Hi! So my eyes have this horrible annoying habit of twitching every few weeks. I know this is usually due to stress and/or lack of sleep. Funnily enough, I have severe insomnia (don’t usually get more than 2-4 hours a night) and I have been so incredibly stressed with moving to a new country and navigating my long distance relationship in the past month that I can’t remember bits of it💀 so I know the causes of the eye twitching, but what can I do to get rid of it? Has anyone had this? It’s been 10 months and I rarely drink caffeine/ alcohol and I take magnesium daily. I got an MRI and it was clear. Might get Botox to stop it. Sneezing, rubbing, and closing my eyes tight make it worse but usually it’s just random. Was over at a friends house the other day and she was making a pork tenderloin. I was helping her prep it for the oven and she pulled out a knife. She proceeded to start cutting off the fat. ​ I stopped her and asked why. She said that she doesn't like chewy fat on her meat. I've always wondered why every time my wife and I went there the meat was always dry as the Sahara. Now I knew. ​ I told her to put the fat side up and lower her temp by a bit to get the fat rendered a bit. Hi! I had an eye twitch for 2 1/2 months that wouldn't go away and that was actually getting worst week after week. The twitch had also started spreading to other places on my face, but in less intensity, like on my other eye and my lips. While I had the twitches, I've googled a lot and became anxious of rare diseases like BEB (benign essential blepharospasms), multiple sclerosis or als. There wasn't lot of infos on reddit about eye twitching lasting more than a month, so that's why I wanna make this post. Most of the posts I've read on reddit and most of the infos on google recommended to sleep more, reduce eye strain, drink less caffeine, take potassium, take magnesium, drink less alcohol, smoke less, use hydrating eye's drops and reduce stress. I tried most of those things after the first 3 days of my eye twitching: I started eating bananas and taking potassium and magnesium pills daily, use eye drops twice daily, stop drinking coffee and avoid being on the computer or on my phone. I've give up on those things after around a week, because it wasn't helping and my twitches was getting worst, so I stop the pills-bananas-eyedrops and re-started drinking coffee and using my computer and phone normally again. I don't usually smoke nor drink alcohol except on very, very rare occasions (like, 3-4x/year), and I was already sleeping 7-8hrs/night, so those recommandations didn't apply to me. So long story short, I've been on vacations from work for the last 1 1/2 week, and my twitches went away after the first 2-3 days off work. So even though I wasn't feeling tired nor stressed, I guess I was, and the twitches was probably just my body trying to tell me I was more stressed than I thought. I'm just hoping now the twitches won't come back when I go back to work next week! So that's it, I just wanna described my experience if someone else is going through something similar. If you have eye twitches for months and potassium/eyedrops/magnesium/stop-drinking-coffee isn't working, it doesn't mean you have MS or BEB or something's else. Age: 20, female Weight: 186.8lbs Duration of complaint: 4 months Medical history: kidney stones, recurring UTI's Meds: none In October of 2018, I was experiencing some back ache/fatigue, so I took one tablet of Flexeril (muscle relaxant that my husband was prescribed for muscle spasms). I was noticeably drowsy and "high" from the one tablet, but slept it off. The next day, I noticed my left bottom eye-lid twitching consistently throughout the day. It has not stopped since then, my left bottom eye lid will consistently twitch every couple of minutes, every single day. Can this be from the Flexeril? I know eye twitching can be caused by stress, lack of sleep, or excessive caffeine intake, but none of those are issues for me. What can I do to help this? 23, F, white, 135lbs, 5’5”, vegetarian, no medications except for a multivitamin for slightly low iron, no known medical conditions My left eye’s bottom lid has been twitching every few times I blink for the past ~2 weeks. It’s starting to really get on my nerves. At what point should I worry about this being a symptom of something bigger?
