Carol, forgot to mention.. don’t forget to replenish your electrolytes as you sweat. I pack these zero sugar Propel powder sticks to mix in my water bottle. They sell them at WalMart and Target. Hydrating is key, but as we age we can have electrolyte imbalances, especially in the heat. Hope this helps! https://www.gatorade.com/powders/propel/lemon-single-serve-sticks

Adding -- skip the alcohol for a bit because that in and of itself can be dehydrating. Drink an electrolyte solution such as pedialyte or gatorade -- maybe half-and-half with water if you find it too strong. Watch labels, many are high sugar/carbs but there are zero sugar and low sugar options. You can get powder to mix or ready-to-drink bottles.

Ive picked up cycling about a year ago have started to buy powder gatorade for my rides. On amazon ive found tubs of Lemon Lime, Orange, and Fruit Punch which are 76.5 oz for about $16. I cant find Grape anywhere for a reasonable price. Im not even looking for G2, just regular powder Gatorade! Because I’m not a Monster
We are under an “extreme heat alert” for most of the next week here in San Diego county. My kitchen is about 100 years old and made of Adobe brick (yes I’m being serious). So, since I love my crew and I’m a fairly nice Chef, I bought them Gatorade. I’ve also set up a couple of chairs in the walk in. THIS KITCHEN GETS HELLA HOT 🥵, and I don’t want anyone to fall out from heat stroke. Does Anyone else do this? submitted by /u/Illustrious_Sign_872 to r/KitchenConfidential [link] [comments]

You don't have to be big to look good
Results of 5 months dieting 23M, 5'8", Natural Before is 175lbs ~20% body fat. After is 150lbs ~12%. I am tiny (FFMI is barely above 20), but I still have a decent-looking physique. If you don't like how you currently look, just cut down to 12% body fat (which is what I am around in the after pictures), and you will look great too. This level of leanness is very much maintainable, a healthy spot to grow from, and the casual person thinks you are shredded and single digit bodyfat. Edit 1: To the trolls saying this wasn't done naturally, please turn your brains on. If you do the math, my lean mass went from ~140 lb (FFMI 21.33) to ~132 lb (FFMI 20.11), which means I lost at least 8 lbs of lean mass (obviously not all of it is muscle, but still). How someone can look at these numbers and say it is suspicious is genuinely incredulous to me. Yes, I have some acne on my back. I live in a humid climate, and my parents and siblings also have some similar skin issues, and they've never even stepped foot into a gym. Whoopdee doo. It's still there in the before pictures if you look closely, or if you look at the other pictures I commented in this thread. As much of a compliment as it is to me that people think these results look steroid-like, you have to recognize that there are very impressionable people on this subreddit, and you saying moronic things like this is influencing young people to think that they need to take steroids to look like this, and that to me is sad. From this post alone, I've already had like 3 people message me who are under the age of 25, have less than 3 years of training, are taking gear, and quite frankly have poor physiques because they don't know anything about diet and training. I guarantee it's because of people like you who have convinced them they need to take gear to have an impressive-looking physique. Edit 2: Since a few people have been asking, I am updating with the diet I've been following for the last 2 months (a bit higher than the earlier months, as I have much less body fat than before). I do a bit of a carb cycling approach with a low, moderate, and high carb day. This is with the aim of maximizing insulin sensitivity for improved carb utilization on training days and also allowing me to eat more on training days as well. When you average the 3 days out, the daily average calories are ~2200, which is still a 500-calorie deficit below my maintenance of ~2700, so each week I am still losing ~1 lb. I love every meal of the day because they taste so good, and I often find that I have a hard time finishing all the food on my plan because of how filling it is, and it's all because of the mindful curation and portioning of different food types + nutrient timing. If left to my own devices, I can easily put away 4-5k+ calories of junk food every day, so it's not like I don't have a big appetite, but this is the power of a well-planned diet. What can and cannot be called a glass of water? [OC]
Hello! After 531 responses to my survey, here are the results! Some are exactly what I expected and some are quite surprising. I will share my thoughts in a moment, but for anyone who doesn't know, here was the scenario: You are at your friends house watching TV. As you are about to start a new episode your friend says "Hold on, let me grab a glass of water real quick." Your friend briefly exits the room and returns with what they consider to be "a glass of water." Participants were given a description of the contents of the glass and then asked Are you okay with this being called "a glass of water"? To fit on the chart, some of my water descriptions had to be simplified, If you'd like to see the original format the survey is still open. Thoughts I'm surprised so many people (51) were anti distilled water. I feel like it's definitely water right? It's not typically meant for drinking though, and can potentially cause mineral deficiencies if it's the only water you drink. This is 100% a language question, so I expected things described as "water with..." to be considered water more than things with their own more specific name (water with salt>water with Liquid IV>Gatorade) Of the Not Waters I expected plant based milks and sprite zero to do slightly better (like one or two votes better) But I do think all of the yes responses for the pop/milk/juice category were likely jokes I'm tired and want to get this posted now. Please let me know if you have any questions! I know this is a very flawed and biased survey, but the idea was more to create discussions than anything. How many ingredients do you need to remove from a can of pop before you can start calling it water? submitted by /u/spicybigdadd to r/dataisbeautiful [link] [comments]

Recommend me a cheap gatorade-like powder?
I'm looking for a (fake) fruity electrolyte/sugar drink mix iwith a long shelf life, similar to Gatorade powder. But I'd like one that's cheaper. Any ideas for me? I don't want any that come in tiny containers, just a big old canister or bag is what I have in mind. I guess I'm kind of trying to maximize calories per dollar and potassium per dollar, or a balance of the two, in a product that isn't super-sketchy and can store for a long time. Also nothing with Himalayan salt please. :D submitted by /u/TyrannicalDuncery to r/Frugal [link] [comments]

I usually send my kid to summer camp (very hot and active) with a supply of single serve Gatorade mix packets. Would these serve the same purpose? Why are so many of them sugar free? TIFU by taking pre-workout before a run and almost dying.
My Run: If you don't know, pre-workout is a highly caffeinated powder that looks like this. People often take it before workouts (like I always have) to give them the motivation they need. Anwyways, I took 1.5 scoops as I normally do and went outside for a run on a particularly hot day. At the end of the run, I felt weak and my chest was clenching with pain. Upon arriving at the gas station to get a Gatorade, I realized something wasn't right. I stumbled inside and grabbed the shirt of an attendant to say "Please stay with me. I don't think I'm okay". My body was shaking, my vision narrowed, and the pain grew nearer. They gave me some water and talked with me to calm me down. Eventually, I felt well enough to go to my parent's house while my girlfriend was away just to be around someone. Going to the Hosptial: After half an hour at my parent's, nothing was better and I realized I may actually be dying. My heart rate had NOT slowed down, my breath was shortening, and my chest felt like it was collapsing. I calmly looked at my mother and suggested "Alright, I believe now is the time we go to the Emergency Room" We pull up to the ER and I stumbled inside the same way you would if you were drunk. I politely tell the receptionist "I need to be seen in some short while, as I am having what must be a heart attack". She hands me a form to fill out, which I make it about a third of the way through. My mind isn't cooperating and I have no strength to write anything down. The portion where it asks for my name was chicken scratch, and I could not for the life of me remember my birthday. She motioned someone to come collect me from the back urgently but I was too embarrassed to go with them without having properly filled out a simple form. "No, no! Let me fill out another one." They waited kindly with worried looks until I dropped the pen and said "well we will just have to do this later". In The ER When I get back to the ER I am writhing in pain. Nothing is lowering my heart rate. Some punk comes in asking if I would like to pay all-at-once for a discounted price or on a monthly basis. I ask him if we can "please consider these things later. About two hours pass and a few injections of something or another later, they tell me I’m fine but I have a fairly rare heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, which had been excited by the stimulants and could have ended very poorly. I had taken pre-workout my entire life and had never known how close I always was to death. The doctor explained, until my surgery, every time I take stimulants like that I am flipping a coin on my life. So, while I am an unusual case, I encourage everyone to reconsider taking such supplements and to not be so concerned with properly filling out the welcome form when going to the ER. TL;DR: took pre-workout, went on a run, went to the ER, found out I have WPW and may have died of sudden cardiac arrest if I wasn't treated submitted by /u/DankeyKang11 to r/tifu [link] [comments]

If you exercise regularly and drink Gatorade, skip the bottles and buy the powder.
I exercise and train regularly in a variety of ways: cycling (on and off-road), hitting the gym, walk lots, hiking, trail running, etc. Through this, I consume a lot of water, and when the exercise is intense, Gatorade. I've learned that a frugal decision is to skip buying the bottles, and buy the powder to mix it yourself. I buy the 50.9 oz. cans for $8.99 from Wegmans. For the math, we'll forget tax, because it varies by jurisdiction. If you follow the directions on the label, you'll be able to make ~62 12 oz. servings: a total of 744 oz., or 5.8125 gallons. It works out to 14.5 cents per serving. Compare that to an 18 pack of 12 oz. bottles @ $8.99: 49.9 cents/12 oz, or nearly 3.5x the price. I didn't compare the individual bottles, and I'm going by the prices at a store with low prices; individual bottles, or 4 packs, 8 packs, etc. are always way more expensive than buying a case, so the powder becomes an even better deal. I fill 24 oz. Nalgene bottles with the mix, and I always cut it to at least 1/2 strength, sometimes as low as 1/3 to 1/4 strength. A 23g serving of powder is 21g of sugar - I need the electrolytes, but I don't need all of that added sugar. My kids and I have become so used to the diluted version that regular Gatorade is too strong. You can fill a LOT of bottles from one of those cans. submitted by /u/CustomRodTele to r/Frugal [link] [comments]
