How Are We Supposed to Do All This in One Day? Sleep 8 hours. Work another 8. Commute. Walk 10,000 steps. Eat clean. Cook. Meditate. Stay social. Keep your place clean. Do laundry. Shower. Repeat. And somehow… still feel like you’re falling behind. The Silent Pressure No one says it out loud, but it’s there. The expectation that: - you should be productive - healthy - disciplined - social - and mentally at peace Every. Single. Day. Miss one thing? You feel like you’re slipping. Miss a few? You start questioning yourself. The Reality No One Talks About This “perfect routine” isn’t real. It’s a highlight reel made from: - productivity videos - fitness influencers - self-improvement content All stitched together into one unrealistic standard. ⚖️ The Trap You’re not failing because you’re lazy. You’re overwhelmed because: you’re trying to live multiple ideal lives at once. The gym version of you The career-focused version The social version The calm, mindful version All competing for the same 24 hours. The Gap We don’t lack time. We lack clarity on what actually matters today. Because trying to do everything daily = doing nothing well consistently. It's nasty sharing a bed with a dog
Sharing a bed with a dog can be kind of nasty because even if they look clean, dogs still bring in dirt, bacteria, and whatever they stepped in outside, and that all ends up in your sheets and pillow. They sometimes drool as well. They also shed dander and fur that can build up and trigger allergies or just make your bed less clean overall. On top of that, dogs don’t really have the same hygiene routines humans do, so they can carry fleas, ticks, or other stuff without you noticing. You can wipe them down, but you can’t completely eliminate all of that every single day because bathing a dog daily agitates their skin. submitted by /u/junisea to r/unpopularopinion [link] [comments]

My recent routine Well Woman's exam highlighted everything wrong with women specific Healthcare
You'll read post after post on this subreddit about painful pap smears or pelvic exams that border on (or are straight up) sexual abuse. I've learned my lessons over the years. Primary care physicians who don't normally do paps always give painful exams. Just because they are a woman doesn't mean that they'll automatically be good. It was my time for a new pap test and chose a provider that I thought would be good. I'm in my early 30s and wanted to talk about reoccurring UTIs and my recently irregular periods as well as birth control options (after years of not being on anything, I wanted to stop being surprised by a period with a mind of its own and get some relief from extremely painful menstrual cramps). After being called in for my appointment, the nurse asked if I wanted to empty my bladder before the appointment. I told her I did and asked if they needed a urine sample. The nurse said no, they would not unless I was having UTI symptoms. I then told the nurse that I had had about 10 UTIs in the past two years and was given a cup. When I returned to the exam room from the restroom, the nurse looked at me and said "take off your shirt. I need to take your blood pressure." It was the first and only time I had ever been asked to remove clothing for a blood pressure reading. I was wearing long sleeves but my shirt was loose. I raised the sleeve and said "here". The nurse looked at me and frowned for a second. She started to argue with but finally said "okay fine." After she read my blood pressure, she proceeded to ask me a series of questions like if I had ever been sexually abused (was she really expecting me to answer these serious questions topless or would she have allowed me to put my shirt back on?). She also asked me what kind of birth control I was on and I replied none. Later, in my after appointment summary, she wrote that I *used* no birth control. That was not the question she asked. She asked me what I was on, which would have implied a pill, a patch or an implant. My partner and I used condoms. I was never asked what method I used. The nurse then rudely said "you've never had a pap smear before?" I explained that I had. The nurse was skeptical. Why didn't they have my records? I explained that I was new to the state and the hospital system and that I didn't feel the need to get my tests sent over since I had never had an abnormal pap. She scoffed and seemed skeptical. I mentioned my irregular periods and my UTIs and she left, instructioning me to get changed into a robe that, despite being several sizes too big, would not stay shut unless I grasped the front with two hands. Instead of a doctor, my provider for the day was a physician's assistant. To her credit, she didn't leave me sitting in the robe for long. I talked to the PA about my irregular periods and she noted it down but did not ask about them. I told her I was interested in birth control but not an IUD because my body had expelled two of them. Even though I had literally just said I did not want an IUD, she told me that she would book an OR for my next insertion-- not that she could if I was interested in revisiting an IUD but that should *would*. I explained that I had had the hormones in IUDs before and that I had suffered extreme side effects. She then said that she believed it would be a good option for me. My response was silence before she skipped to the next topic: future children. Would I be interested in having children in the future? The truth was, I wasn't sure. But I knew from past encounters with doctors that they would take health concerns more seriously if I had pregnancy on my mind. So I said, yes, I wanted to know if it would even be a possibility for me and if so, did I have time to wait? She looked at me and said "you mean like fertility?" "Yes," I confirmed. She looked at me for a second with a stunned expression on her face. "That is not my priority as a clinician. Right now, my priority is preventing pregnancy." And suddenly, I felt so embarrassed. I was sitting there, clutching my chest, making sure I wasn't going to flash the doctor in this stupid robe. My big medical question was shut down. Was I going through pre mature ovarian failure? It wasn't unheard of even at the age of 33. I had hoped any tests to be ordered before I started on a new pill. But in the moment, I just felt stupid for even asking. I shut up and let the doctor proceed with the exam. After the appointment, a new result appeared in myChart. Pregnancy: negative. We had never discussed a pregnancy test. Two months later, a new message appeared in myChart. Could I leave a urine sample for a urinalysis so that I could be evaluated for possible causes for my UTIs? I wasn't assaulted. I didn't leave in pain. But I still felt that I was robbed of my autonomy and agency. Everything from asking me to take my shirt off for a blood pressure reading to the dismissal of my health concerns to the unexpected and unauthorized pregnancy test. It was a reminder that I was not a full human, that others felt like they knew better than me, and that I could not get clarity on things that were bothering me. What would happen if I was pregnant? I can only imagine that I would be even less of a person and have even less agency in a Healthcare setting. submitted by /u/Empty_Technology672 to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

Product recommendations?
My 9yo has long, extremely thick blond hair. I do two Dutch braids every 1-2 days, because it’s too hot/heavy for her to wear it down and also gets matted quickly if she does (she’s an active kid!). Routine: We wash once a week with OGX extra strength coconut miracle oil shampoo and conditioner. Then for a leave in I use either Mayoliva Intensive conditioning (which a stylist recommended but often feels too heavy?) or Orbis Essence In Hair Milk. We let it air dry overnight in one (very) loose braid (silk pillowcase, she won’t wear a bonnet), and then when I brush it out during the week for re-braids I use either more Orbis, or Hask argan oil 5-in-1 leave in spray, or Johnson & Johnson No More Tangles spray which I’ve been using her whole life and still works well. I’m looking for leave in conditioner/refresh products because what we have now either feel too heavy or not moisturizing enough. I do brush it every time I rebraid but try to get it at least damp first. Photo 1: brushed out between braids Photo 2: post trim/diffuse/styling at salon Photo 3: at home styling for a school event—half up top bun, curl cream on the bottom Photo 4: to show the thickness of one braid, but usually I do two Dutch braids ETA I have a feeling it would be even curlier if I wasn’t always brushing/braiding it, or if it were shorter/more layered, but those are no-gos for her right now submitted by /u/Dry-Constant6236 to r/curlyhair [link] [comments]

My upstairs neighbor does her "wellness routine" at 5:30am and apparently I'm the problem for mentioning it
I work from home and my schedule is pretty flexible so I usually go to bed around midnight and wake up around 8. Been doing this for two years with no issues, previous upstairs neighbor was a quiet older guy, barely heard him exist. New neighbor moved in about 6 weeks ago. Within the first week I started getting woken up at 5:30am by what I can only describe as a series of thuds, dragging sounds and occasional loud claps. Every. Single. Morning. At first I thought maybe she was just getting settled, moving furniture around while unpacking. Nope. Six weeks in, still going strong at 5:31am on the dot. I knocked on her door last Tuesday, super friendly, introduced myself properly, brought it up as nicely as I could. She smiled and explained that she does yoga and "somatic movement" every morning and that it's a core part of her mental health routine. Okay fine, I get that. I just asked if maybe she could put down a mat or shift it to like 7am. Her response was that 5:30 is "her sacred time" and that she's been doing this routine for four years and she won't change it for anyone. Then she actully said that maybe I should "examine why I'm so dependent on sleeping in" and that an earlier wake up might benefit my own wellness. I went back downstairs and lay there listening to the clapping at 5:32am thinking about her wellness advice. Building management said they cant do much since it's within quiet hours technically. Apparently somatic movement doesn't count as noise. Cool cool cool. submitted by /u/KairoxBeacon to r/neighborsfromhell [link] [comments]

Routine wellness shampoo and conditioner
So I tried this for the first time the day before yesterday, and I thought it decreased my hair fall while in the shower. Unfortunately, I'm assuming it's the oils in it, it caused a flareup of sebderm towards the back of my head. I'm wondering if adding keto or a different dandruff shampoo as like the 2nd wash would help with that or basically take away all the effort from the routine wellness dht blocking 🤔 Maybe also as a 2nd wash my hair would be less oily too, since unfortunately that happened too. submitted by /u/MessAlternative6698 to r/FemaleHairLoss [link] [comments]

These kids are being raised by parents with zero boundaries
An interaction I had with a 15 year old today: Him: "So why were you off yesterday?" Me: "I had a doctor's appointment. But it's not really any of your business." Him: "Well, just a suggestion, but it might be a good idea to schedule those things in such a way that they don't require taking time off work. Just saying." I just ignored it and walked away. But this is routine with this manipulative shit. Is he disruptive? Not at all, but I would gladly take that over his smarmy, unwanted commentary that I receive on a daily basis. Where does a 15 year old even get the gumption to talk to an adult that way? I would have been mortified to speak to an adult in such a manner when I was his age. submitted by /u/Due_Information_1332 to r/Teachers [link] [comments]

Routine Wellness Shampoo/Conditioner
I started using it a few months ago for about 3 weeks, felt I was loosing more hair and quit. But…I’ve stared shedding again and decided to start again. It’s my 3rd wash (I have curly hair and only wash every few days) and had a bunch of shedding today in the shower (I don’t brush my hair and it’s been a few days since I washed so not totally surprised). My question is - how long before you noticed it “working”? I ordered mixodinal and got scared to take it with the “dread shred” it causes and the amount of chemicals. I did order the new supplement to start to take and the scalp care too. I’m perimenopausal, PCOS, started a new job, etc. I’m scared and looking for something positive to look forward to. submitted by /u/MostWin6654 to r/finethinhair [link] [comments]

Routine Wellness shampoo?
Does anyone else use Routine Wellness shampoo? I bought it as it has many positive reviews for thinning hair but I am yet to see results and don’t know if I was ‘influenced’ by ads. It’s been about three weeks and I have two bottles so I will keep on with it but it would be nice to hear any anecdotes. Update: I’ve been using for four months now and I can say that I’d recommend this 100%. I didn’t see a difference after four weeks when I posted this but I have definitely noticed less fall. I used to pick hair from my brush every few days and I can’t say I’ve had to much at all for a few months. I just didn’t realise! Update 2 sept 2025: just wanted to follow up to say I have been using consistently for a year and to give the results I am finding. It’s fantastic. My hair has never felt thicker. I have barely any fall at all. I have done research and found it contains a DHT blocking oil- palmetto- which essentially stops the hormone from shrinking the hair folicle. Some replies have said their hair is worse but I can only speak from my experience. ETA: Some people are commenting that it doesn’t make your hair thicker. That’s not what they claim. It about having less hair fall so it can be its best self. Not a thicker version or your natural hair. submitted by /u/CriticalElk6102 to r/finethinhair [link] [comments]

Soon, our phones will be able to set our reminders without our inputs, based on monitoring our routines and activities. Eventually, we'll get so used to our phones telling us what to do, we'll stop thinking independently and just do what we're told. And that's how robots will take over the world.
