My daughter walks although not very steady, can say mum with the occasional dada, waves occasionally, pokes things including her highchair when she wants more, shakes her head no and raises her arms to be picked up. She starts speech tomorrow because she doesn’t babble all that much. She doesn’t clap, play with toys, fall asleep independently or play independently if her life depended on it.

My cat Sadie has a lot of weird toys that he’s found and began playing with - supervised of course. On this list are electrical cords, plastic bags, fabric tape measures (yes,multiple!), lint roller papers, towels, pipe cleaners, The list goes on. There are certain toys that I take from him, like the cords, but he gets so much enrichment out of these things. My question for yall is, are there any odd items that your kitty has claimed as their own, or does my cat just have pica or something haha? He genuinely gets obsessive about some of these ‘toys’ and I had to stop him from playing with them. Other ones I’ve had to hide and have only supervised, short playtime with them. But I couldn't look away either. Watched it a few times as a kid never fully enjoyed it but never turned it off either. Why were people in wacky costumes? Why did everything feel so vast and empty? Why was the pink doll lady eating mayonnaise sandwiches? In my little kid mind, I was always waiting for some kind of entertaining payoff that never arrived. It looked bright and playful but the whole thing had this underlying disturbing feeling I couldn't explain at the time. Like something was off but no one in the movie acknowledged it. Almost dystopian in a way, just dressed up in primary colors. Revisiting it as an adult, I grew to genuinely appreciate the technicolor set design and visual insanity. I think it was the toy factory setting in the middle of nowhere that made it so unsettling. The sheer exaggerated scale of everything, the way they played with size and proportion left this constant unsettling feeling. Eerie and uneasy, but still beautiful production in terms of visual landscape and set design. I found a ton of promotional photos and film stills putting this together and even just looking at them, it's such a specific kind of 90s time capsule that feels worth sharing and appreciating.
