After using the iPhone 17 Pro Max for 3 months, I've finally decided to sell it. It's honestly a big disappointment compared to several Android flagships.
The cameras are quite average. The Oppos and Vivos and Xiaomis of the world are way ahead in this category. It's too bulky and heavy, and the new aluminium chassis is way too fragile. Paint chips off randomly even with a case on. It feels heavier and thicker than some foldables lol. iOS 26 is a massive bug-fest. Lots of glitches, random crashes, apps stutter, keyboard freezes, and unimpressive aesthetics. It's 2026 and you still can't upload a bloody file to Google Drive or send an image on WhatsApp in the background while doing something else on the phone. Are you fucking serious? This thing costs ₹1,50,000 and it's meant to have the best smartphone chip. For what? Watching tiktok? Ridiculous. It's just very... boring. Nothing about the phone stands out. Vivo has cameras that make you want to click. Samsung has great software. Foldables have an extra screen. What does the iPhone have? Nothing. The ecosystem isn't that lucrative anymore. AirPods work well with Android, there are tons of AirDrop replacements, Galaxy Watch is as good as Apple Watch in terms of features. Forget the camera quality; even the minimum focusing distance of the telephoto is just trash. It's infuriating. The anti-reflective coating on the display is nowhere close to Samsung's. Most people may not care about these issues. But even if you're a bit savvy or you've used an Android phone in the past, the iPhone, even in 2026, feels like a downgrade. The only 2 things I genuinely appreciate are video recording quality and battery life. Exemplary. But everything else is just average. submitted by /u/Romeo01220 to r/PhoneNow [link] [comments]

iPhone 17 Pro Max owners: what do you wish you knew before buying it?
My iPhone 17 Pro Max in Cosmic Orange got here last week and sadly I haven’t even had a chance to open it yet. Before I finally crack it open, I wanted to hear from the folks who’ve had more time with it: • What’s something you wish you knew before you bought yours? • What’s become your favorite thing so far? • What would you tell someone who’s still on the fence? Or settings to change, features Apple didn’t highlight, surprises (good or bad); anything you’ve learned from actual everyday use. I’m filming my unboxing and early impressions this week, and I’d love to include a few real world tips from people who’ve been using it longer than me. Appreciate any advice you’re willing to share! submitted by /u/Mullins2 to r/iPhone17Pro [link] [comments]

iPhone 17 After 1 Month: The Good, The Bad, The Annoying !
After one full month with the iPhone 17, here’s my honest review. No fanboying, no hate, just the stuff people conveniently “forget” to mention when they say “bEsT pHoNe eVeR ✨”. I came from Android fully open-minded. Spoiler: it didn’t go as expected. Pros (yes, Apple actually did some things right) Photo processing / color science = chef’s kiss. Honestly Apple, keep that guy on payroll forever. Whether it's skin tones, the subtle color variations in flowers or food, nothing is oversaturated, everything is perfect. The screen quality is excellent, sharp, perfect colorimetry, not too saturated, zero complaints. Timeless design that screams “premium” without trying too hard. Build quality: solid enough to survive my daily clumsiness. Compact format with a weight that won’t dislocate your wrist. Speakers: not amazing, but they don’t sound like a 2014 Bluetooth shower speaker either. App opening speed is insane. Blink and it’s done. The haptics… oh god. If everything else was as good as the vibrations, this would be phone of the decade. Alarm sounds + synced vibration = I’ve never been woken up so politely in my life. Cons (aka: things Apple pretends don’t exist) iOS isn’t trash… but let’s say it’s not exactly the “smooth perfection” I was sold. Want the weather widget on the lockscreen? Cool. Just give Apple your GPS 24/7. Permission pop-ups everywhere. iOS feels like a paranoid roommate. If you don’t tweak 40 settings on day one, the experience is borderline chaotic, especially for the camera, like I had to watch a 15-minute tutorial to adjust things that are basic on Android No real telephoto. In 2025. Amazing. Speakers weaker than the iPhone 16e. Did they downgrade them on purpose or wtf? Animations are slow. Like “did my phone take a nap?” slow. 120Hz “ProMotion” feels more like “ProJittery”, not as smooth as a 120Hz display on a Xiaomi Mi 15 for example Scrolling: too much smoothing + random jitter = a daily exercise in patience mostly in Twitter and Youtube Keyboard experience is… yeah, let’s just say I’ve typed better on microwaves, no seriously, we all know how awful it is. Photos app + Google Photos + Google services = An ecosystem that's not very compatible + iCloud is super annoying because it fills up in 2 seconds, and Apple is asking you to pay €1 per month when you could simply disable it and use your local storage (what a terrible strategy). So you have to disable it.. Apple ecosystem: expensive, awkward, and somehow still missing obvious features. Pop-ups in Settings promoting “free trials” that are absolutely not free. Classic. No settings icon in Control Center because… why make life easier? Settings app = labyrinth designed by a chaotic neutral developer. Volume down button already losing clickiness after a month. Hilarious. No double tap to lock/unlock. It's a basic feature, this has existed on Samsung for years and on Xiaomi recently, seriously Apple? Twitter/X scrolling: sometimes the phone thinks I’m trying to slide open a secret door, It's like it brings up the left sidebar menu even though I'm scrolling vertically, wtf Silent mode = no tiny notification icons at the top, just pop-ups for real time notifcation and needing to go into notification center for "old" notifications. Perfect. Can’t merge Control Center and Notification Center… because Apple said no. Screen wakes up every time you get a notification. Even if you didn’t ask. AOD has two modes: ON or NEVER. No “few seconds” like on Android. Notification Center doesn’t appear on the lockscreen unless you swipe, love the extra step. Unlocking on a desk? Nope, grab that phone like it’s Excalibur so that he can see you face to face Face ID is good but sometimes just… gives up on me. Every action on iOS has an unnecessary animation or extra step. Gboard/SwiftKey are voluntarily nerfed. Because why allow choice? Closing apps one by one in 2025 Zero updates in one month, zero communication about some bugs and that jittery scrolling. Very premium. Camera button: not as bad as Reddit cries claim, but the press is so stiff you physically "shake" the phone taking the picture. Calling someone: the call button stays greyed for a second when you click on a contact… why? Who knows. During calls, screen takes its time to turn off against the ear. No scrolling screenshot on all app No chat shortcuts for LINE, like..WHY. Conclusion The iPhone 17 genuinely has strengths: amazing photos and I must emphasize the colorimetry; pictures also has less tilt shift than competitor and are ultra-sharp, which is pleasing!, great screen, top-tier haptics, beautiful design. But honestly? For something marketed as the ultimate experience, the daily annoyances pile up fast. Too many tiny frustrations, too many odd decisions, too many limitations that shouldn’t exist in 2025. I came with an open mind. I wanted to love it, I dropped it zero times, it was well protected, I loved it. But yeah… I’m disappointed, I'm going to return it and get something else. submitted by /u/WhisperingDoll to r/Smartphones [link] [comments]

Been using iPhone 17 for a month
I've had the iPhone 17 for a bit over a month. I went from a 16 pro to this. Occasionally I miss the telephoto but other than that it's perfect. Battery is great, lasts me all day. I always set a charge limit of 90% then when I get to work I charge it to 100% then I don't need to worry about it for the rest of the day. Easily 8 hours SOT. Love the Sage colour. Went with the Liquid air case from Sipgen. Great look, feel and grip. Brilliant case. Oh and going from a pro to bad model I didn't realise how significant the weight difference was but maaaan after like a day I was like " it sooo light, I can hold the thing for ages without me hands aching 😄" Anyway yeah, loveeee it submitted by /u/SirCrumpets69 to r/iphone17 [link] [comments]

Watched the Apple event and thought, “yeah, hard pass.” The camera plateau and glass back weren’t it for me. Fast forward a week and here I am with the 17 Pro + Apple Clear Case, drinking the kool aid. It’s not perfect but it feels refined both in the hand and in daily use. The panel on the clear case is clever, letting the glass back shine while hiding MagSafe. I still wish it covered the bottom, but I can live with it. iOS 26.1 seals the deal with smoother performance and better battery life. Headed to Disneyland for my son’s birthday next week, and I’ll share some real world shots after the trip. submitted by /u/Professional_Use_924 to r/iPhone17Pro [link] [comments]

Update on Orange IPhone 17 Pro Max that Turned Rose Gold
I originally posted that my Orange IPhone 17 Pro Max turned Rose gold and I saw comments that said it was fake, I used photoshop, etc. So to update, the phone has turned a more solid Rose Gold color, and I could not imagine a sadder existence than photoshopping IPhone pics. Thought about maybe going to the Apple Store and seeing if I can get an exchange since I wanted Orange, not a pink IPhone. submitted by /u/DakAttack316 to r/iphone [link] [comments]

iPhone 17 Pro, a week later
It’s now been 1 week since i switched from my iPhone SE3 to the iPhone 17 Pro,and it might be one of the best upgrades i’ve ever made The battery life is a good improvement, I can get from 7AM to 5PM on a single charge,i don’t really mind the Aluminum body and the triple cameras at the back are good, frankly the only thing i hate about it for now is the Action button, I always press it instead of the volume up button,i’m sure i’ll get used to it eventually. It’s also my first Pro iPhone 3rd image is my phone history over the years submitted by /u/TrickDistribution964 to r/iPhone17Pro [link] [comments]

iPhone 17 Pro Max | iOS26 Is Actually Crazy Battery Nightmare | Power Consumption Deep Dive
iPhone 17 Pro Max | iOS26 Is Actually Crazy Battery Nightmare | Power Consumption Deep Dive byu/MarionberryDear6170 iniPhone17Pro 20250927 Edit: I’m really appreciate that you have sp much attention on this Deep Dive Review. But most importantly, you have to let Apple seeing this. Please send whatever bothered you to Apple🙏 Go to your web browser and type this> applefeedback:// This will lead you to Apple Feedback app. You’re welcome. ————- Original Post: Why I’m posting THIS This is a deep dive analysis about how iOS 26 Liquid Glass animation is total battery killer, even on iPhone 17 Pro Max. Here’s a video I recorded exposing how Liquid Glass in iOS 26 eats up your phone’s battery. iPhone 17 Pro Max | iOS26 Is Crazy Battery Nightmare | Power Consumption Deep Dive TL;DR On my both 15 Pro Max and 17 Pro Max (iOS 26 official release), UI interactions (Control/Notification Center pull-downs, starting screen recording, Safari startup/page loads, etc.) repeatedly spike to ~10–14W, causing drain and heat. Put it simply: constantly swiping the Control Center can drain as much power as playing a full 3D game on your phone.(You're welcome to try it yourself if you want, to see if your phone would heat up fast.) Low Power Mode (LPM) consistently caps those spikes near ~5W, improving practical battery life (and I'll share the real world results with you). Without LPM, from 100% → ~19–20%, I got only ~5h46m–6h30m SOT on 17PM. But with LPM on, I got 6h SOT with still 60% battery remaining, and 10h SOT from 100% → ~19–20% on 17PM. My take: parts of iOS 26’s UI (“Liquid Glass”) are power-hungry; 17PM thermals just hide it better vs 15PM. For example, scrolling down Control Center would get 8w~9w. With "Reduce Transparency" On, it spikes up to 14W. Doing Screen Recording itself with HDR format is getting 5w~6w now. (That means idling, If you started scrolling through Homepage it would go up to 9w~11w.) Using Apple Maps and starting the navigation would get peak 8w~9w in 1~2 sec. Recording Videos in 4K30 HDR would get around continuously 6W. Taking Screenshot(HDR) would get peak 7w~ crazy 17w _ / Edit: I really appreciate that my Deep Dive Review got so much attention, but just to be clear, we still need to make sure Apple hears this so they can fix the real problems. If you’re on the beta OS, please don’t forget to send them Feedback. submitted by /u/MarionberryDear6170 to r/apple [link] [comments]

Most people misunderstand the purpose of IPhone 17 Pro
I see so many people who are upset with the new Pro design and colors, but hear me out! We’re used to seeing people getting “the best iPhone” every year (which is the Pro models), so everyone knows they spent money without using most of the features. That is why the new Pro is industrial and objectively doesn’t look as aesthetically pleasing. I love the orange, but I can see how the new design and feel doesn’t appeal to those who like sleek minimalism. The new Pro is clearly about functionality and is marketed to people who will use it with that in mind: creatives, content creators, travel bloggers, tech enthusiasts etc. An average corporate Joe doesn’t need 8 camera lenses and the capabilities of Pro. And given the state of the economy, I think they know that most people will be upgrading less in the future. Apple wants people to stick with the base model or push the average consumer towards the Air, which is cheaper to make and will still satisfy the needs of most. Those models still have the desired minimalist design. Most people don’t need the Pro, so I don’t understand the outrage. Just think about how often you do more with that camera than taking a photo of your pet or a selfie? Instead of overpaying for Pro because “it’s Pro”, people should just get the base model. It’s a win-win situation. submitted by /u/lilacledum to r/iphone [link] [comments]

I think the basic iPhone 17 is a lot more attractive than ever
With the screen increases to 6.3 inch and 120Hz refresh rate, the basic iPhone 17 is a lot more attractive now. The iPhone 17 Pro is just too ugly and not offering too much more at higher price. I will choose iPhone 17 over the Pro model. submitted by /u/albertserene to r/iphone [link] [comments]
