UPDATE: so I just opened the Gemini app again and not only did I lose access to Omni, it has now reverted back to the old UI, so I don’t even have the new UI anymore which is very disappointing. I guess we’ll see if I get either back, but it doesn’t look good right now Anyone else get this pop up when opening the app for the first time? It’s been showing up every now and then the last few days. I don’t use video gen, but what makes this new model better? I’ve officially had this chair for 6 months now, so I figured I’d do a kind of long-term update in case it helps anyone else who’s still debating. Seat cushion: This was probably my biggest concern going in, because I saw a lot of people wondering if it would flatten out over time. So far, I really haven’t seen that happen. I’m in this chair pretty much every day, probably 5–7 hours a day, and it still feels just as soft and supportive as it did at the beginning. Obviously 6 months isn’t forever, so I can’t promise how it’ll look years from now, but at least so far I haven’t seen any sagging. Dynamic adjustment(a surprise favorite): At first I honestly thought this would be one of those features that sounds nice on paper and then never gets used. But I use it all the time now. When I’m sitting upright, I like the support a little higher, and when I recline, I usually lower it. I can really adjust the angle and position to match how I’m sitting. Build quality so far: No creaking, no weird noises from the back or joints, and the battery has been totally fine. I charge it about once a month and that’s been enough. What it’s actually changed for me: I’m not going to pretend it magically cured my back, but I have noticed a real difference. Before this, after sitting for an hour or two I’d get that numb/achy feeling in my lower back, upper back, and even my thighs. That’s been a lot better with this chair, which honestly matters more to me than any fancy feature. I know 6 months doesn’t mean much compared to people who’ve had a chair for 10+ years, but based on how it’s holding up so far, I feel pretty good about it lasting. In the past few years I've gone through most of the popular big chairs recommended here. Started with an Amia, moved to a Leap, then the Aeron, then Embody, back to Leap, back to Embody. Demo'ed a Fern and ended up getting rid of the Embody for the second time. About a week ago, I got the Omni in to see if I'd keep my Fern and pass this on to a family member. Below are my thoughts on my chair journey Amia - Incredible seat but too limiting (like the Leap v2) and stiff. Great office chair & still better then most budget chairs for lounging. Leap v2 - Better back from the Amia but same flaws + strengths Aeron - Like the airy feeling of the Aeron for work but only for work. Any lounging/gaming/relaxing is a no-go for me as the structure of the chair is too stiff and made of hard materials. Embody (had gaming version both times) - The perfect chair for working. Materials are great and the chair just feels premium. Problem with the Embody is the recline doesn't go nearly as far as I'd like and worse when in recline digs into my shoulder blades. Not an enjoyable chair to use when putting your feet up and relaxing though the chair isn't aiming for that. Fern (digital knit + aluminum base)- Seat isn't as good as the Embody and over time felt like its lost a slight amount of padding. The Back is incredible however and the recline feels much better then Embody so I ended up getting rid of the Embody for the second time. To me it's also my favorite looking chair with the Aluminum base + digital knit. Hard to let go of this chair Omni - Drawbacks - Had about 1 week This isn't a chair I recommend you fart in. Really feels like it'll seal in smelliness. It doesn't look as good as the Fern or Embody nor is it as well built or premium Concern with the warranty and longevity of the Omni as well. The Omni has that "sink in effect". This is that feeling where you feel sunk in to your chair and you're putting in extra effort to get out of it. The Embody/Fern both feel easy to get out of with their firmness which is nice when you're getting up for a stretch or whatever. The legrest (top part) fabric gives a slight pull to leg hairs. Super minor but noticeable The stretch is a gimmick you may not use much but for some like me, will frequently use the lumbar adjustment Omni Strengths I cannot emphasize how great the Omni feels on the 3rd and 4th recline option with a footrest. The Omni is by far the best I've had in an office chair/footrest combo The bottom level of the footrest feels really good for work and makes me feel less fidgety. The legrest part feels great and is the first legrest + recline that didn't cause stiffness in my legs The seat/back feels pillow like and comfort doesn't change as you move in the chair. Many other chairs have such hard materials that when you make adjustments to your seating position,. you feel them. The Omni rather feels like you're wrapped in the seat. The lumbar adjustment is great to change how your back is supported. The button just makes the ease of doing it frequently easy The Omni is significantly cheaper and if it was $1,500 or $2,000, I'd take it over the others TLDR: Embody - Work 10/10 & Lounge 6/10 Fern - Work 9/10 & Lounge 7.5/10 Leap & Amia - Work 8.5/10 & Lounge 5.5/10 Aeron - Work 9/10 & Lounge 3/10 Omni - Work 8/10 & Lounge 10/10 Sticking with the Omni over the Fern. submitted by /u/Previous-Tea-8750 to r/OfficeChairs [link] [comments]
