a personal choice instead of something instilled by your parents when you're just hitting puberty. I also disagree with how the pastor sexualized both sports and absolved Nassar by blaming the outfits, but they didn't have an issue with it. Heck, a few of the pastor's points received applause (including from my parents), and the whole thing ruined my mood. My mom also plans to inform one of our cousins' parents (whose daughter does gymnastics) about the rule change in case she doesn't know. And while that's fine on its own, I disagree with her motives behind it The message shouldn't be that girls are responsible for the actions of those who sexualize them. They should wear shorts because they want to, not because they think they're doing something wrong by wearing appropriate clothing for the sport. I have never pushed him to propose because I am very comfortable in the life we have created and always assumed when he was ready then he will pop the question. Last week I was told by one of his friends to ‘expect something nice’ for our anniversary. She told me I should get my hair and nails done ‘just because I should look nice for my surprise.’ Which I rightly assumed was a proposal. On the weekend, I went shopping with one of my friends and bought a new outfit and got my nails done ready for our weekend away, I was telling her how I think I’m getting engaged and how excited I was to spend the rest of my life with Tom. Last night Tom and I go to leave for dinner from the hotel and I get in my new outfit and spend hours getting ready. When I come out and tell him I am ready he asks if I ‘can actually look nice for once because tonight was special’ I asked him what he meant and he said to me that I always underdress or dress like I’m going to a club when we go to nice places and that I embarrass him. We got in a fight and I ended up walking out and not going to the dinner he had planned to propose to me and I went to my parents house because I was upset. Update - 2 days later Hi everybody, Very sorry for going MIA for the past few days. It’s been a lot since my original post. I ended up speaking to my boyfriend the day after everything went wrong and I went to sleep at my parents house, basically he apologised for everything he said and that he was incredibly stressed over proposing and everything bubbled to the surface. I told him this wasn’t good enough and while I appreciated him apologising, I didn’t accept it and I felt I deserved better than that. To paraphrase a very long conversation, the proposal is off the table for now. But neither of us are prepared to throw away a six year relationship over this. For more context we met at a rave, and do continue to go to raves as it’s something we enjoy to do together which is why I normally dress like we’re going ‘clubbing’ I feel like posting on Reddit opened my eyes to a side of our relationship that I had tried to close off. While I do love him, there are things in our relationship that I’m not happy with, and things that he’s not happy with either that we have both compromised on that we’re not sure are compatible in the long-term. Going even farther, you have a goth teenage daughter who wants to wear black to an event where he doesn’t find that appropriate, is he going to call her names and belittle her for her clothing choices the way he just did you? Do whatever works for you, but I’d be incompatible with someone whose response to stress was to belittle me and try to make me feel like shit for totally normal reasonable actions/choices. Update - 8 months later Hi Reddit! A lot has happened since my original post last July I’m not hopeful a lot of people remember me but I wanted to update to let you know what’s happened since then! (This is going to be long sorry) So I broke up with my boyfriend of 6 years ‘Tom’ after all this happened because you all gave me the reality check I needed to leave him after this whole shitshow unfolded. We went no contact and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in figuring out how to live without being with him (don’t worry I had the cats) and I truly only made it through with the support of friends and family showing up in ways that I never imagined. I’ve never been so broken but so loved at the same time. On the 24th of October (3 months post breakup) I got a call from his mother that he had been taken to hospital by ambulance 2 days prior after having a seizure at work and he was asking for me. I let her know I appreciated the update but I was living 3 hours away from where they were and wouldn’t be dropping everything to see him right now but that I hoped he was okay. She then told me he had a (benign) tumor in his frontal lobe which was discovered after he was brought in which was being removed in emergency surgery and that I should be there for him. I told her no. On December 17th Tom turned up to my house (I was living with my family) and was refusing to leave until I saw him. I went out the front and he explained that he wasn’t himself in July and that the tumour had been affecting his decision making/emotional regulation and to please just give him a chance. So we went for dinner that night. And I fell in love with him all over again. He was exactly the man I had loved all these years and there was no hint of the man who belittled me over a $300 dress while he wore a $40 button up and jeans. But that one night didn’t change everything for me, we still weren’t together but now we weren’t no contact. We started texting, and then calling almost daily and it was like nothing had happened when we spoke. He had kept asking me to come home to him and I said no every time… almost. I went ‘home’ to him on February 6th under the guise of getting the last of my things and to say goodbye to the house I called home for so long, but a few days being back home I realised I didn’t want to leave and that I wanted to try again. I stayed there for the weekend and on the 8th when I went to leave I kissed him, and then some 👀 We started dating again, and everything has been wonderful. His health is going well and he is exactly the man I knew before. He tells me I’m the most beautiful woman when I’m in my sweats on the couch, he packs me lunch for work, he takes me out to dinner ‘just to show the world how lucky he is’. He’s the love of my life and last weekend I officially moved back into our house. Last night he took me to our old favourite Italian restaurant and asked me if I would marry him, I said yes. Paints you in a non trusting light so that’s up to you to decide. If you have seen a scar and post op photos he probably is not faking the tumor. The impact of brain tumors is a guessing game too, the location can be a clue but how it affects us and to what degree, that no one can tell you for absolute certain. But the frontal lobe does affect personality expression and seizures are the most common debut symptom for brain tumors so thats that OOP: I definitely don’t think he’s faking the tumour, but maybe I’ll ask to see the medical reports just for peace of mind. Nassar was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting at least 265 young women and girls over a 22-year period under the guise of medical treatment. I live a little over an hour away, but I come home for the holidays and other occasions, along with the Super Bowl this past Sunday. My parents are very religious, and I have a younger brother who's twelve. I always sleep over whenever I visit, and the only rule is that I must attend church (if staying on a Sunday) because mom doesn't want anyone home when they're not there, and that extended to friends and family since I was young. I was surprised when it extended to me since I grew up in their home, but I'm glad to no longer be forced to attend church every week. My dad always held a Super Bowl party since I was young, and I came up on Saturday to help set up as usual. This situation happened as a result of attending church on Super Bowl Sunday Despite our pastor taking a moment to give his thoughts on the big game before the sermon, the situation came from something else he vented about, and that was the Winter Olympics. Ironically, it wasn't about any of the athletes who made political statements (which was surprising given his history with sharing political opinions). It was about something he and his wife discussed and felt led to share. Long story short, they advised their kids to change the channel if figure skating came on any of the broadcasts, and their reasons were harmful in my opinion. He said that some of the female outfits were "revealing" and not good to watch because it can lead to lust. He also went on about how "the world" finds ways to "normalize telling girls to dress inappropriately". He even said the Summer Olympics did the same thing with the uniforms that the female gymnasts wore... going as far as to call it "normalized p*rn" because their parents would "never allow them to wear a skirt that shows as much" as the uniform outside of the sport setting He also said the uniforms "allowed creeps to watch with lustful intentions and not be questioned" because it was normalized, and he didn't like that possibility when one of his kids used to do gymnastics. He did, however, mention a rule change in recent years that allowed girls to wear shorts over their uniforms during competitions; something he supported and would've required his daughter to wear full-time if she still played. He also said it was unfortunate that the rule change and the female German Olympic team's full-body gymnastics uniforms happened after Larry Nassar's case because "no one wanted to point out the inappropriate uniforms" that he was "forced to be around" because there was an "agenda" to punish him. He also said that many girls were "playing the victim" because society "allowed them to". He even said Nassar "maybe wouldn't have done what he did" if not for the uniforms he was forced to be around, and I personally thought that that shifted blame onto the uniforms instead of his actions. His overarching point, aside from advising parents to consider turning the channel, was to be aware of how the world tries to push their kids to dress inappropriately by normalizing figure skating and gymnastics attire, and I disagreed with much of his message My parents and I discussed it on the drive home, and I mentioned how I thought it was harmful to send that message. My parents disagreed from a purity perspective because they taught purity to us when we turned twelve. I think it's harmful because purity should be a personal choice instead of something instilled by your parents when you're just hitting puberty. I also disagree with how the pastor sexualized both sports and absolved Nassar by blaming the outfits, but they didn't have an issue with it. Heck, a few of the pastor's points received applause (including from my parents), and the whole thing ruined my mood. My mom also plans to inform one of our cousins' parents (whose daughter does gymnastics) about the rule change in case she doesn't know. And while that's fine on its own, I disagree with her motives behind it The message shouldn't be that girls are responsible for the actions of those who sexualize them. They should wear shorts because they want to, not because they think they're doing something wrong by wearing appropriate clothing for the sport. I also felt the pastor was telling on himself and projecting onto the congregation, but my parents didn't see it that way. I helped them clean up for their guests when we returned, but left before the game as some guests began to filter in. My parents were disappointed and said it would've been better if I hadn't come at all, even though I'd helped set up. I'm more concerned with the message they told my brother and how Mom plans to relay it to my cousin. Needless to say, I'll never attend that church again, and I only did whenever I visited, like once a year. Does anyone have any experience with correcting a message from a parent that might be harmful to a younger sibling? Update Post: (February 13th, 2026) My father called me for the first time since we spoke on Sunday at their home, and he had the same tone as his text. He said it was disrespectful of me to leave early when they let me sleep over despite helping them set up. He also said he didn't appreciate having to tell guests why I left early, and he said he made up some excuse. I reiterated my disgust for the sermon and how they supported it. And in hindsight, I should've walked out and waited in the foyer. Granted, I couldn’t drive home because we carpooled, but I'm disappointed that I didn't. However, since the church encourages viewers to share their videos in the descriptions of their YouTube sermons and on social media, I decided to vent my frustration that way using malicious compliance. I left a review of the church that explained why I'll never attend again. I also mentioned how the pastor defended Larry Nassar and left a link to the sermon, along with a timestamp to when his rant began. The link will prove the truth of my review. And if they delete the video, it'll only make it louder (when the link leads to a page that says 'deleted video'). I also made an Instagram story about my disgust for the sermon and left a link to the YouTube sermon there too, and many of my friends have also told me their similar disgust I've lost almost all of my respect for my parents, but that's nothing new unfortunately. I was debating cutting them off when I was in high school, but figured that going to college would provide space that'd help prevent that. I was wrong, but I shouldn't have been surprised. Them finding no issue with the pastor's rant is par for the course of how they still support a certain someone with strong ties to a certain list, and much of my teen years were annoying because of their obsession with that figure. They also loved it when our pastor got political in the past, and that's not what church should be. I return for one sermon simply because of my parents' home rule, and he spins the Winter Olympics into a rant defending Larry Nassar. It's always some new demographic every week with these people, and Sunday was a reminder of why I don't miss church As a result of me not apologizing, Dad said I'm not allowed to come to next year's party, and that's totally fine with me. The other unfortunate part is that Mom talked to my cousin's mom about the sermon, and she agreed with much of it and said her daughter would be required to wear shorts over her uniform going forward because she was unaware that she could. Again, nothing wrong with deciding to wear them. But the message shouldn't be that women are responsible for creeps like my pastor who admitted to being unable to appreciate a sport because his mind is fixated on sex. I don't get why certain Christians like my parents are hyperfixated on it like with purity. My cousin's parents are also Christians, and they agreed with turning the channel from figure skating too. They'll probably do the same with gymnastics in two years, and my church (along with others I've researched) have had females wear t-shirts over their bathing suits at church gatherings with a pool, and I've attended parties with that rule since I was little. That doesn’t stop them from going to the beach where others aren't wearing t-shirts over their bathing suits, but you could go down the hypocrisy rabbit hole forever, and I'm ready to go low-contact. I (33F) moved abroad, more than a 10 hour flight from my hometown / most of my family and on another continent. In July, I had some tensions with my twin brother, nothing serious but we didn't really speak to each other, and following that he got engaged to his girlfriend of four years. I made a trip home in November and saw him, there was no animosity and I even asked if I should stay my final night at his place since he’s near the airport - which he immediately agreed to but in the end it didn't pan out because I wasn’t comfortable taking all my luggage and a small child on the train - but I’m emphasizing the point there wasn't any hard feelings or anything around it. Instant yeses, lots of love, nothing unusual in fact. Me and my brother love each other and we may bicker or go radio silent but it is never anything serious. In November, to my face he says he didn't have a wedding date, they were thinking end summer (which I took to mean third week of September) and he specifically said don't book anything travel wise. Later, I get a text from a family member saying they will see me on August 22nd. I did à double take and asked if they are sure that the date is set, they informed me they were told this specific date was penciled in. So tentative, but not in ink. I got back to my brother but he didn't respond. As flights for me are going to be expensive no matter what, and I will have to find childcare (since I was told it's a childfree wedding) there is a big difference in September flight prices and August. But now my brother isn't responding to my messages, and I'm asking for clarification on if I'm invited and what dates are as travel cost is only going to go up for me. He hasn't responded and I'm not sure what to do, I get the feeling that he will wait until travel is too expensive to invite me, so it looks like I'm the one who refused. Until now there has been no question that I'd be invited and I have made it clear I'll make the trip for him. It's weird that you haven't picked up the phone, but so far his lack of communication indicates he's not prioritizing you attending his wedding. If your main purpose in going is to avoid backlash, your family has bigger issues than you should budget for. Decide if you even want to go and then call your twin, not the bride or your mom. OOP: Picking up the phone, means using my landline to avoid incurring a cost to him, and also organizing with him a time (since my time zone is 9hrs ahead) that we are not only both awake but not working. I don't have social media or apps that can allow internet calls except WhatsApp. So picking up the phone is doable but not simple. + As for the backlash, my family knows how close we are and even from infancy we were inseparable, we were like salt and pepper. We were the babies of the family too, so the older siblings all saw our bond. They would be disappointed if I wasn't there, and ashamed if I myself avoided it. If that’s the case and if you can afford it and you are able, I would suggest buying a fully cancellable/refundable ticket for that date now. That way you have all of your bases covered and regardless of if you actually use the ticket or not, you will at least have some upper hand on the situation without risk to your finances. I got the vibe I wasn't invited and his fiancé hates me but our parents kept saying of course I was included and made me feel ridiclous for thinking I wasn't, since we have been so close for most of our lives.
