My nails today vs 4 years ago (please excuse slightly nail polish-stained nails)
I didn’t realize how much my nail shape and length have changed until looking back on old pictures yesterday. I was a pretty avid nail biter as a teen and didn’t care much for my nails at all. I used to think I just had very short nailbeds and that they would always naturally grow out into a duck shape. But holy, pushing back my cuticles and letting my nails grow out has made a huge difference in the long run?! That isn’t all I’ve been doing of course, and I started caring more seriously for my nails about 2 years ago or so. I put on handcream 1-2 times a day, and massage my cuticles with argan oil. (Making sure to put some under my nails as well) I also wear nail polish pretty much 100% of the time (so they do get a bit stained unfortunately, especially if I wear bright colors) But that is definitely super helpful too. My nails aren’t very strong and thick when «naked», and wearing nail polish helps giving my nails a bit of weight and thickness so they maintain a more pronounced c-curve. I have kinda switched out the nail biting habit with pushing back my cuticles though, so they never get the chance to grow up my nail. I have a tendency to go a bit overboard sometimes, but I’m working on trying to stop picking/pushing them back too much and leaving them alone. But overall I’m actually very happy with my nails now! I just wanted to share my joy and journey with you, but if you have any advice I wouldn’t mind hearing it! Feel free to share your experiences with nail care and your nail transformations as well though, I’d love to hear about it : ) submitted by /u/Difficult-Sample7484 to r/Nails [link] [comments]

I recently started painting my own nails after a change where I’m no longer able to regularly go to the salon. I’ve been using Holo Taco for a bit now and I like it but looking to branch out! Moving across continents with my 1300+ nail polish collection. How much you think I can get on the airplane?
I used to be a nail blogger/youtuber 10+ years ago, so I managed to get quite the collection. I even built myself from scratch the shelves I had them on, though I think I never shared it online (I may had, I honestly can't remember) and of course, space ran out after a couple years of blogging. A few years ago I moved from Argentina to Italy to buy a house, and my plans were to spend 6 months a year in each country, taking them little by little. Sadly, a couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and I'm bound to stay in Italy because of the treatment I need (it needs to be done every 6 weeks). I now need to move my collection to Italy, and the company that's doing my move says I can't take it on the container because they are concerned about safety. The last 2 times I went back and forth to Italy, I was able to get around 20 or 30 nail polishes per suitcase on the plane without having any issues nor anyone asking about it. Of course I won't be taking it all together now, but I was wondering how much could I take on each suitcase, since I'm traveling with 2 people and around 4 suitcases. 50? 100 on each? I know they'll probably stop me at baggage check since I have rainbow hair and that always seem to get their alarms going, but still, could they make me get rid of it if it's too much? How much is too much? It's clearly not for selling, since most of them are expired/dry and there's almost none repeated. Thank you for your help! submitted by /u/LeftCartoonist8884 to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

Has anyone else dealt with judgment over their nail polish collection size?
Over a decade I’ve amassed hundreds of nail polishes in my collection. When I first joined my workplace, I shared that as my “fun fact” during introductions. The room went completely silent and people’s expressions just went blank, which set the tone early. I work in nonprofit, so I don’t have a ton of disposable income, and I do feel some guilt about not saving more. At the same time, my job is emotionally heavy. I support marginalized people through difficult situations, and nail polish is how I decompress. Collecting and staring at the sparklies gives me something lighter to focus on. A lot of my coworkers are very anti-consumerism and hold themselves to high standards around spending. I don’t judge them, in fact I really respect it, but it does make the environment feel a bit rigid. I wear a different color almost every day, and one day a coworker remarked, “Wow, you REALLY have a lot of nail polish” in a tone that felt quite judgmental. I tried to keep things positive and even offered to bring some in and do everyone’s nails for team bonding, but they declined and said it didn’t fit with the nonprofit’s culture. Since then I’ve mostly stopped talking about it, even though it’s a big passion of mine. I’ve been feeling pretty judged. :/ Would really appreciate hearing if anyone else has gone through something similar or how you handled it. Just trying to feel a little less alone here. submitted by /u/WannaDelRey to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

I bought a shelf for my nail polishes, the gaps are only a few millimetres too short
What it says in the title. I measured my polishes before ordering and the listing said the shelf gaps would be 8cm (not including the actual shelves), which would be just tall enough for my polishes, but the gaps are actually 7.3cm, so they lied basically and now I’ve wasted my money. With the way it’s built I can’t just take it apart and sand down the shelves either. submitted by /u/PaperXmasCrown to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]
