I haven't seen anything about this in this subreddit yet. I redeemed two Apple gift cards today (1x 100€ / 1x 25€) and received rewards for them. After redeeming them, a window from Apple pops up for SWGOH where you have to confirm the gift. Unfortunately, it didn’t specify which amounts correspond to which rewards. The first two screenshots are from the 100€ gift card, and the last two are from the 25€ gift card. Received a new sealed gift card as a gift. Went to the Big Box store to redeem and opened it at the self checkout, the pin was still covered with the foil, scratched it and saw the Pin had been partially scraped off. At first I thought maybe it was a poorly printed but no. Apparently some lowlifes steal gift cards, scratch them off and write down pin and number. Then obscure the pin and purchase fake foil to cover that area and make it look new. Then they place them back at the store and wait for someone to purchase. The store said there was nothing they could do.. The problem is that the store sold that gift card. So it is there responsibility to make sure they arent tampered with or fraud committed. They arent stealing from the store, they are stealing from their customers which is way worse, especially if the store doesnt make it right. Any legal recourse here? Do I tell the person that purchased it to dispute it with their credit card company? It doesn't seem like the store cares or wants to make it right, so that's the only thing I can think of. Unless there is a special fraud team at corporate that will deal with it and send me a replacement gift card. So general advice is even if the foil is there, the thieves are so good they can make it look genuine. it wasn't one of those peel and stick foil either, it was legit, even the employee was convinced it was a legit gift card. My MIL gave us and our kids gift cards for the Dec holidays - mainly restaurants for smaller $ amounts between $25 and $50. The other day she texts my husband and I saying "shall we go out today and use one of the gift cards?" Confused, I said "what gift cards do you have?" She replied the ones she gave us, and she didnt have them with her since I took them all with me. I replied that I didnt know I wasn't supposed to take them with me...as they're a gift. She still insists that whenever we use them, we take her with us. I think it's ridiculous and my husband has stayed quiet. I've been LC with her for about a year, so with the amounts barely covering one person if we went out, it's likely a way to force her way into still seeing us. Partner and I each got 100$ in Mastercard gift cards from my dad. We were really excited since we just got our first place together. Both cards got declined and the only solution from Mastercard is sending us new gift cards. Edit 1: Yes, they were activated. Mastercard showed them both as "compromised" despite us attempting to use them in-store. There was no way to change that status according to MC. Edit 2: The more infuriating part is that the money was still on there. Had not been drained but their system had still flagged it when we tried to use it. As for why my dad sent gift cards versus cash: my partner and I moved across the country in the US. I understand why he chose this option. My question is...can I buy one gift card for the amount of the choice preferred fare and reuse it for each flight....for example, book a 1 way flight using flight credit and gift card.
