finally did a wavy hair routine after treating my hair like it was straight for years
I’ve been treating my hair like it’s straight for my whole life, and I used to dry brush it resulting in it being super frizzy. I finally tried a wavy hair routine and I’m kind of satisfied with my hair now. Here’s my routine: - Oiling (rosemary+tea tree+ coconut oil on scalp and ends, also jojoba oil on ends) - double shampoo - conditioner - leave in conditioner -curl cream - gel -mousse I feel like I could still improve. So any advice would be appreciated. submitted by /u/Acceptable_Talk396 to r/Haircare [link] [comments]

I think it’s time, isn’t it?
I’ve been debating on posting this, might delete later. But I need confidence on going bald. I know my time is coming. I’m also tired of putting my hair in a ponytail, having to do combovers to cover the baldness coming (3rd pic), and my receding hairline is just getting worse. It’s insane, my hair is extremely thick on the sides and in the very back of my head, but almost perfectly just on top, it’s bald, thinning and getting worse. I’ve tried argon oil, tea tree oils, and other various shampoos to help, and nothing has. Should I just bite the bullet and commit to a fully shaven head? I feel like I’d look like Kratos with how insane my beard has been getting over the years. submitted by /u/StonedTurtle420710 to r/bald [link] [comments]

TIFU by drinking pure tea tree oil
This all happened 2 days ago, but I decided to post it here anyway. I (M18), was at my grandparents place for a weekend. I had been dealing with some minor gum issues and had notified my grandma about it, as I knew she had battled gum issues in the past. She gave me a bottle of pure tea tree oil, suggested 3 drops in 150ml of water to rinse and spit out. IMPORTANTLY: SPIT OUT. I told her that I dont really taste anything so she told me to try 10 drops. After rinsing and spitting out, she decided to let me take the bottle home. The following night at home, I was doing the rinse and spit, when I got the clever thought that "Oh! Since its tea tree, safe to use for your mouth, (or so I thought), Im sure there are some health benefits of swallowing it". I ended up drinking 10 drops of pure tea tree oil dilluded with just 150ml of water, with the idea that it was a good idea cause I am a very dehydrated person anyway. In bed, right before putting the phone down, I decided to look up tea tree oil to see how healthy my choice had been. Upon googling it, I was told to rush to the hospital immediately. After walking to the hospital (its a 5 or 6 minute walk) I ended up being strapped down in a chair and being poked with needles. Then they rolled the chair in the back of an ambulance and we were headed for the city. They checked my blood pressure, heart rate and regularity, and blood sugar levels, all of which they said were textbook perfect. I was made to stay in a crowded fluorescent hospital hallway for 6 hours from 1-7am, and then I had to wait in a car for 30 minutes as we drove back to town where I could finally catch 5 hours of probably the worst sleep of my life. I luckily walked off fine though, with no lasting symptoms or anything. Also, concerning little extra. Some of my doctors had to use chatgtp to understand what tea tree oil was. TL;DR, drank 10 drops pure tea tree oil and ended up in the hospital. EDIT: To those who said going to the hospital was uneccesary - I had already called poison control and informed them. They urged me to seek medical attention immediately. Also, a lot of people are wondering why I didn't do my research. I usually do, but I didn't this time around. My grandmother is a well renowned gardener, and so I trusted her very well with what she was giving me. I did not think to do my own research at that time, and it was an honest mistake. We live, and we learn, and I certainly will not be putting essential oils anywhere near mouth again. EDIT 2: I know it's not grandma's fault. Thank you guys for correcting me on my blame shifting behavior. I'm not and wasn't ever mad at her for what happened. I've fully known this whole time that the fault is mine. Im just trying to look less like a dumbass. EDIT 3: Just removed some stuff that I regretted saying, cause I felt it didn't represent how I felt about the situation accurately. submitted by /u/SwaggedUp06 to r/tifu [link] [comments]

My co worker quite literally smells like death and I can’t stand it. It makes me SICK
I (25F) gave a co worker who is 60+ Male. He does not believe in modern medicine. I’m not quite sure the details but last year he got extremely sick and was basically going septic. Now he has Lymes disease and is diabetic but is seeking no treatment at all. He looks scary and quite literally looks like a dead man walking. A few years ago I experienced someone passing away in my home, and I will never forget the smell of “death” and my best friend who is a nurse also confirms that death had a smell. It may be different for everyone but death definitely has a smell. My coworker smells like what I smelt when that person passed away. And just knowing what the smell is makes me SICK. I literally cannot stand it. I have been trying to avoid him and I hold my breath whenever I do have to interact with him. My whole office is worried about him but also worried that we’re all gonna come in one day and he’s gonna be dead in his office. I feel bad but I am so disgusted by the smell. submitted by /u/Positive-Course-4005 to r/rant [link] [comments]

My wife rubbed tea tree oil on our dog
update3: Dog looks fine, nothing unusual. He's playful, hungry and excited about everything as usual. I think I avoided damage by washing him straight away, probably the dose wasn't too high too. Had a hard talk with the wife, obviously. She feels bad about it and understands this was reckless behavior. Thanks for the help, everybody. Sorry for not responding to everyone, I didn't expect it to blow up like this. Update2: I did a long bath together with him, lots of water, lots of shampoo. Didn't use dish soap because I didn't read it in the comments before heading to the shower. Again, used a lot of shampoo and water, so I hope it's ok. I called the vet hospital, but the guy who answered me didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about, he didn't even know what tea tree oil is. My main vet is not answering the emergency number for some reason. I guess I'm gonna white night it and look out for any signs, tomorrow I'm at the vet for a rabies shot anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: calling the emergency vet, thanks for the help, gonna update. Long story short, I told her to stop doing this stupid hippie shit, she did it anyway while I was out for 5 minutes. Rubbed him with this stuff and coconut oil too. I look for it online and find out she basically rubbed poison all over him. She wiped him with a wet towel, but his coat is still a bit oily. He was licking his legs and probably other parts before she wiped him. What should I do? Give him a shower? Take him to the emergency vet? Just keep an eye on him? It's 12AM, I won't notice if something happens to him while I sleep. submitted by /u/PsyVitus to r/DogAdvice [link] [comments]

Tea Tree Oil is a miracle! Seriously works!
The answer is Tea tree oil. Just post a sticky note and close down this sub. Absolutely a game changer. I get about 1 or 2 cold sores per year. One year I had 3 back to back and a total of 5 that year. They started in my early 20's. Usually appear on my lip (like the red meaty soft part) and if untreated will get huge and last 2 weeks. My triggers are: physical damage like a cut or lip pimple, sun exposure, and stress. Over the years I have tried all of the different ointments from the drug store: Abreva, ColdFX, Lysine, and a few others. If you get the stuff on when it first starts tingling, it might bring my heal time down to 10 days. I also started taking L-Lysine supplements whenever I feel one coming on or a risk of one. Last week we went on vacation and all of my triggers were triggered and I felt that familiar tingle. And I could see the first signs of the white blister forming. Frustrated, because we just started vacation, I decided to try something new that a read about on here: 100% Tea Tree Oil. I drip dropped a few drops on a tissue and held it where I felt the cold sore coming. Repeated this every few hours. It gave it a really wierd dry feeling.. But it stopped it dead. It never grew. 2 days later we were at the beach in the hot sun and I felt another sore coming on. There's no worse stress then sitting there in the sun and not being able to do anything about it for hours. I could feel it growing. Used the Tea Tree Oil on it too and stopped it dead! Used the Tea Tree Oil for a total of about 5 days, as many times a day as I could and neither grew. Couldn't believe it. They're totally gone now. It's a miracle. I did also start L-Lysine supplements on day 1: 6g (3 big 1000mg pills in the morning and 3 more at night). submitted by /u/starfoot- to r/Coldsore [link] [comments]

FINALLY….here is what I did for my Type 2 and Type 1 rosacea
These pictures were taken about 6 weeks apart. (I only showed my forehead Type 2 results in these pictures, but my cheeks that are more Type 1 looking had the same level of improvement). I’m so happy I could cry, I finally feel like I have my life back. After years and years of hating these pustules, spending tons of money on products, and countless hours researching how to fix the problem, I finally found what works for me. Here is what I did (and if you want to know what I tried that DIDN’T work, let me know and I will post about that in a separate comment). After learning from a new dermatologist that rosacea is usually caused from and over abundance of demodex mites, I focused on eradicating the mites. Here is my routine: In the morning- wash my face with Ovante Demodex mites face wash, then apply Ovante Demodex face cream (expense but worth it in my opinion, but probably any mite control face cream would do the trick if this is too expensive). Once that dries, apply Vanicream daily moisturizer for sensitive skin (make sure there are no fragrances in your moisturizer) At night- Wash my face with sulfur soap and apply Ivermectin triple rosacea cream. No moisturizer unless absolutely necessary (mites feed on oily skin when you sleep/ when it’s dark so I try not to moisturize at night) Every evening I take a fish oil capsule. This helps with inflammation. That’s all! It was so simple, just get rid of the mites! The hardest part was actually figuring out the root cause of the issue. Once I learned about the mites, it was all uphill from there. I just wish I would have learned about that sooner. If your skin looks like mine, I highly recommend that you consider that mites could be the issue. There are lots of other treatments besides the products I mentioned that I’m sure would work just as well! The main ingredients to look for are sulfur and tea tree oil. I know there is controversy about sulfur and tea tree oil causing rosacea flare ups, but in my experience that couldn’t be further from the truth! I hope this helps! submitted by /u/heidi1511 to r/Rosacea [link] [comments]

TIFU by putting tea tree oil on my pussy
I went to the bathroom and finished peeing. Afterward, I used the shataf (water hose thingy) to clean up. But when I tried to dry myself with toilet paper, I found that there was none left. I looked around the counter for something to use and spotted a clean-looking cotton pad. I thought to myself “It looks clean, why not use it” and used it to dry my vagina. Soon after, I began to feel a burning sensation. I didn't understand what was happening until I realized that my mother has been using tea tree oil on the cotton pad for her skincare routine. I don’t know if anyone of you have experience with tea tree oil but it burns like Satans spit. The pain was immeasurable. I showered with cold water while crying. It took the whole day for it to stop hurting. tl;dr Put tea tree oil on my pussy unintentionally, it hurt. PS: It's important to be careful and make sure that we're not exposing our private parts to potentially harmful substances. submitted by /u/Tsarofcocaine to r/tifu [link] [comments]

YSK: Tea tree oil is extremely effective at killing lice
Why YSK: Lice are so resistant to treatment and the marketed lice shampoo is usually ineffective with single use. Tea tree oil (TTO) is known for its antibacterial and anti fungal properties and is gentle enough to use topically to fight against these pesky blood suckers. Ingesting TTO is poisonous, only use it topically and avoid getting it into your eyes, nose and mouth. First, you mix TTO in a conditioner of your choosing ( I used a cheap one, doesn't matter what it smells like because the TTO will most likely overpower the smell anyways). Then, you apply the conditioner to your head from root to tip focusing on the nape of your neck and behind your ears, you want to let it sit on your scalp for a while, after you let it sit, you MUST use a fine tooth comb to remove all nits (lice eggs) and as much lice as you can. I would comb through until you see no more bugs in the comb. Then you rinse it out. In order for this process to be effective, I would say doing this treatment once a day for a few days should eradicate the issue. I also would like to note that using lavender oil in combination with the TTO has proven to also be effective, but I have not personally tried this method. Source: My kids had lice for a good month before I was able to finally once and for all get rid of them by using TTO. Right after buying tea tree, i read on wiki "Tea tree oil is not recommended for treating nail fungus as it is not effective."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_tree_oil#Uses Source in article Halteh P, Scher RK, Lipner SR (2016). "Over-the-counter and natural remedies for onychomycosis: do they really work?". Cutis. 98 (5): E16–E25. PMID) 28040821. Also Tea tree oil potentially poses a risk for causing abnormal breast enlargement in men,[22][23] and pre-pubertal children.[24][25] A 2018 study by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences found four of the constituent chemicals (eucalyptol, 4-terpineol, dipentene and alpha-terpineol) are endocrine disruptors, raising concerns of potential environmental health impact from the oil.[26] edit seems the article is biased see comments https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Tea_tree_oil submitted by /u/macetfromage to r/NailFungus [link] [comments]

I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but after an entire year, Tea Tree Oil is the ONLY thing that worked for me
I know Tea Tree Oil is notoriously bad in this subreddit, which is why I waited so long to try it, but I legitimately tried everything else. I got my Tragus pierced Nov 2019 and the bump showed up a month later. I tried: -sleeping on a donut pillow with a hole in the middle to avoid piercings -drugstore saline solution sprays -no q-tip use -no bumping into it -no hair tangled in piercing -sterile salt soaks -LITHA -running it under shower water and not cleaning crusties -no-pull discs ™️ -downsizing jewelry -changing jewelry material -visiting my piercer My piercer suggested that we take it out, because I’m telling you, that piercing bump was STUBBORN. But so am I. I didn’t want to give up on it and said let’s keep it for another month and if it doesn’t go away, I’ll throw in the towel. I went to Trader Joe’s, bought some tea tree oil for $7 as a last resort, and diluted a tiny capful with water before applying it to my Tragus piercing bump gently with a q-tip and I don’t know how, and I don’t know why, but the bump is GONE. It’s been 2 weeks and I’m telling you, I’m so happy, I could cry!!! I really don’t want to give anyone bad advice, but if all else fails, maybe consider this as a last resort to heal? I can’t even believe it’s finally gone. **for clarification , it was definitely a piercing bump, not a keloid or scarring. submitted by /u/snikpohamme to r/piercing [link] [comments]

Treatment with Tea Tree Oil
Hello, it's my first post here and i like to thank you in advance for so many useful information. This is the first time i really try something for my skin instead of only self-loathing since i was 15. Now with 22, I finally went to the derm but she didn't say what it was (first photo), i even asked about rosacea but she was unsure, so... 3 weeks ago i found this forum and it was extremely helpful cause i needed to try something, since ivermectin in my country is so expensive and it's impossible to get without prescription, i went for Tea tree oil and the second photo, which i took today, is the result. I think it's been working, i noticed my skin don't have that burnt sensation anymore, i also moisturise with Cerave and I'm using Avène cleanser gel and sulfur too, everyday. I noticed my dermatitis is slowly fading away like I started the year with peeling skin and my scalp every single day but now it's still present but not frequent. My mental health is still not the best but i'm really hopeful with the results week 1 week 3 submitted by /u/gabsmenes to r/Rosacea [link] [comments]

TIL that a woman walked 10,000 miles by herself through Asia and Australia. She carried underwear, a pocketknife, antibiotics, tea-tree oil, a solar-powered charger, a beacon, a BlackBerry, a satellite phone, Crocs, a compass, an emergency stash of amphetamines, and pink pajamas.

Tea Tree Oil vs Invermectin/Soolantra
Has anyone tried Tea Tree Oil (diluted) as an alternative to Invermectin? I have subtype 2 rosacea with papules & pustules and only some flushing/redness. Finacea has helped a lot with the texture of my skin and I now have very few bumps but still have the smooth red papules on my cheeks. I'd like to be able to use TTO as I don't have to get it on prescription - has anyone found that it helps with papules? submitted by /u/peeveee to r/Rosacea [link] [comments]
