I’ve been vegan for 20 years, getting 370g of protein per day as a bodybuilder. Here are 10 of my top protein sources
1. Seitan Made from vital wheat gluten, this wheat-based “meat” is a protein beast, with about 25g of protein per 100g. I like to bake my own, chop it up and add to bowls with rice and veggies, or enjoy in the form of my famous seitan banana bread. 2. Tofu Tofu’s versatility is unmatched. Marinate, bake, scramble, air fry, the options are endless! One block gets you about 40–50g protein. You can even make protein-packed sweet treats with tofu, like chocolate pudding and my high protein tofu “cheesecake.” 3. Tempeh Fermented soy = better digestion + higher protein content than tofu. Slice it thin, marinate, and pan fry for maximum flavor! 4. Edamame Whole edamame is a great way to get in your greens and protein. Toss it into salads or eat with salt as a snack. 5. Edamame Puffs I highly recommend edamame puffs for a satisfying crunch that makes protein on the go easy. Great on top of cream of rice and yogurt bowls, or my chocolate oat “cake”. 6. TVP Budget friendly and shelf stable, TVP is the MVP! TVP is an awesome ground meat substitute and is quick and easy to prepare. 7. Vedge Protein Powder I trust Vedge for a clean, complete powder that blends well and tastes amazing. I use it daily to help hit my protein goals. 8. Green Bites Go They are high-protein desserts that actually taste good. Cookie bars, brownies, cookie sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, protein nut butters, all vegan, gluten-free, and macro-friendly. These satisfy my cravings without throwing me off my plan. 9. Lentil Pasta Swapping your regular pasta for lentil (or chickpea) pasta = double the protein with the same comfort food vibe! 10. Nutritional Yeast Savory, cheesy, and sneakily high in protein. I throw it on potatoes, pasta, salads, anything that needs a flavor boost. Plus, a serving takes care of your daily vitamin B12 needs! If getting enough protein on a vegan diet is something you’re still trying to figure out, the vegan squad is hosting a free online Health & Fitness Summit on March 14th & 15th where we’re going deeper into things like building muscle, losing fat, hitting your protein targets, and even using fitness to advocate for animals. Easy vegan high protein deli slices
I make this for meal prep, I love a wrap for lunch or dinner. 1 block firm tofu (don’t press it) 1.5 cups vital wheat gluten Whatever spices you like, I use veg bullion, miso paste, nooch, garlic & onion powder, smoked paprika & liquid smoke. (You may need to add a little water) Throw everything but the VWG in the food processor, blend until it’s a smooth paste. Then add your VWG & process until it forms a dough ball. Roll it into a log, wrap in foil & steam for 30 mins. For best results refrigerate overnight, then slice! Notes: •Makes 4 good size servings approx 165g in weight each. •I use the big mountain fava bean tofu, because I like the macros, but any type of firm tofu will work. •Can be steamed on the stove or instant pot. I used the latter. •you can change the seasonings to suit your taste. Poultry seasoning is a great option! •since I use use the fava bean tofu, per serving this is 235 cal and a whopping 51g protein! submitted by /u/Easy_King_9818 to r/veganrecipes [link] [comments]

Canadian Oats, Quinoa and Protein powders
In case it might be helpful to anyone, here's a small round-up of some of our recently discovered Canadian products that we've been using in our house. Quinta Quinoa - Canadian-grown quinoa (didn't know we did that!) and a Canadian-owned company. The seeds are smaller than other quinoa, cook up fast and have a lovely, nutty flavour. Bought at Metro (Ontario) One Degree Organic Foods Sprouted Oats - Honestly, the best oats for oatmeal that I've had. Sprouted and gluten-free too, if you need that. Company based in Abbotsford, oats farmed in Alberta. Bought at Metro (Ontario) GoodProtein - I am sure this is well-known - great vegan protein powder and other products too. We've used their subscription service for discount. I also really like their green superfood supplement that they gave out free for signing up to a subscription. Canadian company, Canadian made. Bare Protein - a 100% beef isolate protein powder with just added monk fruit and vanilla. This is a newer brand started by the creator of The Simple Kitchen. It's 100% protein and nothing else. Canadian company, Canadian-made. I found the grains reasonably priced and the protein powders, as you would expect, not cheap, but I do have to say integrating them has helped with some fast meals and has meant then less other food spending and waste. So it's been worth it for our budget (but I get not everyone would be in the same boat with families to feed). *edited for typos - I thought I typed 'oats' and it came out 'oasis' LOL submitted by /u/Whippetastic to r/BuyCanadian [link] [comments]

Protein powder recommendations?
Hi all, I’m trying to find a vegan protein powder I actually enjoy, and I’m quite picky with taste. I would appreciate recommendations. 😊 So far I’ve tried: - Protein works chocolate bueno (I hated it, flavour felt weak and had a weird undertone that made me gag) - Protein works strawberries and cream (absolutely rank, tasted very fake) - Nuzest strawberry (disliked) - Nuzest chocolate (disliked) - Nuzest vanilla (didn’t hate it, but wouldn’t buy it again) - Sci-mx pro v-gain chocolate (hated it) - Sci-mx pro v-gain vanilla (disliked) - Sci-mx pro v-gain raspberry cheesecake (quite enjoyed it, tasted exactly like it said) - Blessed protein vanilla chai (my favourite- the chai notes were very nice and really complemented the vanilla, but unfortunately I can’t seem to get it easily in the UK anymore) submitted by /u/toribrowserr to r/vegan [link] [comments]

Plus, a serving takes care of your daily vitamin B12 needs! submitted by /u/thebodybuildingvegan to r/vegan [link] [comments]

Safe vegan protein powders?
Recent studies have found that some protein powders contain lead in them, unfortunately a lot were vegan, this is the New York Times article: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/14/well/lead-protein-powder.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare I’m wondering if anyone here can recommend a safe alternative? submitted by /u/Historical_Scene4901 to r/vegan [link] [comments]

A Number of Vegan Protein Powders and Shakes Contain High Levels of Lead - Consumer Reports
Unfortunately I've been consuming a serving a day of the Orgain stuff. Plenty of lead in my body now. Ugh. What is the safe alternative here? submitted by /u/here_is_no_end to r/vegan [link] [comments]

I scraped Reddit to find the most recommended vegan protein powders
I pulled comments from over 60+ threads about vegan protein powder, best plant-based proteins, etc. Then I ran sentiment analysis using LLMs to find which brands got the most praise and which faced criticism (see more info on the process at the bottom). Quick note: "highest rated on Reddit" doesn't mean "perfect for you." Consider your fitness goals, dietary restrictions, taste preferences, and budget. Always check ingredients if you have allergies or sensitivities. Here's how I created this list: Scraped 60+ vegan protein powder threads from fitness and vegan subreddits. Many had hundreds of comments. Ran the comments through LLMs (GPT-5 + Gemini 2.5) to identify brand mentions and analyze sentiment. Scoring is based on a system: 70% for positive versus negative mentions, 30% for the positive-to-total mention ratio, and a few other metrics that are too long/boring to mention here. Cleaned up brand variations manually (e.g., "Naked Nutrition" → "Naked Pea"). This method prevents brands with high engagement but mixed reviews from ranking too high. They won't climb the ranks just because people are talking about them a lot. You can find the complete breakdown of data and updated list : https://www.redrecs.com/best-vegan-protein-powder I'd love your feedback on this! submitted by /u/LoneKnight25 to r/veganfitness [link] [comments]

Actually good protein powder?
Most vegan protein powders are ass. Recently I had Weider’s cookie flavor. I had to like train myself to not gag and it ruined my otherwise really tasty oatmeal🥲 So, any recs for some good protein powders? I’ve been curious about clear protein… submitted by /u/AmIn1amh to r/veganfitness [link] [comments]

High vegan protein / 200 g day of eating🌱💪
Do you need 200g of protein per day? No, probably not. Our needs are unique and depend on our body stats, goals, and lifestyle. As for me, I’ve found this to be the sweet spot for where I’m at right now on my fitness journey. I’m in a slight caloric deficit and making sure to get more than enough protein so my body has a steady stream of amino acids to pull from for musculature. Below is what a day of eating looks like for me to hit that protein goal 🌱💪 Meal 1 - Overnight oats, 75 grams dry oats mixed with 1 cup ripple protein milk, 4 ounces of fruit and one scoop protein powder. Meal 2- Two slices Dave’s killer bread, vegan boca burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, 3 oz avocado and sugar-free ketchup/mustard. Meal 3 post-workout- 2 scoops /42 grams of Vegainz banana protein. Meals 4 & 5- @bigmountainfoods fava bean based tofu, 1/2 block, 200 g jasmine rice, 350 g broccoli/mixed stirfry veg with Braggs liquid amino acids and @ghughessugarfree stir-fry sauce. Meal 6- Snack, PBFit powder / 4 tbsp reconstituted with sugar-free maple syrup smeared on two rice cakes. Daily total 📊Calories 2590, protein 201, carbs 352, fats 42, fiber 71. submitted by /u/Conscious_Muscle_ to r/veganfitness [link] [comments]

What's your preferred, clean, high protein powder?
Hi, I'd love to hear what everyone's preferred is. I know there's a few of these posts, but they're all kinda old, lol. Preferences: - I'd like something not chalky, but high protein. I mostly use a blender so I expect it be able to mostly dissolve. - Limited to none artificial sweeteners. They tend to just make my stomach nauseous. - Open to unflavored since I usually mix with fruit or coffee. - Not too stressed about the calories since I use it as a meal replacement most of the time, but would still prefer to keep it lower. Lastly, has anyone tried the Huel powders? Theoretically, they look like a nice concept for me, since I don't have time to cook most of the time, but they look like they'd be chalky af. Recommendations for a vegan protein powder please 🙏
Preferably one I can mix with water as I don’t drink the plant based milks. Ideally needs to be IBS friendly so not Huel (I tried it and had a terrible flare up). Any suggestions? Thank you. submitted by /u/RabbitRabbit77 to r/veganuk [link] [comments]
