Just wanna share my joy of using these earbuds in the last couple of days. I live in a neighborhood with quite a lot of noise pollution. While the overall sound scene here is pretty quiet, there are a lot of ignorant people who can turn on an unreasonably loud music, drive cars and superbikes with intentionally loud exhausts, while their dogs are barking on the balconies etc., so the contrast between these highs and lows is very disturbing. Yesterday, during one of those cacophony attacks on my ears, I went to the local store and got myself Airpods. And oh god I just immediately fell in love with them. The ANC is just insane. I barely put them out of my ears now. Working on the PC, listening to youtube or music, watching movies, playing games (including Steam Deck), I use them for everything now. Even though I have an amazing pair of audiophile over-ear headphones (FiiO ft1), the benefit of ANC makes me choose Airpods over them almost every time + the sound is not that far behind, it's actually more than good. Compared to Galaxy Buds Pro that I had before, they're a few levels above in terms of everything – sound, comfort, touch control, ANC, latency (especially while pairing with iphone). Nobody cares, plenty of other reviews out there, but here are my initial impressions of AirPods Pro 3 after a couple days. Bought these hoping for an upgrade from my JBL Live Pro 2 TWS which I’ve had for a few years, and been pretty happy with. Fit: I found the JBLs to be pretty comfortable but did begin to fatigue my ears after a couple hours. The AirPods feel almost weightless, can barely feel them at all…significantly better. Sound Quality: I find the sound quality is pretty similar, with the AirPods having a bit better “spacial” / “surround sound” sensation. Case: I do find the JBL case easier to open with one hand, and will sit open on a table as the lid is on the long side rather than the short side. I find the ear buds are easier to grab from the JBL case, as I can grab the earbud “tail” rather than the “head”. While both cases are similar in size, AirPods is a bit larger though significantly thinner. The thinner profile of the AirPod case means it fits in my pocket much better. Battery: Hard to compare battery life, since the JBL are older/well used. I had noticed decline in their battery life. I typically have to charge once a week, get lots of hours of use. So far, the AirPods seem like they run thru battery a bit quicker, but still enough for my needs. As far as charging, I was impressed how quickly the AirPods got the bulk of charge completed. Noise cancellation: I thought the JBLs were pretty good; but the AirPods are WAY better. The JBL have a bit of white noise hum with no music playing, the AirPods are just silent. Riding a bike, much less wind noise. On the train: dead silent. Random loud noises, keyboard typing, etc: significantly muffled. But, the ability for it to easily/automatically switch to an ambient mode when someone talks to you is nice as well. Phone calls/Conversation mode: the “transparency”/“ambient aware” mode of the AirPod is WAY better. With JBL your own voice is muffled/feels like talking with earplugs in. The AirPods hearing your own voice sounds normal. iPhone Integration: Obviously, so much better. The JBLs were basically just a Bluetooth device while the AirPods are part of the ecosystem. Recently I got my hands on Iphone after having Android my whole life, I have currently galaxy buds FE which are fine for the price point but I am thinking about buying AAP3. Could you help me decide if it is good choice or not? I dont know much about sound quality I just want them to sound nice. Switch So I switched to the Pro 3s from my old Pro 2s. The reason I switched is that I bought the Pro 2s when they first came out and I’ve been using them ever since, so the battery life had started to get worse. I was getting around 4 hours of listening time with ANC on, and the case battery was almost dead as well. It could only charge the earbuds from 0% to 100% once, and then I had to charge the case again. It’s not a big deal if you don’t mind charging them every day, but for me it became a bit annoying. Also, the lid of the case was broken after I dropped it while biking. Sometimes it wouldn’t start charging because it couldn’t detect whether the case was properly closed. Design Personally, I don’t really like the design compared to the 2nd gen. They look a bit odd, especially the way they sit in your ears. It almost looks like they aren’t worn properly and are about to fall out, even though they actually fit perfectly. The case also looks a bit cheap because of the removal of the small LED dot (although the difference isn’t really noticeable in photos). It reminds me of cheap AirPods copies from China. I don’t really understand why Apple decided to change it like this. Fit and Comfort For the first few days, they felt a bit strange compared to the 2nd gen, but I got used to them quickly and now I actually like them more. They fit perfectly and don’t get loose like the 2nd gen did when running, walking, looking down, or even with mouth movements like chewing, talking, and especially smiling. I think Apple did a good job here. In terms of comfort, there isn’t much difference. Both generations are very comfortable for me, even during long listening or working sessions. Sound Quality In general, there isn’t a huge difference. Unless you’re an audiophile, you probably won’t notice much. The bass is better, you can definitely feel the improvement. The mids sound pretty much the same to me. The trebles are also slightly better, but the difference is much less noticeable compared to the bass. In daily use, you probably won’t really notice these changes. With a good EQ, you can improve the sound quality even more. I’m using them with an Android device (I did the sound quality test with an iPhone since they can’t reach their full potential on Android). On Android, I use a custom EQ that applies to all the audio from the device. ANC and Transparency Mode ANC is one of the most significant improvements. In quiet places, the difference might not be very noticeable, but outside you can clearly feel it. I had that “wow” moment when I first tried them outdoors. It’s way ahead of the 2nd gen. As for Transparency Mode, I haven’t really seen anyone mention this, but the 2nd gen felt more natural to me. When talking with the Pro 3s, it sometimes feels like you’re hearing your own voice from outside, not the way it normally sounds when you’re not wearing anything. I didn’t have this issue with the 2nd gen. There’s also a noticeable white noise, which I didn’t experience with the older ones. It It Worth the Upgrade? If you’re looking for the best ANC, then yes, it’s worth the upgrade. IMHO APP3 are complete. Sound, MIND BLOWING ANC, microphone quality, Transparency, Battery life. They just check all the boxes for my use cases. There was only one box it didn’t check.. comfort. For a while now, I’ve been trying different angles, tips, methods to no avail. Today, however, I tried something different. Rather than pushing it deep like I usually do (which I did for all my previous AirPods pro models with no problem), I just placed them in my ear without any push. Feels stupid in hindsight how I didn’t try this earlier. Imagine the relief I felt. It worked like a charm. Difference in comfort was night and day and I could actually almost forget they were in my ears. I understood instantly why I kept experiencing pain after pain anytime I put them on. This is going to be my very honest review of the AirPods Pro 3. I’ve been using the AirPods Pro 2 for years and was really looking forward to this upgrade. Before buying the AirPods Pro 3, I had seen both very positive and very negative reviews. I decided not to let those influence me and wanted to try them myself, as I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile. I use a full DAC stack and high-end open back headphones for listening at home, so AirPods are more of a convenience product for me when I’m on the go, but sound quality is still very important to me. After buying them in the mall, I sat down in that very mall and tried them immediately because I couldn’t wait. The disappointment hit instantly. The first song I listened to was “In Da Club” by 50 Cent. I immediately noticed that the bass was too heavy, even for rap music, and the treble was too sharp. The sound felt distorted, even 50’s voice sounded worse and electronically harsh. This became even more obvious as I kept switching back and forth between the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3 while listening to several songs across different genres, from hip-hop to country. After listening to music for a while, I switched to podcasts and interviews to focus on spoken word. Again, the sharp treble stood out immediately, making some voices sound almost screeching. I tested both models with a proper seal and tried different ear tips, switching repeatedly between them. Long story short: to my ears, the AirPods Pro 3 sound clearly worse than the AirPods Pro 2. In direct back and forth testing, they consistently sounded more distorted and fatiguing. Some people will say this comes down to preference, but across all the content I tested, they sounded sonically worse to me. The longer I listened, the more I felt that the AirPods Pro 3 tuning led to faster listening fatigue and occasional perceived distortion, especially in the upper mids and treble. That said, I also have good things to say. The ANC is noticeably better. I realized this immediately because I was in a crowded shopping mall. Switching back and forth between the AirPods Pro 2 and 3 made the improvement very clear. When it comes to comfort, I also have to give the edge to the AirPods Pro 2. They feel like they sit more at the entrance of the ear canal, whereas the AirPods Pro 3 go deeper into the ear. Over longer sessions, this could lead to sore ears for some people, especially for those who dislike the feeling of deeper in-ear penetration. That said, ear shape is highly individual, and I can imagine some people finding the AirPods Pro 3 more comfortable. Conclusion: I returned the AirPods Pro 3 within the 14-days window after extensive testing. While the ANC is clearly improved, I can’t accept a combination of worse comfort and worse sound quality. The AirPods 3 pros are insane with ANC but you could make it even more nasty I threw on some Sony headphones With ANC on and I’m on the bus and with my music as low as 40db it’s dead pan silent! It’s also helps with the winter wether, keeping my ears warm and a perfect seal; lows are invisible thanks to the AirPods and the highs that slip through before are eliminated with this combo Don’t chuck it till you try! I'm a dedicated Samsung user, but after my Buds 3 Pro died on me three times in a month (with three different pairs), I decided to get AirPods Pro 3. And damn, the ANC? The spatial audio? This made the Samsung equivalent sound hollow and flat, so I picked up a secondhand iPhone 16 from CEX, and I switched. Samsung was good and all, but the iPhone is more refined and better. Samsung's quality has gone downhill recently, so I might as well join the gang. And the best part? These things are absolutely insane, the SECOND I put these on, the noise canceling kicked in, like the noise canceling is so good to me it’s nauseating. Not only that, there are BETTER than my Sony xm5s, sound wise no the Sonys are more wide when it comes to that but the noise cancelling in my opinion is way better than the noise canceling on my Sony WH-1000XM5’s. I’m actually blown away by how good these fit and how good the noise canceling is. The sound isn’t my favorite but I’ll figure that out along the way.
