Yeah, that is his word not mine. I owned 3 sports bras which I wore during workout or just in general in home when I didnt want to wear anything else. Hello, I originally posted this in r/AmITheAsshole but it was removed, I think a lot of people that follow that sub also follow this one so I’m posting it here to later give an update, assuming it’s not removed from this sub as well I (32M) have shared custody of my 13 yo daughter. Earlier this week we went to the mall since she’s been asking me to go and I was happy with how she’s been doing in school. Midway through after we hit a few stores she asked me to go into Victorias secret, I asked what she wanted (thinking something like perfume) and she said she wanted bras that fit better, not my area of expertise so I asked one of the ladies in there if they could assist her, gave my daughter card to buy what she wanted and stood to the side outside of the store. She got what she wanted and we continued with our day. Yesterday after I took my daughter to her moms , I get a call from my daughter’s mom who’s furious with me for letting my daughter buy “sexy underwear” I’m like what? what’d she buy? And she tells me she has lacy bras, I ask “see through?” But she said no but that it doesn’t mater because lace in general is too much for a 13 year old and that I was crazy for not checking her bags. I said I didn’t think I needed to help a teenage girl shop for underwear or bras or whatever but she didn’t wanna hear it. I told her I have the receipt and just send them back with her (my daughter) next time I get her and I’ll see if I can return them. But I’m wondering if this was an oversight on my part? Are dads supposed to be supervising bra choices? —- ETA: Thank you everyone for all of the opinions and advice (even those who think I’m wrong) I’m trying to read through all the comments I can but here’s a few things based on the ones I’ve seen so far: I’ve seen alot of comments saying I should keep the bras in her room at my house, I like that idea and will do that. Referring to the comments saying my daughter was playing me, I wouldn’t say she’s that kind of girl but even if she was going around her mom, I won’t be mad at her for that (but will have a talk with her). I was a teen too once. As far as talks about sex and whatnot, I’m fortunate that she doesn’t shy away from talking to me about these kinds of things and we can have open and age appropriate conversations about that and surrounding topics. I'm a woman and I think it's ridiculous. Stop forcing women to wear bras. I used to wear undershirts to keep them from moving about, but why can't my body and its parts move? The rest of my body moves beneath my clothes? You wouldn't ask my beer belly or Jason's beer belly to hold still when he walks? To clarify, I don't get how my boobs are unprofessional underneath a man's black Hanes t-shirt. How are natural body movements seen as unprofessional when there is no cleavage, no side boob? ETA: please don't report me as suicidal. It takes away and minimizes the pain some people are actually suffering. Bras being uncomfortable is nothing new. Every other generation of women I've (an older Millennial) known from my mother, to every girlfriend I've had, to my wife, to every female friend I've had where the topic has come up, has complained about them. Yet all of them choose to wear bras and continue to do so. However, I've noticed that Gen Z women have seemingly rejected them. Whether on shows or just out in public, far fewer of them wear bras than I've ever seen among any prior generation. So what changed? I'm genuinely curious for any perspectives. My boyfriend was at the laundromat doing our laundry, and he left behind my bra washing bag. It contained all 7 of my regular bras, but thankfully none of my sports bras, which get washed normally. When I realized what happened, I made him go back to the laundromat and look for them. They were gone, and the shop owner said there was probably no way to get them back. I wear a 32K bra. This is not exactly a bra size that you can just walk into Target and find. I generally have to order my bras from places like Curvy Kate. More than that, I’d finally gotten to the point where I know what style bras actually fit me comfortably, and those 7 bras were ones I’d specifically chosen because they fit me well and look good on me. When I asked him to please replace them since he’s the one who lost them, he at first agreed – until I sent him links to each of the bras (minus one no longer made), and the cost was nearly $400. He told me that he would be happy to replace one or two of them, but that I was spending way too much on bras and he couldn’t justify the cost. I said that while it’s not ideal, I could accept if he could buy me the 2 I need the most and then over time, replace the others. He said no, that’s not really any better. I told him that when I accidentally spilled car oil all over his college hoodie, I went right out and immediately replaced it, even though it was from the school bookshop so it was incredibly overpriced. He said that was completely different. He took this issue to his sister, who agrees with him that I overspend on bras and should try harder to find something that fits at the mall. AITA for this? Should I really accept this? Sorry y'all, work happened. Anyway to address the recurring comments: - Was he doing my laundry as a "favor"?: No, we're two adults in an adult relationship. We share chores like most functional adults. He's done the laundry before without this happening. - Something corny, reference to "marinara flags": It wasn't funny the first time, and it's not funny now. Please stop. - He doesn't get to touch the boobies/titties/other juvenile term for breasts: I don't use sex as a weapon, and my body is not an object for me to offer as a prize, or take away as a punishment.
