Short outfit ≠ artistic choice
I gotta rant, it boils my blood to see people pretend that women having sexualised designs and skimpy outfits in Snezhnaya is an artistic choice. No tf its not. And then they dare act dense as if men arent covered head to toe, while women are wearing the concept of a cloth IN A WINTER REGION. "Oh but as an artist short skirts makes women look good for silhouette" No it does not, you can have a good silhouette even without skimpy outfits or sexualizing women at every turn. Istg when i see that type of comment i feel like im the crazy one. 😭😭😭 idk i just came here to see if anyone agrees with me ,cause i feel like im going crazy, am i wrong?? Married a man who lives in Pune.
My marriage was arranged and for some reason we live in Pune Pg . I noticed whenever I wanted to drink tea I went outside with him and drank it. One day he was getting late and the tea shop was crowded by men . As a woman i got a little bit scared. My husband told me to chill here all men are educated. Initially when I came to live with him I used to wear a salwar suit he gave me shorts means 3/4 and shoft tshirt. Whenever I go outside wearing a jeans tshirt he tells me to hide my mangalsutra because it is not going well with the outfit. I realised how secure he is.Whenever he goes to the office he tells me everything about his work and what he did. He proudly showed me his office. I feel so good that I married this man .Most of the time he only thinks of buying a house and getting a good salary. Even in his free time he studies and prepares for the interview. He said he doesn't have a house and a car to bring kids to his life he will not have kids yet and told me also we will plan the kid but it is so soon. Even if we go to his house he helps his mother and me with every household work.like if we are washing clothes in the washing machine he puts water in it. He folds dry clothes. He put washed utensils in his place. Before marriage I told his 2 things first to buy me a gajra for every occasion and second is to make me a tea because I love tea. He still makes me a tea it's been 1 year now I just love him. I am a picky eater. Whenever there is no good food at pg he told me if you don't eat that vegetable let me feed you. When the time comes we will also eat in the restaurant but not everyday it is not healthy I told him ok. He said we both should work hard for our future our kids and yet refused to take even signal rupees from me. He is a money saver type person. But in his cousin's wedding he bought me the prettiest outfits out of his budget plan. I don't wear tika, sindoor and bangles some time. He said there is no one to judge you here. Note: I posted this just to appreciate him. submitted by /u/False_Papaya_8914 to r/Maharashtra [link] [comments]

Grown men commenting on teenage girls outfits
As a 29 year old woman I think adult men should not be commenting on teenage girls outfits, and calling them "sluts & whores and saying they are dressing for the male gaze or attention." Just because they wear short shorts, crop tops and spaghetti strap shirts? It makes me mad, and uncomfortable. I feel like the only reason they make comments like that is because they are sexualizing the girl rather than seeing it's 83 degree weather and summer time? This has been an issue for adult men since I was young and I absolutely never understood it and found it absolutely repulsive. Yes I know some girls do go out and look for that kind of attention but it's usually because of trauma. So once again I don't put blame on the girls, I put blame on the men/teenage boys that over sexualized them or took advantage of them at a young age. I just want to see if it's just me that thinks this way or there are other women out there that agree. submitted by /u/RodeoRabbitSoup to r/Feminism [link] [comments]

My boyfriend (18M) and I (18F) constantly fight over what I wear and I don't know how to compromise.
Me (18F) and my boyfriend (18M) have been fighting constantly over what I wear, and it’s getting to the point where it’s becoming an everyday argument. We have been together for around 6 months. He says they aren’t “rules,” but more like boundaries/preferences. The issue is that the list has gotten so long that I feel like I can barely express myself anymore. Some examples: no crop tops unless he’s with me no tube tops unless he’s with me skirts/dresses have to be knee length shorts have to be knee length no tank tops no low cut shirts no bikinis or one pieces (only t-shirt and shorts for swimming) no tight jeans unless he’s with me no visible bra straps no makeup no fake tan no hair dye/extensions no more piercings no tattoos no false lashes no hairstyles that “change my natural hair” I genuinely have tried to compromise because I know relationships require compromise, but I feel miserable. I love fashion, makeup, jewelry, and putting together cute outfits. Dressing feminine makes me feel confident and pretty, and lately I feel like I’ve lost that part of myself. I’m naturally very petite and don’t have much of a figure, so when all I wear is oversized t-shirts and jeans, I honestly just feel unattractive and insecure. Whenever I try explaining that I dress for myself and not for male attention, he gets upset and says things like: “So you have to show off your body to feel pretty?” He also argues that the world is bad and men are going to look at me if I wear certain things. Recently we got into a fight because I wore a skirt for couple pictures that went to my fingertips and I wore pantyhose with it. I don’t know what to do anymore because I love him, but I also feel like I’m slowly losing myself and becoming insecure all the time.Is there actually a healthy compromise for something like this? submitted by /u/urgayL to r/relationship_advice [link] [comments]

Looksmaxxing - by men for men
I read this article this morning, about how looksmaxxing funnels young teenage boys down a misogynistic rabbit hole as it is related to incel culture. Highly recommend reading just for the internet slang alone! Personally, the article probably focuses more on exactly how looksmaxxing works rather than the misogynistic aspect. But, while reading I got kinda angry. Girls and women are socialised to "lookmaxx" from early teenagehood as well. I started shaving my legs when I was twelve. Twelve! And started wearing make up shortly after. Ensured I wore the most flattering outfits so my arms don't look fat at thirteen. Died my hair fashionable colours. Stopped eating for days so I could look like Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie. Singed the shit out of my curly hair because I always looked like the "before" photo with curly hair and glasses of those early 2000s movies. You get the idea. There is a multi-billion dollar industry that relies on the insecurity of women, why isn't that studied? And why is that socially acceptable? And why doesn't this turn into whole movements of misandry, like the looksmaxxing does? Of course I know the answer, which is entitlement of access to a female body. But it is giving the whole "male loneliness epidemic" when, in fact, it is men who do this to mostly impress other men. If they would actually listen to women, none of this would be a thing. Show me one woman who seriously takes part in these incel/looksmaxxing communities. Anyways, that's my rant. submitted by /u/Morticia_Black to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

My(f23) former pastor defended Larry Nassar in a pre-sermon rant about the winter olympics, and my parents are relaying his message to my brother(m12)
I am not OOP. The OOP for this post is u/throwraowlcheesecake. His posts were made to r/OpenChristian, a community that while smaller than r/Christianity, prides itself on being more progressive and LGBTQ friendly with rules that don't allow anyone to speak negatively about them Important Context: Larry Nassar was a Team USA Women's National Gymnastics Team doctor from 1996-2014, where he used his position to exploit and sexually assault hundreds of young athletes as part of the largest sexual abuse scandal in sports history. Nassar was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting at least 265 young women and girls over a 22-year period under the guise of medical treatment. His victims included numerous Olympic gymnasts, with some as young as six-years-old OOP also added that the church was a Non-Denominational church Trigger Warning: pedophilia, victim blaming minors Mood Spoiler: unfortunate Original Post: (February 11th, 2026) I haven't lived with my parents since starting college, and I currently live by myself while working two jobs. I live a little over an hour away, but I come home for the holidays and other occasions, along with the Super Bowl this past Sunday. My parents are very religious, and I have a younger brother who's twelve. I always sleep over whenever I visit, and the only rule is that I must attend church (if staying on a Sunday) because mom doesn't want anyone home when they're not there, and that extended to friends and family since I was young. I was surprised when it extended to me since I grew up in their home, but I'm glad to no longer be forced to attend church every week. My dad always held a Super Bowl party since I was young, and I came up on Saturday to help set up as usual. This situation happened as a result of attending church on Super Bowl Sunday Despite our pastor taking a moment to give his thoughts on the big game before the sermon, the situation came from something else he vented about, and that was the Winter Olympics. Ironically, it wasn't about any of the athletes who made political statements (which was surprising given his history with sharing political opinions). It was about something he and his wife discussed and felt led to share. Long story short, they advised their kids to change the channel if figure skating came on any of the broadcasts, and their reasons were harmful in my opinion. He said that some of the female outfits were "revealing" and not good to watch because it can lead to lust. He also went on about how "the world" finds ways to "normalize telling girls to dress inappropriately". He even said the Summer Olympics did the same thing with the uniforms that the female gymnasts wore... going as far as to call it "normalized p*rn" because their parents would "never allow them to wear a skirt that shows as much" as the uniform outside of the sport setting He also said the uniforms "allowed creeps to watch with lustful intentions and not be questioned" because it was normalized, and he didn't like that possibility when one of his kids used to do gymnastics. He did, however, mention a rule change in recent years that allowed girls to wear shorts over their uniforms during competitions; something he supported and would've required his daughter to wear full-time if she still played. He also said it was unfortunate that the rule change and the female German Olympic team's full-body gymnastics uniforms happened after Larry Nassar's case because "no one wanted to point out the inappropriate uniforms" that he was "forced to be around" because there was an "agenda" to punish him. He also said that many girls were "playing the victim" because society "allowed them to". He even said Nassar "maybe wouldn't have done what he did" if not for the uniforms he was forced to be around, and I personally thought that that shifted blame onto the uniforms instead of his actions. His overarching point, aside from advising parents to consider turning the channel, was to be aware of how the world tries to push their kids to dress inappropriately by normalizing figure skating and gymnastics attire, and I disagreed with much of his message My parents and I discussed it on the drive home, and I mentioned how I thought it was harmful to send that message. My parents disagreed from a purity perspective because they taught purity to us when we turned twelve. I think it's harmful because purity should be a personal choice instead of something instilled by your parents when you're just hitting puberty. I also disagree with how the pastor sexualized both sports and absolved Nassar by blaming the outfits, but they didn't have an issue with it. Heck, a few of the pastor's points received applause (including from my parents), and the whole thing ruined my mood. My mom also plans to inform one of our cousins' parents (whose daughter does gymnastics) about the rule change in case she doesn't know. And while that's fine on its own, I disagree with her motives behind it The message shouldn't be that girls are responsible for the actions of those who sexualize them. They should wear shorts because they want to, not because they think they're doing something wrong by wearing appropriate clothing for the sport. I also felt the pastor was telling on himself and projecting onto the congregation, but my parents didn't see it that way. I helped them clean up for their guests when we returned, but left before the game as some guests began to filter in. My parents were disappointed and said it would've been better if I hadn't come at all, even though I'd helped set up. I'm more concerned with the message they told my brother and how Mom plans to relay it to my cousin. Needless to say, I'll never attend that church again, and I only did whenever I visited, like once a year. Does anyone have any experience with correcting a message from a parent that might be harmful to a younger sibling? Update Post: (February 13th, 2026) My father called me for the first time since we spoke on Sunday at their home, and he had the same tone as his text. He said it was disrespectful of me to leave early when they let me sleep over despite helping them set up. He also said he didn't appreciate having to tell guests why I left early, and he said he made up some excuse. I reiterated my disgust for the sermon and how they supported it. And in hindsight, I should've walked out and waited in the foyer. Granted, I couldn’t drive home because we carpooled, but I'm disappointed that I didn't. However, since the church encourages viewers to share their videos in the descriptions of their YouTube sermons and on social media, I decided to vent my frustration that way using malicious compliance. I left a review of the church that explained why I'll never attend again. I also mentioned how the pastor defended Larry Nassar and left a link to the sermon, along with a timestamp to when his rant began. The link will prove the truth of my review. And if they delete the video, it'll only make it louder (when the link leads to a page that says 'deleted video'). I also made an Instagram story about my disgust for the sermon and left a link to the YouTube sermon there too, and many of my friends have also told me their similar disgust I've lost almost all of my respect for my parents, but that's nothing new unfortunately. I was debating cutting them off when I was in high school, but figured that going to college would provide space that'd help prevent that. I was wrong, but I shouldn't have been surprised. Them finding no issue with the pastor's rant is par for the course of how they still support a certain someone with strong ties to a certain list, and much of my teen years were annoying because of their obsession with that figure. They also loved it when our pastor got political in the past, and that's not what church should be. I return for one sermon simply because of my parents' home rule, and he spins the Winter Olympics into a rant defending Larry Nassar. It's always some new demographic every week with these people, and Sunday was a reminder of why I don't miss church As a result of me not apologizing, Dad said I'm not allowed to come to next year's party, and that's totally fine with me. The other unfortunate part is that Mom talked to my cousin's mom about the sermon, and she agreed with much of it and said her daughter would be required to wear shorts over her uniform going forward because she was unaware that she could. Again, nothing wrong with deciding to wear them. But the message shouldn't be that women are responsible for creeps like my pastor who admitted to being unable to appreciate a sport because his mind is fixated on sex. I don't get why certain Christians like my parents are hyperfixated on it like with purity. My cousin's parents are also Christians, and they agreed with turning the channel from figure skating too. They'll probably do the same with gymnastics in two years, and my church (along with others I've researched) have had females wear t-shirts over their bathing suits at church gatherings with a pool, and I've attended parties with that rule since I was little. That doesn’t stop them from going to the beach where others aren't wearing t-shirts over their bathing suits, but you could go down the hypocrisy rabbit hole forever, and I'm ready to go low-contact. I won't be attending Christmas or Thanksgiving or any other gatherings they have. Granted, it sucks for my younger brother, but I need to worry about my own mental health first ________________ (Comments) (davegammelgard): "What's actually happening is that the pastor is normalizing adult men being creeps and lusting after young girls. This is the way purity culture has worked for hundreds of years - girls are expected to be pure because men can't control themselves. It's not just true in Christianity, but also in Islam, and other cultures. This attitude is harmful to everyone because it reinforces that idea that "boys will be boys" and won't be held accountable, while girls are held responsible for what men do to them. They're "asking for it" if they dress a certain way or behave a certain way. Men need to be taught self control and responsibility. That's the real answer" (Chaoticallyorganized) replied: "This is exactly what it is. No normal man watches figure skating or gymnastics with sexual thoughts towards underage girls. This pastor is unquestionably a disgusting human being and not safe to be around" (exretailer_29): "If you read different sources on Larry Nassar he was sexually molesting all age females from 6-20. So it wasn't all about what some females wore. It was about power and Control and some deep seated evil that drove Larry Nassar. How can a "6-8" year old dress in an inappropriate manner? The onus was always on Larry Nassar. A female could be fully covered up and if someone has evil intentions it doesn't matter what outfit is being worn. It doesn't have to be just Larry Nassar it can be anyone who perceives the victim as being someone they can overpower or take advantage of. Many religious authorities do project their own misguided sexual feelings and I think that is a defence mechanism on their part. The pastor is wrong and I think your parents are too!" submitted by /u/MadisonBrave to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

AITAH for refusing to "cover up" in front of my roommates?
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/AwayIngenuity8966 Originally posted to r/AITAH AITAH for refusing to "cover up" in front of my roommates? Thanks to u/queenlegolas for suggesting this BoRU Trigger Warnings: manipulation, body shaming, bullying, misogyny Original Post: December 8, 2025 Throw away because my roommates have my other account. I (21F) live with two male roommates. I get it is kind of a weird dynamic for most people but it works for us! We had been living together before both of them got gfs, also I have had a bf for 4 years who is good friends with my roommates. I have never had issues with their gfs, even though they are at my place at least 5 days a week. But they mostly keep to their bfs rooms and they are truly nice people so it doesn't really bother me that much. The problem started about 5 months after we had been living together. I guess at some point both of their gfs got together to discuss what I have been wearing around the apartment. They confronted me without my roommates one afternoon, saying they would prefer I cover up when I leave my room because it makes everyone in the house really uncomfortable. I asked them to explain what I am wearing that makes them uncomfortable, to which they responded that they have yet to see me in an appropriate outfit... Now, valid concerns for the most part, but let me give some more context. I NEVER wear anything inappropriate out of my room, I get changed in the bathroom after showers and am ALWAYS fully covered when I leave my room. I wear baggy t-shirts and hoodies with sweat pants 90% of the time. The most scandalous thing I have worn is a tank top and shorts (not see through at all, and with a bra if that matters?). My shorts cover my ass completely and go to about mid thigh btw. All of this to say, my outfits would pass a high school dress code. Not to hype myself up, but I am blessed with a fat ass. Which I genuinely think is the biggest problem... The first time they brought it up, I made a point of only wearing sweatpants out of my room (not shorts). However, they brought it up AGAIN. They said "I thought we talked about your outfits, it makes us really uncomfortable. How would your bf feel about you dressing like this in front of other men.". This is where I was confused. I explain that I thought I was being respectful and more considerate of their wishes despite this being my apartment. They said I was not a true "girls girl" and that I was just waiting to "snatch their bfs". I replied with "It is not my fault you guys are insecure about your relationships, and I have done more than enough to make sure you guys are comfortable in my home. Your bfs have said nothing to me so I think you are being over dramatic. This is my apartment, you guys aren't on the lease, you are already here significantly more than what is allowed according to our lease. So I would tread lightly about making demands about how I can dress in MY apartment." They both said that I was full of myself and that their bfs would not sign a lease with me again. Funny though, after I talked to their bfs alone they had no idea what had happened and they still planned to resign the lease with me. I think it is crazy that they felt the need to gang up on me and try to dictate what I can wear in my own home. I would understand if I was dressing a little scandalous but I truly am not. How do I navigate this situation and am I the asshole?? EDIT: since way more people saw it than I thought would, and this is easier than answering comments. First, my roommates are angels and since I introduced them they have become really close to my bf (who does not live with us btw, Ik that seems weird but its just how things work out lol). So no, I am not looking for new roommates. As for my roommates apparently not resigning the lease with me (according to their gfs): my roommates had no idea why their gfs would say that and we are literally in the process of resigning the lease now. The gfs have not been over since the last conversation I have had with them. So about 5 days, which is very abnormal for them. According to one of my roommates, I scared his gf a little bit after they confronted me. So ig me standing up for myself and not caving into their delusions scared them a little bit? So I have yet to have another interaction with them, but apparently they are both coming over tonight... People wondering about what the gfs wear: significantly less clothing than I do, that's for sure! But they are basically supermodel thin, so societally it is more acceptable for them to dress less modestly. Not that I agree, but society is messed up. Ok so here is how the conversation with my roommates went yesterday: I asked them if they were resigning the lease and they said yes. They also did not know why their gfs talked to me instead of talking to them. I asked if they had problems with how I dress around the house to which they replied "You look homeless"... thanks? (that is our humour). I also mentioned how much their gfs were at our apartment. For context, our rent includes everything except for wifi, so them being here doesn't make it more expensive for me. I said that I don't mind them being here that much since they usually keep to themselves. But I draw the line at making me feel uncomfortable in my own home. I also told them that if their gfs confront me about a problem with our my roommates present, I will not hesitate to ask them to leave. My roommates were great about it and had no issues with anything I said. They are planning on talking to their gfs. Let me know if you want an update about how the gfs interact with next time I see them! Not sure when I will see them next though. AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP was unanimously the NTA Relevant Comments Commenter 1: They are jealous because you are hot lol Honestly tho ask them what they even want you to wear?? I’m not sure how you can even be more “modest”! OOP: What's crazy though is they are for sure more attractive than me, I just have an ass going for me lmao. Commenter 2: It sounds like you've been thoughtful. FWIW, though, depending on your activities and cultural norms, sports bras and booty shorts aren't necessarily disrespectful. In my area (a hot climate), many people wear sports bras and booty shorts all over campus when exercising or walking. If one is a dancer, that's pretty much the uniform. While my kids tend to be slightly more conservative than their peers, an occasional crop top and shorts (usually not booty unless exercising) is not out of the question. OOP: As a former dancer, I am dressing quite conservative to how I used to! They have yet to see me on my way to or from the gym, which I think would send them into a spiral. How dare I wear shorts and tank tops to gym?! Their bfs may be there! LOL Commenter 3: I wear baggy t-shirts and hoodies with sweatpants 90% of the time. The most scandalous thing I have worn is a tank top and shorts NTA Even if you were wearing booty shorts and sports bras all day, every day, you'd still be NTA as it's your home, too. They can get over themselves. OOP: I personally think I have been more than respectful. And you're right, I should be able to wear whatever I want in my own home regardless of what it is! OOP on if her roommates have told their GFs about her appearance OOP: I really doubt their bfs/my roommates would say anything about my appearance to them. We have a sibling dynamic and they are very good friends with my bf now Downvoted Commenter: I don't think you're the asshole. I think that if a girl knows her bf is living with another girl she should accept all the possibilities and understand that she isn't there to moderate what you're saying, doing, and wearing. But as the female roommate you also need to understand that even though you're doing nothing wrong, the girls have valid reason to worry- not because of you but because of the nature of the living situation. All parties need to be more understanding. No one is an asshole. The gfs just need to understand that if they're gonna continue to date these men, they have to accept that they cant control what goes on in the apartment. OOP: Yea I get that. But they knew the situation prior to dating and I'm not going to change what I do simply because they want to control what I do in my home. The gfs are definitely assholes here as I have done nothing for to not have their trust. Update: December 10, 2025 (two days later) UPDATE: AITAH for refusing to "cover up" in front of my roommates? GF RESPONSES So, the gfs came back yesterday and we had a house meeting. Some clarifying information: I got comments about the timeline and the post being fake... The last incident where the gfs confronted me was a week ago at this point. The conversation I had with my roommates was 3 days ago. I made the post because I knew the gfs would be coming back soon so I wanted some advice. Also, it is very "normal" for the gfs to be at the apartment when my roommates are not, which is why my roommates did not know they talked to me until I told them. And, I in no way was trying to say the gfs were not attractive or "too thin", I was simply trying to point out that me being more curvy (I'm a size 8 and pretty short, rather than 0 and taller like them) could make outfits seems more inappropriate even though they aren't. I WILL NOT BE POSTING OR SENDING PHOTOS OF MYSELF. stop asking, y'all are weird and I suggest you go to a special website (🌽) to deal with that. Ok on to the main part! One of the gfs came over first for simplicity let's call her Mya. She approached me while I was in the kitchen cooking and said she wanted to talk about the whole situation. I politely said that this a conversation that needs to happen when her bf is here so we can wait til he is home. She was a little confused but just ended up going to his room. I then messaged my roommate group chat and asked for the 5 of us to have a chat later once everyone is here. Which my roommates said sounds good. I heard them all come home, and at some point the other gf (we will call her Sara) came over but I'm not sure when. So I went to the living room wearing my XL Grinch onsie, don't worry it covered my ankles so there was no way I could be dressing provocatively. My roommates thought this was hilarious, the gfs not so much. We all sat down for a conversation. It was very awkward lol. I started off by saying that it is not fair for anyone to dictate what goes on in our apartment if they are not paying rent. I explained that if Mya or Sara had an issue with me, I would appreciate that my roommates bring it up to me and that there should not be a confrontation between me and the gfs. My roommates backed me up and said they thought this was fair and they apologized for their gfs (not necessary but nice gesture). Both gfs stayed silent the entire time but Sara rolled her eyes every time I talked. I addressed Sara and asked if there was anything she would like to talk about to which she just went off on me. Saying I am too controlling about cleaning and buying things for the apartment (which has nothing to do with her) and that I "prance around on my high horse in skimpy clothes". I asked her what I could possibly be wearing that is skimpy and she said "you walk around with everything on display". Her bf stepped in and said he disagreed and that they have never seen me in anything inappropriate so she shouldn't have a problem. She got really offended and said that he was an ass for defending me and not her. I told her she was free to leave if she has issues with our home or the people in it. She stormed off into his room and started packing her things up. As for Mya, she just broke down crying saying she didn't mean to upset me and that Sara brought up the issue to her to confront me. She said she didn't really care about what I was wearing and didn't really see any problems with it but Sara got into her head. Mya was overall not a huge issue from the start, Sara did most of the confronting and Mya just backed her up with some nods, but didn't really add to the conversations. I told her that she should have had more of a back bone with Sara and stood up for me rather than helping Sara confront me if she didn't see a problem. She said she wanted to work on our relationship and was hoping we could become friends despite all of this. Not sure where I stand on that, but I guess it's the thought that counts. Sara and my roommate had a huge argument that lasted almost an hour. Then she left the apartment completely with all her stuff. I asked my roommate what was going on and he said he thinks things are over with Sara, but nothing official yet. Anyways, not sure if that's how you all thought it would go down. Overall, I feel much better about the situation and Im hoping I don't have to deal with Sara again! Thanks for the support and advice! Relevant Comments OOP on if her roommate is going to stay with Mya or not since Sara has left? OOP: I think that breakup is coming sooner than she thinks.... I don't think it will last into the new year at this point + Looks like both roommates are gonna be single in the new year after all of this, but I swear they attract the craziest women so we can only pray. I would love to have a built in bestie though lol How did the GFs get in the apartment if the bfs/roommates were not home? OOP: ok allegedly they "didn't have keys", which was BS cause they get in when bfs are not there. then it was confirmed Sara had a key because she threw it at my roommate on her way out apparently. I told them they aren't allowed to give out keys (that was the only copy they made) I already changed our code though so she can't get into the apartment. She's crazy, but not that crazy. I also added a ring doorbell so she can try all she wants + Never really discussed any house rules about it until recently. My bf is only over when I am home, that just seems like common sense to me? But my roommates have invited my bf over when I wasn't there but I think that is completely different, because at that point he is my roommates guest. Downvoted Commenter: you shouldn't agree to that. people make mistakes. and she owned up to it. if you can't move past it you're being as childish as sara tbh. like okay maybe you end up as friends and maybe you don't, but to just close the door on it because of what happened, that is kinda pathetic. like don't go out of your way to be her friend, but don't go out of your way not to be her friend either. just see what happens. no need to carry a grudge. in the grand scheme of things what happened is so minor. don't be a baby. OOP: It not that I can't move past it, it's just that I don't want to be friends with someone like that. It isn't childish to want to have good people around me. I have no problems being friendly, and I have been even during this situation but I will not force myself to be friends with someone that acts like that. Commenter 1: What does your lease say about overnight guests? How often does your boyfriend stay? It sounds like you and your roommates need to clarify the guest policy. OOP: The lease is very strict about guests, no more than two nights each month. Im ok being more relaxed about it, within reason. there is also no way to tell how long guests are staying. My bf has stayed MAYBE 4 nights in the last 5 months. But regardless, we have already had that conversation, I will see how things go after the holidays and adjust from there! Commenter 1: Being relaxed resulted in this situation. There’s nothing wrong with saying you need new boundaries after this incident. Keeping guest visits to when the resident is home and limiting overnights is not unreasonable. Someone packing a bag and staying for multiple nights is incredibly intrusive. OOP: Agreed, we agreed on two nights per week (with Mya, def not Sara) which I think is reasonable. Why isn't OOP living with her boyfriend? OOP: Hard to explain, but the short of it is that he lives in a different city for a specialty program. Neither of us want to commute to school or work, so this is just easier until graduation. Commenter 2: I'm curious of what Mya wanted to say when she approached you in the kitchen to talk about the whole situation. I don't think you need to be friends, but maybe there's a chance she realized prior to the house meeting that Sara was being unreasonable and wanted to address it 1:1 to get a sense of how you were feeling, especially since she seemed confused when you said you wanted to wait until her bf was home. I still agree that she should have had more of a back bone, though I don't see her as a villain or anything (she might just be a people pleaser). Regardless, I'm glad your roommates backed you up and your update was refreshing to read! OOP: I think her bf talked to her about the situation beforehand. But since I wasn't sure how that conversation was going to go I wanted a witness so she couldn't twist what I said DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Cmv: Feminism has fallen short on inclusion of men, and it would have better outcomes if it did
For context, I’m a woman. I define feminism as “equality between the sexes/genders”. This is the goal, and for the purposes of my argument, outcomes are measured in terms of achieving that goal. I define “the patriarchy” as the system that upholds gender role division. Important to note that I feel that even though the patriarchy gives men advantage in many situations, it also sometimes puts them at a disadvantage in some specific contexts (I’ll explain more below). EDIT: When I say feminists, I mean all people - women and men - who say they support gender equality. I think many people assume that I mean feminists (as women) who are the most active and progressive ones. I think there are certainly many active progressive feminists who don’t miss any of the points below. However I think a lot of people who call themselves feminists or try to promote things under a feminist agenda often do miss the points below. I’m not discrediting them as feminists for this. I think ‘a feminist’ should be a very inclusive term and all of us feminists might make mistakes and do anti-feminist things at times, and it is a constant process of improving and learning. I don’t expect all feminists to be perfect. That’s what I mean by fallen short. There are certainly many feminists who don’t fall short, but our numbers have not been great enough in society to make significant changes on these points yet. How has feminism excluded men? Feminism has highlighted the difference in how we socialize and stereotype men and women (and that’s been good), but it has mainly only focused on breaking those stereotypes and socializations in women, and men have largely been left out of the picture. For example, via feminism, society has worked to correct how we socialize young women and girls. They are now encouraged to play sports, be doctors and scientists; they can play with blocks, toy stethoscopes and are encouraged to read science books, and we’ve moved away (slightly) from giving them baby dolls and kitchen sets. They can wear pants, suit jackets, ties, etc. Boys, on the other hand, are largely still told to brush-it-off and not cry when they skin their knee, they’re given toy cars instead of baby dolls, and they’re taught to communicate in ways that assert their ambitions, make them seem confident and knowledgeable; they’re not taught to sense emotion in others, take turn in conversation, or meditate as much as women. They’re ostracized if they wear dresses, lace, frills, high heels, and make-up. I think some people feel that feminism is an area where exclusion of men of men is justified. But this is what I disagree with. Some have made me feel like I don’t know true “feminism”, or made me feel like what I’m talking about isn’t feminism. However, I think feminism (for the goal above) is about fighting the patriarchy. Minority movements should be about inclusion and not exclusion. Men are not to blame; it is the patriarchy to blame. Blaming men is unproductive to beneficial outcomes. The patriarchy has caused men to have an advantage, yes, and it has also caused men to have underdeveloped skills in some areas that cause things like: lack of intuition in communication (mansplaining etc.), lack of empathy, lack of competency in childcare and domestic tasks. Yes, these things are an annoyance to feminism, but are in many ways no fault of the men themselves, but rather how the patriarchy has socialized them and told them the ways in which they will be valuable to others. I think it is ironic when women complain about incompetent men but then turn around and enforce gender roles in their own children. I know that society pushes it unconsciously sometimes, but it makes me sad when people give me secondhand things for my sons, but they pull out their baby dolls and pink outfits thinking I don’t want them and hold onto them instead for a girl. I had a doll I used to play with when I was young. My mom hung onto it ‘for if I had a daughter someday’ but we gave it to my sons instead and they love it. Better outcomes can be achieved not by undercutting men in pursuing their best interests, but instead by correcting how boys are raised and socialized, encouraging them to feel and show empathy, to play with baby dolls and care for other children, do cooking and cleaning tasks, etc. They shouldn’t have their sexuality questioned or be shamed for wanting to explore purely aesthetic fashion choices like wearing dresses or heels, experimenting with make-up, etc. A few loose ends for me in how I think maybe my view can be opened up (haven’t fully sorted out my thoughts on these yet): compliance - men haven’t actively fought for these things like women have for theirs (at much to their advantage in some contexts) but at the same time doing so might have been seen as stealing the platform of feminism from women. Women-only spaces designed for protection against predatory men. I realize these exist and even utilize them myself (like a women-only train car) but I feel like these aren’t so much connected to the feminist movement and are rather something done to combat certain types of physical assault, and violations of privacy and also the accusations that go with them. (For example, people with disabilities and children can also use the train car). I’m also open to my view being opened up in other ways I’ve not anticipated yet. As many feminists seem to be exclusionary to men, I feel this might be evidence that I still have something to learn. I don’t think it should be done in a way that excludes people from the movement though. submitted by /u/irishtwinsons to r/changemyview [link] [comments]

Why do western tourists dress so weird?
I live in downtown Tokyo which sees a lot of tourists from all over the world, and when it comes to fashion I always see western (mainly white) tourists stand out. Africans, Asians and Middle Easterners will often wear clothes that are casual, but do not stand out, like long buttoned shirts, jeans etc. The women, especially those from Asia will look very fashionable with floral shirts, dresses, small practical bags etc. Then you look at the western tourists. They either wear outfits that look like they are going hiking in a tropical jungle, complete with oversized survival gear backpacks while doing city sightseeing, or they look like oversized toddlers in shorts, flip-flops and baseball caps. The elderly men usually spice things up by wearing a polo shirt. I have been to enough countries in Europe to know that this is not the normal casual wear, so why are they making themselves look so comical when they travel abroad? submitted by /u/Kawadane to r/TooAfraidToAsk [link] [comments]

AITA for refusing to dress like a background extra for a wedding I wasn’t even invited to?
TL;DR: Said yes to being a +1 for a wedding I wasn’t invited to. Just found out they expect guests to follow a pastel color palette and wear coordinated outfits. I backed out because I’m not spending money to dress like a beach-themed accessory. AITA? A few weeks ago, I begrudgingly agreed to be my friend Ethan’s +1 to a wedding for some guy we went to high school with (not someone I’ve kept in touch with or ever expected to see again). The wedding’s in early June—still about 3 weeks out—and it’s happening on some island off the coast of Massachusetts. We’re staying at a resort in Salem. I don’t love weddings, traveling without my own transportation stresses me out, and I was already pushing it by saying yes. This week, Ethan tells me we “have to go suit shopping.” I’m confused—why? I already own a black suit. I’m a +1, not part of the wedding party. Turns out the couple sent out a literal color palette for guests to dress in—pale grays, taupes, and soft pastels. They “encourage” everyone to stick to the scheme. No warning, no heads-up. Just a full-on vibe control memo like we’re extras on a movie set. Ethan wanted us in matching light gray suits with pastel blue or green ties. I’m sorry, but I wear black, navy, maroon… maybe beige if I’m feeling wild. That’s it. I’m not about to spend money on a pastel-tied suit for a wedding I wasn’t even actually invited to. I told him to cancel my +1 because I’m not going anymore. Now he’s annoyed, saying I’m bailing last minute and making him look bad because people were expecting me. He left me on read and said he would “talk to me when I was willing to be reasonable.” We’ve been friends since Freshman year of high school and have talked pretty much every day since (we’re 28 & 29 now). But like… I didn’t agree to be a prop in someone else’s wedding photo aesthetic. I’m a guest of a guest. The wedding is still 22 days out. Surely he can find another +1 who’s down to dress like a decorative macaron. AITA? Edit to clarify a few common questions: • No, Ethan and I are not dating. We’re just longtime friends—nothing romantic. • I mistakenly said “resort.” It’s actually a boutique hotel in Salem, not a full resort. Im not super keen on the details (obviously) and that’s my bad. • I found out about the color palette just yesterday (3 weeks before the wedding, 4 weeks after I agreed to go). Ethan admitted he knew about it earlier but didn’t bring it up because, quote, “I knew you’d be difficult about it.” • Renting a suit isn’t really an option because the color scheme is super specific, and I’m not interested in investing time or money into looking like a decorative macaron. They not only sent out exact colors to be worn, but advised on which store to get them from. • Why I agreed to go in the first place: I didn’t realize this would be a high school reunion vibe, and I thought Ethan might not know anyone else there. Now that I know he does—and seeing the whole vibe—I wouldn’t have said yes if I’d known upfront. • No, I don’t own a beige suit. I was just making a point that I stick to a pretty narrow range of clothing colors: black, navy, maroon, and yeah—maybe beige once in a blue moon. My current formal lineup is two black suits and a black tux. Appreciate the chaos and the feedback—y’all are as entertaining as you are opinionated. 🥂 Final Update – A Peace Treaty Was Signed Well Reddit, here’s how it ended up: Ethan and I talked it out like grown men (and best friends who occasionally gamble each other’s money). I explained where I was coming from, he explained why it mattered to him. Long story short: we found a middle ground. He covered the cost of the outfit and accommodations, and I agreed to show up as his +1. No drama, no hard feelings—just two idiots in coordinating suits trying to survive a beachfront wedding with pastel suggestions. Would I have chosen this on my own? Absolutely not. But sometimes friendship means sweating it out—literally and figuratively. And hey, at least the shoes are black. Thanks for the chaos, the judgments, the wardrobe advice, and the surprisingly passionate debates about dress codes. You’ve been wildly entertaining. submitted by /u/djsavoy to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

What type of outfits do men *actually* like on women?
This is a general question and I do acknowledge everyone is different. I’m asking this in the sense of what the average person would want. I’ve been trying to get out and meet real people instead of using dating apps but it hasn’t been easy. No one talks to me, I get compliments from other women but nothing from men. It wasn’t always like this, I used to dress completely different it was easy to date IRL. During college I dressed like a typical carefree young person. I could meet men in social spaces almost everytime I went out. Now 2 years after graduating I dress more conservative. I don’t wear crop tops, tiny shorts ect. I’m more stylish and put together now. But I get zero interest from the opposite sex. I know people say “quality over quantity” but it feels like that doesn’t matter If you can’t get a single date. I like how I dress now but it feels like a hindrance to my love life. It doesn’t feel worth it if men are attracted to the exact opposite because I do want to be in a relationship submitted by /u/Christina_the_Latina to r/AskMen [link] [comments]

AITAH for dressing too “straight” and making my gf uncomfortable?
UPDATE: Hi everyone. It’s been over a week since I’ve posted this and I literally cannot believe this blew up like this. Thanks so much for helping me, it’s helped tremendously. For everyone concerned for me, don’t worry. I’ll be completely fine and me and my (now ex) gf have broken up and gone no contact. I have a really good mom and best friend who have been here for me and we’ve all read almost all 6,000 comments on here. Thanks so much from a stranger on the internet submitted by

Men’s rave outfits?
Looking to get my husband some interesting rave gear to wear, he’s been limited to some t-shirts and shorts and I wanted to get him something fun. Men’s outfits are usually far less creative. I’m not opposed to some cool tshirts but I would like something unique for him. Edit: I got some cool stuff, thanks everyone! submitted by /u/thisisvegas to r/aves [link] [comments]

If men didn't exist I would wear slutty outfits all the time
I tend to love dresses as soon as it's warm out enough to wear them, even if it's 55 degrees as the high I'll just wear a jean jacket or nice denim shirt or cardigan sweater type thing over my shoulders. I wear them for trips to the grocery store, walking the dog, errands, just about anything. I love sporty dresses like those from Patagonia, Carve Designs, and Prana but I also love pretty feminine dresses from Lulu's and Billabong and Free People too. Give me lace, silk, cut out strappy backs, short skirts, ruffles, flower prints, halter tops, all of it I love to wear. I rashly ordered a very short "romper" style outfit a few days ago and it fits like a dream and I love the color. As I was admiring myself in the mirror I realized though that I will never be able to wear it in public. The back is cut down to my waist, the shorts are pretty damn short, and the bodice is all lacey. It's a downright slutty ass piece, albeit very comfortable to move in. I DO NOT wear clothes for men, I wear them for me. I absolutely hate being cat called. Now I am not traditionally attractive, and I'm well over 40 these days so I'm officially old, so I've generally escaped men's attention for the most part, which I prefer...but when I'm alone I've noticed that men will yell at me or talk to me when I'm wearing a more revealing dress and I really hate it. When I'm with a man it doesn't happen and I feel safer...which I hate as well because I'd like to wear what the hell I want without worrying about my safety or being self conscious about being yelled at or followed. IDK. There's a big misconception that women dress for attention. Now I know that some women do and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I wish the world was different though, I wish women didn't have to worry about being harassed based on what kind of outfit they decide to put on that day. Hell, I mean I can see the attention thing applying to a certain place and venue, like a club or something. Approach away. But when I'm just outside walking my dog or walking across a parking lot I really don't like being yelled at or stared at. I fucking can't stand it. Men can walk around without their shirts on but if part of my back is showing it's an invitation to bother me for some reason. And now I'm not sure I'll be able to wear my pretty new outfit. Maybe when I'm 70 and truly invisible lol. Just had to rant. This world is annoying. submitted by /u/samsaraisdivine to r/AskWomenOver30 [link] [comments]

Kpop Men Just Aren't Dressing Like Horrible Little Freaks Anymore, Or The REAL Y2K: To Pleather, Maximalism, and Over the Top Matching Outfits, With Love
We used to be a proud country. Hair was vertical or plastered over a kpop man's eyes. Eyeliner was an inch thick. Everything was reflective. Colorful skinny jeans. Matching prince costumes. The sheer unbearable hatred of what they were wearing fueled a generation of dramatic men. It was beyond words. Because if there was one thing the 2nd/early 3rd gen of kpop understood, it was that the glory of the game (kpop is inherently maximalist) is to be just so much. or, riddle me this - if Y2K is trendy again, why is nobody dressing like Tri-Angle, hmm? we're just not calling men Maximum Changmin anymore and making them go out in public like That. Before we begin, I must make some things clear: anyone who lived through the 2000s and was vaguely conscious knows that real Y2K fashion would kill a TikTok eboy instantly because so much of that shit was just so ugly Y2K can be maximalist but something being maximalist is NOT inherently Y2K bad maximalist styling is out there! a good stylist knows how to dig into the concept and make everything about from costume to set design to song come together or like, it was 2011 and we were all just on something I'm literally just throwing together all the OTT fashion I miss and those still fighting the good fight into this post sorry I clickbaited you about Y2K I unironically, hand-on-heart, dead-serious, think all styling in this post is good And you can quote me on that! And now, the OTT styling we DESERVED: TVXQ, Tri-Angle: the Mother. the OG. the legend herself. every photograph of them in normal lighting is like getting punched in the face. the feathered eyeliner, the lowslung belts with their names on them, Changmin' hair, the way it's so cohesive and futuristic because they are the Rising Gods of the East.... can Jaejoong stop his 4th gen boy styling mid-life crisis and start growing his hair out again also here's a beloved ancient photograph of Yunjae date to a Shrek event Rain, It's Raining: why are you as a man wearing slutty low-rise jeans 2006 Changmin rat-tail and plastic outfits that's all TVXQ, Choosey Lover 3rd Tour: skintight silver reflective jumpsuits with sex harnesses, knee high boots, and Yunho's stupid little ponytail.....dare I say gender.... SHINee, Lucifer: the 2022 motorsports pit girl styling will never have what Lucifer had. Jonghyun's backless tops and cowboy boots, the spikes and feathers. cut-out everything. SHINee were riding beside Fast & Furious Devon Aoki while every 4th gen boy is only fit to pump her tires! beloved shaved Kibum head picture..... this one stage of 2PM's Without You + I'll Be Back.... speechless.... MBLAQ, Oh Yeah: Seungho's half-sleeve cut-out tattoo suit I want you.... every stylist from 2008-2013 just always had a pair of scissors and she was without mercy. Teen Top, Supa Luv: why have one 2nd gen bowlcut when you can give it to all of them?? B1A4, Beautiful Target: there used to be Pann posts about how B1A4's stylist was an anti. the muppet fur Jinyoung is wearing here. the glow-in-the-dark catboy looks. platinum coconut Baro. every stage was a religious experience I hope their stylist knows she changed all our lives. face suits....camp MBLAQ, Cry: the eyeliner has to be this thick again if we're bring Y2K back Nu'est, Action: they just don't dress men like this in their debut year anymore. every rip and tear in the fabric symbolized their pain. Big Bang, Fantastic Baby: that one kpop song they kept putting in videos to go "omg they dress so weird in kpop" and then YG took it to heart and now every man under that company just wears jeans and a tee shirt in everything. hate it here. EXO, MAMA: oh you thought I'd put Wolf like some cheap clown looking for a laugh, hmm? we already know Wolf absolutely fucks, we need to start talking about how MAMA's rhinestone jackets and two-toned fringes were peak 2012 realness. the infamous EXO trip to Disneyland. always one kpop man wearing the ratty white tank top. Jo Kwon, Animal: do you think everyone there understood the accessories were from BDSM Infinite, The Chaser: the girls lost it out over long-haired Sungyeol back in the day and they were right!! the floral scarf print suits, the hanging skirts and sleeveless blazers, Sungjong's transparent shorts over his pants....we lost our way when we started putting Infinite in sweaters and jeans on stage, they have to wear the custom-matchy outfits always!! Dongwoo airport fashion when kpop men wore nothing but snapbacks in every photo Boyfriend, Janus: we need the fantasy prince matching costumes that took 30 minutes to put on again.... also the silly little capes from this one Witch stage Nu'est, Sleep-Talking: their quirky boy era where they wore pajama and bohemian inspired clothes. they had Minhyun wear cut-out shirts to expose his fake tattoos. Ren's Coachella white girl headbands. Baekho didn't have eyebrows. and it still flopped!! MyName, Baby I'm Sorry: Gunwoo's skirt over jeggings, so me-coded (I don't wish to talk about it) VIXX, On & On: if you're gonna put a kpop man in matching suits, it's got to be interesting! honestly this was largely saved by the hair & makeup but i did like the suit patterning and medals HYDE black lipstick I love you SHINee, Dream Girl: no one gets kitsch like SHINee gets the kitsch. the era of the skinniest little suit pants, floral everything, short blazers, this was doing the numbers on tumblr dot com (not that i know anything about that). Taemin pencil pants I think of you often Junsu, Tarantallegra: the leopard print pointed shoulder pads suit...the red dress black over the knee leather boots and blonde emo fringe....the corset.... (also, Flower) Shinhwa, This Love: brought vogue into mainstream kpop while serving cunt in every OTT patterned suit. 100%, Beat: we were entering truly the 3rd gen era of the matching custom suits but by god did the stylists get it instead of some boring classy fits. the half-dozen belts, the leather texturing, the FANTASY ARMOR they wore on stage??? tortured fantasy men who wail, we need you back. Nu'est, Overcome but only Ren's hair. it needs it's own bulletpoint. NCT 127, Firetruck: Mark Lee is literally a belieber he will never understand how good this was Kangta, Eyes On You: there's a certain comedy in putting actual 90s idol Kangta in late 90s fashion in 2022. Time is a flat circle because if you turned this down to 144p it looks like it's from 1999. Honourable mentions Hanse (Victon), Take Over: it's so hard to be the 4th gen It Boy when you are 25 years old and debuted in the 3rd gen. love a giant over-sized fit with a bob cut, and denim on denim with wig. OnlyOneOf Junji helmet hair: it speaks for itself really CIX, Bad Dream: Korea went feral over Bae Jinyoung's tiny head and this stage said what if we put him in a stupid 2000s floppy hat to look even tinier. also Hyunsuk in a giant pucca shell necklace E'Last, Dark Dream: convinced they found a stylist who'd worked with an early 3rd gen group because their styling is straight out of 2013 fantasy cheap velvet and dollar store lamé boy group (also, Kingdom in their polyester French royalty fits from this year....same energy). Blitzers, Will Make a Mistake: i have not seen this kind of neon clashing denim patternwork in years ....and these animal print clashing pants and hoodies? big 2012 quirky circus boy energy Woo Jinyoung (D1CE), Happy Birthday: if you watched MixNine all the way through congratulations, you and I both wasted our lives. but at least we found him! this leopard print suit and the gold lamé paints and white suit jacket are straight from 2000s MTV Xdinary Heroes, Happy Death Day: pastel plaid on plaid on plaid JYPE stylist you finally got something right!! TAN, Du Du Du: the matching suits based off a limited colour palette are literally 2nd gen which is only right because they have 2 old gen idols (Jaejun and Changsun) Verivery, Undercover: the cunty silk tracksuit look is missing only the words "Juicy" directly across Dongheon's ass Ateez, Guerilla: i try to use the honorable mentions for smaller groups I love, but I can't not mention the incredibly well-executed Y2K skate punk influence all over the styling here Bonus: Woodz as "guy in 2004 who still isn't over the Matrix" And finally, a staging I literally never want back but I think everyone must see because I had to: the Infinite Michael Jackson-inspired Come Back Again stage including Sunggyu's shaved head, L in a fedora (remember when every kpop boy wore a fedora), and dollar store striped socks. Ah, 2010.... Fashion has changed drastically both inside and outside kpop, with 2014 bringing the rise of normcore in fashion that SHINee would utilize for 2015's View to huge influence across the industry. Fans now throw fits over idols not looking luxurious and "aesthetic", but maybe we need to remember that stage outfits....are stage outfits. Look a little ugly. Make a facial expression. Remember that the glory of the game is that you are dancing and screaming your heart out on stage to flashing lights and theatre sets and melodrama and by god you are going to be remembered. Just....don't bring back the fedora. I hope you all enjoyed this journey down memory lane. Catch me in another unhinged post! What are your favorite old looks from kpop? Favorite OTT new ones? Did you wear low-rise jeans or oversized denim in the 2000s? Have you listened to The Chaser by Infinite today? submitted by /u/happymoon9 to r/kpopthoughts [link] [comments]

AITA for enforcing a country club’s dress code and not changing my venue?
I’m getting married in February at a county club my fiancé’s parents belongs to. The club has a strict dress code in their dining area, even for events. Jacket, ties and slacks/khakis for men, dresses or slacks/khakis and a blouse for women. Kids are dresses, slacks and nice shirts, no logos. I put this on the save the date in case it’d be an issue. Keep in mind, it’s not a rule I created. My younger sister is in college, and her standard outfit is basketball shorts and a t-shirt. I told her she didn’t have to wear a dress but slacks or khakis and a nice top. She told me no. I said it was strictly enforced. She said she didn’t care. I told her that it’d mean a great deal to me and I could help her find something comfy. She still refused. I asked why this was so important and she said she thinks dress codes are stupid and she’s not conforming. In the end after constant back and forth, she said she’s not coming. I said that really upset me. We’re very close and I wanted her there. My mom says I should just change the venue. I told her we can’t with how close the wedding is. My in-laws paid for it and they’d lose their deposit. She told me then I should ask for an exception to be made. The club said no. My mom says I’m forgetting my roots to impress my “fancy” in-laws.
