Best Noise Cancelling Headphones to Buy In 2026? (Price, Sound)
Hey guys, I work remote so I move around a lot and I was browsing Reddit to see what people here suggest for good ANC headphones. I need smth that can block noise pretty well cuz I'm often in noisy environments. I just want smth comfy for long work sessions and solid noise canceling. Sony WH-1000XM5 gets mentioned on Reddit a lot, but some people say to skip it and go for the XM6s instead. What do you guys use for noise cancellation when working in noisy places? Thank you so much! EDIT: Thanks for the recommendations guys! I read the comments and made a list for future readers: Sony WH-1000XM4 - $299 - absolute classic! it's the most recommended pair of headphones ever Sony WH-1000XM6 - $399 - a great upgrade with one of the best noice cancellation in the market Bose QC Gen 2 - $399 - good alternative to the XM6 submitted by /u/JeanetteAGalbreat to r/SonyHeadphones [link] [comments]

The Bose QuietComfort is the worst headphone I've ever purchased.
I know these are prosumer (if not consumer) headphones here, but I'm just surprised at how much--or how *little--*350 US dollars can get you these days. I bought these yesterday and was impressed with the comfort and ergonomics of how it wrapped around my head. Headphones can be bulky and uncomfortable but these fit perfectly. I turned them on, and the first thing I noticed was the almost nauseating ANC. ANC bothers a lot of people, but this was just too much. As soon as i played a song, i thought... something has to be wrong here... this sounds god awful. The mix of the song sounded so... separated. It was as if there was an artificial 'phase separation' of different the instruments or frequencies in the song. Almost like the widening effect you get with a stereo-widener/flanger... that starts to get nauseating after a while. Long-story short, I compare these headphones to the cheap ear buds they would give you for free, years ago, on airplanes. I can't believe Bose would test and release a product like this without any reluctance. Please send recommendations here for alternatives. submitted by /u/Prior-Masterpiece-32 to r/headphones [link] [comments]

I saved a woman’s life on an airplane and lost my new Bose headphones because of it
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is Darth_Poopie. They posted in r/mildlyinfuriating Do NOT comment on Original Posts. Latest update is 7 days old. Mood Spoiler: happy ending Original Post: February 27, 2026 I’m an MD anesthesiologist and was on a trans-Pacific flight when a woman on the other side of our airplane went into respiratory failure. She was suffering from severe hypoxemia at our cruising altitude in the setting of chronic lung disease. Long story short, she ended up completely losing consciousness and she stopped breathing for a short while, so myself and a couple EMTs had to physically carry her to the emergency exit aisle and perform lifesaving measures on her for just over 2.5 hours, as we were almost at the exact midpoint in our flight. In the end she regained consciousness and we safely transferred her to paramedics at the receiving airport, but we were physically breathing for her for the entire 2.5 hours she was in our care. If we hadn’t been there, she would have certainly died on the flight. At the end of the flight, immediately after we handed off care to the paramedics, the flight crew started deplaning passengers. I hadn’t been at my seat for the last 2.5 hours so I had to rush back and hurriedly pack my belongings amongst the crowd of passengers. In the commotion, I inadvertently left my new Bose headphones under the seat in front of me—something I never would have done if I wasn’t taking care of someone away from my seat for hours. I didn’t discover they were missing until we were already on our connecting flight. After multiple phone calls and emails with United Airlines, they have informed me they can’t locate my exact pair of headphones without a serial number (which I cannot provide) because they have too many pairs of lost Bose headphones, and there is nothing else they can do…so I am out a new pair of headphones. Tagging as mildly infuriating because obviously it is my fault that I left the headphones and I don’t have the serial number to locate my specific pair. Also, I can definitely afford a new pair of headphones. However, the fact that they have multiple pairs of headphones at the airport and they can’t return any of them to the owners without a serial number, and also the fact that this situation only happened because I volunteered to care for this woman, I think classifies it as a mildly infuriating first world problem. Thanks for listening to my rant haha. I just want my headphones back United!!! Some of OOP's Comments: Critical-Part8283: (Top Comment) Thank you for saving a life! Don’t they even tag the items for which flight they were lost on? Seems that would make it easy to return things to people. OOP: Right??? Apparently not. They just said they have a collection of lost items at the airport lost and found that is then shipped to United headquarters if it’s not claimed in a certain amount of time. thecheesecakemans: Oh thank goodness. I thought I was going to read a rant of another passenger stealing your headphones while you were off doing a GREAT deed for someone else. This one is just forgetting something but the airline company being shitty about it. OOP: Lol I think that story would belong somewhere else besides mildly infuriating To another comment: Yeah I mean it is always worth it to save a life, no matter what. I would still do it again if I knew I was going to lose my headphones, 100%. And I would still be mildly infuriated 🤣 One more comment because this kept coming up: I would save her life again 10/10 times if it meant losing my headphones every time. And I will still be mildly infuriated haha. Saving a life is never the wrong choice WegMitKapitalismus: I can relate! A man once had a stroke in the car ahead of me and drove his car up into a lawn. I got in his car to pull him out to attempt CPR while the ambulance was on the way, and lost my very expensive brand new prescription sunglasses in the back seat. Pretty sure he didn't survive, so I feel guilty for even worrying about my glasses. OOP: Wow that is eerily so similar! This is why Reddit is the best, you can find people with shared experiences. Thanks for commenting! And good on you for taking action! great_cosmic_rabbit: Any chance you still have the box it came in? Maybe the serial number is on there? 🤞 OOP: I wish I did. Weird too, I usually keep the boxes of my more expensive electronics :( Did United offer you anything for your service? To be fair, they did offer me a $150 flight credit that expires in a year. That is basically useless to me though because this is the first time I’ve flown United in over 10 years and I have no plans in the future. They aren’t one of the main servicing airlines where I live. Great_gatzzzby: Always secure your equipment before leaving the scene, rookie 😂 Just kidding. Good job. What was it you guys were doing for those 2.5 hours? What kind of stuff did the flight crew supply you with? OOP: Manual ventilation with an ambu bag, put in an IV, gave a few meds. Suctioning out the airway. The airline had minimal supplies, really just stuff you would need in the event she was actually dying and needed ACLS [editor's note: Google says this is "Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support"] To another commenter: I manually breathed for her using a bag valve mask connected to an oxygen tank. We went through about 3 tanks during the course of the whole episode Her regaining consciousness: She regained consciousness after about 20 minutes of assisted ventilation with an ambu bag and some IM epi. Pretty sure she had a stroke in the process though as she stopped moving her left arm and leg toward the end of the flight. I had to continue assist ventilating her for the following 2 hours because she was very old, had poor respiratory effort, and her pulse ox never read above 85% the rest of the flight NuDru: Why didn't they divert the flight to land sooner if a patient is in respiratory failure? That part makes no sense to me OOP: Over the Pacific Ocean. It was either turn around or keep going Update Post: February 28, 2026 (Next Day) Title: UPDATE: I saved a woman’s life on an airplane and lost my new Bose headphones because of it. Then Bose reached out to me! I never expected my post yesterday to get as many views as it did, and I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all the kind Redditors that had stories to share and different perspectives on my mildly infuriating situation! As a result of the post, someone from Bose headquarters reached out and offered to send me a new pair of headphones. I’m really impressed that they even cared enough to do that, and they have definitely earned a customer for life. Kudos to Bose for being so cool about it after United Airlines customer service just left me hanging! Again, thanks for all the kind words! I enjoyed reading all the comments and had many good laughs. Just to clarify, I was very happy to help save this woman’s life, and I would 100% choose to do it again every time if it meant losing the headphones. The headphones are not a huge deal, which is why it seemed appropriate for this sub, as losing them after such a long and arduous ordeal only to have United Airlines bounce me around was indeed MILDLY infuriating. I am aware that I can afford new headphones haha…that was not the point of the post. And to all the crazy Redditors who called me a liar, ChatGPT, egotistical, a narcissist, a karma farmer, and lastly the random psychopath that PM’ed me and told me to burn in hell for making up lies…..I hope you are nicer to your anesthesiologist when you inevitably need their help in real life, because they have your life in their hands and they deserve your respect and gratitude. Cheers! (Oh and P.S. I read and tried all of your suggestions to find my serial number and I was totally unsuccessful. Will be registering my electronics from now on!) Some of OOP's Comments: OOP clarifies: When I got to her seat she was breathing oxygen through a supplemental mask provided by the airline. Even with that mask on full blast, she was still in significant respiratory distress and had an oxygen saturation submitted by

Are the Bose QuietComfort headphones worth the price?
Hello, I am autistic and looking for a pair of wireless headphones that meet some specific needs. My top priority requirement would be that they are comfortable for long periods of time. Anything heavy or bulky would be a dealbreaker for me. Noise cancellation is also an extremely important factor, almost as important as comfort. Then finally, I want them to have a satisfying crisp and dynamic sound when playing music out of them. I have been on the hunt for an adequate pair for a few months now, and right now I'm leaning towards the Bose QC (not ultra, just regular.) if I am spending that amount of money I want to ensure they will meet my needs and are well liked by people. Are they worth it? Also, if you have any other recommendations that fit my criteria within a similar price range I would love any suggestions. Thank you so much in advance. submitted by /u/toasted_confusion to r/HeadphoneAdvice [link] [comments]

Quietcomfort ultra headphones are the worst product I have ever owned

How are Bose headphones these days?
My wife has a Bose quiet comfort 25 around ear headphones she has been using for the last 10 years. I want to update them for her birthday as she has mentioned wanting Bluetooth + wired headphones as her phone doesn't have a jack. Are Bose still "10 years and going strong" levels of reliable? Any particular models to look into or stay away from? Why I Returned the Bose QC Ultra Gen 2 Headphones
Great headphones, great looking, very quality & premium feeling, Bose really did a great job with these! (I've had/have a LOT of headphones!) The use-case: At home, either wired setups or the Focal Bathys for music & media For workouts, Sony XM4s; tried zillions of earbuds, none work TRAVEL: What I used the Bose QCUG2 for, primarily for flights I love them overall, buuuttt ... due to a few issues, not right for me at this price point: FIT. They kept slipping off despite having a large head & needed constant adjusting VOLUME. Frequently, they didn't get loud enough (android & macbook) ANC. It's great, but it varies even in full-on quiet mode which is distracting MODES. Only cinema mode delivers volume & you have to put up with head tracking CONTROLS. Turning my head or dipping it near my shoulder triggered the shortcuts Any of these on their own wouldn't be a deal breaker, but as a whole, overall, I wasn't in love. If they had one killer feature, I'd probably have kept them; it's sad because they're great at most things, and for 2 months I really enjoyed them, but the niggles started adding up and, so, before my 90 day trial ran out, I returned them. In their place I'll probably get the B&W Px8 S2, hoping their good enough ANC + excellent sound stage will be the right mix. If not, it'll be the Soundcore Space One Pros as a placeholder and wait for something better. submitted by /u/gruss_gott to r/bose [link] [comments]

It’s been a year since I bought the Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones, and this is why I’ll never buy Bose again.
It’s been about a year since I bought the Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones, and honestly… I’m done with Bose. The multipoint connection is just terrible. Sometimes when I connect another device, the first one just disconnects for no reason. If I’m on a call and another device connects, it drops the call or randomly switches the audio back to my phone’s speakers — and then I can’t even get the sound back to Bluetooth unless I disconnect and reconnect the headphones. The ear detection is also super inconsistent. Sometimes it pauses when I take them off, sometimes it keeps playing even when they’re around my neck. And other times, if I just tilt my head slightly, it pauses for no reason. But the absolute worst part? Phone calls. Everyone I talk to keeps saying that they can hear all the background noise around me — sometimes even louder than my own voice. I honestly don’t understand how a company that’s supposed to be the world leader in noise cancellation can’t make headphones that handle calls properly. And to top it off, there’s this constant beep I get every 10 seconds when the connection to a device is lost. You can’t disable it, and it’s infuriating. It basically forces me to turn off multipoint altogether — which defeats the whole point of buying “premium” headphones that are supposed to handle multiple devices smoothly. I really wanted to love these, but between the connection issues, the unreliable ear detection, and the unusable mic for calls, I just can’t justify Bose anymore. submitted by /u/Awsar_alraby to r/headphones [link] [comments]

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones Gen 2 Review
I’ve been using the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) for a while now, and I have to say — these things are incredible. Sound: The sound is warm and rich, but still very balanced and clear. Everything feels natural — vocals, instruments, bass — nothing is overdone or harsh. I haven’t noticed any distortion at all, even at higher volumes. The soundstage also surprised me; it’s natural and has a nice sense of depth and space between instruments. Music just feels alive through these, not flat or clinical. Comfort: Comfort is honestly next level. These feel like pillows hugging your head — soft, snug, and super comfortable for long sessions. I wouldn’t use them for workouts (they’re not built for that kind of movement), but they’re fine for light activities like a brisk walk or some yoga. Noise Canceling & Transparency: The noise canceling is phenomenal — so strong it can actually get a little disorienting at first because it blocks everything. On the other hand, the transparency mode sounds incredibly natural. You can easily hear your surroundings without it sounding artificial, which is great if you’re in an office or just need to stay aware of people around you. Controls & Features: The controls take a little getting used to, but once you figure them out, they work really smoothly. I love that you can quickly switch between Bluetooth devices you’ve already paired — that’s super convenient. Battery life is great too — around 30 hours, which easily gets me through multiple workdays or a long flight. There’s also USB audio, multi-point Bluetooth, and spatial audio that works on any device, no special software needed. The call quality is excellent too; I’ve taken business calls in noisy environments and people still hear me clearly. Overall: These are some of the best headphones I’ve ever owned. The sound, comfort, and noise canceling are all top-tier, and the features make them super versatile. They’re not for heavy workouts, but for travel, work, or just relaxing and enjoying your music, they’re absolutely worth it. Highly recommend. submitted by /u/Protomize to r/headphones [link] [comments]

Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones Gen 1 vs Gen 2 quick take
Told myself I wouldn't get the Gen 2, but could not resist at least checking them out. Still quite unsure whether or not to keep and replace my Gen 1. My very quick initial impressions: Gen 2 feel slightly softer and with even lower clamping force already straight out of the box (even though I had no complaints on Gen 1). They really are super comfortable (still). Gen 2 has noticeably less hiss/white noise during ANC mode. There is some hiss during the first few seconds, but then for me it goes down to an (almost?) imperceptible level. ANC I just tested around the house so far and struggled to find any clear differences. They might be there, sure, but at least not immediately apparent. With Gen 2 you can now turn ANC on/off and set ANC strength from 1-10 Sound quality I could not discern any noticeable differences (disregarding the cinematic mode) Microphones/call quality I did not test yet Gen 2 sand color is gorgeous, but I am quite partial to the darker sandstone tone of Gen 1 They are really very similar headphones (well, obviously), this is nowhere near the XM5 -> XM6 So absent any call testing (where I am hoping they will have improved), imo the most noticeable upgrades are on ANC customization and the hiss reduction, otherwise not a WOW!-impact upgrade. EDIT: Also, I have not been able to reproduce the thumping/popping sound with stronger movements on Gen 2, but I really wouldn't want to give any guarantees it is fixed. Just did some very brief tests indoors. submitted by /u/henders7 to r/bose [link] [comments]

Bose headphones battery replacement.
I’ve had these for 8 years. Lately the battery started to no longer hold a charge. $15 dollar battery and marginal soldering skills later I’m back in business. submitted by /u/Perenium_Falcon to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Bose headphones are basically a spyware on your head
Their recent privacy policy update basically gives them access to everything you're hearing, and likely saying (through the microphone). Unfortunately, when you make a product that people keep for a few years at least, you're gonna be forced to monetize other aspects of the business. What a shame.
