bought this copper water container from P•TAL
I recently bought a copper water container because I wanted to try storing drinking water the old traditional way again. Growing up, my grandparents always used copper containers, but over time plastic bottles and steel dispensers slowly replaced everything. After using it for a few days, I actually like the experience. The water feels cooler and the container also looks quite nice in the kitchen. It also reminded me of the way water used to be stored at my grandparents’ house. Not saying it’s some miracle change or anything, but it does feel nice going back to something traditional instead of plastic bottles. Does anyone else here still store drinking water in copper containers, or is it mostly steel and plastic now? submitted by /u/EchoMoss-1 to r/PlasticFreeLiving [link] [comments]

Blue tinge to water throughout home?!
Hi all, really hope someone can help us out We recently had a new bathroom fitted in our house and noticed the bathwater was now a shade of blue that looks like a photo of a holiday resort swimming pool. At first I assumed it must be something the plumbers had done, so filled our baby bath from the ensuite shower and: also blue. Tried the tap in the kitchen and guess what: blue. (It’s harder to see as the bowl isn’t as deep, but I filled the baby bath using the kitchen tap as well and it’s the same hue as we see upstairs). Have run all taps for at least an hour in case there was something in the system, but it didn’t reduce the blueness and it’s the same a day later. Plumbers say it’s not due to their work: they have only replaced the copper pipes that feed the shower. Kitchen sink is downstairs and it seems odd that water coming directly in from the main supply would be affected so strongly by some work upstairs. We don’t use any blue toilet cleaner products so it can’t be that. Neighbours aren’t affected so seems unlikely to be a main supply issue? Pipes from main supply to the house are plastic, the first copper piping in the house is from the stopcock under the kitchen sink. Local water service have taken a sample away for testing, but that may take a few days. Really hope someone will have an idea what‘s going on and suggest how we can fix this! [Edit: This wasn’t the case a week ago. We’ve filled the baby bath to similar levels many times and it hasn’t looked anything like this] [Edit 2: I understand that deep bodies of water appear blue due to light refraction, but we have never noticed this before under the same lighting. Edit 2b: the bath is barely half full in that first pic, it’s not that deep, much like some of the commenters] [Edit 3: we bought some tester strips. Blank is bottled water, X is our tap water, 5 is from our neighbours a few doors up the road. It seems reasonable to expect neighbouring houses to have the same results if there was nothing wrong. https://image2url.com/r2/default/images/1770675816719-a451b898-2727-4037-98f3-a6045267d928.jpeg I also repeated the test on our tap water in case of errors/a faulty strip and it came out the same] submitted by /u/AutomaticIndustry9 to r/Plumbing [link] [comments]

Tata copper water distributorship
How can I get a distributorship for Tata copper water bottles in my Tier 3 city? I have observed that there are no suppliers of this brand in my city or surrounding cities. I have tried to contact them through their website, but I haven't received any response. I live near Latur, Maharashtra. If anyone has any contact or lead related to this, please let me know. It would be a great help as I am currently unemployed. submitted by /u/happy_batman876 to r/IndiaBusiness [link] [comments]

Two poor students attempt to create drinkable alcohol in time for Christmas (with pictures!)
Hi CasualUK! I'm back with a writeup of a cider experiment that began on 23rd October and concluded on the 12th December! You might remember me as the guy who posted that he'd blown his entire Christmas bonus on £250 of alcohol and cheese around this time last year. To start this story, a friend of ours (we are students) who is an older gentleman, and local to our city, offered us some free apples from his allotment. He also claimed that this year the apples were full of sugar, so would be great to create a cider. On a side note, he was also recently elected CEO of the English Chess Federation. Multifaceted. Being the obliging, and more importantly, alcoholic, students that we are, we walked away with quite the quantity of fruit. Our bounty, on the couch that i was responsible for washing the covers of. We then immediately set about googling how to turn these apples into juice, and found two methods. One was to obtain an apple press, which is expensive, so was immediately discounted. This forced us into the seemingly simple option two: boil, mash, and strain. After borrowing some giant metal pots from the local Scout troop, and an amount of chopping that could be deemed unethical to the blades of our knives, we had two big containers of chopped apple that we put on to boil. Enough chopped apples to feed a legion of horses. Being a pair of intelligent scientific minds, we remembered that we probably needed some vessels to actually brew this cider in, and as such we began a grand excursion. We first headed to Aldi, to buy our usual 5L bottles of water. However, we were unable to find any, and upon consulting with a store assistant, we learned that they supposedly only sell 5L bottles of water in the summer months (a fact that was later proven wrong by finding them for sale in the same store only 7 weeks later). As such, we had to walk to Sainsbury's, which was probably a good thing as it gave us the opportunity to purchase a potato masher to mash the apples in the pot. As we purchased our water, we also came up with a stroke of genius that had not occurred to us in our previous brewing adventures: we can empty the bottles of water before lugging them across the entire city! As such, we emptied them down the drain in Sainsbury's car park, and people probably thought that it was some form of esoteric micro-protest for the environment. OpenAI uses more water in a second than this, so it didn't seem like too much of a waste. Proceeding home, we were certain that the apples had begun to boil away nicely, as every downstairs window in the house had visibly steamed up. This gave us hope, but probably wasn't optimal for our already damp and mould-infested student home. The kitchen window, from the inside, several minutes after we opened it. Armed with my trusty masher, I then began to mash the apples. Mashing away. My watch died not long after this and I'm pretty sure it's this steam exposure that did it in. After a very very long time (several hours) we had something ready to continue processing. But you can't exactly strain the bits out of 100 celsius apple juice, so first we had to embark on the cooling process. Obviously, 7 litres of boiling sugar water has quite a lot of thermal mass, so this also took a while. The most efficient system that came to mind was putting the pot in the sink and stirring while running cold water around the outside out of the tap. Our innovative cooling solution. We would really have liked an immersion cooler or something, like a hollow copper pipe coiled around, but we had nothing of the sort. As such this also took bloody forever for each individual pot, so instead of waiting yourself, you can just skip that line and read the next sentence in my writeup! We're almost ready to brew with this apple juice, we just need to separate it from the skins, stems, bugs, and general other particulate matter in the pot. The first attempt consisted of a plastic bag with the corner cut off to act as a sort of funnel, lined with a colander, which itself was lined with a cheesecloth. \"Auto\"-filter V1 required two people to operate at staggeringly slow speeds. This was absolutely godawful, so we quickly switched our approach to one that was significantly more labour-intensive. We decided to manually squeeze juice out of the pulp that we scooped out of the pot, into a container identical to the one that the apples were originally in. I wasn't very good at this, but my housemate was, so he did most of the heavy lifting here. A cloth full of pulp ready to squeeze. Housemate extracting the good stuff. Once we had done all of this, and dealt with the two pots of apples, we had actually only processed around half of our stock, so we had to do it all again! We started this fairly early in the morning and it was well after dark when we finished the process. So. We have our apple juice! Time to make the final preparations to brew. I created my favourite concoction: several packets of bread yeast boiled together in a saucepan with a number of teabags that could offend all of the British nobility at the same time. The sole purpose of this is to provide nutrient for the brewing yeast, and tannins from the strong tea. Yeast nutrient glop. This is the point where I attempted to take a gravity reading, and we encountered a slight flaw with our plans. This stuff was thick. Like really, syrupy, thick, and the gravity reading was off the scale. Unfortunately I didn't think to take a picture of this. My ingenious solution was to water a sample down by 50%, take a reading, and double it. This led to an estimated potential ABV of 10% if it fermented dry (it very much did). The final step for prep day was to transfer from our vat of goo to the fermentation bottles and add some yeast. A sophisticated transfer mechanism. The liquid proved to be too thick for my siphon, and as such we had to use a ladle and measuring jug to do the bulk of the transfer. All was almost well, except for the last fermentation bottle. Our vat of goo ran out before it was half full! Disaster! But the enterprising minds of 2 [REDACTED] Street were not to be outdone on this day. We knew from previous brews that blueberries taste good when fermented, so we blended up some of those and added it to the final bottle. However, it still wasn't full, so we decided to blend some of the leftover pulp (seeds, stalks, etc) to fill the space. About a day after this, we realised that the seeds could leach trace amounts of cyanide into the mix, and the stems could ferment into methanol. We still plan to drink it after it finishes aging (we left it all at university over christmas). Housemate creating the disturbing final brew. We then decided everything needed a good mix, but it was all in bottles. Cue housemate #2 to the rescue. Using the drill he provided, and stripping an old coathanger found in my room from a previous tenant, of paint, we could make a drill-whisk! This was... wildly successful. The drill whisk. We then put our invention to use: Happily mixing away. It was then naming time for our brews. We called the "primary" brew Pitfighter, as a nod to Lilley's Gladiator cider, as ours was intended to be just as strong but probably significantly more shit. The purple one was nicknamed Passchendaele, as we concluded that it looked a bit like mud and blood mixed together. A point that I had previously forgotten to note while writing this is that the boiling process left a delicious sweet apple-y caramel burned to the bottom of the pots. Now it was time to let them rest and ferment, with absolutely no foreseeable issues: All happy Unbeknownst to us, the fermentation of Passchendaele was violent. It exploded several times during the first week, the first being not hours after we had finished playing with it. This tube of... substance, was rising in real time before our eyes after we took the lid off. Yes, the lid did have an airlock. After about a week, this settled down, and fermented like a well-behaved hooch. Six weeks later, I ordered some fermentation stopper stuff off of Amazon, and threw it into all of the brews. However, these brews had created an apocalyptic amount of sediment, as I posted about previously here. As an update, I now have loads of what is effectively alcoholic apple sauce if anyone wants to take it off my hands. More sediment than most British canals. After several rounds of cold crashing and re-racking, we had about 4.5L of cider. A disappointing quantity given the amount of liquid we started with, but what can one do. We siphoned the good bits off of the sediment into a new bottle and gave it a taste. Damn, was it tart. A quick google search later revealed that it hadn't gone off, but had zero sugar in. To fix this, we mixed up a quick batch of sugarwater, and poured some into the bottle. From this point, we didn't taste any until the uncorking ceremony. We then bottled all of our drinks using my housemate's new corker, and some wine bottles that I obtained from my football team's wine social. Me siphoning into a bottle. And corking: Got changed as I was being dragged to the pub. My friend, who invited me, waits. And the final look at the goods: Passchendaele And Pitfighter. I'm now out of pictures, so you're going to have to take my word for this. At the uncorking ceremony, we discovered that the cider was fizzy! Turns out not all the yeast had been killed by the fermentation stopper, and the backsweetening combined with that pressurised the cider. It tastes nice, somewhere between medium and sweet, and feels around 6%. The fizz is very strange, as it feels much more like a sparkling wine than a cider on the tongue (I did use wine yeast, which might have contributed). We did give a bottle to our friend who gave us the apples, but his bottle burst. We think that one was the second from the right in this image, as the cork is not all the way in. My housemate found that chilling the cider before opening makes it less violent, as the warm stuff explodes like shaken champagne when you open it. TL;DR: If you're making cider, use an apple press or just buy apple juice. submitted by /u/MrDialga34 to r/CasualUK [link] [comments]

[Request] how much copper would enter the body if a person drinks from a copper bottle daily?
I saw this post about people drinking from copper bottles with apparent "health benefits". I request you mathemagicians to help me calculate the amount of copper ingested by a person drinking 1l of water from this daily, and ultimately calculate the time taken (rough estimate) for health issues from copper poisoning.

We should be able to speed up the copper corrosion rate with water.
The reason why copper changes colour is because they go through a natural process called patination, where it reacts with oxygen, moisture, and other elements in the environment to form a protective layer of corrosion. With this,we should be able to speed up the corrosion if there is water nearby. This is because even when you place the copper blocks 4 blocks apart to increase the speed,it is still to slow. Mojang can implement this with several ways. (A)Minecraft Zombie Villagers get cured faster because there is blocks like iron bars and beds nearby. So,we can use the same idea for copper oxidation if there is any waterlogged blocks or water blocks nearby. (B)How dirt becomes mud by using a water bottle. With this,we can use the same feature for copper oxidation so that each water bottle used on the block takes it to the next stage of oxidation. Personally I think A is the best one,but overall this is just a fun idea for a bit of quality of life update. Is it safe to drink from a copper water bottle all day?
I bought a copper water bottle yesterday because I’ve heard about the health benefits. But today I came across a few articles saying you shouldn’t drink from it the whole day. My original plan was to fill the bottle at night, drink that water first thing in the morning (to get the copper benefits), and then just keep refilling the same bottle throughout the day to sip on. Now I’m wondering, would that actually be okay, or should I only use the copper bottle for the overnight water and switch to a different bottle (like glass or steel) for the rest of the day? submitted by /u/QuacAttack to r/HydroHomies [link] [comments]

I bought a copper bottle and took it in my checked baggage on a flight before opening it. I’ve since tried to open it to no avail. Immersed in hot water upside-down, hot lid with cold body, in the freezer, I even tried adding oil beneath the seal in the hopes it would lubricate the thread and still the lid wont budge. Best Copper Water Bottles?
Anyone had any luck or reviews with the best copper water bottles they found? Copper is antibacterial and I feel like it would taste so smooth. Everything I found online (amazon) is imitation and everyone says it either fades, corrodes, or makes the water taste weird. Anyone have any suggestion for copper bottles or heightening your water bottle quality? submitted by /u/Puzzleheaded-Star304 to r/drinkingwater [link] [comments]

Why do my husband and I experience severe flatulence after visiting his parents?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is u/ParadoxicallySweet. She posted in r/NoStupidQuestions and her own profile. I have her permission to post this! Trigger Warning: lots of discussion of farts. I'm not marking it nsfw, but be warned Mood Spoiler: bemusing but low stakes Original Post: February 10, 2024 This is not a joke. For years we have been noticing that every time we visit his parents, we fart profusely for hours afterwards. No milk products involved (I am lactose intolerant so I avoid those anyway; my husband isn’t) or unusual foods. Even if we don’t eat anything while there, it still happens. Whenever we stay there overnight, I actually suffer from a painful gas stomach ache. What is this phenomenon? Edited to add: We are both usually flatulence free (or regularly flatulent, unlike after being there). This does not happen after visiting other places. Also, we’ve been married for 10+ years, and though it took me a couple of years to notice the connection, it’s very obvious by now. It happens every. Single. Time. Regardless of food consumption. **** EDITS **** Whoa, who thought excessive flatulence would be my big Reddit moment… what an honour 😂. Thanks everyone for the theories and the laughs. Since there seems to be a lot of interest, I will be conducting a full investigation. We have ordered a water test online. Make no mistake, there will be no stone left unturned. I believe between the both of us we are drastically elevating the levels of methane in the atmosphere every time we visit. If not for ourselves, we have to solve this mystery for the environment’s sake. FAQ: ELEVATION & DISTANCE: where I live 520m, where they live it’s 503m. Had hard time finding this one out because they live outside the city, but here it is. I think that pretty much eliminates this as a theory. Distance is 40km - 45min by car. Do they feed you lentils/beans/broccoli/artichokes: I love both beans and lentils and cook them frequently at home. My MIL does not ever cook beans. More importantly, the farts when we leave there are worse than bean farts. Think long gushes of wind, like air leaving a small untied balloon. It also happens when we do not eat there at all. Do they fart? Do they know? The accepted topics of conversation are world politics, current events, careers and local issues, with many poignant silences sprinkled in between. Farting is not on that list. The mood there is kind of like an episode of The Crown (not one centred around Charles or Diana). Think high brow north-European academically-inclined people. I am the wild card of the family; a heavily tattooed Latina creative. I am the only one without a college degree. If even their own son won’t ask, I cannot be the one to bring up farts their presence. Is it stress? We do lead stressful lives. Visiting them, while mentally taxing, is not the most stressful situation in our lives. We do not fart this profusely in other stressful environments. Do you laugh/talk a lot when you’re there? No for both. So unless staring blankly into the void is equivalent to laughing, this is not the reason. ARE YOU CANADIAN? I’ve been getting multiple messages asking me this. It is deeply intriguing and has me wondering if there’s a stereotype I’m not aware of that Canadian people fart a lot? Does Canada… produce a lot of gas? Please explain if you can. I AM NOT CANADIAN. I am South American! Update Post 1: February 11, 2024 (Next Day) Title: The water bottle. Filled it at the Farthouse. Results tbd. Image description: a water bottle full of water. There is no discernible color. Update 2 (Same as OG Post): February 11, 2024 (Same Day as Update) *** UPDATE 2 - AFTER FIRST VISIT *** So, we just dropped off the kids there and took an empty bottle. We filled it there and brought back it home. Needless to say, I am farting as I type this. I will wait for the farting to subside, and once I am healed, I intend on drinking said water in the comfort of my own home. This should help establish wether or not the water alone affects me or if there’s an emotional component to the flatulence equation; maybe it’s a unique combination of weird water and the slow death of joy. Will keep you posted. The water test should arrive in a few days, and I will then use it once we pick up the kids next Saturday (I’m guessing we need to use it on fresh water straight off the tap for optimal results). Thanks! Update Post 3: February 24, 2024 (2 weeks later) Title: Fartgate Update: The fantastic results of my water analysis Farting friends of Reddit, here I finally am, delivering the first results of my fart-water research. It did take me a while to muster up the courage to share these, as they were… tragically underwhelming. I had envisioned an experiment where I would bring my own water, whereas my husband would drink theirs as a control, and we’d then observe whether both our sphincters sang on the way home or not. Unfortunately, the visit to pick up the children from my in-laws was almost transactional, and too short for me to personally test the effects of the water on my body as I had hoped. There was no water drinking, no poignant silences over tea, no feelings of impending doom to the sound of my father-in-law’s low rumbling voice recounting the never-ending story. We barely talked. I did get to test the water with the test I bought. The kit included tests for nitrates nitrite (?) lead iron copper hardiness pH -chlorine As per the results, the only things that seem really “off” are the pH and the hardiness, both having very high values. I do wonder if these are enough to induce such an extravagant display of wind; if any doctors read this, please do enlighten me. I would have needed to stay there for longer to do the bacteria test. I intend on doing it in a few weeks once I visit them again. But, until then, the strongest theory is that pH and water hardiness are likely to blame. Editor's note: OOP included several images of the test results. This one here shows the results of the pH and hardness test. Relevant Comments: The pH levels: It got really really pink at first (it took me a couple of minutes to take the pictures since I was testing it all simultaneously, and the 7 was red, not pink) so I’m actually interpreting the result as… 8.5-10, not regular pH. I had to reminisce a little about being a teen in my school’s science lab - all the feels 🥲 Maybe if the water is that alkaline, it might be disrupting your stomach acid? I think that’s the case. I usually have a really acidic stomach and take a proton pump inhibitor for that on the regular (it’s a side effect of my ADHD meds). So it would definitely affect my digestion if I was suddenly less acidic. I’ll still test for bacteria to make sure though. What happened to the bottle you brought home to drink? Well, I intended on drinking it but… it was my one week away from the kids with my husband and I had hoped to enjoy the most of our top physical form during that time, if you catch my drift. Whereas I’m not the judgey or particularly shy type, I do think we would have been rather “bouncy” if we had drank the water. And loud, in all the wrong ways. So I couldn’t bring myself to do it. What country is this? Did you just move there? Germany :) No, I moved here 13 years ago, so definitely not “adapting” If it is the pH, would your husband have that much gas? Is he on the same meds? He’s not, so I guess that is a partial flaw in the theory. How do these results compare to the ones of your water at home? That I do not know. Unfortunately we’re currently not… financially flexible, so I could only get one kit. 😅 Editor's Note: OOP updated today after this was posted. Update Post: March 2, 2024 To whom it may concern: My mystery has not yet been solved. Bob Dylan once sang that the ‘answer is blowing in the wind’; my answer certainly seems to be. Makes you wonder if he encountered digestive issues similar to ours in his younger years. If anyone is still following my saga in search for the truth, I do have a small update that sheds some light onto one of the questions I have been asked the most: Do your kids also suffer from the same problems? Up to this point, I was convinced that this was not the case. You see, for the past few years, flatulence is the only topic of conversation when on the drive home from visiting their grandparents. My husband and I become like two obsessed cops discussing an unsolved case, except our soundtrack is not synth music (although it does have a lot of bass). My oldest child is 9, old enough that I would expect her to express some bewilderment if she suddenly felt like a helium balloon, especially if both her parents were talking about farts for 45 minutes in the car while audibly farting. She never did, so I figured this was an adults-only issue. So I never gave it much thought. After reading the question so many times, I did decide to ask her, just to clear the air for good. Me: “Child, do you also notice that you fart a lot during/after visiting your grandparents?” Child: “Oh, ABSOLUTELY!!! I can’t stop! It’s like I’m a rocket, ready to fly into space!” I was… dumbfounded. How had she never expressed this? All this time, she just sat there in silence, quietly sharing our plight, like a fart ninja. I asked her why she never said anything. “I was listening. I didn’t have anything to say. I wanted to see if you two could come up with the solution. And sometimes I got bored so I just.. stopped listening”. My baby; truly a quality specimen of the neurodivergent kind. Also flatulent. Conclusion: alcohol cannot be to blame. EDIT: we will likely be visiting with the in-laws on March 26-28. More information will come then. Relevant Comment: Nerves: As for nervous: I do not feel especially nervous there, I think. Though constantly wanting to fart does make me uncomfortable. Edit: OOP commented on this post! Guys, I am not only flatulent, but also flattered and somewhat flabbergasted. Thank you for all the upvotes and interest in my mystery, despite its mundane nature and lack of explosive plot twists. (Do forgive me, but I do have to say this, as saccharine as it is: For all who have taken the time to type kindest words complimenting my humour or writing, you have no idea how happy you made me. Honestly. It might have been simply a few nice words to you - to me, it meant a lot. submitted by
