GastroHealth in Fremont Sending Cease and Desists to Cover Up Negative Reviews
I’ve spent months fighting intense pain, that was incited by a procedure recommended and performed by Dr Gregory Bernstein, with future doctors confirming the procedure was inapproprotate to symptoms, without adequate followup for the intense pain. At first I thought this was an honest mistake, but then learned of seemingly others with similar experiences at the practice. Their response was to send a cease and desist to try to silence a negative review. Sharing this to Reddit so others can avoid them like the plague. —- Update: I was told the review may have been hidden, amid a lot of Redditors leaving fake reviews. Another reached out to me to share that their legitimate review was removed as well. I’ve archived the content below. —— Dr Gregory Bernstein incited long-term pain and bowel dysfunction after recommending and performing a procedure 5+ months ago which future colorectal providers described as contraindicated to symptoms, without cause (the procedure was on an asymptomatic hemorrhoid, incidentally noted during colonoscopy), and likely with improper technique, due to the facility’s preemptive use of nitroglycerin. He rushed through the first appointment we had, and didn’t ask many questions. Half my responses were mischarted, and he cut me off wherever I tried to ask questions, or provide detail. When confronted with the severe pain (like, in tears, after previously tolerating a thrombosed hemorrhoid), he was a condescending jerk, and tried to minimize the pain as just anxiety, initially refusing to do any exam, and never performing a DRE, before or after, actively delaying receiving the right diagnosis and treatment in a timely manner which may have helped to undo the damage he contributed to. He just said to schedule an appointment a few months out, and it would be gone by then if I used Nitroglycerin (which both didn’t work, and added to irritation). A nurse initially refused to share a list of PT providers, until I finished two more bandings. He then charged my insurance $1k for a second procedure he never performed. (Edit: this was marked as an office surgery in claim, but the CPT code was correct in EOB. He did bill initial visit at 45 to 60 minutes, despite less than 15 minutes of interaction). On Yelp, others have described similar incidents, and being guided into a procedure branded as “painless” without explanation or concern when severe pain is the outcome. The entity had a negative reputation from both a local colorectal specialist, and PT. I tried to switch providers at GastroHealth, but was told that wouldn’t be possible, and to seek referral to hospital system (months out) instead. After leaving a negative review, Dr Bernstein rescheduled video visits (for a rectal injury), where he contributed nothing remotely valuable. This has caused thousands of dollars in medical bills, invasive tests, temporary disability, and near constant pain, severe enough to prevent me from being able to travel over the holidays, even after months of PT. The experience has been incredibly traumatic, to trust a doctor, and go from an already distressing amount of pain (which he did nothing of value to address), to an all new kind of pain. submitted by /u/njgtechguy to r/Seattle [link] [comments]

Travel insurance - is it what I think it is?
I am in the process of booking my honeymoon to Italy for two weeks. We have booked 3 hotels so far, totalling about $7,000, and foolishly I bought reservations that weren't refundable to save $900. These were booked mostly in February, but one was early March. The honeymoon is late June/early July. Since booking my fiancee learned that there's a mass in her chest that is potentially lymphoma. We're waiting on pet scan results and then biopsy. If she has cancer then we don't know what the travel plans will be like, if we can even go. I know it was foolish to buy non-refundable bookings. Please save the shame. I know. I am looking into travel insurance and it seems like it would cover cancellations, and it would also cover a lot more. Is this correct? Thanks in advance 💚🙏 submitted by /u/plantsandramen to r/travel [link] [comments]

Always get travel insurance!
Note: Not an endorsement! Just sharing as it was my first time filing a claim. Recently went to Japan last Feb 19-Mar 4 and got sick while we were there. Had to book a consultation at a clinic in Shibuya with an English speaking doctor and I spent 55,000 yen. Aside from that, 10,600 yen for prescribed meds din. Refunded after 3 working days of filing a claim through Standard Insurance. Deny my expenses? Fine you can pay more than triple!
This is a quick and dirty one... I'm based in the UK and often have to travel for work via Train to our head office. I typically get public transport to the train station, I live in walking distance to local connections and just pay the nominal amount for public transport tickets myself. One particular journey, shortly after moving house, I decided to drive to the station and leave the car there - I needed to get back for an appointment when my return train got in and wanted the car there to make it on time. Like a good little employee, I submitted my expenses including the car park receipt (£20) which cost significantly more than the usual public transport ticket. Eagerly awaiting re-imbursement, I was disappointed to get an email advising 'as per Travel & Expense policy' I was unable to claim driving related expense without completing a specific 'Driving for work' attestation and supplying updated Car Insurance proving my car was insured (by me, at cost to me personally) for driving for work (NOT commuting, which essentially this was). Fine, I thought.. you know what, you keep that £20, but if we're going to force compliance with the Travel & Expense policy two can play that game. Suddenly, all the 2 hour 52 minute trains were inconvenient, and I had to book different slightly longer 3 hour 4 minute trains... Making them, under the Travel & Expense policy, eligible for First Class travel. Oh, and as my journey time is longer than 3 hours, as per Travel & Expense policy, I'm now eligible for overnight stays... Which of course mean that I can submit expenses for meals as I'm away from home in a hotel for my evening meal (as per the Travel & Expense policy). And then, of course, reasonable travel expenses (as detailed in the Travel & Expense policy) also cover taxis for unsociable hours... So unfortunately that 6:00am bus ride is now a 6:30 Uber, and that late night 10:00pm bus ride when I get home is now also a nice, comfortable Uber. Costing around £40 (or 10 x what I paid myself for public transport tickets). I think I've more than tripled the cost of my having to travel to head office on each trip, purely out of spite over £20, by maliciously complying with the good ol' (yep, you guessed it) Travel & Expense Policy. submitted by /u/ConfusionOwn8378 to r/MaliciousCompliance [link] [comments]

Where do you get travel insurance?
I've looked through the wiki but maybe this is so basic that nobody else needs help? I've read lots of posts and comments indicating that it is very important to have trip insurance but nothing about how or where to get it. I'm assuming this is different than the optional add on at the checkout of every hotel and airline booking page, but rather something you have that covers all parts of the trip together? Is there a special travel insurance vendor or do I ask where I get my home and car insurance? submitted by /u/Substantial_Slip_808 to r/travel [link] [comments]

Best travel insurance for international trip.

Going on holiday without travel insurance, then begging for cash off strangers via local news to cover the cost of medical bills.
Having seen a yet another “begging” story on the local news again today - asking for donations via gofundme to cover medical costs after not taking out travel insurance - can’t help but notice that this seems to be happening more often. Baffles me that people are daft enough to take the risk, just to save a few quid! submitted by /u/D1789 to r/britishproblems [link] [comments]

Best travel insurance in 2025 according to Reddit?
My family and I are gearing up for a once-in-a-lifetime trip — me, my wife, our two kids, and her parents who are both over 70. We’ll be traveling for almost three months, hitting multiple continents. We’re starting off with a cruise in Mexico, spending a few days in Miami, then heading to Europe (Italy and Greece), followed by a safari in Africa, and then off to India, Thailand, Japan, Bali, and wrapping it up with Australia and New Zealand. This trip is everything to us — something we’ve dreamed about for a long time — and it’s taken a lot to make it happen. Because of how complex it is (and how much we’ve invested emotionally and financially), I want to make sure we’re covered if anything unexpected comes up. I’ve been digging into travel insurance options and keep running into names like Allianz, AIG, World Nomads, Travel Guard, Seven Corners, Generali, and Faye. But I’m more interested in hearing what real people have actually experienced. Good service? Fast claims? Nightmares? Also, we’ve heard about “cancel for any reason” coverage — is that actually worth it or just marketing fluff? With kids and elderly parents, we’d rather be safe than sorry, but not looking to throw money away either. If you’ve done a big family trip or had to deal with travel insurance companies before, I’d love to hear what worked, what didn’t, and anything you wish you’d known earlier. Thanks for any advice. submitted by /u/the_tithe to r/TravelInsurance_ [link] [comments]
