The package on top is the old one and the one on bottom is the new one. In my opinion, the new ones are disgusting. The chocolate taste weird and the actual cookies just tastes off. There is only 1 store near me that still sells the old package, which taste way better. Is this like a nationwide change? Haven't had them in years, but my 5 year old niece offered me one when I was babysitting (actually she bribed me - "Let's eat a cookie, I won't tell on you", smart girl.) My god it was a fall from grace; it tasted like sawdust. The package was previously unopened and not expired. I'm sure they were never amazing, and being in my mid-20's I obviously have a more refined pallet these days, but dang. So we bought this cookies perhaps 2 weeks ago, 3 boxes. First box was good, normal looking and tasting cookies. Last two boxes looked like this. Lot more brown, and thin looking cookies. I used to love Chips Ahoy (and Oreo) as a kid so I always looked forward whenever my aunt would send some from the US. So when I finally could afford to get some, I took the chance with the original one. But it seems the texture seems drier now. Even the sweetness feels a bit off, and the chocolate chips don’t have that same flavor as I remember. Maybe it’s nostalgia messing with me because they say childhood snacks always seem better. So I looked it up and it appears they did change the “formulation”. They say they have a new recipe but all I notice is an overcooked cookie. UPDATE: my husband literally called Nabisco customer service to complain (half jokingly - we’re not actually the type to raise arms especially in public lol) and they said they’d definitely let quality control know.
