Fortune 500 company fired me because of a mathematically impossible customer service metric
Earlier this week, I was fired by Intuit, Inc. I was making enough money to qualify for food stamps and apparently a Fortune 500 company - the world’s leading financial tech company - couldn’t afford to keep me around anymore. The reason why comes down to a horrible, intentionally broken formula. My job was to take calls from Quickbooks Online users struggling to use their crummy, overly complicated program and help those people out. I found the job pretty easy for someone who knows how to use the program, knows basic bookkeeping practices, and can go 5 minutes without telling a customer to shut up. A couple months into the job, my whole team’s hours were cut suddenly. I sometimes found odd jobs to make up for the money but the point is they were barely paying me anything when they started threatening my job. Why was my job in danger? I showed up on time and did what I was assigned to do. But we were being measured by a made-up, proves-and-shows-nothing statistic called TNPS (Total Net Promote Score) - you see guys, my tnps was low. And if that sounds like nonsense to you, just brace yourself: To figure out your score they send email surveys to any customer you have had a 20 minute discussion with. If that customer gives you a six or below, you fail. 7s and 8s are trashed, and only 9s and 10s are considered good enough. In order to “meet the standards for metrics” your score must be 95, meaning 19 out of every 20 surveys you get must be a 9 or above. Why use a ten point scale and not a 5 (or even 3) point scale? Why not send surveys to people whose calls lasted at least 5 minutes rather than 20? Why is the goal 95% instead of a humanly achievable number like 75%? Because FUCK YOU, that’s why. We’re only asking the people with complicated issues or simple minds to evaluate you. Well, a customer I succeeded in helping but was still grumpy gave me a 6. A person whose comments said I “went above and beyond” gave me a 1. Another 1 came from a person who I lost connection to, only to call them back a minute later. A third 1 referred to me as a woman (there are certainly ladies out there who sound like me, but I assure you I sound like a man). So was I allowed to discard these obviously false bad reviews? No!! Why? Because fuck you, that’s why. So this means by getting these four 'detractor' reviews that I didn’t deserve, I now had to get SEVENTY SIX people on the phone for a period of least 20 minutes- meaning this would take a mathematical minimum of 25 hours, or one full week after the schedule cut. Each of these 76 would have to get survey emails, actually bother to fill them out, and give only 9s or 10s or else I am apparently fucking fired. TNPS clearly isn’t a metric to measure competence, it’s a Kobayashi Maru meant to justify firing good workers. When someone puts you in a no-win situation, don’t accept your firing or your anything else as a loss. They don't deserve the right to tell you if you succeeded or failed, only you know that for sure. And if you’re going to fill out customer service forms, give the motherfucker a 10. Our lives are all hard enough as it is, nobody needs their manager at Chili's lecturing them over a 7 because the margarita was watered down. EDIT: Thanks for love, comrades. Bread and roses to you all. I'm gonna post a link to an article from a month ago that probably explains the truth of what happened. https://techcrunch.com/2026/05/20/intuit-to-lay-off-over-3000-employees-to-refocus-on-ai/ submitted by /u/justintensity to r/antiwork [link] [comments]

AITAH for how I responded to a customer service person?
Was I a Karen or is this legitimately not my problem? Last night I placed a grocery order with Walmart to be delivered today between 8 and 9 AM. I was scheduled to start work at 11 AM and had to leave the house by 10:30 AM to get there. At 8:30 AM, I received a message that my order was delayed and would not be arriving until between 11 AM and 1 PM. My order had things like fish, dairy, and frozen items. It’s 28°C (83°F) here today, so it’s stinking hot. When I saw the reschedule email, I called the local Walmart to ask if I could choose a new time because it was just going to ruin the food. They said I had to call Instacart, so I did. I don’t have an Instacart account, and did not realize that Walmart has a third-party service provider for their deliveries. I was concerned about was food arriving on my front doorstep after I had gone to work and baking in the sun all day. I would have to return everything that melted or was perishable to Walmart anyway, so I thought I would call to schedule a different time so there was no food waste. Also, I get that shit happens and sometimes there are delays. No problem at all. I didn’t want to cancel, I wasn’t pressed that I wasn’t getting my groceries right then, I just wanted to set a later time so the food wouldn’t spoil on my porch. The person on the phone told me it wasn’t possible unless I accepted a $15 “change order” fee. I said no, I chose a time and gave myself an hour and a half of a buffer, this was on them, and I was not going to pay a service fee because they weren’t able to meet the order timeline. I wasn’t asking to cancel, just to push it back to 6 PM or later. They suggested if I wasn’t ok with the $15 reschedule fee, I could cancel which would have a $25 cancellation fee. I said no, this is their problem to solve because the delay was not my doing, and Instacart needed to find another solution because I wasn’t willing to pay a fee. The staff member then said I was entitled, that they don’t make special exceptions because I can’t adjust my schedule, and this is their policy. She also said they have my card number on file so she can charge me whatever fee she wants. I let her know that the call was being recorded and not to speak with me like that or I’d file a complaint (I live in Canada, we have one party recording consent, and I was calling from my work cell phone which automatically records calls. I was not maliciously recording). She told me it was illegal, I said it wasn’t, and reminded her that Instacart was also recording the call so it shouldn’t matter. She then shrieked that I was threatening her, yelled at me about her privacy rights, and that she was going to ban me from their service. When I say shrieked, I mean literally ear piercing screaming at me. I said “If you ban me from grocery delivery over this, this call goes on the internet.” She shrieked again, said I’m violating her charter rights and the company policy, I’ve been banned, and hung up on me. I ended up calling corporate Walmart, they were understanding and able to cancel the order without a penalty fee. The person I spoke with was super helpful and agreed it was just going to waste money, food, and that it was them who made the time change so they will make it work. Great. It got resolved and I resubmitted the order just fine for an afternoon delivery, so I am not banned apparently. But I’ve been replaying this in my head. Was I the problem on the Instacart call? I know everybody says they aren’t the problem, which is why I want to know if I have blinders on. Genuinely I was not rude or combative until she called me entitled. The local Walmart conversation was pleasant, the corporate Walmart conversation was pleasant, but the Instacart one seemed unnecessarily aggressive and dramatic. Am I the asshole here? 😬 submitted by /u/Shepsinabus to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

EXPOSED: The FCC Has Unanimously Approved A Plan To Require Government-Issued ID From Every American Who Wants A Phone Number, Including Prepaid Burner Phones, And Is Also Considering Retaining ID Data For Four Years And Cross-Referencing New Customers Against Federal Law Enforcement Watchlists 🤯💥
On April 30, 2026, the Federal Communications Commission voted unanimously to advance a sweeping “Know Your Customer” rule proposal that would require every telecommunications provider in the United States, covering traditional carriers, mobile operators, and Voice over Internet Protocol services, to verify a customer’s identity before activating service. The specific information the proposal contemplates collecting includes a customer’s full legal name, physical address, government-issued ID, and an existing phone number, with additional scrutiny required for high-volume customers who may need to explain their intended use case before service is granted. The FCC is framing the rule entirely as a robocall crackdown, arguing that the principal reason robocallers can flood American phone networks with billions of illegal calls annually is that negligent carriers allow customers to acquire phone numbers with no meaningful identity verification, making enforcement after the fact nearly impossible because the bad actors are effectively anonymous. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr’s own prior statements acknowledge that the core problem is specific carriers not vetting their customers, which is precisely why civil liberties advocates are pointing out that requiring every American to surrender their identity to get a phone number is a maximally broad response to a problem that Carr himself has described as concentrated among a small subset of providers. The surveillance infrastructure the proposal would construct goes considerably beyond what the robocall framing suggests, and the FCC is asking for public comment on provisions that make that clear. The commission is specifically seeking input on whether carriers should be required to retain copies of customer identity documents for a minimum of four years after a user cancels service, meaning your ID, physical address, and legal name would remain in a telecommunications company database for years after you’ve stopped being their customer. It’s also seeking input on whether providers should cross-reference all incoming customers against federal and local law enforcement watchlists prior to granting network access, a provision that would effectively turn every carrier into an extension of law enforcement’s surveillance infrastructure, blocking service to anyone on a watchlist before they’ve been charged with or convicted of anything. The financial penalty structure being proposed to enforce compliance would hold carriers liable at between $1,000 and $15,000 per illegal call placed by any poorly verified customer on their network, a per-call liability model borrowed directly from banking’s anti-money laundering regulatory framework, and one that creates enormous financial pressure on carriers to over-verify and over-retain rather than risk the exposure. The FCC is also flagging behavioral red flags that might trigger additional scrutiny, including using a virtual office address, paying for service with cryptocurrency, operating a suspicious website, or using an email address that “raises concerns,” a list that describes the normal operational security practices of journalists, activists, abuse survivors, and whistleblowers. Prepaid phones, what most people call burner phones, are the specific technology this proposal would effectively eliminate as an anonymous communication tool, and the population most dependent on them as a safety mechanism is not primarily criminals. Domestic violence survivors use prepaid phones because their abusers don’t know the number and can’t track it. Whistleblowers use them to contact journalists without their employer or government knowing. Journalists use them to protect sources in exactly the situations where source protection matters most. People in immigration proceedings use them because linking their communications to a verified government ID carries legal and physical risks they can’t afford. The ACLU and Electronic Frontier Foundation have both noted that this proposal, if adopted as currently framed, would eliminate the last semi-anonymous communication tool available to ordinary Americans, and that the robocall justification doesn’t survive scrutiny when the remedies being contemplated include mandatory watchlist screening and multi-year data retention for every customer in the country. The rules are not yet final, the public comment period is ongoing, and any final regulatory action would come later, but the unanimous commission vote to advance the proposal signals that the FCC’s direction is clear. The question isn’t whether this is being seriously considered. The question is whether the public comment process will produce a version of the rule that targets the actual bad actors instead of building a national identity registry for every person who wants to make a phone call. submitted by /u/InterstellarKinetics to r/InterstellarKinetics [link] [comments]

No ability to reach customer service at all?
I logged into Amazon the other day to try to sort out an order issue. There is now absolutely no way that I can see to initiate a chat or phone call from Amazon. Customer service rep says I will cost him his job if I leave Rogers
I called Rogers from the UK to try and put a temporary hold on my account until I’m back in Canada and can port my number to Fongo. I called three different times, one of the times I was on hold for over 2 hours on a Saturday, then they HUNG UP on me “because of call volumes”. Other two times was over 45 mins on hold and I gave up. THEN, I end up calling and using a different tag for my call type, I get to speaking with someone (finally). This person was VERY strange and messed up. He put me on hold to “check with another team on being able to do the temporary hold” puts me on hold for 10 minutes, comes back and says ok so I think you should do a temporary hold on the account. Wasn’t that what you put me on hold to ask about??? Nope, he was “just checking stuff out”. Puts me on hold again. Comes back and says sorry I’m on hold with the other team still. ???? Even internally they’re putting each other on hold at this company?? Then I said you know what I am going to cancel my account. I can’t stand this company. He said multiple times no I’m checking on the hold and that I shouldn’t cancel we need your business. Then I said no, I want to cancel now stop talking about the hold. He said you’re going to cost me my job if you leave. Then I said, it wouldn’t surprise me at this company, but you are fine. He apparently cancelled the phone line, gave me a reference number, and then reiterated how I cost him his job. I have not yet received a confirmation email that my service has been cut, so I don’t actually think he even cancelled it in the end. This company is a complete joke - we need more consumer protections in this country. And more competition. submitted by /u/HappyCanucks to r/Rogers [link] [comments]

LPT: Lock your phone number
TLDR: log into your Verizon/phone company app and turn on the security setting for "number lock", "transfer lock", or "account takeover protection". It's free and easy to set up, and it massively improves your security automatically. Phone companies leave your number unlocked by default, so if anyone has enough info about you, like your full name, DOB, SSN, address, etc, they can call customer service and trick them into releasing your phone number. At which point your texts will be diverted to the scammers, and you might not notice until it's too late and they've already received text OTPs for your bank account. Fortunately, most phone companies let you use their app/website to "lock" your phone number, which makes it impossible to transfer or "port out" your phone number to a different phone/carrier unless you log into your account and unlock it first. In addition, you can usually set up 2 factor authentication or a passkey so it's really hard for hackers to get into your phone account and unlock your number. EDIT (credit to u/boilerwire): if you're activating number lock, make sure your wireless account's 2FA method (if any) does NOT depend on physically having your phone, otherwise you might be in trouble if you lose your phone. Like, if your 2FA method is an SMS OTP code, and you lose your phone, it might be tough to get back into your wireless account and unlock your number so you can transfer it to a replacement phone. FWIW I've heard Verizon can snail mail you a backup password to regain access. Passkeys or email OTP codes are better than SMS OTPs, especially for protecting a wireless account with your locked phone number. SMS OTPs are, for better or worse, a common option for logging in, so it can be disastrous if a hacker receives your text messages. With a locked number and a wireless account secured by 2FA, your online accounts will be more secure automatically. You just have to remember to log in and unlock your number when you're upgrading to a new phone, then lock it again after you've switched. submitted by /u/stimulusnprinter500 to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]

I called Walmart Customer Service for help with my switch 2 preorder and they cancelled my preorder without my permission and now my Walmart account is inexplicably gone.
Edit: The situation is still unresolved with Walmart, other than the fact that I'm never purchasing anything from them again, but I just want to thank everyone who took the time to offer help or words of comfort. What happened over the past few days was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life and I just really appreciated the kind words that were offered. I read every single one of them. Edit2: I got a response from one of the accounts I was told to reach out to to try to get resolution on this and I had them ask me for my information. They seemed nice and said they would forward it to the appropriate team and five minutes later and this was the response: "It looks like your account is still active and capable of placing orders. Apologies for any mix up or incenvenience. (that's how it was spelled) Please wait 24-48 hours before attempting to place another order." Edit3: This morning I got a message from their customer "care" department telling me that it appears the order was cancelled at "my request". I guess that's what the customer service agent put in the system to cover up her mistake. I've gone from bummed out to furious at this point. I've completely given up on Walmart, their customer service is completely useless. I'm going to try to get a switch elsewhere. I will continue to update if the situation changes and thanks again for all the kind words. Edit4: Someone from Walmart just contacted me and it was kind of a 'serious business' type of email, very different from what I have been receiving from customer care. For those still following along, I'll update when i know more. Edit5: . I promised an edit 5, so here it is. After a full month, I can't believe this is finally over. I am superstitious, so I didn't want to post until it WAS truly over. After the original Walmart ordeal and after my post on reddit, a very kind person here who lived in the same state as me offered to sell me their spare system. I was in talks with walmart's escalated customer service, and the woman there was really trying to help me, but time was ticking on by and right up until the evening of the launch, I really had no concrete answer from Walmart about whether I was getting a system or not, so I decided to take the redditor up on his offer. We made the arrangements to meet and we actually met today. After I committed to taking the spare system from the redditor, I decided that if Walmart did SOMEHOW come through with the system they were attempting to get for me (which I didn't trust they would), that I would get it to another person who also had his Walmart order messed up because of a glitch with Paypal at checkout. I picked up the system today from him and I am so grateful for his kindness. As far as the walmart thing - The woman in escalated customer service was fantastic to me. She went above and beyond to try to fix this, but it took a month (no fault of hers, she was great), and honestly, getting to their escalated customer service is harder than getting into the minus world in Super Mario Bros. Someone on reddit suggested that I contact the CEO of Walmart's email to get help ,and I mean, I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to kick up a fuss, so I felt weird doing that, but it was literally the only way I got anyone to listen to me. In the end, Walmart, unbelievably, several hours before launch, did finally come through and resolve the issue and the spare system went to another gamer in need. While the escalated customer care woman was great, but I'm sorry to say that I will never buy anything from Walmart after this. They made things right, but even then, it did not win me back as a customer and I don't think they ever will. I want to thank literally everyone who commented on this post and offered to help me. Thanks to you all, I not only managed to get a switch, but I also managed to get one for someone else whose order got messed up... so thank you all, sincerely. Original Post: I'm having a bit of a ... messy situation with my switch preorder, and that's an understatement. The other day, I preordered a switch 2 from Walmart. I was extremely excited, but I noticed that I accidentally had the incorrect address. I sometimes donate to local cat shelters and I had sent litter boxes to a local shelter, so the address was theirs! I was going so quickly, I didn't notice it was wrong. I called walmart to have it fixed and they kept saying they would have to delete my preorder. I finally spoke with a manager and he said 'No worries, I'll escalate it and have the address changed! it will take 72 hours." In 72 hours, I tried to log into walmart and my account was deleted. I called customer service to ask for help and they told me that the account was fine (it wasn't) and so I asked for help with an address on my Nintendo Switch 2 order. The woman said she would have to delete my order and I said "no, do not do that under any circumstances". She said "okay, understood". Five seconds later, I got an email from customer service telling me my order was cancelled. I panicked and said "DID YOU JUST CANCEL MY ORDER!?" Dead air. She realized that she made a huge mistake and she said "I... I'll fix it. I'll fix it. No worries." She told me she'd fix it and that she forwarded it to the management team and that it would be fixed in 3 hours. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me that was a lie. I said "Is there anyone in the company that can help me?" and he said "log in and order another one." I said "I can't, my account isn't working." He said "oh, that's because it's deleted." I asked why it was deleted. He said "i have no idea. You'll have to create a new one." I told him that I only have one phone number and he said "oh, that's too bad.". Does anyone know if there's any way to get actual help from Walmart? They just told me "there's nothing we can do." Everyone told me different things. Ultimately, at the end of this, my preorder is lost, my account is deleted and they told me there's nothing anyone can do. They told me to create a new account and order again, but since my account is messed up/gone? for some reason, they won't allow me to reuse my cell phone number to sign in. I'm so unbelievably bummed out. I'm just a girl who wanted a Switch and thought she was doing the right thing by trying to fix the problem and now I've got no Switch 2. If any of you fine people here have any suggestions on what course of action I can take, I'm all ears. Also - i hate to admit this, but I'm a bit older and I don't do this preorder thing a lot, so forgive me if there are some things i didn't know about how preorders work. I come from a time when you had to run to toys r us and pray the tickets for the games or systems were there when you got there. submitted by /u/ghost_kappa to r/NintendoSwitch2 [link] [comments]

Samsung’s Customer Service is Designed to Wear You Down
Samsung makes some of the best hardware on the market, but if you ever need customer service, be prepared for a frustrating, time-wasting nightmare. I bought the Galaxy Ring along with Samsung Care+, thinking I was paying for peace of mind. Instead, I ended up stuck in an endless cycle of transfers, scripted troubleshooting, and hold times that felt like they were designed to make me give up. My ring became completely inoperable. It wouldn’t charge, connect to my phone, or reset. I reached out to Samsung Care+, expecting them to honor their promise of "hassle-free service" and "next-business-day replacements." Instead, I was thrown into an intentionally inefficient process: The website told me to call a phone number. The phone number sent me to an automated system that emailed me. The email directed me back to the same phone number. When I finally reached a live agent, they transferred me back and forth between Warranty and Care+, each claiming it was the other department’s responsibility. This loop went on for days, with hold times of over 30 minutes between transfers. Every agent made me repeat the same scripted troubleshooting steps, ignoring the fact that the device was completely dead. Their only advice was to "try charging it again." Having Samsung Care+ actually made things worse because it gave them an excuse to avoid taking responsibility. I had to beg for someone to process a warranty claim, something that should have been automatic. And here’s the part that really feels intentional. The Samsung Care+ website claims a 4.5-star rating for customer satisfaction, but there is no way to actually leave a review on the site. Every review I have found on external platforms is overwhelmingly negative. It looks like Samsung is inflating their ratings while preventing real customer feedback. Samsung builds great products, but their customer service is a maze of intentional frustration. It feels designed to wear people down until they give up and just buy a replacement. If you ever need help, prepare for the worst. submitted by /u/ProbablyS8N to r/assholedesign [link] [comments]

Customer demands my personal cell number and blames me for him losing his job
I work as a claims adjuster for auto accidents. A customer filed a claim after hours, and I follow up with him first thing this morning. I have no info on the vehicle other than what he reported, and I inform him there is a possibility of it being a total loss. He immediately jumps down my throat and tells me he doesn't want his car to be a total loss, and he doesn't want me to have it moved to another location for an in person inspection. I start to discuss an alternative with him when he starts cursing at me and berating me, constantly interrupting me telling me to just pay the claim. If it were that easy of a job, I'd be paid less, and my job would be a hell of a lot easier. I explain that per his insurance agreement, we have to inspect the vehicle before I can make a payment for his claim, and we need to see if it is going to be a total loss or repairable. He continues to be an ass, so I inform him that I will disconnect the call and try talking to him again when he has regained his composure. I hang up and go into a meeting, and he proceeds to call our customer service line over and over and over. He harassed a total of 4 women and refused to end the call until I accepted his call. I explained I was in a meeting and wouldn't be out for at least another 30 minutes or so. He continued to stay on the line with them for a few more minutes before hanging up and calling customer service again. I finally have a chance to call him back, and I explain that we can try to work with his shop in having them submit photos so we can do a preliminary check to at least see if the car is a total loss or not. He tells me he sent me photos from the night before. I explain that there were no attachments to the emails he sent me, and that we need very specific photos to have the most accurate review. He proceeds to tell me it is my job to call the shop and request them... which is what I told him at the start of the call anyway. He then demands my cell phone number. I explain that I don't have a work cell phone. He states he wants my cell phone to be able to reach me over the weekend. I informed him I will not be providing that info to him. He demanded it a few more times before stating he wanted to talk with my supervisor. I stated she was already informed of the situation and would be reaching out to him when she is able to. I am not allowed to give out her contact info. He tells me that I need to have her call him immediately. I remind him that she is my supervisor, and I cannot dictate her schedule. He proceeds to try to keep me on the phone until his demands are met. I inform him that I am going to disconnect the call if there is nothing further to discuss, and he ends the call. I called the shop, and they also gave me attitude stating that I was keeping a good man from his job and that I shouldn't be wasting his time like this. I asked if they could email the photos to me just so that I can get it done, and they say they will. I have an uncommon last name, so I made sure to spell it out for them multiple times since it is part of my email address. Two hours before I leave for the day, I still don't have the photos. I text the customer and let him know, and he told me he would call them. 5 minutes before I'm supposed to leave, I call the shop again and don't get an answer or option to leave a message. I text the customer to let him know that photos aren't received yet, and we won't be able to move forward on his claim until Monday. He starts blaming me for working in a different time zone stating it isn't fair that I work 3 hours ahead of him. I explain that I don't work 3 hours ahead of him, I'm just 1 hour ahead, and the shop had all day to send me the photos needed. He now states that since he doesn't have a rental (didn't purchase the coverage), he is going to be fired on Monday, and it's all my fault. I offer to set him up with a discounted rental, and he tells me he doesn't have a rental company in his area, but it's still my fault for him losing his job! Goodness gracious! I'm so sorry to hear that! You mean to tell me that your employer is so heartless as to fire you for missing a workday unexpectedly when it's your first occurrence/infraction with them? You may want to contact your state department of labor then! He tells me I should just pay the claim, and I'm holding up his claim for no reason to make life difficult for him. I wonder what he thinks happens to adjusters who don't follow due diligence on a claim and just... pay it. We don't get cookies, that's for sure. In fact, we face termination with our employer, fines with the state the claim was handled in, and possible jail time. Oh yeah, and our employer can sue us for the money we paid to the customer without authorization, and if the customer knowingly cashes the check when they know their claim wasn't supposed to have been paid out, they get reported to the federal government for insurance fraud and sued by the insurance company for repayment of the claim. I guess I'll see what he has to say on Monday. My supervisor has been reading my notes and keeping up to date with the claim, and she is going to have a very fun conversation with him. Especially when all the calls exhibiting his bad behavior were recorded. ETA: This is a single vehicle accident where the customer hit a large object in the road that he absolutely should have seen. I won't state the specifics in case he's a Redditor. He did not file a police report, and he wanted to send me photos from the scene of the accident (which took place at night) and became more irate when I stated I need a VIN photo from the sticker inside his driver's side door. Update: Not too much going on, which is... unexpected. It's been radio silence from the customer, and I don't trust it. I'm expecting a full blow up. My supervisor called him and left a message yesterday, but he hasn't called her back either. She has informed me that I have her encouragement to put him on written only communication, and I don't have to answer his calls anymore. She also stated that if he threatens me, which I'm not sure if he will or not, she will get our security team involved, and I can press charges against him with his local police as these are recorded calls. I called the shop today and spoke with the owner. I explained how the rep I spoke with on Friday acted very unprofessionally, and he informed me that the customer had apparently been calling her nonstop on Friday and harassing her as well... because she somehow thought it was a good idea to give him her cell phone number when he demanded it. The owner is an old friend of the customer (you all called it), but he provided this info very freely and stated that after this repair, they aren't friends anymore, and he will blacklist him as the rep I spoke with is his niece. I got the photos, and there were several very thorough photos. It is pretty minor damage, and it is clear that he ran into something on the road. I can't give specifics, but it was a metal object that happened to be laying in the road that got wedged in the undercarriage. They had to pull really hard to get it unstuck, and the shop sent me a photo of the very warped item as well. Redditor sleuths also called that he has a huge custom item that was not on the policy. It's a bed cover for his truck, but there was no damage to it, and even if there was, we wouldn't cover it if he didn't have an endorsement for custom equipment. I ran this by SIU (special investigations unit), and while they agreed that the customer was acting shady as hell, they don't have enough info to start an investigation, and they stated that since it is a single car accident, we would still be obligated to cover his repairs even if he was lying. There are several states where we can deny a claim if the customer lies about how the accident happened, but sadly, this is not one of those states. I've texted the customer to let him know I got the photos and that I was in contact with the shop, but he hasn't responded, and it's radio silence. Either he's really embarrassed about his actions, as he rightly should be, or he's a ticking time bomb that's going to explode near the end of the week when I'm my busiest just to tell me in detail how I made him lose his job. We shall see. This will probably be the last update, but if anything else happens, I'll be sure to let y'all know. I truly appreciate the support and collective wtf from everyone as it confirms I'm not just being crazy or sensitive. To the one poster who told me that it's my job to handle this sort of thing and I've been trained for it: 1) I have never been trained for this level of crazy, and I challenge you to find anyone short of an orderly at a psych ward to be trained for it, and 2) It is my job to get cars fixed, not to deal with harassment and bad behavior. Let this be a reminder to everyone to be kind to others, especially the disembodied voices on your phone providing a service to you! Edit3: I've included the most recent update here: https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/193qhfz/update_customer_demands_my_personal_cell_number/. YSK that when requesting customer service of any kind, use gentle terms to convey your problem and avoid writing in all caps or swearing. When customer service representatives know they won't be rated poorly and won't have to deal with a lot of back and forth, you'll get help much faster.
Why YSK: I am a CSR and as all CSRs will attest to, it's a numbers game. Working as a customer service representative is an ungrateful job, the companies mostly want CSRs to do more numbers and the most important KPI is the customer satisfaction score and average handling time. You do more numbers at the same time keep the customer satisfied no matter how big the issue is. If a customer writes in a ticket with swear words or writes in anger, most agents avoid it and only deal with it if necessary in order to avoid getting their KPIs getting messed up, as it also affects their bonuses most of the time. To beat this and get help faster, use gentle words, as CSRs don't really get paid enough to care if you stop using their services or not, as it doesn't affect them. The moment a client becomes rude, you'll be thrown around a number of agents without getting help, as no one wants to deal with them. submitted by /u/cknyakina to r/YouShouldKnow [link] [comments]

Customs confiscated and scanned our mobile phones in Sydney
My partner (F/36/Accountant) and I (M/44/Software Dev) landed in Sydney a couple of days ago, back from a 10 day holiday in Fiji. Due to bad weather conditions, our return flight was delayed by 30 hours, so we ended up spending 30 hours in Nadi airport waiting to come home. We finally landed in Sydney late in the evening and gee wasn't it wonderful to be home! After going through the immigration check we waited at the carousel for our suitcase, dreaming of the soft bed we would soon be lying in (we only managed a few hours sleep during the long wait in Nadi airport, so we were both extremely exhausted when we landed). Once we grabbed our suitcase, we headed toward the exit and handed our arrival cards to the customs officer, and this is where things began to go pear shaped. The customs lady said "I need you to follow me", and we were led away to the bag inspection area (straight out of a scene in one of those border protection reality shows). When we arrived at the bag inspection area, we were asked to empty our pockets so we did this (including our phones). She then asked the standard stuff - did you pack your bags, are you aware of the contents etc. Then she said "you are required to provide the passcodes for your mobile phones". Normally I would have argued at this point, but we were so tired, it was easier just to comply. So we recited our passcodes and she wrote them on a piece of paper. She then summoned another officer who came over and took our phones away, out of sight, to another room. Presumably they hooked them up to some kind of machine to inspect them. They then proceeded to search our bags, but it seemed very cursory. They did not pull all the contents out of our backbacks (if we had a kilo of heroin in the bottom of one of our backpacks, they wouldn't have found it). They just seemed to be very keen to inspect/scan our phones. They were not even interested in our laptops (which we both had in case we got stranded in Fiji), which they just set aside while they searched through our suitcase. Once she finished the half-assed inspection of our bags, we then had to sit waiting for our phones to be returned. After about 30 mins, they finally came back, handed our phones to us and said we were OK to leave. Needless to say, the whole experience was extremely traumatic for both of us (but especially my partner). I understand that customs need to have the ability to search peoples phones in certain circumstances, but this is an absolute abuse of that power. I would never expect that kind of treatment returning to my home country after a trip abroad. I have racked my brain trying to figure out why we were singled out. We are both Australian Citizens with no criminal records, no associations with any criminals/religious groups/gangs/political groups. We are just a normal couple who wanted a romantic getaway from all the covid chaos in Sydney. The only unusual thing we ticked on the arrival form was the "yes" box for the question about being in contact with farm animals or wilderness areas. The major problem I have with this is the massive violation of our privacy and the lack of transparency in the process. What exactly did they take from my phone? Could be any/all of the following: Photos going back for many years My entire Gmail history going back 15 odd years (and any other associated google services - calendar apointments, keep notes, google drive files) My work emails/calendar Saved logins/passwords for various websites (including bank account and other financial logins) Every Whatsapp/SMS conversation I have ever had Contact list Potentially they could even have rooted the phone or installed spyware (probably a bit far fetched in the 30 min window, but not impossible) And what happens to this data? How is is stored? Who has access to it? Is it shared with any other government organisations? Is there a retention policy, or does it live in their system forever? I also think that if they are to inspect your phone, it should be done in front of you, the same way they have to inspect your bags in front of you. The fact they perform the inspection behind closed doors, leaves open the possibility of all sorts of abuses of power. They could add/modify things on your phone and you would have no way of countering that. It turns out Australian Border Force are allowed to arbitrarily exercise this power without any kind of oversight and there is no reporting of actual numbers of how many of these invasive searched are conducted. There is an article here that summarises the situation up nicely: https://www.crikey.com.au/2019/06/24/australia-border-privacy-loophole/ - with the main point being "its officers don’t need warrants or even reasonable suspicion. Everything is fair game for anyone who passes through immigration." This experience makes me hesitant to ever go overseas again, however if I do, I will back everything up to the cloud before I take off, and then factory reset my phone on the return flight. I am going to write a letter to my federal member about this experience - this is not the kind of thing that should be allowed to happen in a free and democratic country. There needs to be way more transparency in this process and ABF should not have arbitrary power to delve into the innermost private lives that our mobile phones now contain without reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing (especially in the case of returning Australian Citizens). Sorry for the long rant, and thanks if you made it all the way to the end! Edit: using a throwaway account for obvious reasons submitted by /u/Particular-Stage3349 to r/australia [link] [comments]

Fidelity Customer Service Number - 800-343-3548, tell them you want to direct register
Hate to spam this, but 50+ messages from various users that are still confused. i myself am shocked at how easy that really was. Simply call 800-343-3548, tell them you want to direct register. they will ask a few questions, then ask how many shares you want to send. from there they do all the heavy lifting. once the shares disapear thats when you know they are safely with CS, and simply use your social security number to locate them. LPT: recently, some automated customer service phone lines won’t let you speak to a person and insist you talk to the machine like a person instead. If you say nonsense words like “meep morp blerf norb” over and over it registers as you needing to talk to a person, and transfers you.
I was in an infinite loop on a certain Bezos related help line, asking to speak to a representative numerous times and having the automation insist I ask it my questions as If it was a person, which I did, and it was unhelpful- the only way I figured out how to get a person on the line was to make robot noises with my mouth. submitted by /u/uphill_iceskating_mf to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]

Squeezing Blood from a Stone: How I forcefully extracted customer service from EA
This is going to be a bit of a long one, but I recently wrapped up a lengthy fight with EA that ended happily and based on the number of posts I've seen here about banned accounts or purchased content disappearing I thought that my story might help a few people out. The Incident One day quite a while back I logged in to my Apex account and noticed that all my settings were weird. Keybindings were different, my mouse sensitivity was different, lots of strange changes. After my first game I noticed that my account in general was looking different -- I was a higher battlepass level than I should have been and some of my crafting materials were gone. At this point I realized that my account had been hacked and immediately changed my password and enabled two-factor authentication (which everyone should do right now!). Looking through the changes on my account I noticed that some very specific crafting materials (that rhymed with Bearloom Bards) that I had recently purchased with real money had been spent on something I didn't want. I figured that I should contact EA support and tell them about the hack and ask them to remove the items that the hacker had purchased and either refund the materials or grant me the item that I had intended to purchase. Simple, right? The Support (or lack thereof) On my first attempt I tried live chat support because it's 2021, I don't want to talk on the phone. The guy I got was pretty useless -- he offered to change my password for me (no thanks, already did that) and enable two-factor (no thanks, already did that too), but when I asked him about changing the item he said "unfortunately we can't make any changes because it's a live game" whatever the hell that means. Next step was phone support. The first person I talked to was actually kind of helpful. She informed me that yes, she could see a couple of suspicious logins on my account from halfway across the world, but she "was unable to confirm that the purchase was the result of the hack" despite there being a suspicious login and then the purchase with nothing else in between. I bashed my head against this wall for a while and then gave up, hoping to find a more reasonable support agent. The next 3 support agents I talked to were somewhere between malicious and incompetent. They were profoundly uninterested in helping me with anything, and even lied to me several times. I particularly enjoyed this conversation: Me: I talked with another support agent who told me the timings of the suspicious logins but I didn't write them down, can we review them so I can take notes? Liar: Sorry, we can't see login information. Me: Well the previous agent told me that there was a login from India on the 7th, is that correct? Liar: Let me see...yes, that's correct. Me: And then there was another login from Hong Kong on the 13th, right? Liar: Yes, I can see that. Me: So can you tell me any other login records you have in that timeframe? Liar: Sorry, we can't see login information. Me: ?????? Anyway, I gave up. I figured that if they were unwilling to give me the item I had paid for then they wouldn't be allowed to keep my money so I issued a chargeback on the purchase. EA responded as any good company would, by reaching out to me to try to understand the dispute and resolve the situation quickly and easily. Just kidding, 2 days after the chargeback they banned my EA account. Not my Apex account, my whole EA account which included a number of other purchased games. The Fight This ban ticked me off. I didn't use my EA account a ton outside of Apex and I could spin up another account for that, but it's still just a rude thing to do. I thought, hey, it's a pandemic, I have a lot of free time, let's find out how small claims court works. That was a short lived dream, it turns out that as most large companies do EA's terms of service bans you from suing them and instead you have to go through arbitration. Fine, that sounds less fun but I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario my account stays banned but EA has to pay some arbitration fees. The EA terms of service lay out exactly what you need to do, but here's the gist of it: Send them a real actual paper letter detailing your dispute Work with them for 30 days to resolve the issue If it's not resolved within 30 days then you can file for arbitration with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) So I sent them a letter, springing the extra $3 for certified mail so I would know when it was delivered. They did not respond. I sent another letter after ~3 weeks telling them in no uncertain terms that I would go to arbitration if they didn't respond. They did not respond. I opened an arbitration case. The Arbiter The ToS say that if you inform EA that you can't pay the arbitration fees then they'll cover them, so in my previous 2 letters I ended with the line "This letter serves as notice under EA terms of service Section 15 subsection C paragraph 1: EA agrees to pay all arbitration fees if arbitration begins.". The AAA website was a little confusing but their support was actually helpful and informed me that I could put $0 in the Amount Due field and add a note to the case saying that the ToS allowed it. I filled out their forms and away I went! It took about a month for the AAA to actually review and create my case, no part of this moves quickly. About a month after that I got an email from EA's lawyer's saying that they haven't had any time to review the case and the deadline was coming up, can they pretty please have a 2 week extension? I'm not sure what would have happened if I had said no, but I thought being agreeable would help my odds so I told them 1 week would be plenty. Exactly 7 days later the lawyers attached their response to my claims to the case. In it they basically said that I hadn't sent them the dispute letters and that my case should be dismissed, and even otherwise I was just a dick who violated all the ToS and I don't deserve anything and frankly I should owe them money for wasting their time with this case. I wrote up a response to them that went point by point about how that section of ToS didn't apply, how they got the facts of the case wrong here and there, etc. It was especially satisfying to send them an email copy of the letters I had sent earlier saying "well actually, I sent you letters on 3 separate occasions, here's the tracking information, you signed for them so I'm sorry that I thought you would retain them for your records". The case was quiet for another month and then the day before an arbiter was assigned (which would have cost EA $1350) I was contacted by a very friendly EA employee who asked if we could perhaps reach a settlement and drop the arbitration case. The terms of the settlement are confidential, but suffice it to say that at this point EA was open to some negotiation and the end result was to my satisfaction. In Summary If you ever have a problem with your EA account and regular customer service is shutting you down I would highly recommend going the arbitration route. It's slow as balls (took ~5 months for me) but it works. If just 1000 people went all the way through the arbitration process and offloaded the fees to EA it would cost them $1.8 million. That's enough so show up on an executive's annual review so these people are highly motivated to help you out before the case goes all the way. Plus they get charged $500 even if they settle with you so that's a nice feeling, a slap on the wrist for all their terrible customer service. If you have an issue with EA I'd do the following: Try to resolve it through phone support. Chat support is worthless and exists only to tell you no. If you don't get it fixed from support immediately (like in 1 day) draft a letter and send it certified mail to the address in the ToS. Keep this letter short (1 page or less ideally) and factual and include a line at the end about how they agree to cover any possible arbitration fees. Write down the tracking number for when they accuse you of not sending it. Exactly 30 days after delivery of your previous letter open a case with the AAA. You'll have to send EA another letter with the notice of arbitration in it, send that certified mail too. Maybe include a copy of your previous letter with it. If you want account action rather than financial reimbursement (i.e. "give my account this skin that disappeared" etc) open a settlement offer for $.01 detailing what you would like to have done. Wait When EA's lawyers eventually reply saying that your case should be summarily dismissed respond with a politely worded response about how no, your claims are valid. Wait When EA contacts you about how to settle the case remember that this is the first person you've talked to that actually gives a shit about making you happy. Be friendly! Enjoy your fixed account, probably. Thanks for reading my ridiculous saga, I hope it helps someone. If nothing else I can say that it feels amazing to triumph over a giant soulless corporation like this, even if the victory is small. Some people have asked for a kind of template for the letters I sent -- most of it has to be filled in with the details of your situation but here's an outline of what I sent: This dispute is filed by [my name] regarding the EA account registered to [email address]. You may contact me at [email/phone/fax/smoke signal]. [Insert factual details of what happened -- on date X someone hacked my account, I talked to Y customer service agents, etc] [Insert clear bullet point list of requested actions -- unban my account, restore lost purchase, etc.] Failure to respond to this dispute in a timely manner will result in me filing for resolution by arbitration. This letter serves as notice under EA terms of service section 15 subsection C paragraph 1 [check that this paragraph is accurate in case the ToS changes]: EA agrees to pay all arbitration fees if arbitration begins. submitted by /u/Taboobat to r/apexlegends [link] [comments]

LPT: If a customer service rep goes above and beyond to help with your issue, go above and beyond to make sure they're acknowledged for it
Customer service is an undervalued and under appreciated field, but it's only growing as more retailers move from brick-and-mortar storefronts to e-commerce. There is an infinite number of possible ways that orders can go wrong, and unfortunately, customer service reps are typically lowest on the corporate totem pole but also have the most face-time with customers. And don't get me wrong, there are some truly horrible companies out there (cough Comcast) who trains their CS reps to push back against customers and view customers as the enemy, but other companies (like USAA) are notorious for their obsessive focus on good customer service. If you have an issue with an order, a delivery, a credit card charge, a question, return request, or whatever it is and you're able to get in touch with a CS rep who will spend the time to walk you through the process and ensure that you're satisfied in the end, be sure to ask them how you can return the favor by either contacting their manager or request a survey to provide good feedback. As someone who (for a short time) worked in a call center, and can honestly say that it was one of the most challenging jobs I've ever had, you'd be surprised at how rare it is to get positive feedback from customers. Not only will the CS rep appreciate, but you'll feel good about helping someone out in return. submitted by /u/chiboulevards to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]

This is why people working in the service industry don't want to give out their phone numbers to random customers.

Are you SURE you want to port this hidden phone number? OK then, I hope you're ready for the largest phone bill in history.
Posted this over in r/talesfromcallcenters, and a few folks there thought you all might enjoy this one, so I'm posting it here as well. Apologies for the length, and as I stated the first time, I don't do TL;DRs; you either want to read it or you don't, though I can promise a solid customer comeuppance at the end! It happened a long time ago, and I can't remember the exact dialogue that occurred (everything below is a paraphrase), but you can bet I remember the situation and how it turned out! This was almost ten years ago now. I was working in the number portability department for a cellular phone company (for those that haven't used it, number portability is the ability to move your existing phone number between carriers). One day, a guy calls in, asking to port his landline number to this new cell phone he just bought with us. So far, totally routine. I start moving through this every day process. To prevent fraud, part of the porting process is us (the new carrier) including some of his old service provider information on our request to his old carrier for the phone number. I start asking for it (stuff like his old service provider account number, service address with them, et cetera) and he gets super-evasive. "I don't have it with me; I'm not going to be able to get my hands on a bill for a while," and so on and so forth. Again, nothing I don't commonly run into. I offer to call his old company with him to get the info, and finally after a couple of more minutes of weird, shady dodging, he finally gives in and explains to me what's going on. His phone number had been used by him, in the same situation, for almost ten years: fully functional in their switching system, somehow reserve-blocked in their number inventory to prevent the number from being assigned to new customers, but invisible to the phone company's main billing system. What this effectively meant for him was unlimited free phone use as long as he kept quiet about the situation. Super sketchy on the moral end, but there it was. And now this guy wants to port the number to his cell phone. I have connections at the landline company and can have it investigated on their side to make it happen, but first I explain to him that numbers have to be billing-active at the old service provider to be transferable to a new company, because (due to the fraud prevention I mentioned earlier) they have to match the info we send them against account records. Add to this the fact that if the landline company learned about what happened with this number during the process to pull it out of limbo and put it on a billing account, they would likely bill him for a decade of service that he never saw a bill for, or worse yet, press charges against him (he was effectively knowingly stealing services from them for years by using it but not notifying them about the lack of billing). There is even a simple, winning solution for him, that I offered to him at least three times during this conversation: I'll give you a new cell phone number, and since your number is fully active in the other carrier's switch, you can just set up switch-based call forwarding to the new cell number using the landline phone. I didn't say the part out loud where the landline company would still never know, but it was very clear he understood the implication. Nope, not good enough. I've gotta have that number native on my cell phone! After covering the ground with him a few times about the easy workaround and the likely consequences if he persisted, he finally got testy with me and demanded I start this process, nearly escalating over me. No sir, no need for that. I was just looking out for you and making sure you understood exactly what you were asking for, but you have told me that you do, so let's do this thing. I set his expectations that due to the situation, this was going to take much longer than normal, and he's fine with that. I set up a follow up schedule with him, let him go, and start calling my peeps at the landline company. Explained to them what was going on, and the wheels are set into motion. Over almost the next full month, my contacts at the landline company physically tracked down not only the Secret Phone Number That Time Forgot (that only took a day or two), but they also found history on it in their backup records going back pretty much the whole time. They were happy to do it all, since I had explained what happened, and they knew that there were ten years worth of back services to charge to this guy if they could locate the evidence. Once the number was built onto a billing account over there, I ported it to my company as normal (it took less than a week at that point). I spoke with one of my contacts again a couple of months later on a different matter, and the conversation turned back to this guy again. She couldn't give me exact figures, but she told me that the bill that generated for the landline account wasn't just the four or five days of service after the account was built that it took to port his number. It was the entire span of service time... about ten and a third years all told, plus the late fees and interest that would have accompanied it. This had to be some mind-boggling, record-setting figure, because most accounts are shut down after a few months of delinquency, but this one couldn't be, because the landline company didn't know it even existed! I would have loved to have been there when that guy opened the statement! But alas, his reaction will have to be left to our imaginations. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed the tale. submitted by /u/morgan423 to r/MaliciousCompliance [link] [comments]

ULPT: Call the number on the side of the cups or receipt they give you to the customer phone line. Mention a missing item from the drive through and they will usually send you a couple free coupons for the missing items
Used this a few times as a broke teenager and just thought of it again today. 🤭🤫 hope it still works submitted by /u/nikkyninja to r/UnethicalLifeProTips [link] [comments]

Alienware has given me the worst customer service i have ever received in my life.
UPDATE 5 (4/4/17): So i finally received the new laptop on friday 3/31. But i still had to play some games with customer service though even after all this. They kept me updated every few days on my new order which was great, but then went MIA right before the date they told me it would show up which was the 28th. Last i heard from them was on the 24th and it took me 3 more phone calls and 2 more emails on the 27th and 28th to finally find out why it hasnt shipped. Then when they shipped it 3 days late, they couldnt even upgrade me to 1 day shipping like they said they would. But atleast the thing is finally in my hands. So far the new model has been 10x better than the old model, and actually works the way it is supposed to. CPU/GPU temps seems to be in line, screen isnt falling off, and the 7820hk is actually reaching the speeds they promised. I do have one small issue with the shitty toshiba SSD they put in there which is running hot tho. I requested a replacement and they told me they would send someone to my house and swap it out with a samsung SSD instead. So hopefully that doesnt take 93 days. All in all, i still stand by what i said with my last update that there customer service is pretty shitty. If you plan on buying an alienware laptop, be ready to be on the phone constantly making sure they dont forget about you. For example i called yesterday morning to request the SSD replacement, and they told me someone would call me back later in the day to set up an appointment. No one called and its now 28 hours since i called and im getting ready to get on the phone again to call them. If i didnt im pretty sure i would never hear from them again. UPDATE 4: Someone finally called me from alienware this morning 3/17. There going to send me the updated newer model i was originally promised with next day shipping. I got a order number already and if all goes as planned i should have it in my hands next week. I was told they are going to personally test it before it leaves to make sure everything is in order. So hopefully they actually do that. I talked to marcos boss, who is going to investigate and figure out what the hell his problem is and make sure he gets an attitude change. He told me marco was just supposed to start the exchange again, but for some reason he decided to take the liberty of giving me his own opinion on the matter. When he should have just shutup and done his job. I also talked to a supervisor in the tech department, who seemed like a down to earth guy. He assigned himself to me for now on, and also talked to another tech and filled him in on everything in case hes not around. So hopefully if i have any issues in the future with alienware i can just go straight to someone who is competent and has the power to actually do something. Overall this has been a shit show and anyone looking to buy an alienware should read my story and all the posts in this thread just to know what could happen to them. There tech support/exchange department is a mess and at this moment i just cant recommend them. Im sure some people might have better luck than me, but that fact that all this is was needed just to accomplish a simple task is pretty sad. They just really need to get there shit together when it comes to customer service if they expect to keep customers and draw people to there brand. They could make the best product in the world, but its meaningless if they cant even support it. I will update this again when the laptop is finally in my hands and im praying nothing like this happens again or to anyone else. Hopefully they can somehow turn around and change some opinions on them in the future. Thanks again to everyone who upvoted this, retweeted my tweet, and shared there stories in the comments below. This post really shows just how great the PC community is and reminds me why i switched over from consoles years ago. Its really amazing that a bunch of random people on the internet are so willing to help out a fellow gamer who is getting the shaft. Plus this was upvoted so much its now one of the top posts on here, so hopefully anyone looking to invest in alienware in the future will see it so they can get a good read. Thanks for helping me sort this all out! I really appreciate you guys taking the time! I bought a alienware r4 gtx 1080 laptop during the black friday sale. Fast forward and since ive recieved it ive been having nothing but issues with it. My SSD randomly disappears/gets corrupted (when i boot windows needs to fix it 25% of the time). The bottom bezel arrived disconnected from the screen and refuses to stay attached. Every week since then ive had to push it back into place because the glue refuses to hold it. If i close the lid and awake the computer from sleep then play a game the fans refuse to rev up. They just get stuck at the low RPM's no matter what the temps are and last but not least it showed up with 25C+ core differentials. I launched a game for the first time played for a total of 5 minutes before it just completely shut off from overheating. So i called to get a replacement unit since i was still in the 30 day exchange period and was accepted after confirming all my issues with technical support. That was on 12/26 with the estimated delivery of 1/15. Fast forward to the 20th i called to see why it hasnt shipped. I was told it would be shipping out within 24-48 hours. The 25th rolled around and i called again. My case was supposedly escalated. I was told they would look into it, and get back to me within 48 hours. Never heard a word from them after 3 days so i called again. Was told there was a slight hold up, but i should be getting my replacement within a week. A week later i called again and was told that there is a part shortage and my order was delayed until further notice. I was offered a replacement heatsink for my heat issues. Was told they would call to setup an appointment to send out a tech. Three days later i heard nothing so i called again. Was then told there where no heatsinks in stock at the moment, but they should be getting them in within a week. A week later i call back and was told "the alienware r4 is riddled with so many incompatibilities and defects that it can not be fixed". This was around mid February and i posted this on reddit about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/5q6ksy/the_top_of_the_line_r4_according_to_alienware_is/?st=j0bnujov&sh=8d4806cc Was told in that thread that "this is not okay at all" and to contact [email protected] with all of details, order numbers, and service case numbers. Did that and never heard a word back about my case. Emailed them a second time 3 days later incase the first one never went though and never heard a word back again either. So i call back again and was told that "someone was going to get to the bottom of this for me" I went though all my issues all over again with them since no one seemed to have a clue about anything involving my case. Was told it was going to take to long on the phone, and that they would need to call me back once its settled. Believe it or not someone actually did call me back for once on 3/2. I was told that they didnt have any replacement 6820hk available but since they were releasing a new 7820hk model on the 13th i could just be upgraded to that. I was then told that since it wasnt released yet they couldnt swap my exchange order for that model at this time. But to call back on the 13th when it shows up on dells site. A few days later someone from dell calls me again. I explained the conservation i had with the other dell employee and he tells me the same thing. Just to call back when the model shows up. 4 days later my exchange is cancelled. I call again for one what feels like the 50th time and talked to a women who was nice as can be. I really felt like she cared about the nonsense ive gone though and she actually put some faith back into dell for me. I was put on hold like 10 times and while i spent a while on the phone with her, she actually seemed like she was getting to the bottom of it. She told me the manager from the exchange department would personally call me within 48 hours to send me out a laptop. 48 hours later a guy named marco called me to explain the process to me. I was then told i would be receiving the same exact model but he doesnt know when it will be sent out "could be a few days could be a few weeks". When i mentioned 2 reps told me i would be receiving the newer 7820hk model for my trouble i was told "that im past my exchange period and the only reason i am even still getting an exchange is because a manager approved it. That there not even required to give me one anymore. Also that im lucky im even getting a new model since i should be receiving a refurbished unit". I got off the phone with him a hour ago and i just cant get over how rude he was. The more i think about the way he talked to me the more i think how rude he was. Ive talked to about 30 people at dell so far and he without a doubt was one of the rudest people ive spoken too. I honestly feel like he just didnt give a absolute shit about me. He acted like dell is doing me a massive favor by even still send me a replacement even though he has no clue when its being sent out. It honestly felt like someone was forcing him to help me. Ive had nothing but patience with them, stayed calm the whole time on the phone and let them drag me around for almost three months. Just to get off the phone with him and have the impression that "screw everything you have been though, we dont really care if you are happy or not, your lucky im even talking to you." So thats where i am. I just needed to rant. Its not even the promised upgrade that aggrivating me. Its the being tossed around for 3 months, told 20 different things, not getting a single answer to any of my questions, no explanation on why its taken 3 months, no guarentee on when they will ship it, then on top of that being talked to like i should go hang up the phone and write a letter to dell thanking and praising them for even still bothering with me. No sorry for you trouble, no thanks for hanging in there while we sort it out, nothing. For all i know i could be at this for 3 more months. I know this is long but i just needed to rant and tell someone. With hope that maybe someone important will see this. TLDR: Received a dud laptop. Issued a exchange within 30 days. I never got it. Spoke to like 20 different reps so far being tossed around. Was told the model i bought was defective/out of stock. Yet they sold/ship them to people on there website the whole time. Promised a newly released model instead for all my trouble 2 months later. Then changed there mind and told me im lucky there still bothering to help me since im out of the 30 day exchange period. Im out of the 30 day exchange period because ive been waiting on the exchange to come for 3 months. No ETA on when i might even get an exchange. Been told 5 times its coming but never does. Its now day 50 of playing games with alienware. EDIT: Thanks for all the support guys! I sent the VP of alienware a tweet with the post. UPDATE 1: Frank Azor the VP of alienware tweeted me back and is now following me. He tweeted me to DM my service tag to him. Just did, so waiting for him to get back to me now. Will update on when he does. Thank you to everyone for getting there attention! I really appreciate all the support! UPDATE 2: He got my service tag number and is looking into it. That was at 11:45am EST. I will update this thread as soon as i hear anything. UPDATE 3: A few of you are asking if there is any update. Its 2:00 am now and ive heard nothing from frank other tha hes looking in it. I got AW_Khan now looking into it for me tomorrow. But honestly if i dont get any solid answers by tomorrow im done. This whole thing with them is honestly just getting exhausting. I really appreciate all the support i got in this thread and you guys are amazing for helping me get noticed. But im honestly even more dissapointed in alienware now that after all this they couldnt even bother to call me. Just a phone call from someone higher up saying hey were sorry for the hold up, were going to get to the bottom of this, gives us a day to sort it all out would have really just made all the difference right now. I honestly just feel like ive been at this for so long, and finally got to someone who can actually do something that i atleast need to see it though before i demand a refund. There actions are really going to make all the difference on whether or not i ever bother with this company ever again. If alienware can make this shit right with me now, and manage to not fuck up so badly again in the future they might keep me as a customer. But if they dont im getting my money back one way or another and im done with dell for good. submitted by /u/YaCantStopMe to r/pcgaming [link] [comments]
