How long did it take to get your iron up to normal?
I found out today(15weeks preg with 4th baby) that I have low iron. I was given floradix and vitamin C to supplement and I know the foods I should try to eat. However this past week my exhaustion has returned and I'd love to finally move past it! Curious how long it took others to feel the difference after starting a supplement. Thanks

Sharing my underarm whitening journey 🤩
Context: For years my UA isn’t maitim naman but there are spots talaga na parang there’s hyperpigmentation. Sometimes i’d get irritation bumps rin from waxing/shaving. Sorry i don’t have a before but trust na it isn’t as pretty as now 💕 Products i used: 1)The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner - For starters, use this only once a week to build tolerance. People tend to say na “pwede naman 2x a week” but our UA kase is a sensitive part of our body. Better to be safe than sorry. When i noticed the slight improvements already after 4 weeks, i shifted my routine to 2x a week. Make sure to use this after you’re fresh from the shower and your UA is dry talaga! Tho in general Glycolic Acid is Hydrophilic or water-loving, we don’t want that in this case!! Contact with water increases its permeability. And our kili-kili is very sensitive. We don’t want the harsher version of it when applied to our UA. 2) Moisturizer - yes guys!! Di lang mukha minomoisturize 🤩 i apply moisturizer everyday for my UA. As simple as possible na walang other Acids sa ingredients. I use the Cetaphil Moisturizer cream. On days where i use Glycolic Acid, I make sure that the Glycolic Acid is complete dry before applying moisturizer. 3) Vitamin C - After almost 4 months of consistent Glycolic Acid use, i really noticed the improvements but i wanted an even more bright kili-kili (Maarte ako eh HAHAHAHA) so i incorporated Vitamin C to my routine 🥹 Make sure you use a gentler Vitamin C and not the pure one. I use the Equalberry Vitamin C serum . I started using it 1x a week only kase even though the equalberry is deemed gentler, i was being careful parin as to not irritate the UA. After 4 weeks i shifted it to 2x a week. On the Third month, when i already saw my desired results, i only use it once a week nalang Make sure you don’t use it the same day as you use your actives such as Glycolic Acid 4) Niacinamide - Gotta get rid of that bumps!! I use Niacinamide together with Vitamin C. Not a common brand for UA but it worked wonders for me. I used the Beauty of Joseon Propolis + Niacinamide. It got rid of the bumps talaga. Vitamin C + Niacinamide + lock it in with a moisturizer 5) Celimax Vita-A Retinal shot - game changer!! Since i already achieved white underarms, there are stubborn spots talaga sa Kili-Killers natin who can’t seem to go away evenly HUHU so i use this once a week to spot correct. After 3 months of consistent use, my Kili-Kili is as kinis as it is now 💗 6) Deodorant - i don’t use one everyday but the Belo Intense Whitening is really hiyang sa UA ko. I don’t use it everyday since i moisturize naman and the Glycolic Acid really does help with BO. I use it lang whenever i go out as to not perspire. When you’ve already achieved the White Underarm you desire, Maintenance nalang girlies! pls don’t overdo it! Our Kili-Kili is very sensitive. Tapper usage to once a week nalang except for the moisturizer which is everyday talaga. Hope this helps 🤩 Update: I wax my UA probs once every 2 weeks. I use sugar wax from Hunnywax ⭐️ I avoid using products 2 days after waxing (yes, even deo haha). For questions on ingrown hairs, Glycolic acid is already a chemical exfoliant which helps with it. Don’t do mechanical exfoliation such as rubbing/scrubbing if you’re using actives such as Glycolic/Salicylic Acid. It’ll just irritate your UA. Planning on investing din sa Diode laser soon YAY. Also, invest din on a good diet, hydration, and add supplements such as Omega 3 and Vit C, antioxidants to improve skin turnover. I achieved this UA for almost a year din. i was also being careful on the products i introduced that’s why the frequency is fewer as compared to others. I avoided introducing another product immediately as much as possible to not irritate my underarms. Some of the products i used might not work for others but i think it’s worth sharing parin 🥹 skin care in general is a trial and error process to see what works for you. patience is a virtue and it was so worth it! Megadose Vitamin C (1 week update)
You know me from this post : https://www.reddit.com/r/Supplements/s/V1OTtSWSHe NOTE: Unfortunately, I cannot take vitamin C for another week because I will be in another city 700km by car in hot weather, and ascorbic acid might be oxidised plus I don't think the experiment will be different if I take it another week Key Points: 1- I was taking sodium ascorbate (5g ascorbic acid powder - 2-2.5g sodium bicarbonate, in 400ml water) 2- I was studying for the midterm 3- I didn't report daily because I don't want a placebo or too much variability In 7 days, 5g sodium ascorbate The GOOD: 1- For starters it was euphoric but gradually disappeared but still gives a feeling of joy for some reason , I was thinking am I imagining that but there is many says the same 2- Without a doubt, it's like an anti-fatigue compound When I study for hours my head is HEAVY I need to lay down to relax a bit (not tension, heaviness), but with 5g vitamin C, I don't feel ANY heaviness. What stops me from continuing is that even tho i can read, nothing registers in my brain after 2 3 hours straight of studying like a zombie who can run for days but can't understand anything 3- I can get immersed in whatever I do more easily than before. Do you experience the flow state? Yeah, I didn’t feel it unless I was playing video games, especially FPS. But now I find myself, if I do anything for a couple of minutes straight without distraction, I can lose myself and keep going without feeling the time. The BAD: 1- I can't say it's insomnia more like I'm not tired yet. Usually, my sleep is from 9-10PM, I'm in bed now, it's 11 12 and I'm not that tired! , It really ruins my schedule because my routine is waking up at 5-6am What's funny I take all my vitamin C in the morning but the effects are almost a full day 2- better memory recall was just in days 2-3, unfortunately 3- It's kinda hard to balance high-dose vitamin C while eating carbs I was eating a high-carb breakfast then after 2-3 hours till my insulin goes down then I take 5g vitamin C, If I didn't do that, the GLUT transporter will compete and Glucose will always win and I want all vitamin C to be absorbed THE JUDGMENT: 1- Was I deficient in the first place? Maybe... maybe not, in the past I was taking 1g daily never did anything to me only 4 5 6 grams was different 2- did you experience Diarrhea? only on day 2 or 3 when I took 5g+5g, but when I went back to normal dosing 5g it disappeared completely no GI stress 3- What dosing protocol would you continue with? Probably basic 1g capsule 3 times a day to not miss up my sleep schedule not because of the absorption maybe one day I might get ultrasonic cleaner and make Liposomal vitamin C just for curiosity if I eliminate the absorbation limit and take more vitamin C 10 20 grams what will I expect/achieve 4- sleep? Sleep quality I don't feel any changes but the most noticeable one i wake up less groggy because vitamin C helps in regulating cortisol levels maybe because of that or something else submitted by /u/PinkSlep to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

Megadose Vitamin C solved my problem!
Hi, I will try to make this as short as possible I'm not new to megadosing vitamins and I research a lot (I mean A LOT) Some megadosing of other vitamins like ( D3, K2, Magnesium, and niacin) fixes some of my problems completely or partially and sometimes my body says "F U I will not do anything" But the only thing I've been battling for years that I still can't solve is why my energy and drive to do anything is so unpredictable that no amount of willpower will make me continue my work Then the spark ignited " wait a minute I already researched vitamin C extensively why did I forget about it" To not talk about vitamin C all day let's note two things Without vitamin C, you cannot will not synthesise dopamine and norepinephrine (norepinephrine is VERY important) Vitamin C is the PRIMARY rate-limiting factor for the synthesis of dopamine & norepinephrine with beta-hydroxylase (DBH) What does it mean? It means that no matter how many amino acids you have, mainly l-tyrosine*, it is Vitamin C that enables the body to make dopamine and norepinephrine is Vitamin C. Also, the body converts dopamine to norepinephrine and YOU NEED BOTH Let's look at the symptoms of low levels of both of them Dopamine: Lack of Motivation: Struggling to start tasks or feeling zero drive to accomplish goals. Anhedonia: An inability to feel pleasure or satisfaction from activities you usually enjoy. Chronic Fatigue: A deep, unshakeable physical and mental tiredness. Poor Focus: Difficulty concentrating, easily losing your train of thought, or general "brain fog." Motor Issues: In more severe deficiencies, this can manifest as muscle stiffness, tremors, or restless legs. Low Libido Out of 6 I had 5 , Libido is normal Now let's see norepinephrine: Orthostatic Hypotension: Dizziness, lightheadedness, or seeing stars when standing up quickly (due to the blood vessels not constricting fast enough). Lethargy: Feeling physically heavy, slow, or constantly exhausted. Alertness Issues: Difficulty waking up in the morning, staying awake, or reacting quickly to stimuli. Memory and Attention Deficits: Trouble retrieving memories, retaining new information, or staying vigilant. Apathy and Mood Drops: While low dopamine feels like a lack of pleasure, low norepinephrine often feels like a flat, depressed, or apathetic mood. Out of 5 I had 5! Same symptoms same description That hypo feeling when it's gone, I was surprised because no amount of sodium potassium will fix it so I was thinking that must be norepinephrine and it was! Dosing: I take it as sodium ascorbate made by mixing a 2:1 ratio of ascorbic acid powder + sodium bicarbonate It will bubble keep mixing till there is no chemical reaction Max dose is the one that doesn't cause diarrhoea For me 5g, some ppl can take even more Day 1 5g I wasn't feeling much slightly better Day 2 5g I felt "I am awake" after a couple of hours I took another 5g and then... My mind is clear, I can recall way better effortlessly without squeezing my brain to remember I don't have that heavy feeling when doing anything especially things that are not interesting like washing dishes I don't know how to describe it as I feel it Everything in the symptoms above is gone Note: vitamin C do many things in the body like collagen production, blood vessel health, l-carnitine synthesis, and much more but for my case, it was neurotransmitter synthesis issues Edit: Thank you all of you. I really love discussing everything about the human body, whether I agree or disagree in the comments I will continue taking at least 5g and write what I feel for at least a week or two and give an update in this post For those who want it Edit: April 5 2025, for those who want update, I will continue but I will make it a different post in the same sub and put the link right here, don't worry Even if the experiment goes beautifully or not, we are here to help & learn from each other Edit: 1 week update https://www.reddit.com/r/Supplements/s/ZlnonNYx06 submitted by /u/PinkSlep to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

What kind of vitamins and supplements do you take?
obviously personal experiences only and no medical advice, I'm just curious. My provider takes kind of a holistic view, and encourages me to take certain supplements in addition to my psych meds (I take a mood stabilizer and a stimulant) for two reasons: I have trouble eating enough to get all my nutrition from food, and my mood cycles are very strongly influenced by my health (hydration, sleep, blood sugar, inflammation, hormone cycles etc). Currently I supplement with a multivitamin, fish oil, b-complex with vitamin c, and magnesium. Wondering if other people take supplements and if so, which ones you feel you respond positively to? submitted by /u/voidpics to r/BipolarReddit [link] [comments]

[misc] Anyone else feel like Vitamin C may as well be the sugar pill of skincare?
I've been into skincare for a long time, absolutely love reading about the science of different actives and ingredients, and over time have found several ones that noticeably work for me - niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, AHAs/BHAs, retinoids, ceramides. I've also found some that absolutely DON'T work for me (bless your heart, dimethicone). However nothing has puzzled me like vitamin C. In the 10+ years I've been hyper-fixated on skincare, I've seen so many studies, reviews, etc. about the wonders of vitamin c for brightening, lightening dark spots, and generally evening skin tone. When I tell you I have tried every single derivative from the Mississippi to South Korea though... I've gone expensive (SkinCeuticals). I've gone mid-range (Timeless). I've gone single-ingredient derivatives from TO and others. I've tried pure ascorbic acid powder mixed with serums, I've even dabbled in DIY skincare with multiple formulations from classic recipes to full-blown science experiments with trademarked vitamin C matrixes. Once a day, twice a day, thrice a day even (not my best idea. I truly don't think I've ever seen a benefit. My main issue is sun damage (le dark spots) and I know that's a fickle problem to work with, however at this point I know how to spot when an active is working because I've seen it happen with other ones. But zilch with Vitamin C. I feel like I'm crazy. This is one of the most studied actives in OTC skincare. I believe the science. And l've seen the results people have, which I'm extremely envious of. So l've kept using it...all this time. But I think I'm finally at a point where it just feels unnecessary and pointless for me. Is there anyone out there like me? What is wrong with my skin??? submitted by /u/pmmemassivedongs to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Are we taking our vitamins/supplements?
Disclaimer: This thread is not medical advice. Anyone thinking of adding vitamins and supplements should consult their doctor or pharmacist before doing so. I'm trying to make a handful of vitamins a part of my daily routine. I don't get enough nutrition in my diet. I take B, C & D vitamins and magnesium. I'm the worst at taking them daily but after a few days I feel so normal. No aches or pains and everything just seems to work better. It's not quite the "fountain of youth" but sure does help me feel less like I'm in my 40s. Are you taking your vitamins folks? submitted by /u/Cristinky420 to r/Xennials [link] [comments]

High-dose vitamin C has been shown to protect lungs from air pollution damage
New research suggests that high doses of vitamin C could help shield lungs from the harmful effects of fine particulate air pollution known as PM2.5. In experiments led by scientists at the University of Technology Sydney, male mice and lab-grown human lung tissues exposed to PM2.5 were either given vitamin C or left untreated. The tissues that received vitamin C showed reduced mitochondrial damage, lower inflammation, and less oxidative stress—key cellular processes through which PM2.5 contributes to conditions such as asthma and lung cancer. Because vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, the findings indicate it may blunt some of the biological damage triggered by these tiny pollution particles. The study also underscored that even relatively low levels of PM2.5—similar to those found across much of the developed world—can cause dramatic cellular harm, reinforcing growing evidence that there is no truly safe level of air pollution. While the authors and outside experts emphasize the need for further research in humans, they suggest that vitamin C supplementation, at the highest safe dose for an individual, could become a low-cost preventive strategy for people at high risk of exposure, such as those living with chronic respiratory disease or in heavily polluted environments. However, they stress that individuals should consult a healthcare professional before increasing supplementation and that improving air quality remains the most important long-term solution. submitted by /u/soulpost to r/HotScienceNews [link] [comments]

MUST read - It takes vitamin c to create dopamine and norepinephrine - the honey moon will return. You're probably depleted from Wellbutrin or were even before you started it. Here is my experience and medical facts.
WHY DONT THE DOCTORS tell us this!?! I've been suffering and I didn't have to be simply because of vitamin c. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK568561/figure/fig7_3/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3527656/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11018153/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3449284/ Here are national institute of health government proof since I immediately got negative reply for using chatgpt to make it easier to digest than a complicated worded study I recently learned that the body uses vitamin C to create what wellbutrin triggers the body to create more dopamine and norepinephrine. It literally has to have it to make it enough to keep you balanced. I hit a period where Wellbutrin stopped working. After 150 xl stopped working, got ramped up to 300 then it stopped working. I did a lot of research and by chance I stumbled on to vitamin C protocols. I feel so much better now doing a niacin 100mg flush and lipomosal vitamin C dose twice a day. First week you should take it 3x a day. You can get it on Amazon. I now feel 150XL better than the 300xl I was on. It actually works better now than it did the first month I started it. It's a game changer. Here's some information Vitamin C plays a key supportive role in the synthesis of dopamine and norepinephrine, which are the very neurotransmitters affected by Wellbutrin (bupropion). Here’s how it connects, especially in the context of Wellbutrin use: Vitamin C and Catecholamine Synthesis Dopamine and norepinephrine are part of a group called catecholamines. The body makes them in a multi-step process: Tyrosine → L-DOPA → Dopamine → Norepinephrine Vitamin C is a required cofactor for the enzyme dopamine β-hydroxylase, which converts dopamine into norepinephrine. Without enough vitamin C, this step slows down, potentially lowering norepinephrine levels. Antioxidant Protection of Neurotransmitters Vitamin C helps protect dopamine and norepinephrine from oxidative breakdown. Both neurotransmitters are highly sensitive to oxidative stress. Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals and helps preserve the function and lifespan of these critical chemicals. Wellbutrin’s Role and Vitamin C Wellbutrin boosts dopamine and norepinephrine by inhibiting their reuptake. This means it increases how much of these neurotransmitters remain active in the brain. But if your body can’t synthesize enough dopamine or norepinephrine (due to poor nutrition or low vitamin C), Wellbutrin has less raw material to work with. Over time, this could blunt the medication’s effectiveness or cause mood instability. Other Considerations Vitamin C deficiency has been linked with symptoms like fatigue, irritability, and low mood, which can mimic or worsen depression. Long-term stress, smoking, and medications like stimulants or antidepressants may increase the body’s need for vitamin C. Summary: Why It Matters With Wellbutrin Vitamin C helps your brain make norepinephrine from dopamine. It protects both from damage. Wellbutrin relies on these neurotransmitters being available to work. Low vitamin C = less neurotransmitter synthesis + more oxidative stress = worse mood and lower medication effectiveness. If you’re feeling flat or like Wellbutrin is fading, checking vitamin C intake or supplementing (especially liposomal vitamin C) would be immensely important for you to rebound back to feeling better again. I started my first week taking 4g by 3 doses a day with my meals. It's a game changer. So much so I'm wondering if this was the issue all along even before Wellbutrin. I was able to cut my dose in half and still feel better than the higher dose without using lipomosal vitamin c. This could change your life and I wanted to share as I see many people confused and suffering with mental health here. Also look into niacin, which is b3 vitamin. I hope this helps you as much as it has me. I've had many people now I know make this chsnge and they're shocked at how fast things change for them. I think the majority of us are very depleted, especially after months and years of Wellbutrin depleting these areas. Get it back! My "honeymoon" phase is back better than ever and it hasn't faded at all. If you keep going up in your Wellbutrin dose you're just depleting your system from vital chemicals and nutrients, you can get it back working without raising your dose. When you feel overstimulated from this medicine Wellbutrin make sure you do cardio to burn off the excess dopamine and norepinephrine in your blood. It helps immensely to feel more clear headed and less overwhelmed by it. It'll help keep the energy and motivation but dull the anxious energy feeling. Good luck I hope this helps many! Edit: it must be mega doses of LIPOMOSAL vitamin C. Typically 1600mg per dose 3-4 times a day first week, then after that before every meal, breakfast lunch dinner. submitted by /u/FlyAdventurous6231 to r/Wellbutrin_Bupropion [link] [comments]

Vitamin C megadose changing my life?
Hello, so I have several health issues that started appearing around 2 years ago (I'm 25 years old). The first of which being tinnitus, and an intense nerve pain that radiated in both my feet and hands, numbness and pain. I also have candida which is a fungal infection and causes a white biofilm on the tongue. I'm also prediabetic, but my blood sugar isn't even close to be causing me all these symptoms like diabetic neuropathy. The past 2 years have been a very dark time in my life, I've lost all my self confidence and spent most of this time feeling sorry for myself. The intense nerve damage and ringing in my ear has made me want to take my own life several times. I tried many things to change this, thyroid drugs, vitamins, gluten free diet/low carb/low fat, antioxidants, countless doctor visits trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I've also had intense PAIN in my neck, and back, stiffness and massive inflammation across my entire body which crippled me from having any form of social life. I've managed to do a few things to lower the amount of damage happening to my body and symptoms on a daily basis (Intermittent fasting and things related to lowering insulin resistance) but none have been as effective as my recent discovery. So I've actually been taking vitamin C (Absorbic acid) for a while now, but up until recently I decided to up the dose from my previous 2g to 3g. I felt nothing after increasing the dose for a while, so I thought why not up the dose 1 more gram to see what would happen to my body. So the next day I decided to take 4g of absorbic acid with my first meal of the day (when I break my fast). As if by magic within the next 2 hours I felt something I haven't felt in a long time, I was pain free! The difference between the 3g to 4g was night and day; It was bizzare because 3g did nothing for me but the extra gram of absorbic acid seemed to be doing some crazy work for my intense chronic inflammation. My pain must of went (from a scale of 1-10), from a 8-9 to a 3. I honestly couldn't believe it, I would have intense pain in my ankles when I walked which went way down after doing this. On top of this all, I seem to be in a MUCH better mood, and the dizziness/vertigo issue that I had before seems to be way better and rarely gets in the way anymore. I'm thinking of upping the dose to 6g, but there is only one issue is that I feel like I'm detoxing, it's not a crazy side effect compared to the issues I had before but I do notice I'm a little more tired since upping the dose to 4g. Oh yeah.. and the tinnitus is not gone but it's reduced darastically. I have a couple questions, does anyone know the mechanism behind this and why vitamin c seems to be really helping my "mystery disease" or whatever I have going on in my body? Also, how come the difference between 3g to 4g of vitamin c seems to be so significant in terms of symptom relief? Would I benefit even more if I upped the dose to 6-15g? Thank you all! submitted by /u/mark_Wizza97 to r/Supplements [link] [comments]
