You probably have more options doing Table Service meals where you could get a steak or a grilled chicken breast, swap the potato for a salad or veggies. You could make a grocery store run. Get some Keto bun/bread, lunch meat and make sandwiches. There’s also restaurants that have charcuterie boards. Also you could do a late breakfast.

The Native tribes of the American plains invented one of the most efficient survival foods in human history. Lewis and Clark themselves were eating it by 1805 on their expedition(More read below)
Pemmican is dried meat pounded into powder, combined with rendered fat in equal proportions by weight, and pressed into bars with dried berries. That is the entire recipe. Three ingredients. No refrigeration. No cooking required to eat it. A shelf life measured in months to years under the right conditions. One pound of pemmican delivers approximately 3,000 to 3,500 calories, a full day of sustenance for an active adult, in a package you can carry in your coat pocket. The Cree, Lakota, Blackfeet and dozens of other Plains nations had been making it for generations before the fur trade era, and when European explorers and traders encountered it they immediately understood what they were looking at. The Hudson's Bay Company built an entire industrial supply chain around it. Robert Falcon Scott took it to Antarctica. Ernest Shackleton's men ate it on the ice after the Endurance was crushed. William Clark wrote in his journal near what is now Great Falls Montana in 1805: the Hunters killed 3 buffaloe, the most of all the meat I had dried for to make Pemitigon. The spelling is characteristically Clark, creative and phonetic, but the reference is unambiguous. The Corps of Discovery made pemmican from bison on the trail and first encountered it as a prepared food at the formal feast hosted by the Lakota Sioux early in the journey. The journals of Lewis and Clark, edited by Gary Moulton and published by the University of Nebraska Press, are the most thoroughly documented food record in American exploration history and pemmican appears in them as a staple of survival rather than a curiosity. These men were eating nine pounds of fresh meat per man per day on good days and boiling candles to eat on bad ones. When they made pemmican they were thinking about the bad days. submitted by /u/NativeOP to r/ArchiveOfHumanity [link] [comments]

Nature’s Own Keto Bread
If you’re tired of half sandwiches, this is perfect! I had like 4 slices the first day I bought it. Only 35 calories per slice plus 10 g of fiber and 6 g of protein so it almost feels like cheating 😅 It still has a bit of a weird taste and texture, but once you toast it, it’s almost like the real thing. I love to pan fry it with a bit of garlic butter! submitted by /u/PixelsSquared to r/LowCalFoodFinds [link] [comments]

I graduated from college today and there were SO many tall girls I have never seen in my whole 5 years of college. But I couldn't do anything cause I know at this point they already have a boyfriend of a husband. Anyways, some barbeque on a piece of keto bread.
The fact that I'll never see them again makes me so sick. I mean, where else can you find many women taller than 6 foot? Not saying that I'm gonna walk up and ask them to marry me or anything cause I'm an awkward chopped coward but I could really admire them from a distance. Also for some reason I was one of the shortest people including men and women, which is unusual and interesting. Seriously, where were all these girls when I was walking around campus? Maybe it's because of heels or something? (boyfriend 'or', not 'of'. dang, graduating made my IQ drop immediately) submitted by /u/CompletePurification to r/kitchencels [link] [comments]

Anyone gain weight from low calorie keto bread?
I've been having like 4 slices of those 35 calorie per slice bread (e.g. Nature's Own Keto Soft, the Bettergoods stuff from Walmart) almost every day the past few weeks and have noticed I'm up ~4 pounds even while eating at maintenance (I weigh and track calories). Wondering if folks here have experienced the same as I can't think of anything else that would cause this, as in - I'm wondering if all the net carbs stuff is a lie and these slices are really closer to 70 cals each in which case I'm having ~140 cals more each day 😅 submitted by /u/Infamous-Squirrel755 to r/1200isplenty [link] [comments]

i found this bread recently at stop and shop and it’s great. it’s ever so slightly dry, but the pieces are larger and thicker than the previous 40 cal bread i’ve been buying. i’ve been using this for egg white & sugar free syrup french toast which works out to be extremely low cal and taste great. submitted by /u/deadeye-2kcloutzz to r/LowCalFoodFinds [link] [comments]

Do NOT Binge on keto bread.
Actually, most low carb breads in general. Because 99.9% of the low carb breads depend on fiber for structure, and this usually have 5+ grams of fiber per slice. Please, do NOT do what I do earlier and binge on an entire loaf of keto bread. Especially if you don’t eat much fiber, do not even buy keto bread. I was a little luckier because outside of my binging episodes, I eat relatively high fiber. But I still think that my toilet will never forgive me. submitted by /u/poopingprotein to r/BingeEatingDisorder [link] [comments]

I reverse engineered my favorite $11 keto sweet white bread (based on the ingredients label) and it actually worked! It’s the best homemade keto bread I’ve ever made. Here’s the full recipe 🤫
Hello lovely people, I recently stumbled across an absolutely delicious keto white bread. It tastes like normal white bread - it’s slightly sweet but savoury at the same time, making it perfect for sweet spreads and for lunch or dinner sandwiches. It’s everything I want in a bread: it’s soft, it’s versatile, and it fits my diet. My problem is that this delicious bread is $11 per loaf, and it only lasts me 2-3 days… So, I decided to do what any normal person would do - I read the ingredients list on the back, purchased myself a loaf pan, and decided to just estimate everything based on the exact order of ingredients. In my country, food manufacturers must list ALL ingredients on the label - so this made it slightly easier for me. The first attempt was pretty close but overall I wasn’t totally happy, but today I cracked it - or at least I got incredibly incredibly close. And today I also wanted to share this delicious recipe with all of you to enjoy. (The last pic shows the store bread, left, versus my homemade bread, right). I firmly believe that being healthy shouldn’t cost us 3x-5x the normal price - it’s kind of ridiculous how much we get ripped off at the grocery store because of our diet. Anyways enjoy! Ingredients - 150g (2/3 cup) warm water (40°C, 104°F) - 1/2 tsp white sugar or inulin (for feeding yeast only - the yeast actually eats the sugar so it doesn’t add to the carb count - just don’t add more than 1/2 tsp. if you prefer to not use sugar, inulin is a keto option but both will be eaten by the yeast) - 8g yeast (≈2 1/2 tsp. this part is quite important - instead of instant yeast try to use a yeast with added dough conditioners for a softer bread like texture - I use a mix called surebake which improves texture and adds negligible carbs. however instant yeast will work pretty great too. up to you) - 10g olive oil - 5g apple cider vinegar - 150g vital wheat gluten (yes it’s a lot but just trust the process. be cautious about the carb count on your vital wheat gluten - some brands have very very low carbs but some other brands can be shockingly high. I compared a few options online and ending up getting mine from a vegan store, it has 7g carbs per 100g - for 15 slices it’s quite negligible) - 42g almond flour - 28g coconut flour - 1 1/2 tsp xanthan gum (don’t skip this - it dramatically improves the texture) - 1/2 tsp salt - 5g plain flour (yes real flour - we only need a tiny bit for feeding yeast and vastly improving the bread like texture. if you want the bread even more white, use up to 10g plain flour - but do not leave it out completely) - 20g erythritol + stevia blend (I use a blend that is 2x as sweet as table sugar - granulated or powdered is fine - but powdered is preferred) Instructions 1. Proof yeast: Use a microwave and a glass bowl to heat the water to roughly 40°C (I use a thermometer, it usually takes about 30 seconds). Next, add sugar/inulin, sprinkle yeast, and wait for AT LEAST 10 mins until foamy. Whatever you do, do not rush this part - it’s vital. 2. Mix dry: Combine all dry ingredients. 3. Make dough: Add yeast water, oil, vinegar. Mix, then knead 8–10 mins until smooth. 4. First rise: Cover, and proof for 60–90 mins until doubled. To do this, I turn my oven on min temp for 1 minute and then turn it off, including the light. Boil 1.5 cups of water and put it at the bottom of the oven- then put your covered dough in. 6. Shape & second rise: Form it into a log, and put it into a lined loaf pan. To line the loaf pan, I first spray it with olive oil spray and then line only the bottom and the two longer sides with a single sheet. Then I give all sides and the bottom a quick spray with more olive oil. Additionally - your loaf pan is important. do not use a glass loaf pan, and preferably use a good tall one - unfortunately I didn’t have time to get a proper tall loaf pan, hence the slightly off shape. Proof for 45 mins. At this point, it should be doming above the rim. If it hasn’t domed that much yet, your yeast may not be totally activated or it may need an extra 15-20 mins. 6. Bake: 180°C (355°F), 30–35 mins, internal temp should read 95°C (203°F). Tent with foil if browning. I baked mine for exactly 33 mins. 7. Cool & store: Cool fully before slicing, important! Store airtight 4–5 days or freeze. Storage: This bread seems to prefer being refrigerated airtight - the only ingredient that it doesn’t contain compared to the original is calcium propionate, an ingredient which helps prevent molding. If you have some at home feel free to add 1/2 tsp with the dry ingredients for extra mold protection. It’s not a huge loaf so it’s fine without if you eat it in a few days. Anyways please let me know if you make this bread, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did! And I’m open to hearing your opinions on how I might improve this recipe, if you have any. I love experimenting in the kitchen, especially reverse engineering my favorite foods and snacks. There is something incredibly satisfying and exciting to me about biting into a homemade bake that tastes EXACTLY like the product you buy at the store for like 5x the price. So far I have made several knock off protein bars, cookies and now bread. Have a lovely day guys! :) submitted by /u/flynncorp to r/ketorecipes [link] [comments]

Are keto breads actually keto?
I’ve seen some evidence suggesting that keto breads actually raise your blood sugar a significant amount, even though they aren’t supposed to. Do you eat keto breads or should these also be avoided as any normal bread? Carb friendly bread seems too good to be true, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they really are no different than regular bread. Like have they been scientifically studied or regulated? submitted by /u/meganlovestorun to r/keto [link] [comments]

Be careful with keto bread
I am relatively new to keto so have been trying some "keto" foods and snacks. I realized that I don't feel so good after some of them. I was feeling great and then had 2 slices of keto bread with egg salad and then felt really tired, mild stomach upset, and had a headache. I checked my ketone levels and they dropped to 0.2 after testing 0.6 earlier that day. I looked at ingredients and saw "modified wheat starch." Not sure exactly what that is and based on my research I don't think it is all the same. Regardless, it pushed me out of keto so I would be careful with it. I saw some posts about keto tortillas which also have that in them. My general feeling is that all those processed "keto foods" are not great and should be eaten only on occasion. Would be interested in other people's experience. submitted by /u/Ok-Rise9823 to r/keto [link] [comments]

Is Keto-bread safe to eat for prediabetics?
I saw this Timber Wolf brand keto bread at costco. The label says it only has 1 gram of net carb, the rest of the carbs are dietary fiber. T1 diabetic who ruined Costco "quest bar" knock offs, back to discuss the Aldi Keto bread:
Sorry it took so long to get back to you all, it's been over a year since I ruined Costco protein bars for the sub at large. Many of you asked if I would try Aldi's keto bread and report back, and I finally have. As you may recall from my last experiment, I found after weeks of eating costco's brand of questbar-style protein bars, that the blood sugar readings I got didn't line up with their listed net carb counts. (I get the privilege of taking insulin from a pump instead of making my own, so I know how much I take at all times.) Whenever I ate a quest bar, I would take the prescribed dosage of insulin for the carbs listed. Then my blood sugar would inevitably reach 200-250 within an hour or so, and I would take as much insulin to correct those readings as if I had just eaten straight sugar. So don't eat them, if you want to keep your insulin low! So let's talk Aldi Keto bread: IT'S LEGIT. I can't take insulin for it or my blood sugar drops as if I forgot to eat. When I eat this bread, I take no insulin, and my blood sugars still stay stable. So enjoy, my keto friends. It may taste kinda like ass, but I don't have to worry about my blood sugar, so it's sort of a fair trade off, I guess. Edit: A lot of people have noted that my original post about the protein bars was removed. I still see it in my post history, though, so I copied it in one of the comments below. Won't copy it in the main text here; I wonder if it broke some rule? If it did, my comment with the original post can always be removed, but hopefully this one stays up. submitted by /u/emilance to r/keto [link] [comments]

Aldi Keto Bread Update
After visiting my local Aldi stores several days in a row without success, I got flagged down as soon as I walked in this morning. Apparently, an e-mail went out from corporate to let people know that the zero carb bread WILL become a permanent item... in October. None of my local stores got it (despite the online circular saying they would), but there have apparently been lots of people asking about it. One clerk told me yesterday that she wanted to get it in just so people would stop constantly asking her about it! submitted by /u/anonymoushenry to r/keto [link] [comments]

It took me a while of doing Keto to realize just how over used bread is. It's on everything, as a filler. I started to realize that it doesn't even add that much to the meal.
