Best book recommendations for the Mediterranean diet
Hello, I am looking for cookbook/ book recommendations for the Mediterranean diet. I heard this is a liver friendly type of lifestyle. So i am willing to give it a try. But there are a lot of books out there, so i want to see which one has worked for you. I am looking to meal prep my lunches and i am looking for recipes that don’t take too long to make during the week. I get home at 6pm, typically i use recipes that take about 30 minutes to cook. My small kids would also be eating this way too. :-) thank you. submitted by /u/elsy_g to r/FattyLiverNAFLD [link] [comments]

Looking for cookbook recommendations that would be a good fit to my diet
Hi everyone, I tried to find some pictures that represent how I cook and eat. At home I don’t eat any red meat, and no dairy. I occasionally eat chicken, and rarely eat eggs. Staples on my diet are: fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, mackerel, trout, etc), tofu, whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, barley, millet, etc), seaweed, and veggies. I don’t follow any particular diet but I frequently draw inspiration from Macrobiotic and Mediterranean diets. I also enjoy implementing Japanese cuisine elements in my dishes. I’d love to know if you guys have any suggestions for me. It doesn’t need to be a perfect fit but I’m struggling to find cook books that appeal to me. Thank you!!! submitted by /u/Puddyrama to r/CookbookLovers [link] [comments]

Mediterranean Cookbook Advice
I know people have asked for Mediterranean cookbook recommendations before, and I did peruse old posts for ideas. My husband has been told to follow a Mediterranean diet for health reasons and I’d love to get a new cookbook for him for Christmas. However he also has Celiac disease, and we cook for a toddler as well, so the recipes need to be adaptable to remove gluten and be tiny human approved. Does anyone have a recommendation for a Mediterranean diet-focused cookbook that might fit our household? TYIA! submitted by /u/fishnet_stockings to r/CookbookLovers [link] [comments]

Seasonal mediterranean diet cookbook?
I have Greece: The Cookbook and ATK's cookbook at home. The whole family loves greek and mediterranean food, but we feel like we haven't found the perfect cookbook yet. We're looking for something authentic (not fusion or other modern stuff like that), not too labour-intensive, but most importantly seasonal. We rely a lot on the vegetables in our garden and most of the greek cookbooks have an emphasis on tomato, cucumber, eggplant... stuff we don't grow in the winter. I'm looking for a mediterranean diet cookbook (ideally Greece-focused) that is organized by seasons rather than by courses, so I don't have to ruffle through 700 pages of summery recipes to find the one wintery one I was looking for. Does anyone know of something like this? submitted by /u/Wild_Ad7879 to r/mediterraneancooking [link] [comments]

My understanding of the Mediterranean diet seems different than the internet's
This recipe compilation I came across today features so many recipes that are not Mediterranean friendly, at least according to my understanding. I was skeptical when I saw "creamy" in the article's title, but there are plenty of plant-based creamy soups out there. But half these recipes have heavy cream and cream cheese in them. It was also "reviewed" by a "dietitian." I don't understand. I see stuff like this all the time and even own a "Mediterranean" cookbook that I realized after purchasing is not actually 100% Mediterranean-friendly recipes. Why is this a thing? Of course there's room for leeway in the diet, but not so much that you'd add a heavy cream soup into your regular rotation and delude yourself into thinking it's healthy, right? Are people really that ignorant about the Mediterranean diet or do I just take it too seriously? submitted by /u/pilolahv to r/mediterraneandiet [link] [comments]

How many of you have tried the Mediterranean diet?
Like have you noticed less flares or fewer inflammatory symptoms? Also, please drop some recommendations here of some good Mediterranean cookbooks or recipes you use. Upon diagnosis my rheumatologist suggested the Meditarranean diet is the best to follow to reduce inflammation --- in tandem with being a great low-sodium heart-healthy lifestyle since I also have both kidney disease and hypertension. submitted by /u/myst3ryAURORA_green to r/lupus [link] [comments]

Cookbook for a heart healthy diet?
My dad recently had a heart attack and was sent home with strict dietary requirements— very low sodium (so nothing canned), lean meats, whole grains, vegetables, etc. Can anyone recommend a recent-ish cookbook that specifically addresses this kind of diet? I know there are lots of “Mediterranean diet” cookbooks out there, but they don’t necessarily do low sodium or other aspects of his specific prescribed diet. I lost 20lbs on the Skyrim Diet
I’ll start with a few disclaimers: I am not a nutritionist, maybe someone who is can give their professional perspective I know there are Elder Scrolls cookbooks, but I don’t have one and haven’t used any of those recipes So I have always preferred healthy foods but lacked time and motivation to dedicate to a diet. I live in an area with a similar biome to Skyrim and have leaned in to eating local and/or native to the area foods. There is a variation of the Mediterranean diet called the Scandinavian diet that this might be similar to. I’m basically using items found in game as the main staples of my diet. Here are some of the things I’ve been eating: Fish - arctic char, salmon, cod, smoked trout Mushrooms - I know these are an alchemical ingredient, but I love mushrooms and they’re a big part of my diet Veggies - lots of soups and stews, grilled leeks, basically different forms of Skyrim veggies Grains - whole wheat and oat based things primarily Dairy - I still consume milk, butter, cheese like Stilton (Eidar cheese wheel?) and goat cheese. I’m going to put chicken and quail eggs in this category, too Meat - chicken, beef, venison when I can find it Drinks and sweets - I love mead and I have made some spruce tip and juniper berry infused mead. I occasionally have wine and beer. I’ve been making a lot of tea with lavender and things like that. I treat cranberries and lingonberries as snowberries, and blueberries as jazbay grapes because I’m not really into grapes. I eat apples often. The baking items in Skyrim are pretty easy to replicate with everyday recipes. Anyways, I thought this might be interesting to people. Any thoughts or ideas? submitted by /u/cutesycollins to r/skyrim [link] [comments]

Mediterranean Cookbooks?
Hellpppp I love Mediterranean food (Greek, Israeli, Cyprus, etc.) I love how flavorful and healthy it is. I really want a Mediterranean inspired cookbook with a plethora of recipes to cook, especially with summer coming up. I just can’t find the one! I love to cook and really want an elevated gorgeous cookbook, with dishes to make weekly. Thank you!!! P.S. not a “diet” focused book! Is the Mediterranean diet really the best?
Hello, recently diagnosed and have been doing a lot of research. It seems like the Mediterranean diet is recommended most often, so I bought a highly rated cookbook. It was very nice but full of recipes that included pasta, rice, bread and cheese and I thought we are supposed to avoid those things so I returned it. My doc actually recommended the DASH diet to me, and I've seen other people on this sub recommend keto. I have a diabetic relative who isn't supposed to have any sugar, alcohol, white rice, pasta, bread or potatoes, etc which sounds the same as what my doc told me to avoid, so should I actually follow the diabetic diet? I'm having a hard time knowing what I absolutely cannot eat and what is ok to eat occasionally in very limited moderation. It's all so confusing and I've read a lot of conflicting information. Which diet is best for us? submitted by /u/supercali-2021 to r/FattyLiverNAFLD [link] [comments]

My first week straight from The Complete Mediterranean Diet cookbook.
I’m into my second month recovering from two surgeries. I really needed good, healthy food to feel better and to avoid weight gain. A complete novice to Mediterranean cooking I bought the cookbook. So far I’m loving it! I do have a question. Do all jarred/canned Kalamata olives taste the same? I’m not liking the current brand on hand.
