Looks good but I've never seen barbacoa served in broth like that. Then again, barbacoa seems to be a very loosely used term. Some places will use beef cheeks, others chuck. One place I go to, they use lamb. Old Mexican guy I worked with said barbacoa was when they would bury a cows head in the ground with hot coals, cook it low and slow and then pull all the meat off the head.

Here for ideas too! We love doing rice cooked in bone broth with chopped broccoli and shredded cheese mixed in. We serve this with ground beef or chicken. There's a special kind of frustration when my sick kid asks for pho from his favorite restaurant, so I go 30 min round-trip, pay $19 with tip, bring it home, and he picks out every ingredient except for the noodles. So beef broth with rice noodles.

Beef broth is my new super food!
I make a soup called Italian onion soup. So basic and good. Kind of like a french onion soup without the cheese and bread. I saute onions and garlic in a little olive oil and cook them down. Then add 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar with some minced sage. Once the vinegar is cooked out, I add in 32 ounces of beef broth. I season some more for taste with pepper and salt. I will eat a cup of this before my first meal of the day (usually lunch) and it's been game changer! It keeps me satiated and I haven't been craving sweets as much. I wake up in the morning feeling less bloated and gassy. I will sometimes also add a little tallow for the health benefits. This is still a new thing I'm trying, but noticed the scale went down a pound last week from struggling of not seeing any progress the last month. Wanted to share for anyone else that needs to try something different. *To be clear this is something I eat before I eat a meal. This is not a substitute of food for me. I wanted to make sure people realize that. From some of the comments, I think people were confused on my purpose of this post. submitted by /u/afinance035 to r/EatCheapAndHealthy [link] [comments]

LPT: You can replace the water in a rice cooker with chicken or beef stock/broth to add flavor to a dish.
Why LPT: Some dishes benefit greatly from the added flavor of the stock/broth. Bonus: Add a little extra rice to the cooker (before cooking) to keep rice from getting mushy. Like 1/4 more dry rice. Edit: I'm glad everyone has enjoyed this post, however some have not been so happy: "Tips for 8 year olds. Thanks. The real pro tip is you can add salt to food to make it better! Maybe even pepper!" This person clearly only cooks with salt and pepper, so who am I to judge? LPT: Use Salt and Pepper In Your Food, now that's one pro tip I can definitely get behind. Edit 2: I'm very happy you all have give insight on how other alternative liquids can be used. As a Louisiana native, food brings people and cultures together and unites us all. I'm glad we could all come together in this post. submitted by /u/Yendis4750 to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]
