Picked this up in rough shape. Rectangular case, original dial with Arabic numerals, sub-seconds at 6. Serial puts it around mid-1930s. Case back stamped R.W.C. and Fond Acier Inoxydable. Cleaned the movement, polished the case, new crystal. Everything original - nothing replaced. What do you think? Attached Images

Hi Reddit, I am posting a photo of this watch with the hopes that someone on the internet recognizes their lost watch and has the serial number. I called Rolex and asked them what to do and they suggested I bring it to the police and put it in lost and found. I just know there is no way I will ever get it back even if it isn’t reported stolen or lost. I found it in the Miami in a restroom. I know exactly what day and time I found it. Dated a manager at the second largest Rolex store in a major city. Her best friend manages the #1 store. Took them out for drinks one night and got them to "spill all the beans." This is what I learned: If you want the Panda you have to have at least 70k spend at their store. "We know a store where its only 60k if you really want it." When you are offered a watch you never signed up for or don't necessarily want, they will most likely remove your name from the waitlist on the watch you put your name down for. While you think just placing your name on the list is enough, there are others that are gifting these sales managers. They constantly get tickets to events, expensive self care treatments, tv's, trips, etc. Their best client has spent $9,000,000 in jewelry this year. He had dibs on the Tiffany Daytona. They claimed he probably washes his money through watches. And even called him a FRAUD lol. Each store gets about 4,000 watches a year compared to about 29,000 on the waiting list. They have about 3-4 days to get rid of all watches that come in. Its high pressured sales environment from above and your store begins to lose rank as the days go by. This is all I'm going to disclose. Enjoy. Edit: For the tHiS iS bULLsHiT crowd, #2 is a variable. This is why I said "most likely". One said she does this. The other stated she doesn't. But continue with your fantasy as you wish. Edit #2: For the reddit accountants I don't know and I don't care how many watches would actually be in circulation if each store actually received 4,000 watches per year. These are the numbers they spilled out. We are in a major market and probably the most desired city to live in currently in the US. I'm sure smaller markets get less watches and high traffic cities receive more. I made this post to help others who were on the fence on either going Grey or waiting on that call. If you have spend at your store continue to grow your relationship as you will eventually get the call. I’ve been making Rolex related skits / content on instagram for a while. And out of the blue, a guy who works at Rolex in Switzerland said he shares them with his manager and enjoys them. So I straight up asked him why it was so hard to get a green dialled date just and what the fastest way to get a Rolex you actually want. After a few days he to back to me with a full list of things him and his team consider when allocating Rolex’s. Some things are more predictable whilst other tips I thought could be quite helpful . I’ll probably get downvoted to hell but whatever. Rolex used to be cool. Back in the day, they were pioneers. Tool watches, tough movements, iconic designs. But now? It’s just a clout machine for people who want to show off without actually knowing anything about watches. It’s the same designs over and over again. Sub, Daytona, Datejust... no risks, no innovation, just small changes and hype. They haven’t done anything truly new in years. They’re selling scarcity and branding, not horology. I’ll give credit to the Batgirl, that one’s actually dope. But most modern Rolex models are just safe, boring, overpriced status symbols. You’re basically paying $10K+ to wear what every finance bro and YouTuber wears. Meanwhile brands like Grand Seiko, Lange, Journe, and even tiny indie houses are doing insane, creative stuff. But Rolex still dominates just because of the crown logo. Rolex used to lead the game. Now it’s a marketing scam with a steel bracelet. Long time lurker here. Been looking to purchase something after passing a big exam last year. Was put on multiple “lists” at different dealers. Went to one yesterday with my wife and one year old son with the goal of trying things on before likely going gray. The manager got a kick out of my son and came up to me asking what I was looking for. Said he’d be right back and came out with this puppy. Was in complete shock. A lot of men wear a Rolex to show they’ve “made it.” But in reality it is an anti-status symbol, like loud branded clothes (e.g., Gucci, Armani). For those who love watches, it’s a good brand but not as interesting as finding something unique or more intriguing from a micro-brand or one of the other manufacturers with more eclectic models. For those who are truly rich, it’s a sign someone has a little extra income but isn’t on their level—that’s reserved for Patek, Richard Mille, and other truly expensive brands. For those who think shows of status are obnoxious, it’s an easy sign that someone is trying to impress others without even being interesting enough to find something unique. I visited a Rolex Authorized Dealer in Sydney today to follow up on the Submariner I had expressed interest in two months ago. To my disappointment, the sales representative didn’t even ask for my name to check their system. Instead, she casually brushed me off with, “We’ll call you when the watch is available,” showing little enthusiasm or effort to assist. Is it really worth sacrificing even a shred of dignity for a mere watch? I think not. My money will go elsewhere—to a brand that values its customers. The Omega Speedmaster will be my choice.
