Depends on what you mean by polish. Polish to cut into the paint Meguiars ultimate polish is hard to beat, along with carpro 3D1, or phoenix EOD papa cut. If you mean wax, or sealant, I use phoenix EOD titan, and turtle wax hybrid solutions ceramic spray coating on top of my actual ceramic coating on my car. They are hard to beat when it comes to gloss.

Got my car ceramic coated about six months ago. The shop told me to just use a good pH neutral soap and it would be fine. But I keep seeing different advice online. Some people say wash every week. Others say every two weeks is plenty. I dont want to ruin the coating by over washing or under washing. I use a two bucket method with quality microfiber mitts and dry with a blower. No automatic car washes ever. I also top it up with a ceramic detail spray maybe once a month. Is that enough or should I be doing more. Also how do I know when the coating is actually failing and not just dirty. Any advice from people who have maintained coatings long term would be great. Please dont just say read the FAQ. I did. Hello folks, I have a ceramic coated car and am also very lazy. I like to pressure wash rinse it only and that's it. The water here is low ppm so water spotting isn't much of a problem. However, after several washes, eventually the road film / bugs on front bumper / road pollution on rear bumper start to catch up and I need to foam cannon and scrub the car down, then rinse again. What I'm looking for is the easiest to apply ceramic boost / top coat / sacrificial layer that will help me get as many rinse-only washes as possible before I have to use soap again. In the past I tried a few "spray and rinse" SiO2 products but they bead up and run off right away, so I don't get good coverage. I've had to resort to additionally drying the car, spray on, and buff off. (Don't like all this extra contact, but it does look pretty good afterwards) How about any of those foam-based toppers like Hydro2 foam? I figure in the case that I eventually have to soap wash the car anyway, may as well use that. Presumably it spreads on more evenly than a spray-and-rinse. Hi all, new to the sub here. For my past two vehicles I’ve always gotten it ceramic coated professionally. However, I have just acquired a new vehicle and I’m looking to save money these days and not spend on anything extra. I got myself a Tucson in an Amazon grey, which is this really neat colour. It’s gray with green hidden in it, and I feel I can really bring the colour out with some work. What I liked about the ceramic coating before was it deepened the colour and also of course made the car new every time it rained. For winters (I’m in southern Ontario) I could just take it to a coin op car wash and spray it down. Very easy to keep clean. So my question is what easy to use products are there that I can apply to the car to get me some good results. I should also mention that I’ll be in this car for 5years. It’s been a very long time since I have done any buffing on a car so I’m trying to be as careful as I can with this. Washed with gtechniq soap, followed by a clay bar with quick detail spray. With a Bauer DA I used Meguiars products in the photo with orange and blue foam pads, for the two compounds and followed with black pad for polishing step. According to the instructions with the foam pads this was the correct choice for colors and compounds. I’m still seeing subtle swirls in certain areas that I am wanting to address prior to ceramic coating it. They are hard to photograph, and I can’t take it outside in the sun because there is no sun where I live. This took me two days and was my first time ceramic coating a car. I started with Clean. By Pan Demoralizing Shampoo for the pre-wash, then used his regular shampoo for the contact wash. After that, I decontaminated the paint with his iron remover and a synthetic clay sponge. For the paint correction, I used Rupes Uno Pure with a Rupes white finishing pad as this is a new car. Once the surface was clean, I wiped everything down with panel prep spray and applied Pan’s 8-year ceramic coating. The coating was super easy to work with, no visible high spots, and the gloss is wild. I got into detailing 25+ years ago when I got my first car, back when it was hand applied wax and sealants. I took a ~10 hiatus from detailing due to time and energy being needed elsewhere (i.e. family/kids/career), but a couple of years ago I got back into keeping my cars detailed, spurred by trading the 'ol dad-mobile for something fun again. The game had changed while I was away, everything became sprays and ceramic coatings, wax is apparently dead, convienience and longevity trump deep gloss, glassy looking ceramics are in vogue, and LSPs are seemingly judged soley by how tight they bead water. I bought in and started using ceramic spray sealants first, and hated them. Convienient, but the spray mist irritated my nose and eyes, and they didn't look like I remembered a fresh coat of WOWO wax or sealant looking. And the potential streaking, overspray on glass, among other things. So I did the proper decon and polishing to apply a ceramic coating. Functionally great, but looked too glassy, like it's just reflecting light off the surface. It was harsh looking to my eye, for lack of a better word. I was never happy with it, but it performed great so lived with it for about a year. I couldn't live with it anymore though. I wash every week and enjoy experimenting with different products anyways, so multi-year longevity held little to no draw for me. I did the decon and clay steps again, then polished off my ceramic coating and applied a sealant old-school style with an applicator, waited for the haze, and wiped off, with the intention of putting a layer of carnauba on top, like back in the day. The first time I pulled my car out of the garage after a day of that was nostolgic, there it was again, the deep glossy look I remembered, not the glass looking coating it was wearing. light was in the paint not reflecting off the surface, the mica pearl was popping through, not hidden behind glass-like reflectivity. And the slickness is unreal, something not many coatings can match. Slippery slick. Looked so good I haven't bothered topping it with wax yet, still will eventually though. Most of the day was spent on decon and re-polishing, the liquid sealant was easy to apply and easier to wipe off, no big deal, easy enough I won't mind doing that part 3 times a year if necessary. I used McKee's Graphene Deep Gloss Ceramic Sealant to be specific. Claims 12 months, but I'll legit be happy with 4. It's got the graphine and ceramic buzzwords, but whatever, I just wanted the liquid sealant look, so if that extra stuff adds longevity I don't know yet. I garage park at home and at work, so my car stays out of the elements for the most part, getting useful longevity should be easy in my situation. We'll see if a year's experience living with the low maintenace of a ceramic coating spoiled me when the sealant needs reapplied, and if I regret it or not, but probably not. I can always recoat. I bought some Collinite 915 for when I decide to top the sealant with wax, and already tested it on my wife's car, it looks great, really great. Can't beat the look of wax. I see that get debated here, but to my eye on my paint (or my wife's paint in this case), there's a world of difference in the look. I tried to enjoy my ceramic coating, but in the end it wasn't worth the tradeoffs. Hey everyone, I know this question comes up a lot, but I’m hoping to get some actual perspective from people who’ve gone either route. I just picked up a 2026 Honda Civic Sport Touring Hybrid Hatchback (black). Daily driver, parked outside year-round in the Cleveland/Pittsburgh area (so salt, snow, and sun exposure). I’ve been quoted locally by a shop that uses XPEL products: Full front PPF: ~$2,100 (bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors) 10-year ceramic coating (with 1-year refresh): ~$2,200 (includes paint, wheels, plastics, and trim) So all-in I’m looking at about $4,300 for both. From what I’ve read: PPF = best for rock chips, but limited coverage unless you go full-body. Ceramic = easier washes, deeper gloss, less UV/fade, but still needs proper washing and maintenance. DIY sprays give you 70–80% of the “look” at a fraction of the cost, just with more frequent reapplication. I plan to keep the car least 5-10 years at least most most likely and drive max 10k miles/year. My questions for those who’ve done this: For a car like this (not a high-end sports car), did you find the pro ceramic worth it vs just using sprays yourself? If you went with PPF, did you regret not doing ceramic too? Or vice versa? How did your coating actually hold up after a couple winters? Any regrets either way? I've had my car for about 9 months now. I hand hybrid wash it every two weeks or so and use a ceramic spray sealant (ADS Amplify or ADS CSS) as a drying aid EVERY TIME. I get wicked beading and always have. I take meticulous care of the paint and undercarriage. All my vehicles are garaged. I have a mini detailing kit in my car to get rid of bugs and bird poop whenever I see them (I generally do a walk around whenever I get in or out of the car). I also have full front, roof, rocker panel, and rear quarter panel PPF. First is fusso coat by soft99 its a synthetic wax ptfe based contact angle of 105 meaning you get insane sheeting and beading aswell as 12 months durability when proper maintenance and chemicals during your maintenance wash are used. I might be getting a new car soon (Honda Accord) and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth spending $600+ on a ceramic coating for it. I try to take good care of my current car, I only do touchless and occasional hand washes, and I use spray wax pretty frequently. Besides having to apply it more frequently, is there much of a difference with a regular ceramic coating over using the spray more often and is it really worth the high price? Just bought a new bobcat E35 on a small farm. My thought is… someone in the family will inherit this absolutely cool machine. I went full idiot and detailed it like a show car. Spent the day and ceramic coated it. Preventive spray on all non painted metal/hydraulic fittings. Detailed the interior. Only has 2.1 hrs on it. I know…. It will get tortured, scratched, dented, and rust. Can’t find much on the internet about excelling on heavy equipment. Before you bust my balls… Iam mid 40s and retired military. Am I an idiot? And it was worth it! Only been about 3 weeks since I applied Adams Advanced Graphene Advanced (from the tiny bottle, not the spray). It took way longer than I anticipated with the strip wash, clay bar, surface prep, then ceramic coat. I was satisfied with my paint so I didn’t polish. Overall it was fairly easy. The ceramic is impossible to see flash or rainbow on the white paint, so I went by feel. I probably didn’t level it enough but who knows. It looks perfect in all kinds of light. The UV light helped when I missed a spot or had a high spot. I did the glass 7 months ago with their glass ceramic. Not super impressed with the glass tbh. Debris still really sticks to it. If I could do it over, I would level with the suede towel and then go over it again with the white plush towel that comes with the kit. Hopefully it’ll last a while. Just a quick review of this LSP. Good: Goes on easy. Bit sticky but did not have a hard time with cleaning off the fog. High gloss really liked how the black car popped. Seems to have good longevity and water beading. Bad: doesn’t leave a slick surface. Swear it attracts dust. Frequent issues with water spotting. I live in Indiana, it snows or rains every other day until July (slight exaggeration). A slight rain mixed with dust left a mess that was very difficult to clean off.
