BREAKING: A Tesla Semi Truck is Involved In Its First Known Fatal Crash In Nevada, After A Reportedly “Sleeping Driver” Rear Ended Stopped Cars, Killing A Married Couple And Critically Injuring A Third Person 🚛💥
A Tesla Semi has been linked to its first known fatal crash after rear-ending two vehicles stopped at a red light in Dayton, Nevada on Sunday morning, killing a married couple and leaving a third person with life-threatening injuries. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary statements taken at the scene suggest the truck’s driver may have fallen asleep before slamming into the stopped vehicles at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Traditions Parkway, just east of Carson City. The victims, identified by family as Sergio “Boo” and Jennifer Villanueva, were sitting westbound in a Volkswagen Beetle when they were struck from behind, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. While Nevada Highway Patrol has not officially confirmed the truck’s make, photos from the crash site clearly show the distinctive center-seat, cab-forward design of a Tesla Semi pulling a white dry-van trailer, first flagged by FreightWaves reporter Timothy Dooner. The location is notable too, sitting about an hour from Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada, where the company both manufactures the Semi and operates its own delivery fleet, making it plausible the truck belonged to Tesla’s own operation. Tesla only began ramping customer deliveries of the Semi this year after years of delays, and with only a few hundred units currently on the road, a fatal crash involving one is a significant first for the young program. Because the reported cause was driver fatigue rather than any autonomous system, this incident sits apart from Tesla’s ongoing Full Self-Driving controversies, since the Semi does not offer FSD and the driver was in full manual control at the time. That shifts the scrutiny toward the truck’s active safety systems instead, particularly automatic emergency braking, which is designed to stop a vehicle before hitting stationary obstacles even without driver input. Tesla has said the Semi uses the same camera hardware that enables standard AEB on its passenger cars, and the company has also built drowsiness detection into vehicles like the Model 3 and Model Y, but it has never published Semi specific safety specifications, leaving open the question of whether either system was active, or whether it engaged, before the crash. submitted by /u/InterstellarKinetics to r/InterstellarKinetics [link] [comments]

Tesla reports 480,126 vehicle deliveries for second quarter, topping expectation
Tesla reported vehicle deliveries and production levels for the second quarter, as Elon Musk’s automaker tries to rebound from consecutive annual declines in auto sales. Here are the key numbers: Total Q2 vehicle deliveries: 480,126 Total Q2 vehicle production: 451,758 Analysts were expecting around 406,600 deliveries, according to StreetAccount’s consensus. Tesla’s company-compiled consensus published last week was 406,024 deliveries. In the same period last year, Tesla reported around 384,000 deliveries, and in the first quarter of 2026, the number came in at 358,023. Tesla doesn’t break out exact delivery numbers by region or individual model, but the company said its entry-level Model 3 sedan and most popular Model Y SUVs accounted for 467,762. Deliveries are the closest approximation of sales reported by Tesla but are not precisely defined in its shareholder communications. Tesla is trying to recover from consecutive annual declines in vehicle sales that were partly caused by a consumer backlash against Musk, the world’s wealthiest person, and by the loss of a U.S. federal tax credit. Musk’s incendiary political rhetoric, endorsements of anti-immigrant extremists in Europe, and his work with the Trump administration to shrink the federal workforce drove away some prospective EV buyers. Meanwhile, Chinese automakers like BYD, Nio and Xiaomi came to market with an array of more affordable, and high-tech EVs, while Tesla also faced increased competition from South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group and European EV makers including Volkswagen. To revitalize sales, Tesla started selling lower-cost versions of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, and more recently made its driver assistance systems, marketed under the brand name Full Self-Driving (Supervised), available in some European markets. The biggest boon for the company in the quarter may have been soaring gas prices resulting from the war in Iran. European car buyers purchased more Tesla and other EVs in the first half of the year. However, oil prices are now back near where they were trading before the war began in February, in response to a fragile truce between the U.S. and Iran, and diplomatic efforts to bring the conflict to a lasting conclusion. In the U.S., car buyers have pulled back from fully electric vehicles, and are embracing hybrids, according to Dan Hearsch, managing director at AlixPartners. “We have a huge country, and people live far away from each other compared to Europe where the charging infrastructure is better and people don’t have to drive quite so far,” Hearsch said. In the second half of the year, inflation, trade policy, the rising cost of chips and other components may pose the biggest challenges to U.S. automakers, he added. Musk has directed Tesla to focus on ramping production and sales of its Semi electric trucks, and to start production of its driverless Cybercab. The company is also looking to begin production of its Optimus humanoid robots. In Tesla’s first quarter investor update, the company said it was “optimizing” its vehicle portfolio, “with an emphasis on vehicles designed for a fully autonomous future” and expected “volume production of both Cybercab and the Tesla Semi this year.” Tesla said in January that it would stop producing its flagship Model S and X vehicles, and would use their factory lines in Fremont, California to build Optimus units. In its Energy business, which installs solar photovoltaics and sells battery energy storage systems, Tesla said it deployed 13.5 GWh in the second quarter of 2026, compared to 9.6 Gwh a year ago. Analysts expected 13.3 GWh. Musk’s SpaceX, which owns xAI, bought $269 million worth of Tesla Megapacks in April, according to its IPO filing. SpaceX is using the Megapacks to reduce xAI’s electricity costs at its power-hungry data centers in and around Memphis, Tennessee. As of Wednesday’s close, Tesla shares were down about 5% this year, while the Nasdaq was up 12%. Tesla Model Y delivery post
Given all the ongoing nonsense with the model y being registered with the DVLA, I have created this post, so that when they do start getting released, you can hear it here 1st. Would be useful if you do get a delivery slot to note when you ordered and got a VIN and REG match. My order was placed 14th Feb, MY premium AWD. Vin and reg assigned about 3 weeks ago with a 5 day rolling window in thr app. FYI I spoke with a tesla rep, he said my car is sat at the collection point, so will be interesting to see how long delivery takes after this issue is sorted due to the backlog. submitted by /u/sipara9 to r/TeslaUK [link] [comments]

Tesla reports 418,227 deliveries for the fourth quarter, down 16%
Tesla posted its fourth-quarter 2025 vehicle production and deliveries report on Friday. Here are the key numbers: Total deliveries: 418,227 Total production: 434,358 Wall Street expected 426,000 deliveries for the quarter, according to estimates compiled by StreetAccount. In a company-compiled consensus posted to its website on Dec. 29, Tesla said analysts it surveyed were expecting a 15% drop from a year earlier to 422,850 vehicles for the quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2024, Elon Musk’s EV company reported 495,570 deliveries and production of 459,445 vehicles. Tesla faces heightened competition in the electric vehicle market from China’s BYD, South Korea’s Kia and Hyundai, and Volkswagen in Europe. Deliveries are the closest approximation of sales reported by Tesla, but are not precisely defined in the company’s shareholder communications. In its energy business, Tesla said that it deployed 14.2 gigawatt hours of battery energy storage products in the fourth quarter, following a record in the prior period, when it deployed 12.5 GWh. Tesla’s battery energy storage systems include backup batteries for homes and larger systems used alongside data centers and utilities. Sales of Tesla’s cars were impacted by President Donald Trump’s decision to end a federal EV incentive by Sept. 30, earlier than previously planned. The expiration pulled some EV sales forward to the third quarter for Tesla and other automakers. Even before that, the start of 2025 was a struggle for Tesla. After spending heavily to propel Trump back to the White House, Musk spent the first quarter of the year leading the president’s DOGE initiative to slash the federal workforce. Musk also endorsed Germany’s extremist anti-immigrant party, AfD, and later supported British anti-Muslim and anti-immigration activist Tommy Robinson. In recent weeks, Musk has called to abolish the European Union. Partly in response to Musk’s incendiary rhetoric, Tesla has faced an enduring consumer backlash in Europe and the U.S. The company hasn’t fully recovered despite introducing a new, more affordable version of its Model Y SUV in October. However, Tesla shares still rallied in the second half of the year, jumping 40% in the third quarter, reaching a fresh record in mid-December. Musk bought $1 billion worth of shares in September. Shareholders approved a new $1 trillion pay plan for Musk in November that will give the CEO more shares and increased control over the company. The vote came after Musk threatened to potentially leave Tesla if the plan didn’t pass. Critics voiced concerns that the plan doesn’t require Musk to spend a minimum amount of time on his Tesla work, and that there are no limits on his political activity. While Tesla doesn’t break out deliveries geographically, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) showed that the company lost market share in the region in 2025. Tesla’s European registrations fell 39% in the first 11 months of 2025, while Chinese rival BYD saw registrations rise 240% in Europe. Overall, battery electric vehicles were more widely embraced in Europe in 2025, amounting to around 16% of all new vehicles sold there. Some analysts project that sales of Tesla’s more affordable Model Y standard, which the company launched in October, will help the company regain ground in coming quarters. In a note last week, analysts at Cannacord Genuity wrote that EV adoption “is rising quickly in emerging markets such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Brazil, where robust consumer interest could create meaningful long-term upside for Tesla, even as it faces fierce rivalry from Chinese automakers.” Besides BYD, Tesla now faces competition from other Chinese EV makers including Xiaomi and Geely. But Tesla is selling investors on Musk’s vision of the future, or what he calls “sustainable abundance,” more than EV sales. That vision includes robotaxis, which Musk has promised for years, and humanoid robots, which he says will someday be able to serve as factory workers, babysitters, crime stoppers and surgeons. Tesla removed Enhanced Autopilot from my car — even though it's on the window sticker
I’m posting here for support because I’ve run into an issue with a 2017 Model S I purchased that I believe Tesla should resolve — they removed Enhanced Autopilot (EAP), even though it’s clearly listed on the original window sticker Tesla provided with the sale. I purchased a 2017 Tesla Model S from a dealership. The car was sold to the dealership at auction — by Tesla. The original Monroney (window) sticker, included by Tesla with the sale of the car, clearly lists Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) as a $5,000 option. The vehicle also has MCU2 and HW3, which are typically only installed on Teslas that were configured with EAP or FSD. After taking delivery, I discovered that none of the driver assistance features were functioning. No EAP, no basic cruise control, no lane keeping, and the car was showing emergency braking system errors. I brought it to a Tesla Service Center, where they found that the Autopilot hardware connections were unplugged. After they reconnected them (and charged me for it), I learned that EAP had been completely removed from the vehicle — and Tesla now refuses to re-enable it. According to the vehicle history, Tesla owned this car for approximately 24,000 miles before selling it at auction. So if EAP was removed, it would have been removed by Tesla themselves — there was no private party owner in between, and no FSD transfer to another vehicle. What makes this worse: I’ve saved multiple screenshots from Tesla’s own support assistant confirming that: EAP is tied to the VIN It should remain with the car after ownership changes The Monroney sticker is a valid indicator of original configuration If Tesla sold the car and provided the sticker, EAP should still be on it Tesla Customer Support should re-enable it if it was removed I’ve uploaded all those screenshots here for transparency: 🔗 Tesla Assistant screenshots (Imgur album) Tesla support’s response has been to say the window sticker is “outdated,” and that the dealership needs to prove Tesla sold it with EAP — even though Tesla was the seller, and Tesla provided the sticker. I’m now considering filing a small claims case in Illinois under the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act (815 ILCS 505/) for misrepresentation and the removal of a documented, paid software feature. Has anyone else experienced Tesla removing a paid software package — especially on a vehicle Tesla previously owned? If anyone has had success with escalation or reactivation, I’d really appreciate advice. submitted by /u/ryank9rlx to r/TeslaSupport [link] [comments]

Tesla reports 336,000 vehicle deliveries in first quarter
Tesla reported 336,000 vehicle deliveries in the first quarter of 2025, two days after the electric vehicle company’s stock wrapped up its worst quarter since 2022. Here are the key numbers: Total deliveries Q1 2025: 336,000 Total production Q1 2025: 362,000 Investors were expecting Tesla to report deliveries of between 360,000 and 370,000 vehicles, according to StreetAccount. Tesla’s investor relations team sends a company-compiled consensus to select analysts, and said the average estimate was for around 377,590 deliveries. Prediction market company Kalshi on Tuesday released a forecast for Tesla deliveries of 352,000. In the first quarter of 2024, Tesla reported 386,810 deliveries, and production of 433,371 vehicles. Deliveries are the closest approximation of vehicle sales reported by Tesla but are not precisely defined in the company’s shareholder communications. Tesla doesn’t break out sales and production by model or region. However, the company said that it produced 345,454 of its most popular Model 3 and Model Y cars and delivered 323,800 of them in the three months ending March 31. The company reported 12,881 deliveries of its other models, including its angular steel Cybertruck. During the quarter, Tesla faced planned, partial shutdowns in some of its factories that allowed the company to upgrade manufacturing lines to start producing a redesigned version of its popular Model Y SUV. CEO Elon Musk recently said during an all-hands session with Tesla employees that he expects the Model Y to be the “best-selling car on Earth again this year.” But Tesla has to contend with an onslaught of EV competition and reputational damage. In the first quarter, the company was hit with waves of protests, boycotts and some criminal activity that targeted Tesla vehicles and facilities in response to Musk’s political rhetoric and his work as part of President Donald Trump’s second administration. After spending $290 million to help return President Donald Trump to the White House, Musk is leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he’s slashing costs, eliminating regulations and cutting tens of thousands of federal jobs. Musk, the world’s wealthiest person, has also involved himself in European politics, promoting the anti-immigrant AfD party in Germany in February’s elections. Tesla’s business on the continent is struggling. Across 15 European countries, Tesla’s market share declined to 17.9% in the first quarter from 9.3% in the same period a year earlier, according to data tracked by EU-EVs.com. In Germany, Tesla’s market share in battery electric vehicles plummeted to 4% from about 16% over that stretch. Tesla shares sank 36% in the first quarter, their steepest drop since the fourth quarter of 2022 and third-biggest decline in the company 15 years on the public market. The drop wiped out $460 billion in market cap. Source: Tesla (TSLA) Q1 2025 vehicle delivery and production numbers submitted by /u/Puginator to r/stocks [link] [comments]

Tesla reports 386,810 deliveries in the first quarter of 2024, produced 433,371 vehicles
Tesla just published its first-quarter vehicle production and deliveries report for 2024. Here are the key numbers: Total deliveries Q1 2024: 386,810 Total production Q1 2024: 433,371 Tesla doesn’t break out sales of its vehicles by model but reported that it produced 412,376 Model 3/Y cars and delivered 369,783 of those cars. It produced 20,995 of its other models and delivered 17,027. In the same period last year, the electric automaker reported 422,875 deliveries and production of 440,808 vehicles. In the fourth quarter of 2023, Tesla reported 484,507 deliveries and production of 494,989 vehicles. Deliveries are the closest approximation of sales reported by Tesla but are not precisely defined in the company’s shareholder communications. According to a mean of 11 estimates compiled by FactSet, analysts were expecting deliveries of around 457,000 for the period ending March 31. Estimates ranged from a high of 511,000 deliveries to a low of 414,000 for the first quarter, with estimates updated in March ranging from 414,000 to 469,000 deliveries. Independent auto industry researcher Troy Teslike, whose work is closely followed by Tesla fans, had expected deliveries to come in around 409,000. Tesla’s head of investor relations Martin Viecha sent around a company-compiled consensus based on 30 analysts’ estimates over the weekend to select investors. The consensus, which was viewed by CNBC, said analysts were expecting a mean of 443,027 deliveries and a median of 431,125 deliveries for the quarter. Tesla faced numerous challenges in the first quarter. Houthi militia attacks on shippers in the Red Sea disrupted Tesla’s component supply and temporarily suspended production at its German factory outside of Berlin in January. In March, environmental activists set fire to infrastructure near that same factory, depriving Tesla of sufficient operation power and again causing a pause in production. In China, Tesla faced an onslaught of competition from domestic EV makers, including BYD and newcomers such as the phone maker Xiaomi. After sluggish sales numbers for its China-made cars in January and February, Tesla reduced production of its Model 3 and Model Y at its Shanghai plant and slashed workers’ schedules to 5 days a week from 6 and a half days. In the U.S., reviews were mixed for Tesla’s newest model — an angular pickup dubbed the Cybertruck — which the EV maker only began to sell in small numbers in December last year. A series of discounts and incentives appeared to be less effective in driving sales volume than in the past for Tesla. During the final days of the first quarter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk mandated that all sales and service staff install and demo the newest version of the company’s premium driver assistance system for customers in North America before handing over their cars. The system is marketed as Full Self-Driving but doesn’t make Tesla cars autonomous. They require a human at the wheel, ready to steer or brake at any time. Shares of Tesla dropped 29% in the first quarter, the biggest decline since the end of 2022 and the third-steepest quarterly plunge since the company’s IPO in 2010. Tesla passes $1T valuation on news of Hertz ordering 100,000 cars.
https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/hertz-orders-100000-tesla-cars-bloomberg-news-2021-10-25/ Oct 25 (Reuters) - Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) surpassed $1 trillion in market value on Monday after landing its biggest-ever order from rental car company Hertz, a deal that reinforced the electric car leader's ambitions to top the entire auto industry in sales over the next decade. Tesla shares surged as much as 14.9% to $1,045.02, making it the world's most valuable automaker according to Reuters calculations based on its latest filing. Even Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk expressed surprise at the velocity of the surge. "Strange that moved valuation, as Tesla is very much a production ramp problem, not a demand problem," Musk tweeted in reply to a comment by Ross Gerber, co-founder of the investment fund Gerber Kawasaki and a Tesla shareholder. "Wild $T1mes!" Musk wrote in a separate tweet. Tesla is the first carmaker to join the elite club of trillion-dollar companies that includes Apple Inc (AAPL.O), Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O), Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) and Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O). Most automakers do not boast about sales to rental car companies, often made at discounts to unload slow-selling models. But for Tesla and its investors, Hertz's decision to order 100,000 Tesla vehicles by the end of 2022 showed electric vehicles are no longer a niche product, but will dominate the mass car market in the near future. "Electric vehicles are now mainstream, and we've only just begun to see rising global demand and interest," Hertz interim Chief Executive Officer Mark Fields told Reuters. Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk has set an annual sales growth target of 50%, on average, eventually reaching 20 million vehicles a year. That would be more than twice the volume of current sales leaders Volkswagen AG and Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T). Consumer demand for electric vehicles is turning a corner in some major markets. The Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling vehicle of any kind in Europe last month, consulting firm JATO Dynamics reported Monday. read more Tesla also appeared on Monday to be making progress resolving regulatory problems that threatened its business in China. The company said it had opened a new data and research center in Shanghai to comply with government requirements that data collected from vehicles in China stay in the country. read more However, Tesla faced new U.S. regulatory pressure on Monday. The National Transportation Safety Board's new chief sent Musk a letter questioning why Tesla was rolling out its "Full Self Driving" software even though the company has not officially responded to the NTSB's questions about the automated driving system's safety. "It (the Hertz order) puts an exclamation point under guidance for 50%+ growth in deliveries," Roth Capital analyst Craig Irwin said. "Another solid piece of evidence EVs are going mainstream." Tesla now faces the daunting day-to-day challenge of becoming a high-volume automaker growing at a rate not seen since the early 1900s when demand exploded for Henry Ford's Model T. Tesla is coping with an order backlog for its vehicles and extended supply chain disruptions. Tesla Chief Financial Officer Zachary Kirkhorn cautioned investors during a call last week that Tesla's near-term production goals will hinge on resolving those disruptions and ramping up two new, huge assembly and battery plants in Austin and Berlin. read more "There is quite an execution journey ahead of us," Kirkhorn said. Rivals are not sitting still. Daimler AG's (DAIGn.DE) Mercedes-Benz brand, General Motors Co (GM.N), Ford Motor Co (F.N), and startups such as Lucid (LCID.O) and China's Xpeng (9868.HK) are all battling Tesla with new electric cars or trucks. Investors and analysts, for now, are looking past the near-term challenges. Morgan Stanley boosted its Tesla price target by 33% to $1,200 as the brokerage expects the electric carmaker to surpass 8 million deliveries in 2030. The Hertz deal also underscored the power of the Tesla brand, as the rental car company emerges from bankruptcy and aims to revive its once-dominant brand. Hertz's rescue is led by a group of investors including Knighthead Capital Management, Certares Opportunities and Apollo Capital Management. "We absolutely believe that this is going to be competitive advantage for us," interim Hertz CEO Mark Fields said of the Tesla order, due to be delivered by the end of 2022. "We want to be a leader in mobility. ... Getting customers experience with electrified vehicles is an absolute priority for us." Tesla's cheapest Model 3 sedan starts at about $44,000, making this order worth about $4.4 billion, if the entire order were for its mass-market sedan. Fields declined to say how much Hertz was paying for the order. Tesla was not immediately available for comment. With the current order, Hertz said EVs will make up more than 20% of its global fleet. Fields cited the rising number of EVs for sale and consumer interest in electrified vehicles. Hertz also said it was installing thousands of chargers throughout its network. Customers who rent a Tesla Model 3 will have access to 3,000 Tesla supercharging stations throughout the United States and Europe. Tesla shares closed up 12.7% at $1,024.86. Edit: Imagine you time travel back to October 25th, 2019. Two years ago, TSLA stock was trading at $59.64, pre-split, and have the following conversation with someone: You: I came from the future, in 2 years TSLA will be trading at $1,000 and is part of the S&P500. Them: An almost 20x increase? Hahahah right and what else? Bitcoin goes to $50k? LMAO. You: Actually no, it went through a 5:1 split, so almost a 100x increase. And also let me tell you about this thing called Shibainu coin and a global pandemic... Now thinking about it, the past 2 years have been wild haven't they... submitted by /u/cookingboy to r/investing [link] [comments]

Tesla delivers 241,300 cars in Q3 2021
Tesla has bucked the wider trend of declining sales brought on by the global chip shortage in the third quarter this year, as it sold 241,300 cars — a total of 102,000 more vehicles than the same quarter last year. It’s the most Tesla has ever sold in a quarter (and for some added perspective, the company sold 367,500 in all of 2019). The company managed to deliver more vehicles once again despite the fact that major automakers saw huge drops this past quarter. General Motors, the largest automaker in the US, said Friday morning that it only sold 446,997 vehicles in the third quarter — a 33 percent drop from the same period last year. Tesla has avoided similar problems in part because it has been sourcing different semiconductors and rewriting software on the fly to make those chips work in place of the ones not currently available. Beyond that, the company continues to see strong sales in China, where it started making and selling vehicles in early 2020. The Model Y SUV has also become a popular option in the United States, and Tesla just started selling them in Europe, too. Edit: If Tesla increases production by another 73% by Q3 2022 they will be producing 416,000 vehicles a quarter. If GM sells only 6.5% less vehicles Q3 of next year than Tesla and GM will have the same production numbers. Something to keep in mind. https://www.theverge.com/2021/10/2/22704830/tesla-sold-241300-cars-third-quarter submitted by /u/redmars1234 to r/stocks [link] [comments]

Elon Musk says Tesla deliveries will rise 30% to 40% in 2020, touts new battery tech
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday he expects vehicle deliveries to increase by 30 to 40 percent over last year, when the company reported deliveries of 367,500 vehicles. The new guidance from Musk implies deliveries of between 477,750 and 514,500 cars, a range that encompasses the company’s previously stated goal to deliver half a million cars in 2020. Musk offered the updated numbers during the company’s 2020 shareholder’s meeting on Tuesday afternoon, which was accompanied by a presentation about Tesla’s battery advances. After thanking Tesla owners for their word-of-mouth marketing, he noted: “In 2019, we had 50% growth. And I think we’ll do really pretty well in 2020, probably somewhere between 30 to 40 percent growth, despite a lot of very difficult circumstances.” The company’s shares dropped more than 6% during the presentation, which took place after normal trading hours. During the “battery day” portion of the presentation, Tesla confirmed that it is making its own battery cells at a facility in Fremont. Joining Musk on stage, Tesla’s senior vice president of powertrain and energy engineering, Drew Baglino, described the new cells as a “large tabless cell,” with a “shingled spiral” design. The cells are larger than the ones Tesla purchases from Panasonic and other suppliers, and offer “thermal benefits” which make them appropriate for use in electric vehicles. Baglino said battery, manufacturing and design changes underway at Tesla would eventually “unlock” a 54% improvement in the range of the company’s vehicles. Musk, who is famous for being overly optimistic on such matters, said with all the battery and manufacturing advances Tesla is working on: “About 3 years from now, we’re confident we can make a very compelling $25,000 electric vehicle that’s also fully autonomous.” Near-term, Tesla says it aims to produce 10 gigawatt hours worth of its new battery cells at its pilot plant within a year. Musk noted that whatever cells it produces in Fremont would be supplemental to 100 gigawatt hours worth of cells it buys from suppliers. The company also said it had secured rights to a lithium clay deposit in Nevada to mine for its batteries. On Monday, Musk warned that the advances announced at battery day won’t find their way into mass production until 2021, sending the company’s stock down about 6% ahead of the event on Tuesday. Due partly to Covid-19 health orders that limit the size of in-person gatherings, Tesla postponed its annual meeting from July this year to Sept. 22, 2020. The company previously held its shareholder meetings at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California but moved the event to Fremont, where its U.S. vehicle assembly plant is based. Shareholders parked and sat in their cars at the meeting, which Musk characterized as a “drive-in.” They honked in lieu of applause. Al Prescott, Tesla's VP of legal, at the company's socially distanced 2020 shareholders meeting, as attendees listen in their cars. Al Prescott, Tesla’s VP of legal, at the company’s socially distanced 2020 shareholders meeting, as attendees listen in their cars. Those who wanted to attend had to obtain a winning lottery-style ticket (or other special access) to the meeting. Otherwise, shareholders could log into a website to ask questions to be answered during the live-streamed event. Since its last shareholder meeting in June 2019, Tesla’s long-time CTO JB Straubel resigned from the company. He worked there from the start, even before Musk took the CEO reins in 2008. Tesla also appointed a new board member, Hiromichi Mizuno, formerly the Chief Investment Officer of the Japan Government Pension Investment Fund, and a famous critic of shortsellers. Long-time Elon Musk collaborator and proponent, venture capitalist Steve Jurvetson, is leaving the Tesla board as well, though he still sits on the board of Musk’s aerospace venture, SpaceX. Remaining board members at Tesla authorized a five-for-one stock split, which the company implemented in August this year. The split followed four consecutive quarters of reported profitability for Tesla, and a season where Musk clashed with health authorities in California over Covid-19 restrictions that temporarily shut down their vehicle assembly plant in Fremont. The stock split also followed a huge payout to Musk, part of his unprecedented compensation package. Expecting Tesla to talk about where its metals for batteries are sourced, and to promote battery tech suitable for Semi and Cybertruck vehicles, Cannacord Genuity analyst Jed Dorsheimer wrote in a note to investors before the meeting: “The big question will be on follow through. It’s one thing to announce all these breakthroughs, which might be great for momentum algorithms, but like most things TSLA, the devil will be in the details, which sadly will take some time to play out.” Cannacord maintains a “Hold” rating and a price target of $442 on shares of Tesla currently. Shares of the electric car maker are up more than 400% year-to-date. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/22/elon-musk-at-battery-day-tesla-deliveries-to-rise-30percent-to-40percent-in-2020.html submitted by /u/Brothanogood to r/stocks [link] [comments]

New Tesla Model S Now the Quickest Production Car in the World -new 100 kWh battery pack: 0-60 in 2.5 secs and 315 miles of range
please keep all posts related to the announcement in this thread New Tesla Model S Now the Quickest Production Car in the World The Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode is the third fastest accelerating production car ever produced, with a 0-60 mph time of 2.5* seconds. However, both the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder were limited run, million dollar vehicles and cannot be bought new. While those cars are small two seaters with very little luggage space, the pure electric, all-wheel drive Model S P100D has four doors, seats up to 5 adults plus 2 children and has exceptional cargo capacity. The 100 kWh battery also increases range substantially to an estimated 315 miles on the EPA cycle and 613 km on the EU cycle, making it the first to go beyond 300 miles and the longest range production electric vehicle by far. The larger battery pack is also available on the Model X, making the world’s quickest SUV even faster. Model X P100D with Ludicrous mode accelerates to 60 mph in 2.9* seconds and travels up to 289 miles EPA and 542 km EU on a single charge. Model X is also a pure electric SUV and can seat up to seven adults. Model S and Model X are engineered to be the safest cars on the road and to have the highest ratings from NHTSA. Both have access to the Tesla Supercharger network for the freedom to travel long distance for free. And every Tesla will improve over time with free over the air upgrades. Tesla customers who have ordered a P90D Ludicrous, but not taken delivery, can upgrade to the 100 kWh pack for $10,000. Existing P90D Ludicrous owners can also upgrade to a 100 kWh pack, but for $20,000, as their used 90 kWh pack will have to be recycled. While the P100D Ludicrous is obviously an expensive vehicle, we want to emphasize that every sale helps pay for the smaller and much more affordable Tesla Model 3 that is in development. Without customers willing to buy the expensive Model S and X, we would be unable to fund the smaller, more affordable Model 3 development. Expected value using max power mode and Motor Trend benchmark QUICK SPECS Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode Range: 315 miles (EPA Estimate) / 613 km (NEDC Estimate) 0-60 acceleration: 2.5 seconds 0-100 km/h acceleration: 2.7 seconds Price: starts at $134,500 Model X P100D with Ludicrous Mode Range: 289 miles (EPA Estimate) / 542 km (NEDC Estimate) 0-60 acceleration: 2.9 seconds 0-100 km/h acceleration: 3.1 seconds Price: starts at $135,500 submitted by /u/FredTesla to r/teslamotors [link] [comments]
