Apparently they're adding Pomni and Jax from The Amazing Digital Circus to Fortnite. I never would have expected that, but I think it's pretty awesome. TADC is definitely one of my main interests. Its a little tempting, but probably not a good idea to pay however much for them in a game I don't really play, lol.

Because it debunks the notion that Jax was irredeemable, even if Gooseworx called him such, even if his haters say he is. Jax is a copy of Leroy as their lowest point but ultimately, still Leroy. The fact the latter was able to turn their life around shows Jax wasn't inherently beyond saving, he simply needed to believe in himself more. Sure Leroy had the advantage of having access to actual professional help rather than being trapped in basically a digital Hell. This is only important because the majority of the cast is not male. Zooble and Gangle's various exchanges, especially the convo about accepting yourself, brings the series the closest to passing. When Pomni and Ragatha, the two arguably most important female characters, end up speaking, it's usually in reference to a man. Ragatha telling Pomni during the gun thing she doesn't want Kinger to end up with Jax. Pomni talking to Ragatha about taking Gummigoo with them. Pomni mentioning that Kinger has a different side to him. The only time I can recall Ragatha and Pomni talking about something other than a man, is in episode 1 where Ragatha is explaining the existential misery of the circus while walking to Kaufmo's room. The infamous hugging scene is unearned due to the lack of other convos, so it doesn't really help. Despite there being THREE other non-males in the cast, Pomni doesn't have any real one-on-ones with any of them until talking to ONE of them in the end. The only other time two women speak are the couple times Ragatha talks to a female NPC, the candy queen and Ms. Mildenhall, and the latter again involved talking about a man. Every other time it's usually a cross-gender conversation. [minor spoilers for ep9] This scene is the only scene throughout the show that features two (born) male characters talking to each other about something unrelated to any non-male characters. SinceJax is heavily implied in the show and confirmed by Gooseworx to be trans-fem, the show failed the test. The remaining male characters with lines are Kinger and Kaufmo, and perhaps Scratch. None of them talked to each other. The rest of the crew are either female, non-binary, or binary. So, just watched it, I know others talked about it weeks ago, but I hadn't seen it yet, so let me just say... it does not stick the landing. For the one hour finale, we find out that they're all just brain scans (which I'd already assumed) and then Jax basically immediately abstracts. Pomni gives him a biiiig hug and we then spend 30 minutes getting his backstory. And then he's still abstracted and they put him in a tent. Half an hour on backstory, and it doesn't progress the narrative in any way. It recontextualizes Jax, sure, but he's abstracted and stays there. And if Pomni learns a valuable lesson from it, I sure didn't notice. And then, Caine's not dead. He's floating in cyberspace. And he realizes that he was at fault for things and he needs to be better, which is great, but then he spends a bunch of time playing with shapes, and goes crazy and pulls the blue orb out of himself and is fine, which... Look, I watched through the show twice already, and I like to think I'm a pretty smart dude, but I had NO IDEA what was going on in that whole sequence. Not nearly enough 'talking it out and figuring out feelings,' too much 'making colorful shapes to solve problems that weren't thoroughly explained.' And then he apologizes to the remaining people, which is nice. Instead of pulling Pomni out, they should have all to all gone in and actually save Jax. You could have the Caine stuff happening simultaneously for pacing reasons, and just ignore the blue orb shit and even the slideshow stuff and just have Caine come to realize everything he did was bad, acknowledge it and ask the humans for help being better. And then give the implication that they could, slowly and over time, work to de-abstract the previously extracted, starting with Jax making an effort to work on Ribbit (who was featured prominently in his backstory and who he absolutely caused to abstract.) The point is, basically nothing happened in an hour-long episode and Caine's the only one who grew as a character. Also, there was barely any action, and this is genuinely a show that's normally action-packed. The Looney Tunes bit was great, though. EDIT: I've gotten the same response a few times so I want to clarify: I do not think the story needed to save Jax because Jax deserved to be saved and I wanted a happy ending. I think the story needed to save Jax because we spent half an hour on Pomni reaching out to Jax and learning his backstory, and then that storyline ended with a whimper. If Jax had started abstracting, we had all that, and then he abstracted spectacularly and it was a problem, I would not be having this complaint. Now that the finale has officially released in theaters, it can finally be talked about, weeks after the leaks released. And I have to say as someone who's been a fan for 2 years and this was my favorite Indie show... this ending was a miss. 10 minutes into the finale, Jax abstracts OFFSCREEN after its confirmed to the cast that the SOMA theory is real. The one Gooseworx decided halfway through was the 2nd main character of the show and began overshadowing everyone else, and she even describes the show focusing on "someone too stubborn to give up on someone too stubborn to be saved". He's offscreened very early in and then we spend the majority of the finale focusing on Pomni going through his mind (somehow she knew she could do this), only learning Jax's backstory AFTER he's already gone. And its all for nothing because even at the end when he hugs Pomni back and admits he doesn't want to go, he abstracts anyways. But that's not even the best part! Because at the end, Caine is revealed to have survived his deletion! The main villain/antagonist gets a last second, rushed redemption arc because the series reveals the blue AI that HE consume/devoured out of jealousy, its actually the true villain that's been negatively influencing him the entire series. After he removes it, he returns to the circus and decides to give the circus members their own powers to have control as well, having to suffer absolutely ZERO consequences for his actions in the previous episode, with the worst he gets being Zooble saying he'll have to work to earn their trust. And he just replaces Jax in the group and everything gets better. This is not well-written in the slightest. I understand exactly what Gooseworx wanted to tell; "You can only save those who want to be saved, Jax wouldn't let himself be saved while Caine choose to change so the latter got redeemed". But while the concept of this works, th execution is HORRENDOUS. The previous episodes literally showed Jax actually helping the other circus members for once and even appreciating that Zooble still considered him one of them. Meanwhile, Caine finally became a true villain and brutally tortured the cast for an entire week. While Jax was introduced as a jerkass who mellowed out a bit, Caine was introduced as a helpful character who became the big bad. Gooseworx very easily could've had Caine stay dead as the perfect tragedy to his character, while Jax learns to be saved. Instead, we have the 2nd main character that's explicitly called suicidal kill himself right into the finale and get turned into the circus dog/pet while Caine just comes in and takes his spot. Its not helped by the fact Gooseworx outright called Jax "irredeemable" and the finale shows why. Supposedly its because he'd never change why he abstracted and Caine got to improve, but Jax literally WAS changing beforehand. He abstracted because after learning of the SOMA, he gave up. In the end, he did change his mind but he simply didn't have the power to undo his abstraction and goes out having a horrifying panic attack, while Caine just has to basically flip a switch and he's become better, with everyone having happier times in the credits. It basically gives the message to those who relate to Jax "once you're out of the picture, everything will get better for everyone else". The series becomes The Jax Show for nothing. If Jax was meant to abstract as a cautionary tale, he should've done so in episode 7 after rejecting Pomni the same way he did to Ribbit, showing how he refuses to grow and remains stagnant. That way other's can have development and focus once he's gone. But instead, he takes up most of the screentime for nothing, having an ending that satisfies neither fans OR haters. The suicidal character many relate to and want to see grow ends his life and the abusive jerk doesn't get called out and confronted for his actions, taking up most of the screemtime just to die at the end. The Amazing Digital Circus is an indie cartoon from Glitch on YouTube and Netflix that has been mired with endless controversy. "But Tesseracts!! People say all fandoms are bad!! They can't actually be that bad!!" Well you're wrong buddy because this is the worst fandom experience since DashCon. It's not just the stuff they complain about, but the fierce intensity and endless persistence of their complaints. List of controversies that occurred off the top of my head: A few weeks ago some fans criticized the series for focusing too heavily on Jax. The creator Gooseworx got overwhelmed and deleted her Reddit account. This prompted an enormous freakout about her being "bullied off of Reddit" including several posts in this sub decrying harassment. However, no evidence of harassment has ever surfaced, except for a couple of mean Tweets. She even came out and publicly said nobody bullied her on Reddit. Some internet sleuths found videos the voice actors did years ago where one of them said a word that sounds kind of like a bad word, but if you listen to it in context, it absolutely was not a bad word and wasn't used in an offensive manner. That word was "nega." You might think "well, people on the internet get mad at stupid shit all the time" but the obsessive vitriol surrounding this "controversy" was something else. Some people were absolutely determined to take these people down for something that happened years ago. There was even an incident where someone at a convention started shouting racial slurs in real life to "defend the cartoon," but I didn't really look into what exactly happened there. EDIT: So I looked up a longer clip than I had previously seen of what the voice actors said and it's worse than I realized. I posted it in the comments. The final episode got a worldwide theatrical release. This means more press and more money for creators who are relatively small compared to competitors like Disney. So, it's a good thing. However fans absolutely freaked out and got mad because they cannot imagine waiting two weeks between the theatrical release and the YouTube release. 2 weeks is an amazingly small amount of time to wait compared to how long people had to wait in the past, and I don't mean like the 90s, I mean like before this happened it would be very hard to get a distributor to agree to 2 weeks. It's a good deal The final episode got leaked online, and fans started getting mad at the creator, thinking it's her fault for having the audacity to do a theatrical release at all. She responded "who cares." I don't think there is anything wrong with the response, other than the fact that she shouldn't have responded at all. Then again, maybe if we lived in a better world people would be allowed to be chronically online without being bullied constantly. I know people will say "there's always been bullying online" but since Covid it's gotten a lot worse. Gooseworx followed this up with a rather sad Tweet saying she just wanted to create a cartoon, and she can't care any more because it has gotten bigger than herself. Anyone who has experience creating for clients, or even just with clients in general and not necessarily in a creative field, knows the most entitled clients are the ones who expect things for free. You would think they would be grateful for getting something for cheap or free, but it only makes them more demanding. They think they're entitled to see it for free on YouTube, instantly, and that any attempt to make a profit means they are a greedy evil corporation no different than Disney. There was evil a post here, with a lot of upvotes, by someone who said Glitch is not an indie company and there is no such thing as indie animation because more than 1 person is involved with most animation. Content creators don't owe you anything. You have the right to criticize and complain, but you're not entitled to have the story go your way. You're not owed time and attention, and the story belongs to the creator not to the fans. So I just finished watching the last episode of The Amazing Digital Circus in Brazillian portuguese. Before the movie begins the ugly fish from the beach episode tells us to not spoil anything and wait until the end because there is a QR code for merch. The episode starts with the group discussing Caine being deleted, Kinger says Caine was messing with the controls and that's probably what caused his deletion. Kinger seems to remember now about the brain scans, Jax snaps at everyone since they will never leave the circus. Edit: since there are a lot of people asking the same question, they are just brain scans and not the real people. Kinger starts trying to restore the Circus, he and Ponmi try to fix a hole on the floor and are joined later by Ragatha, Gangle and Zooble. While the group works Jax tries to approach Ponmi but he gives up talking to her. We then cut to an abstracted Jax running around the Circus. The girls and Zooble discuss what they could have done to help Jax. Gangle laments she can't even cry for him. Ponmi then gets a gun and lures the abstracted Jax into one of the corridors with their private rooms, she shoots all the lights and throws herself at Jax. She enters some kinda of pocket dimension inside Jax where different doors show how Jax thought he was perceived by each Circus member. The scenario where Ragatha abstracts is the darkest one since it's just Jax trying to strangle Ponmi. We are shown the Zooble one where Gangle abstracts and Zooble blames Jax, they have a looney tunes like chase that ends with Zooble falling from a cliff. In the Gangle one Zooble abstracts and Gangle is wearing her fast food happy mask and bossing everyone in how to prepare Zooble's funeral, Jax is wearing his maid outfit and offers the key to his room to Gangle so they can "meet" later. We then cut to a break room where we see the two Jax from the previous scenarios and a piano player Jax. After they leave the piano player Jax offers Ponmi the key to get to the real Jax. Ponmi sees a recap from Jax life in the circus, he was very good friends with Ribbit and Kaufmo and was even friendly with Ragatha. One day while Jax and Ribbit discuss their lifes outside the circus Jax admits his parents divorced while he was in high school and the dad left never to be seen again. He constantly fought with his mother, who called him a "less man" when he didn't fight back and "bad just like his father" when he retaliated. One day they had a pretty bad fight and Jax pushed his mom, he isn't sure if she died in the fall or not since he took off and became homeless. Ribbit says if the police never went for him his mother is probably okay, she says his secret is safe with her and wraps her ribbon around his ear. Kaufmo suddenly knocks at the door and Jax get weird, throwing the ribbon on the floor. His relationship with Ribbit gets worse, with him antagonizing her and saying that the story about his mother was a lie and she was dumb for falling for it, isolating her from the rest of the group until their adventure in some snowy cliff where Jax say some pretty mean stuff to her which causes her to abstract. Jax assumes that mean persona after that and berates Kaufmo for thinking there is a way to escape, which leads to the pilot episode abstraction. We also see Jax just being a cunt to everyone in the circus and his POV of his fight with Ponmi in the gun episode. Ponmi then wakes up to see the real inner Jax, she embraces him and says that she should have been there for him. Jax says she is only making things worse but Ponmi encourages him to vent. He admits hating her and that she wasn't supposed to like or care about him, but he is really sad about losing his sanity and that he doesn't want to go away. Ponmi is then rescued by her friends, who say they would never let her solve everything alone. They make a shack and lure the abstracted Jax into staying there. That's when Gangle finally cries for him. We then cut to Caine in the void, he has conflicting feelings about being deleted, but ends up admitting he was wrong. He gets rid of the blue AI he absorbed before and ends up getting acess to the brain scans, finding out the real name of each character and their social media. While at the beach he has some dialogue with the flirty moon and she says she loves him(even though he never taught her to do that), then he goes back to the circus, ask for forgiveness and show them the lifes their original selves live: Abigail, Suzie(Ragatha), Zoe/Zoey(Gangle), Riley(Zooble), Grant(Kinger) and Leroy(Jax). Ponmi still does urban exploration and even brings friends with her now. Ragatha left her town and cut contact with her mother, she is very happy. Zooble opened a bar. Gangle got hit by a truck, but after recovering she became a designer and posts her webcomic online. Jax got back at his feet, becoming a delivery driver. Caine tells them Jax is a costumer at Zooble's bar. Kinger has two girls with his wife, he still works in IT. Caine starts calling them their real names, but Abigail says there in the circus she is just Ponmi. We then have some scenes of Caine letting all the adventure portals free to come and go, Ragatha plays softball with Ponmi and Caine, Zooble opens a bar in the circus and makes drinks (even for Caine), they all have good moments together and some of the abstractions now live in the Aquarium in the losers' lounge from the gun episode. The penultimate scene is the real people from the circus waiting at a bus stop together, totally strangers. The last scene is just Ponmi walking alone in the circus and waving at the viewers. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. There was no reference to Bubble, she is there in the void but doesn't talk and has no face lol. We don't see her anymore in the circus which is weird because she was there after Caine "death". My main issue is there is nothing about how the main cast besides Kingler had their brains scanned. Zooble and Ponmi were urban explorers and Jax was homeless but Agatha was with people when she put the headset and Gangle was in the hospital after her accident. During episode 5, we see for a spilt second that after Ragatha's ramble that Jax looks sad. This could be interpreted as that Jax had similar experiences with his mom. Then later in episode 5, Jax gets put in the maid dress and gets so heated to the point that Zooble takes note of it. Then in episode 7, we see that Jax's room is all pink girly like. We all know that the circus members bedroom are meant to torture them by showcasing their insecurities. (Ex: Zooble's room being covered in mirrors when they hate the way their body looks and feels and overall has a negative body image of themselves) Also, Jax doesn't open the door fully when talking to Pomni. He probably does this because he doesn't want anyone to see his room looking all girly and questioning him about it. Later in episode 7, we see Jax fleeing from an suburban neighborhood. This could be interpreted as Jax fleeing from his parents house after having enough of their treatment of him. I could have sworn Gooseworx had stated that Jax cried the most when he first entered the circus. If the quote exists, then I would say that it could be possible that Jax cried a lot during his youth and his parents yelled at him for it because "girls can cry, guys don't" I think that Jax's parents are the cause of his insecurity. They could have overall been harsh towards him about being a "real man" and "manning up". Thus overtime, building up Jax's insecurity about his masculinity and being seen as feminine. The characters don’t communicate with each other. Pomni learns that Kinger becomes intelligent in the dark in episode 3, and ever since then I’ve had one question: why doesn’t she tell the others about this? Episode 8 has genuinely terrible writing in this regard. Pomni discovers that Kinger is intelligent in the dark, says nothing about it, and then five episodes later randomly decides to put him back into darkness—kicking off the chain of events that leads to Caine’s death. Honestly, what’s even stranger than Pomni here is Kinger. Whenever he had the chance to stay in the dark with Pomni or Ragatha, why didn’t he explain anything about the circus? Was he just waiting for someone to ask him, “What do you know about Caine?” The communication problem is most obvious in Episode 5. In the bar scene, the characters start talking about their lives before entering the Digital Circus. How is that even possible? You’ve been living together in the circus for years, and this is the first time you’re talking about your real lives? The only logical explanation for this scene is that the writers wanted to include a moment where the characters briefly mention their pasts so the audience can speculate about what their lives were like. I saw a tweet calling Digital Circus “theory bait,” and honestly, I think that’s partly true. The characters constantly learn incomplete pieces of information and never follow up on them. Ragatha tells Pomni that Jax doesn’t have any friends anymore, and Pomni never asks why. Ragatha never tells anyone that Kinger created a butterfly. No one asks Jax why he doesn’t want to leave the circus. Zooble doesn’t tell anyone that when they told Caine during therapy that no one enjoys his adventures, the entire circus started glitching. There's no problem with scenes that are shown only to the audience—like the dotted sequence at the beginning of Episode 8 explaining Caine’s story, or the flashback revealing Kinger’s past, those are creating mystery. But when characters learn new things about each other and then forget them in the next episode, or never talk about them or ask any follow-up questions, that’s kinda theory baiting. I’m not saying Digital Circus is bad—I really love the show. But it feels like it’s getting worse over time. I held off on posting this because I hoped these questions would be answered as the episodes progressed. Also, up until now, the lack of communication wasn’t that big of a deal. But Episode 8 turns Pomni not telling anyone about Kinger’s intelligence—and Kinger not explaining anything about Caine or the circus while in the dark—into a major plot point. Any soul eater fans here? Me and my husband were head canon-ing a cross over between Soul eater and TADC and I had to draw it. Here’s some of my head canons: -Jax is a utility meister who can sync his wavelength with multiple weapons but struggles to achieve soul resonance with any of them. Kinger is a teacher at the academy but also does side lessons to teach Ragatha meister skills. -Gangle used to be Jax’s weapon but after failing to connect as partners and failing to achieve resonance she re-partnered with Zooble. Pomnj is Jax’s new weapon, the pairing seems strong at first but ultimately still struggles to find resonance.
