Guy in Tesla pointed a gun at me twice in MI
This scared me so bad. I don’t even know what he was so angry about. I’ve reported to the state police, but they haven’t responded. This occurred at 75 and 696 Edit: I called the non emergency police line when I got home and they forwarded me to a line that was automated; I then got this text: “MSP Detroit: The Metro North Post is located at 14350 W 10 Mile in Oak Park, MI. The post is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, excluding holidays. They can be reached at 248-584-5740. Thank you and stay safe.” I tried calling all day yesterday, left 5 messages, got no response. I just got through to them and the guy who answered said there’s nothing they can do because I didn’t call 911. He was rude and scolded me for not handling the situation correctly. I get it, I fucked up, just didn’t think 911 could do anything without the video, so I waited until I got home. Dumb on my part, I know that now. I asked if I could send him the video and he said no, they don’t accept those and it’s too late now... If anybody else has any other ideas that are constructive and not mean, please dm me. I’m stress eating chocolate rn. *And for those saying it’s not a gun, I agree the video doesn’t show it clearly, but it was a gun. When he pointed it at me near the end of the video when the white SUV pulled up, I saw the tip and I don’t think I’ve ever been so frightened in my life. *we were merging from 3 to two lanes - I zipper merged, he didn’t like that apparently. I have the previous videos; nothing I do warrants this reaction. submitted by /u/Competitive_Gold_493 to r/dashcams [link] [comments]

Why shouldn't I buy a Tesla
I'm sure this has been discussed here before but had a good scroll and couldn't see anything so thought I'd drop the question. Apologies if I'm boring you. Looking to get an EV around the $60k mark. Have driven Y, 3, Sealion 7, EX5, ID 4, Elroq. Elon factor aside, I just feel like the Teslas have too much going for them: - Charging network - Range - Tech - Self driving - even without the $150 p/m FSD the driver assist feels way above the rest. Lane keeping in most of the others is borderline dangerous but Tesla hugs the centre - Resale value - Cabin design - Company won't disappear overnight - Superior dealer/support network No physical buttons is a bit of a downer but the software is so well designed that I don't think it'll be a big issue day to day. For the money, I just feel that the Tesla delivers a far superior product to all the others. I didn't want to feel this way. I thought it'd be a tougher decision but the only other car I've driven that comes anywhere close is the ID4. Give me some good reasons that I might be missing. submitted by /u/Rob3112 to r/EVAustralia [link] [comments]

Buy a new Tesla its cheaper
If you drive a combustion engine vehicle time to make some money. I’ve never been a big fan of electric vehicles but I am a fan of saving money. That’s what pushed me to actually sit down and run the numbers, and the results surprised me enough to switch. For context, I was driving a 2011 diesel that did around 50mpg. I bought it for £3,200 and ran it for 3 years. On the surface, it felt cheap… but when I broke everything down monthly, the “hidden” costs really added up: Purchase cost lost: £3,200 → ~£88/month Diesel spend: ~£6,200 → ~£172/month Maintenance + tax: ~£1,600 → ~£44/month Total real cost: ~£304/month Then I looked at leasing. I got a brand new 2026 Tesla Model 3 on a no-deposit lease for £330/month. My off-peak EV tariff is 2.69p/kWh, so charging costs me about £5/month for my mileage. Total: ~£335/month So realistically, I’m paying about £31/month more than I was but now I’ve got: A brand new car No reliability worries Way lower running costs A much nicer driving experience And that’s comparing against a very efficient diesel. If you’re driving something less efficient (which most people are), you’d likely save money overall, not spend more. For me, £31/month for peace of mind + a new car is a no-brainer. I’ve gone pretty deep into this since switching built a bunch of Excel sheets to compare energy tariffs and figure out when it actually makes sense to move to an off-peak EV tariff. It’s not always a win, since your standing charges, gas, and daytime rates all go up, so it really depends on your mileage and home usage. If anyone’s curious whether it would work for their situation, I’m happy to help. I’m so passionate about Tesla now. Edit: My car’s value plummeted by £3200 over three years due to a breakdown. If you own a car, consider the price drop after you’re ready for an upgrade and account for the extra mileage. You’ll find the average monthly loss is similar, mines on the lower end because it’s spread across 3 years. Edit: Some people seem unaware that buying a second-hand car for £10,000 and selling it after three years, factoring in mileage and depreciation, would cost at least £3,000. The best resale price would be £6,000. Someone suggested running it until completely worn out and using it for ten years but even then I’d still lose £83 a month. This doesn’t even include fuel and maintenance. Therefore leasing an EV makes perfect financial sense if you have a combustion engine; it’ll cost you less per month or slightly more in my case. submitted by /u/MahbubWakanda69 to r/TeslaUK [link] [comments]

Regret my Tesla lease
Title says it all but to give some detail, you never realize how ridiculous it is to lease one of these until lease end comes. Support is horrible for trying to get a buyout quote for a potential third party dealership, they nickel and dime you with a disposition fee just to return the car, let alone if you even wanted to lease another one there is no real incentive to it. They offered a 500 dollar credit which basically pays for the ordering fee….. very unhappy with Tesla I would never get another one. Now I will say some things are my own fault like not realizing after three years I would need to change the tires before bring it back to the dealer/store. But overall if I could go back in time no way I would do it the money I saved I’m paying for on the back end. submitted by /u/Due-Arrival-2404 to r/TeslaLounge [link] [comments]

Tesla absolutely obsolete in 4 years
A huge selling point for me when I bought my Performance model 3 about 4 years ago was that everyone talked about how you get upgraded for life. Since then we've upgraded to version 13 that my car will never get. Soon, Grok is coming out, which should be quite easy to make available to everyone, but because AMD processors started later in the year, they're making that a requirement so I won't get that. I won't be getting the FSD I paid for, that's for HW4 or maybe even HW5 or 6, so that's obsolete. Always making unnecessary lane changes and beeping at me it's almost unusable. My battery ended up being defective so they replaced it with an even older and more degraded battery, so I lost like 30 miles in range overnight. COOL UPGRADED FOR LIFE VEHICLE! Also, huge cherry on top that the CEO became an absolute fucking nazi idiot. submitted by /u/mr4sh to r/RealTesla [link] [comments]

Do you regret buying your Tesla?
I am considering trading my Tacoma for a Model3. I am sick of getting 17mpg for a truck that I actually use as a truck once every few months. From two Tesla's to none.
Had two Model Y's but didn't want to keep them and they were depreciating before our eyes as we checked the prices so bit the bullet and swapped out both. Had varying amounts of equity in the cars but got what we could that would match our realistic needs. Bittersweet but one less thing we needed to think about! Aside - Used bolts are crazy cheap! Kinda plasticy but for the 2 mile commute it works. Ioniq 6 is super long! Bolt is not pulled in all the way else it would really show. Was able to get a 2023 with only 1700 miles which is crazy, but while the rated range is 270 vs 310 on the Y, in the 80 mile drive to the dealer and then back the Ioniq used less of the battery percentage. Some variability in the drives but at least a very close match. Insurance also went down with each purchase which was nice. submitted by /u/lightofhonor to r/electricvehicles [link] [comments]
